Nintendo is broadening the scope of StreetPass software this weekend.

On December 14 and 15, if your 3DS comes within range of any Nintendo hotspot in the U.S., you’ll instantly connect with users in every other hotspot around the country.

With Miiverse now available on 3DS, it’s great to see Nintendo taking advantage of its software during the holiday season.

Admittedly, it’s disappointing that this particularly promotion is exclusive to the States. But if you’ve yet to pick up a 3DS, there’s never been a better time.

  • Nice.. Wonder if I can beat my record of 130 streetpass tags in one day with this event. I got that when I put my 3DS in my pocket at the Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses concert. Of course I had to check it very often as I think it is limited to 10 at a time until you check your plaza.

    • It is. I found this annoying at E3 as I was having to constantly play with my 3DS as I was moving in between booths and things. I couldn’t get as many as I wanted because some times I was limited from checking it. I got around 300 this past trip.

        Yea I had the same issue. I didn’t even know you had a limit of 10 until I was there for a while and checked my 3DS expecting like 30 lol

    You can get 20 street passes at a time by greeting 10, then pressing home, and letting the next 10 wait. You do have to play with the first 10 first (or dismiss them) in order to greet the second batch, but it works.

    I tries to get out. But with this stupid snow storm was busy running around shoveling and shopping all done of coarse without my 3ds’. Smh
