Square Enix is very much interested in the Nintendo Switch and are bringing their older games to the platform. Sort of like Capcom is doing with their games. “The Switch is a very attractive and important platform for us. As a games company, having that breadth in our portfolio is very important, with the Switch being such a unique piece of hardware” said Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda in the latest issue of MCV. Matsuda also shared details about how the company plans to add more older games to the Switch. “One of our other big initiatives is to get as many of our past titles available via digital releases. Among the younger generations of gamers, youâve got lots of people out there who may have heard of our past titles but have never had an opportunity to play them.” He also pointed out that Square Enix isn’t just interested in releasing straight ports of older games, but that those older games have to be modernized as well. “Just straight ports isnât cutting it, we need to update those and modernize them to make something that works for modern gamers too.” Thanks to Kenneth for the news tip! local_offer square enix Switch stars Further Reading FIFA 19 on Switch features PS4 Pro ads NPD: Nintendo had the best July month since 2
