  • Compatible with all games supported by the Wii Classic Controller Pro
  • Compatible with all games supported by the Wii U Pro Controller
  • The button A, B, X, Y, L, R and Z can be customized with TURBO

This is a great deal for those of you still hammering away at Super Smash Bros. Brawl while waiting for the big Super Smash Bros. announcement expected to come at E3 this year. If you’re going to pick one up, let us know in the comments how well it works for you!

Yup ๐Ÿ™‚ Amazon, y u no ship to UK?

  • Note that Mayflash, the company that makes this adapter, also makes and adapter for NES and SNES controllers. I have it on order and am looking forward to trying it out soon.

    • Ace J

when you do try it out, can you post how many gamecube controllers can connect to it?

  • Rafael Saldana

My second favorite controller ever, first is the game pad and third is the n64 controller, made joy sticks, triggers and vibration so popular that every other company copied them, Nintendo #1 at innovation hands down

    • The purple gamecube controller

      • Mookymuke

Silvery gold controller that came with the windwaker Ltd pack :p

    • NeoTechni

All three existed before nintendo 64 got them.
You may want to actually check your history

what about wii remote are you freaking kidding mii !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im a huge gamecube / wavebird fan but please respect greatness nothing compares to wii remote vs second analog stick aiming and caming via a stcik is seriously retarded and wooden LIKE ROBO COPS HEAD

gamecube pad is a joy but second stick aiming and cam controlling belongs in YESTERDAY

      • Sam

Second stick aiming, whilst admittedly not as good as a mouse, is far, FAR superior to FPS aiming with a Wii remote. You have absolutely no precision with a Wii remote. And camera control? What camera control? Were you aware that part of the reason Super Mario galaxy exists on small planets is because it was easy for the camera to track the player i.e. they had to work around the fact that you couldn’t move the camera with a Wii remote

      • Sora Morp

Wii U and Wii games already support the Wii remotes what are you on about. Also wiimotes aren’t the greatest controller for aiming

    • disqus_Srej2O7Jfd

Yeah the gamepad and the gamecube controllers are great, but the n64 controller is horrible. Have you seen that atrocity?

  • Metal_Man_v2

This is something I might look into getting. I love the gamecube controller, and it is definitely my first choice for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, as it’s easier to execute the stronger attacks. It’s not that expensive, but I don’t have prime, so I guess I’d better check out the shipping rates.

  • AAAkabob

I don’t get it, how does it work, can you use more than one GC controller at a time? If not its utterly useless.

    • Jewelarchon

Well since it performs as a Classic Controller or Pro Controller would, then where multiple controllers would be supported so would these.

      • AAAkabob

Ahh I see it now, thanks

  • Morits Lian

    Be RIGHT back!

  • Squid

Does this work as a classic controller though? With awkward button controls due to that not being the right controller?
Update: I am an idiot and did not read the whole thing.

  • Shadriczo

The thing on my mind is that Will it be compatible with GameCube WaveBird controller?

    • D.M.T

Yes because its the same controller but wireless.

      • Kyle Reese

That doesnt mean it will work…

        • D.M.T

Yeah it does because the GameCube didnt know you was using a wireless controller. You still had to insert the Wavebird in a controller port but it works wireless.

    • Seth Callahan

Pretty sure it only works on wired controllers.

      • Mookymuke

Obv only work with wired controller as its an adapter and wireless cant be linked to it…..

        • Anthony K Aurelia

I see no reason for the Wavebird’s wireless adapter not to be able to be plugged into it…after all it is just a Gamecube controller port. The Gamecube didn’t know you were using wireless…why would this? I’m going to get this and try it when I have the cash.

          • Seth Callahan

Good point! I didn’t even think of that. Yeah, it should definitely work.

    • Lunatic

So you’re going to plug a wireless controller (Wavebird) into an adapter that attaches to a wireless controller (Wii Remote)? So every one of your signals needs to go through the air to the adapter, get translated into a Classic Controller signal, sent to the Wii Remote, then get sent as ANOTHER signal through the air to the Wii U?

No, but seriously, it’s already effectively wireless. You don’t need to bog down the system with a million levels of indirection and simultaneously waste 4 AA batteries.

  • Fred

Wait, works as Wii U Pro controller? So I can use it to play NBA 2K13 multiplayer?

    • Theoretically! I don’t own the device or a Gamecube controller so I can’t test it.

      • Steven

I ordered one, I’ll have results by late next week ๐Ÿ™‚

    • NeoTechni

      Or zombiu

    • Sam

I don’t see how as it only has one shoulder button, no home button and no select button (- button). Perhaps it just omits those functions

  • sdmac200600

Well guess who will be buying this before smash comes out? THIS GUY!

    • Squid

  • I got one of those a month ago. My gamecube is long gone but I still had one of those purples controllers. Works great with both VC games and VWii games.

  • Adrian

I would seriously doubt this product. I’ve never had long term success with a controller adapter not made by the original manufacturer of the console.

    • Seth Callahan

MayFlash makes quality stuff. I’ve been using their Classic Controller to USB adapters for over a year.

  • DVE

Woah Woah Woah! Even though I love the Wiiu pro Controller this is a must/plus for the new Smash coming out ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  • Dani

The question is… The analog triggers will work as analog? That’s a big deal!

    • Guhtere

But Gamecube didn’t have analog triggers, right?

      • Kyle Reese

Of course the gamecube had analog triggers.
They were also an extra button if you click it all the way down.

        • Guhtere

          Oh OK. Thanks.

    • Lunatic

This will register as a Classic Controller, which DOES have analog triggers, so I would think so, although I haven’t come across a game that actually uses the CC’s analog triggers. You can’t play GC games with CCs, and Nintendo made the triggers on the CC Pro and Wii U Pro Controller digital, so I can’t imagine what you’d be able to use them as analog for anyway.

  • Dominic Coradazzi

    …I need it. o.O

  • Guhtere

But how will this work if it doesn’t have two shoulder buttons, only one, and no clickable analog sticks?

    • Squid

The L and R barely have any different uses so I’d guess the Z button would be L and R while L and R on the controller are ZR and Zl

  • DemonRoach

Wii U doesn’t support gamecube games,…so yeah…fuck nintendo? But it looks like it will be USB and not required batteries! I’m thinking of buying this for Xenoblade…just ordered a copy off ebay..

    • MetroidZero

      *Mind Blown*

  • disqus_1F4cA1IGrZ

does anyone how many controllers fit into one adapter?

  • Noel Canales

But what if i still have a wavebird wireless game cube controller, my most favorite controller of all time? ๐Ÿ™ Sad FACE

    • Squid

Well according to the picture the thing looks plug-in. So I don’t see why that wouldn’t work.

      • Guest

I can say for a fact that you wouldn’t be able to play something like AC3 with a GameCube controller because it lacks those functions.

    • Lunatic

It plugs into a Wii Remote and is thus already wireless.

  • My gamecube controllers have use again!

  • Starfoxguy

Could this be a sign for gamecube games on the virtual console????

    • Mookymuke

Not really as its made by a company separate from Nintendo so they wouldn’t really know this :/ I hope though

    • Lunatic

If Nintendo actually puts GC games on the VC, I would think so, as long as they continue to support Classic Controllers for VC games. Do the new Wii U VC games support Classic Controller? If so, then yes.

  • LopsidedPasta

When I read this article’s title, Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” started playing in my head. I’m not kidding.

  • Johny

i think nintendo will do something about it anyways… i mean.. they KNOW how many people want to use gamecube controller , because.. well its an awesome controller. also we all know how big the community that wants to use GC controller with a SSB game is.

    • Evang3los

problem is. they cant make gamecube controllers anymore. Lawsuit. )-:

      • Gary

Actually Nintendo won the appeal so they were found to not infringe on the patents and are free to sell them ๐Ÿ™‚

        • Evang3los

Why didn’t I hear of this. Great news. Thanks

    • MetroidZero

    • I’m the one that bought the $13.99 one. sorry

      • Squid

I bought the 18 dollar one…^.^, Sorry guys.

      • but… but… I trusted you…

  • Infamizmikep

I’m wondering does it work with the GameCube WaveBird controller?

    • Lunatic

It’s already wireless. It connects to a Wii Remote.

  • I hope it works with Wavebird controllers,

    • Lunatic

It plugs into a Wii Remote and is thus already wireless. You shouldn’t use a wireless controller to beam to a wireless controller to beam to your console.

      • That’s for that. Was looking at the pic on my phone and it looked like and USB on the other end. Thanks!

  • Jonn McNally

The price bumped up to $17.99…

  • Austin Troth

If it only supports 1 slot I’m not interested, I could get 2 and have 2 GameCube controllers and 2 classic pro’s

  • Fuzunga

    1. Does it support the Wavebird?
    2. I don’t see how this could replace a Wii U Pro considering that has extra buttons.
    3. Playing Wind Waker HD with this would feel SO RIGHT.

    • Lunatic

      1) It’s already wireless (it connects to the Wii Remote), so even if it does… Don’t do that. The Wii Remote would be wired to the Wavebird receiver, so you will literally have a little circle of wires and receivers just… Sitting in the middle of your room not connected to anything, wasting power and causing lag.
      2) It won’t function as a Pro Controller. It’s connected to the Wii Remote, which can’t even connect to the Wii U when it’s doing things that require a Pro Controller. This will function as a dumbed-down Classic Controller with better button placement, but less buttons. It probably can’t even play NES/SNES games without a select button. I will confirm this in a day or so on Amazon when I get it.
      3) Wind Waker HD will most likely be optimized for the Gamepad and Pro Controller, and it is doubtful it will have Classic Controller support. Just play the original WW if you want the GC experience.

  • NeoTechni

Compatible with all games supported by the Wii Classic Controller Pro
Compatible with all games supported by the Wii U Pro Controller

How is that possible? They arent the same thing

    • Lunatic

Update: Oops, I misread your post. I thought you said that they ARE the same thing. You are exactly correct in saying that they are not the same, and thus the description is lying. Read on for my original rant explaining to everyone else why this is impossible.

No, they are confusingly named and entirely different. The Classic Controller Pro is a remodeling of the Wii Classic Controller. It plugs into a Wii Remote and works with CC enabled games:

The Wii U Pro Controller is a new controller exclusively for the Wii U. It is standalone and has 2 extra buttons (the clickable analog sticks) and CANNOT be used in Wii games played on the Wii U. Currently very little uses it:

The description is lying. The adapter plugs a GC controller into a Wii Remote, registering it as a Classic Controller, so it can function as one. They falsely claim that it can act as a Pro Controller, as most games that require Pro Controllers don’t allow Wii Remotes to be synced, thus preventing this from being used.

need new gamecube pad shouldnt have sold limited edition white pad

  • DutchNintendoFan

Does it support up to 4 controllers? Or only one?

  • Levi Johansen

    Best controller ever!!!!

  • Good. I don’t have $50 for an overpriced pro controller.

    • Lunatic

This won’t register as a Pro Controller.

  • Jopemi

Will this work with the wireless gamecube controllers (wavebird)?

    • Lunatic

It’s already wireless. It connects to the Wii Remote. You shouldn’t connect a Wavebird controller even if you could.

  • Lunatic

I just want to point out that the picture appears to indicate that it plugs into a Wii Remote as an accessory, NOT into a USB port. Thus, I would have to surmise that it registers as a Classic Controller, and will NOT work in place of the Wii U Pro Controller. I don’t care what the description says; other controllers have falsely made this claim before as well. Many games support both Classic AND Pro controllers, so for those this will work fine, but other games like ZombiU and (90% sure) Injustice do not, so the Wii Remote this is attached to won’t even sync while playing those games.

Also, the GC controller lacks a select button, a second shoulder button and a home button, so some games will not work properly. Anything on the Wii U VC should work fine since you can set the buttons, and N64 games would probably be good to go, but NES and SNES games that require the select button would not work.

On the plus side, you can presumably navigate the Wii menu with this (CC controllers can control the cursor), and it’ll make playing games like Brawl tolerable (albeit it’s still wireless, so I’d be afraid of a bit of lag). I ordered one and will receive it tomorrow, so I will leave an Amazon review bringing all this up when I get and verify all this.

Update: I found a better picture of it, confirming what I thought before. It accepts one GC controller, and plugs into a Wii Remote:
To those of you who keep asking about Wavebird support… Stop it. It’s already wireless, so you’d be beaming a wireless signal to a Wii Remote, which would beam another wireless signal to the Wii. It would cause stupid lag, and drain 4 batteries at once. Just use a regular GC controller.

    • disqus_hhvhOrP6LH

I just recieved the adapter I can happily say that it indeed acts as a WII U PRO controller, just got done playing Injustice with it. Unfortunately without a zL button you can’t do supers.

      • Lunatic

I still don’t think that is accurate. I tested on Friday, and Classic Controllers DO work with Injustice, so it could very well still mimic a CC.

I am getting mine today (was supposed to get it Friday, but UPS wanted a signature for some stupid reason), so I’ll do some tests. I have ZombiU and Trine 2, and I assume at least one of those can only use Pro Controllers, so I will try them out and see. Alternatively, I can probably just run a VC game and see what the button mapping screen thinks it is. Because seriously, it simply CAN’T register as both types of controllers.
