While the Wii U has suffered from a poor marketing campaign, Nintendo has shown promise with their more recent efforts. Just this weekend, one consumer at NeoGAF beheld a rather generous Wii U and 3DS display at their local Toys R Us. And by rather generous, I mean unprecedented.

You might notice the huge ‘U’ logos propped in front of the Wii U demo stations – perhaps to emphasise that the Wii U is not a Wii. Additionally, the graphics at each display are very engaging and informative.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of an awesome marketing campaign; and, more than anything, hopefully it works.

  • Nice… This is the presence Nintendo needs in most of the big retail outlets. Make sure the stores do not just lump all the Nintendo stuff in the corner without proper displays and organization.

    • kevin nun—-

Only Nintendo would pump up advertisement in Toys R Us and not BestBuy or Gamestop lol. Still pretty nice.

      • I agree they need to similar things at other retailers but Nintendo did some big promos with Best Buy not too long ago. The couple Best Buys I go to around me have decent Wii U displays as well even though the stores do not seem to stock the displays very well.

  • Gabe Hoffman

Very Good. Its big, attractive, and put a good emphasis on the difference

  • Ony

    That’s wonderful.

  • Should have listed more Wii U titles like TW101 and Pikmin 3 instead of VC titles, but that is still a strong display, especially at TRU.

  • Niknique

Now this is what I’m talking about! Every store could learn a thing or two from Toys R us.

    • Ducked

Like Walmart? They have the Xbox One games in the Wii U section, the 3DS games in the PlayStation 3 section, and the Wii U and Wii games in the 3DS section.

      • Niknique

Exactly! My local target finally got their crap together and organized the Nintendo section, so no more 3DS and DS games in the Wii U shelves yay! But it still doesn’t look as nice as this Toys R’ Us Lol 😛

My local Wal Mart have always treated the Nintendo section very nicely. Actually the Nintendo section is the first section down the video game aisle at my location.

      • No Kidding.. The electronics section at most Walmarts I go to are a huge mess. They cannot get most things right.

        • Nathan Verbois

That’s because the people that work in the electronics section are not always electronically savvy, you savvy?

  • BIG Franky

damn…. that looks great. I wish my local TRU looked half as nice…. my location looks like a frigging bomb hit it.

    • Ducked

Mine looks like that too….maybe a bomb did hit it…

  • starwars360

Nice one!!! Super Mario 3D World is won for 1st and real next generation game. 🙂

    • Sonic the Hedgehog

Yeah, meanwhile I need to gather momentum for my third game. Reviewers are not helping my sales, you know?

      • Yousif Alromaithi

I was right behind you buddy and tried to help you in your sales but the reason is some people don’t understand Sonic which he always is not about speed but a platform game too. I hope in the next game you will shine like a bright star much look you stood with mario on the 90s.

        • Nathan Verbois

You can’t satisfy everybody, Sonic! Just satisfy yourself.

          • Sonic the Hedgehog

Thanks, even though that sounded wrong. VERY wrong…

          • Nathan Verbois

            So wrong, it’s right!

          • Yousif Alromaithi

Anyways he can satisfy himself if he is happy with his works but if he want to go for more than he needs to step up his game.

      • Mario

It’s all right Sonic! You just need to do better next time! Got it buddy?

        • Yousif Alromaithi

He will he just got to believe in himself that’s all.

      • Ducked

Maybe you should get Tails and Knuckles involved. A 2 player 2D co-op game with Tails would be pretty sweet. Of course a Sonic Heroes 2 would be awesome too..

      • Don’t worry we will work hard with SEGA to create:

Sonic 64, Sonic Sunshine and Sonic Galaxy. And if they sell we will
        also create Sonic 3D World.

For the 2D sonic games we will make a New Super Sonic Bros series 😀

        • rp17

I would love NSSBU and Sonic Galaxy!

        • Alienfish

There’s actually a new stage in Mario 3D World that should probably be taken as a template for future Sonic games. If you’ve played the game up through World 3 you know what I’m talking about.

          • Yousif Alromaithi

The speed stage which is two dimensional, I forget which number but i know it is on world 3 that stage was a blast.

        • Kameron Grayson

          My reaction to this post.

          • That meme has already been used by @jjbredesen, but nice try and i am glad you like are advertising 🙂

  • Zuxs13

I wouldn’t call that a “huge” display, especially for a toy store. But it is a good looking display and does show off their products nicely.

There was a ton of commercials for Mario 3D world and Zelda 3DS at the theater when i went to see Catching Fire this weekend. Also there was a Mario Commercial during Sunday Night Football last night. Finally!! they are picking the right places to advertise.

  • Superstick98

JESUS CHRIST!!! O_O Screw Gamestop! I know where I’m going from now on! XD

    • capitalism1023

Seriously, I gave up on Gamestop a few years ago. Every time I asked for a Nintendo game they gave me this shitty look and I always got attitude from the employees, no matter what location I went to. If you’re a Nintendo fan your best bets are Toys R Us and Walmart.

  • SleepySkullhead

I want to go to there.

  • jjbredesen

Great job Nintendo they are really getting a lot better at advertising 😀

    • Thank you we will continue to get even more agressive with are marketing, and you can be sure that ther will not be any game/toy stores that does not have a Wii U ad in them, by the end of 2014.

      • jjbredesen

        Thats great 😀

        Keep it up man!

      • Kameron Grayson

I’m interested in creating a 3rd Party game in 2014, can I? I’ll gladly speak to Iwata.

        • You will have to show us your Developars licence and present a game that meets our terms of quality.

  • Josiah Parsons

Just in time for christmas. Sweet!

  • Gregg

Awesome. And… This time, both the Console, and the Games, will not disappoint, when people get it home. I LOVE the Wii, but, the WiiU just totally Crushes it….

  • Simon Stevens

This is why Toys R Us are magical ^.^

  • CEObrainz

I feel like I’ve been to this one but then again all these stores feel the same. However this is what Nintendo should have been doing, can’t wait to see them really up the advertising for Smash, Mario Kart or Zelda.

  • Rinslowe

That’s the way Nintendo! Get that Mario goodness in as many hands as possible.
I’m loving those review scores too!

*But not as much as the game itself though, lol.

  • iamserious

Wow this is pretty awesome. I hope this will work to bring more attention to the Wii U.
