Mario Karting Reimagined coming to #SXSW. You can get excited now #MotorOilReimagined #WiiU #MK8 pic.twitter.com/rtmBNZ2sHA — Pennzoil (@Pennzoil) March 3, 2014 Nintendo will be at South by Southwest again this year with Mario Kart 8 and it looks like they’re teaming up with Pennzoil in order to promote the game in new ways. The official Pennzoil Twitter account tweeted the above image and said get ready to see Mario Kart “reimagined.” Most likely the game will be playable at South by Southwest, so if you live in Austin, Texas or the surrounding area and want to check out what Nintendo is doing, be sure and head to the SXSW festival taking place March 7 through March 11. local_offer mario kart Nintendo pennzoil sxsw wii u stars Further Reading Consumer council in Europe alleges Nintendo i Switch has more games than Wii and Wii U comb Raptok Awesome! Kenshin0011 Good thinking Nintendo, I’ll probably check it out since I live an hour away from Austin Zorpix Hopefully it gives the advertising some horsepower 😉 Yuma Tsukumo I see what you did there.. Zorpix vroom vroom! Interloper I’m there. Sdudyoy I wonder if there will Pennzoil ads in the game? Snake Eater Be kinda funny Justin Ordoñez This promotion seems a little one-sided. I will definitely be buying Mario Kart 8. I will definitely buy Pennzoil if and only if it is the cheapest oil on the shelf. But Mario looks bad @$$ there. greengecko007 This is a good first step, but I hope Nintendo has more plans for promoting this game. Microsoft has been advertising their Xbox One Titanfall bundle quite extensively for a while now. If Nintendo doesn’t want to get left in the dust they need to advertise proactively too. Zorpix I wanna see commercials on every major network Tim van Broekhoven I wanna see big billboards on the roads! I wanna see ads everywhere! Dylan Clark lol i bet like 50 people will show up Gabe Hoffman They are actually going to have a real live race track complete with RFID enable vehicles and panels that affect your handling and speed as well as give you items Ducked Does anyone else think Nintendo should release a Red Pro Controller for the release of Mario Kart 8? Pinky Peach It would fit more if it was electric blue, hence the color of the 8 in the name and how the car’s wheels and the track’s road lines turn electric blue when going antigravity. Ducked True, but Mario is red. Although I’d love both! Josiah Parsons Better yet, a transparent electric blue like the box and the blue 8+antigrav wheels, which kinda glow. WolfgangAmadeusMozart You mean something like that ? http://25.media.tumblr.com/e243cbe9e7584bdf9d63623d0d9cb1fb/tumblr_mr8zppTr301qz9cdmo1_500.gif Troy Why don’t they do more character cross overs like Super Smash Bros? Like Diddy, Kirby, & Link in MK? Andrew Gonzalez hahah kirby would win every time 😛 00EpicGamer00 Just wondering, how would Link be able to race? He can’t ride Epona, well…because logic. A horse isn’t faster than a car. Also, just for a F.Y.I. Diddy (at least in Double Dash) is in Mario Kart. WolfgangAmadeusMozart Diddy Kong also appears in Mario Kart Wii as a playable character, so we can expect him to return in Mario Kart 8. If King Boo can drive a kart (how does he reach the pedals ?), Link definitely can too. NkoSekirei dont mock king boo or he ll turn u into a painting like he did with mario 00EpicGamer00 Believe it or not, but after I posted, I was going to edit and say Mario Kart Wii too, but I thought I was wrong. I haven’t played MK Wii in a long time. You have a point there..but Link’s never been in any kind of vehicle before. It’d take him an hour to just figure out how to start the car. Let alone drive it. WolfgangAmadeusMozart Virtually none of the Mario characters ever drove a car before Mario Kart. Saying Link can’t drive a car because he only rides Epona is like saying Mario can’t drive a car because he only rides Yoshi or Donkey Kong can’t drive a car because he only rides Rambi. 00EpicGamer00 Oh, yeah…I never thought of it that way. So, never mind. Link COULD be in the game. But, I still think he’d look out of place. But, maybe I’m wrong. Who knows? Putting Link (and other characters) in might be the best thing to ever happen. WolfgangAmadeusMozart You mean, something like that ? http://25.media.tumblr.com/e243cbe9e7584bdf9d63623d0d9cb1fb/tumblr_mr8zppTr301qz9cdmo1_500.gif MerryBlind . Kirby sure, Link just doesn’t fit in. Adrian Because this is effing mariokart not cameokart Hyper_Fuze Hey at least it’s promoting the game Pinky Peach Emmm… Sorry if I am goig to ruin the surprise, but the special event that will be held ther is…………………………… A FREAKING REAL LIFE MARIO KART TRACK!!! With a kart for people to ride and power-ups and everything!! You can go ride a Mario Kart kart(?) and race through a circuit resembling the design of Mario Circuits in Mario kart history. It will have power-ups, that will work as a speed boost, and track hazards, that will slow down you. And even there will be a shield that will protect you from the hazards!!!!! AAARRGHH! Why don’t I live in Austin!!? Anyway, if someone knows spanish and wants to read the source article, here it is: http://www.3djuegos.com/noticia/140851/0/mario-kart-8/circuito-real/juego-pennzoil/ MerryBlind . Mario Kart 8 NEEDS 5-players local multiplayer with a 5th player on the GamePad screen. That would be a killer feature which would convince a whole a lot of people to buy a Wii U with Mario Kart. Hell they should even make it 6-players with 2 GamePad! It’s about time Nintendo gives us a game that uses 2 GamePads. Besides, Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed already proved 5-players was feasible; Nintendo has no reasons. Also, 6-players local would be a good reason to release a bundle including Mario Kart 8 + RED GamePad for 125$ or something. COME ON NINTENDO, you can give tremendous momentum to the Wii U just with that! DO IT. GregoryTheRainMaker It’s something. Devilus What was great with Mario Kart died with the wii, I had hope for this one.. then I saw the video with using the wiimote as a wheel. Wont be buying this now. Remember Double Dash? with fit great exact and responding controls, fun competitive gameplay based on skill, not gonna be in this game due to “so everybody can enjoy it” line nintendo has been pushing these last years. Adrian I hated mk wii the first time i played as well. Then i learned you dont need to play with the wii wheel. You can operate mk wii with mote and nunchuck and it has a similar feel to the n64 controls. The new mariokart will likely allow multiple different forms of control as well. So don’t trip InterTreble Marketing, marketing, marketing, and again marketing. This is the only thing Nintendo is missing with Wii U. The only one. Miles “Tails” Prower Hopefully this will help the Wii u out.
