May 21st, 2014

I’m back, baby! Sorry I had to take a leave of absence last week for finals, but I’m back and ready to write!

Alright, so I’ve heard a particular cry ever since the Captain Falcon mini-game seen above was announced. “We need a new F-Zero!” “I want another F-Zero!” “F-Zero will save the Wii U!” Well I’m here to tell you what I think. Spoiler alert: you might not like what I have to say. Please note that this will be written pretty much strictly thinking of sales and Wii U game diversity, as opposed to how fun or good the game would be.

On the subject of racing

With Mario Kart 8 releasing in just over a week, I thought this would be as good a time as any to talk about Nintendo’s other great racing franchise. Do not get me wrong. I like the F-Zero series, I really do. But this is not the time — and quite possibly not the console — for a game starring the good captain.

Let’s just take a look at how many racing games are already out for the Wii U. We have Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed, Need for Speed Most Wanted, F1 Race Stars, Project CARS is coming out this year, and there are a few other indies who haven’t gotten release dates yet.

According to Wikipedia, there are a whopping fifteen racing games either announced or out for the Wii U at the moment. The console simply does not need another racing game at the moment. Especially not one made by Nintendo, the company that’s already releasing a huge racing title.

Captain who?

Another problem with a new F-Zero game is that not too many people know about the franchise. A few may know Captain Falcon from his escapades in brawl, but other than that, he’s a pretty niche character. If people see trailers for a new racing game, I highly doubt they’ll associate the two, and might pay it much less mind. Don’t believe me about the captain helping sales? Ask people who write children’s cereal commercials if having a relatable character helps sell a product.

But let’s say a new trailer does come out, and it looks amazing. It’d still only really be the racing fans who buy into it. Fans of other genres would feel rather left out. Even some racing fans who like more realism or more cartoonish racing won’t really be satisfied here, as F-Zero is at an awkward middle. It fits its own genre as “futuristic” racing, but not too many people are keen on that really specific genre.

Not to mention there’s still no confirmation of Captain Falcon in Smash 4.

falcon through the years

Let’s play pretend

Alright, so let’s assume Nintendo is dead set on an F-Zero game. No way around it, no excuses, no ifs, ands, or buts, F-Zero is coming to the Wii U. I at least have a few suggestions that I think would make it appeal to a bigger audience, as well as myself.

First, get everyone out of the cars. Have any of you played F-Zero 64? (Or whatever it was called.) They had like, 30 or so characters. That roster puts the Mario Kart one to shame. (Do we really need more babies or all of the koopalings?) Each one of those characters had some pretty cool designs, but you never really got to see them.

I say that the game should be more open world, and allow players to explore awesome space age cities. Almost like a futuristic GTA, if you will. There’d still be races and whatnot, but they’d work into this overworld that you can go out and explore.

And combat! For the love of God, combat! Captain Falcon is most known for his falcon punch, yet I’m fairly sure it’s never been used in an F-Zero game. This series has potential to be an amazing open world racing brawler. Combine the old Spiderman games with classic F-Zero gameplay and that’s basically the idea floating around in my head (No web-slinging, though).

I don’t know. It sounds cool to me, at least. What do you guys think? Let me know below!

Miiverse and Zorpix

I haven’t been terribly active on Miiverse recently due to finals, but I’ll still dig up some old posts for you!

Post text: “Roommate: Why do all your custom characters look like strippers?”

Game: Lego City: Undercover

zorpix lego strippers

Apparently, using the term “Strippers” is enough to get your post deleted on Miiverse. Oh well, at least they kept the picture for me! But yeah, I wasn’t trying to make them all look like strippers, it just kinda happened! Even the lizard ended up with a sexy shirt and whatnot… Oh gosh… I am so sorry, Miiverse. Sorry you had to see that…

Post Text: So much green!

Game: New Super Luigi U

new super luigi U green

I just really liked how much green was on the screen at the time. Especially in crystal clear HD, it all just flowed together so nicely. The bright greens in the foreground, the lighter ones in front, the green ring, everything just fit together. Say what you will about the game being a rehash of New Super Mario Bros Wii, it is absolutely gorgeous. This game was always fun to look at, and even more fun to 100%. Sure took a while though!

Wrapping up

If you do happen to have any suggestions for next week’s topic, any questions about the content I wrote, or just wanna say hey, feel free to sound off below! If you really feel inclined, you can mosey on over to my TwitterFacebook, or Miiverse account.

I’ll now be accepting friend requests on Wii U! I’m gonna need people to play Mario Kart with, so go ahead and add me! Let’s get this party started! Vroom Vroom!

Thanks for reading, and good luck on your finals!

  • Mithiragi

YES Zorpix. YES. F-Zero U (FU) baby!

  • Alright guys, I KNOW I’m gonna get killed for this one. F-Zero is the game the Wii U deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Have at me!

    • Mithiragi

YOU’RE DEAD! jk. But having F-Zero U could help increase the Wii U’s fan base because some people did enjoy the F-Zero games. Yeah Mario and Zelda sell more, but having a diverse lineup would bring in different people other than just the Mario, DK, or Zelda fanatics.

      • I suppose, but I feel like most people who like F-Zero are the hardcore nintendo fans who already have a Wii U. It’d be a great game, but I don’t know if it’d drive sales.

        • Mithiragi

Idk I’ve spoken to some fans on some forums who said they’d buy a Wii U if a new F-Zero came out. It probably wouldn’t drive a huge amount of sales, but in some cases, F-Zero has actually sold as much or more than Metroid or Starfox.

          • Well sure. Some people would, but I don’t think it’d get as more as smash or metroid. I saw tons of people saying they’d buy a Wii U for 3D world, but look how that turned out :/

Also, this makes me want to play the gamecube starfox games again >.>

          • Mithiragi

Starfox adventures was great. It’s different, but great nonetheless.

F-Zero definitely wouldn’t get as much attention as Smash, but it may just match Metroid’s sales, who knows. If you watch the video, he compares the sales of all the Metroid, Starfox, and F-Zero games. They’re pretty much all identical.

          • yeah, I’m watching it now. He’s making pretty good arguments. But still, I guess you just have to release a game and see how it does before you can fully know how well it’ll do. It depends on the game itself too

          • Mithiragi

Yep. Starfox and F-Zero both sold over 1 million copies in their franchises’ life cycles. Only F-Zero GX sold less than a million. I’m guess since it wasn’t really marketed and was hard as hell lol.

          • and the install base, like he says

          • Mithiragi

Yeah the gamecube had a very small install base as well.

          • so does the Wii U, too though.

          • Mithiragi

And that’s why lots of the games of the Wii U are not in the top 10 in sales most of the time. If the install base were to increase however, the sales of these games would rise as well.

          • yeah, I think bigger games like MK8 and such will make an opportunity for more niche games like F-Zero

          • Mithiragi

Yup. I really hope MK 8 drives the sales of the Wii U, so Nintendo can have a safety blanket to create more games that don’t sell as much as Smash, Zelda, Pokemon, or Mario.

I do like your idea of a new F-Zero though. I like the open world feel and the combat, having Captain Falcon finally being able to use his FALCON PAWNCH!!! in an actual game haha. It would definitely differentiate from MK so that people wouldn’t have to decide what to get between the two.

          • yup! I just think the two games need a bit more space between them is all

          • Mithiragi

            Yeah I think so too.

          • Crash Nitro Kart did it before mario kart though XD like, mario kart is almost a carbon copy of how CNK did it πŸ˜›

          • Mithiragi

Never played CNK haha. But I meant that this is the first time anti-grav has ever been in a MK game.

          • Oh I know :PI’m just being a hipster >.>

          • Mithiragi

          • TheBoldman67

Imagine it in an open world story, and in settings such as Mute City, and Port Town and Red Canyon, and in each city you could go to a place to enter the Grand Prix, where you can play four or five Grand Prixs, like, classic F-Zero, and choose from all of the racers. Also, they could add online to the Grand Prix, and the Grand Prix could earn you money, which you can use to get new stuff in single player. They could use cut scenes in the single player to help develop characters, so it can help you to get to know each of the 30 racers, which would be great, since you really don’t know much about any of the characters other than Falcon. It would be great, if done right. The action and open world may very well also help bring in fans of other genres. You should also be able to get out of the car, and wonder the streets of Mute City and Port Town, or pretty much anywhere. Sorry about the long comment, I was just sharing my ideas. I think this could be great, if done right.

          • Mithiragi

That is a great idea, sort of like Zorpix’s.

          • Brandon

wii u’s install base will NOT beat the gcn & dreamcast oh and the dreamcast sucks ass.

          • I… Ok?

          • TheBoldman67

And it was on the GameCube, which didn’t sell well either.

          • Mithiragi

Reason why it didn’t sell well on the gcn was because it had a low install base. Also, I bet more people would’ve bought it if it was marketed well and wasn’t hard as ballz lol

          • Brandon

            hes right zorpix!

          • Mithiragi

The 3ds Starfox was not a fair chance because it was a remake. Now if it was a new Starfox game, it would have a been a different story.

          • Brandon

and miyamoto expected us to buy it to or it will be the last in the series. screw you miyamoto!!!!!

          • Mithiragi

That’s crazy lol. A new experience should decide if the series goes on or not. Imagine a true Starfox game in hd, with online, on the Wii U.. Amazing.

          • Brandon

well guess what the remake killed the series!

          • Mithiragi

Not yet…Nintendo will give it one last chance!

          • Brandon

they won’t they said if the shitty remake sold well the series will continue on but since it didn’t sell at all the series ended at 64 3d

          • Mithiragi

We’ll see if that’s true at E3 or not. Can’t believe they would judge a series based on a remake though lol. I like your profile pic btw. That’s my favorite Mario Party. πŸ™‚

          • Brandon

the 1st game? yes mine too actually and don’t kill me for this but despite the 1st games issues I actually prefer mario party 1 to 2 & 3

          • Mithiragi

I’ve never played 1 and 2 so I wouldn’t know, but I’ve had a lot of good memories with 3. 3 is actually pretty rare I heard. They made it near the end of the N64’s life cycle.

          • Jon Turner

If not at E3 then at least a future Nintendo Direct. If STAR FOX happens, it’ll happen. Likewise, if F-ZERO happens, it will happen. Nobody knows WHAT’S going to happen. We’ll see. Personally, I don’t think it’s out of the question that either will be on WiiU, but nobody except Nintendo knows that.

          • Mithiragi

          • Brandon

no, actually NOT exactly. if f-zero never gets revived starfox should not either because 1. “james mcloud” has been in f-zero since f-zero X & 2. f-zero snes came out first LONG before starfox (snes)

          • Mithiragi

No one knows what’s going on at Nintendo except Nintendo man. You can state your predictions, but Nintendo is in charge here, and that is exact.

          • Docforexit347

No 3DS star fox was just like the OoT remake are you saying that Zelda’s dead because they remade on 3DS? Now as stated above there are already a ton of racing games for the Wii U but there are no legit simulation games yet, I disagree in this case with you

          • Brandon

zelda OoT on 3ds did way better than starfox idiot. f-zero>>>>starfox

          • Docforexit347

Now tell me this is star fox racing? I don’t see the f-zero>>>>star fox yes they are both futuristic but huge difference I reminder playing the heck out of multiplayer on star fox assault loved that game

          • Brandon

you missed my fucking point. I meant project cars is simulation f-zero is futuristic racing & starfox will NOT get revived as stated in one of my posts miyamoto wanted it to do well & it failed fucking horribly you are just in denial!

          • Docforexit347

seriously control yourself lol I agree with Mithiragi a HD star fox would be killer Also Star fox 3D was just a filler to get the 3DS going it no need to call it a failure

          • Brandon

it was filler because nintendo won’t make ANY more starfox games because the 3ds remake failed end of discussion!

          • Brandon

I have proof too why starfox will never come back: and combing that with it’s poor sales the series is fucking dead! get over it!

          • lonewolf

Lets not forget the f-zero gx fiasco when it comes to sales.

          • Mithiragi

It sold 650k, which was not that bad considering the low install base of the GCN.

          • lonewolf

22 milions small install base? Ok. But compare this title with the other flag ship titles of nintendo and how much they sold in the same time.

          • Mithiragi

22 million is not that big of an install base when you compare it to the ps2’s or the xbox’s. F-Zero wasn’t marketed at all too, and it’s hard as shit lol.

          • lonewolf

All f-zero were hard. It wasnt a failure but it did sold really poorly making nintendo to believe that the market doesnt want another f-zero game. But just compare how much fzero gx had with how much sells the other flagship nintenfo franchises on the same console had.

          • Mithiragi

Yes all F-Zeros are hard, but GX was exceptionally hard. The story mode was insane and the courses were really unforgiving.

Compared to other titles, yes, it didn’t sell as much. I wouldn’t consider 650k that bad though. And just because one game in the franchise didn’t sell as well, doesn’t mean that they will totally abandon it. The other F-Zero games sold pretty well.

Also, I really like Zorpix’s input as to what the next F-Zero could be like in order for it to differentiate from MK 8.

    • darkcreap

Hey man, which part of Super Luigi U is that? I have it and don’t remember that scene. It seems weird.

      • Oh gosh, I don’t remember… It was in one of the jungle levels. I think maybe the secret one on top of the vine?

        • darkcreap

Thanks, it is because I did not remember the cloud and everything. It has been so long that I played it that even the Yoshi seemed weird to me. I mean, too 3D. I guess it is that I finished like in 3 weeks.

          • yeah, it was pretty easy until the later levels. All the star coins were annoying though. And the secret exits too…

          • darkcreap

Ludwig’s castle was the peak in difficulty for me. I mean, all those thwomps… everything else wasn’t as difficult as that.

          • There was one at the end that was pretty hard. In star road. Can’t remember which

          • darkcreap

Ah, yes. It’s because I usually ignore star levels. I only play to beat story mode.

          • oh, I have to 100% it. every time πŸ˜›

    • greengecko007

Great read as usual Zorpix. I really liked your ideas on where to take the F-Zero franchise. Having a GTA style open world where you drive around in a futuristic city doing missions and the occasional brawl would be awesome, and a great way to differentiate it from Mario Kart.

      • yup! Glad you liked it :3 I just thought the series could use a bit of a fresh look

        • Liam

Im sorry, but that just sounds awful. F-Zero is a racing series. People buy it because they want to race. They tried the whole ‘lets shift genres and do adventuring’ with Star Fox Adventures, and, well, I rest my case.

          • Dampf

SF Adventures was the best Starfox. The others were lame space shooters.

          • Starfox Adventures was really fun, actually. And as a standalone racing game, it’ll be fun, but bland

    • JB

You make a very solid argument. I personally love the F-Zero series, so I think a new one would be awesome even if it was just an older one redone in HD with online play placed in the eShop. Afterall, they gave us Dr. Luigi and *no one* asked for that. LOL

Though one thing I’d *really* love to see from Nintendo is a Smash Bros esque Kart racer! I would lose my mind if they did one of those next console generation.

Oh and how did you do with your finals? Not that you’d actually want to spill the beans on here. HAHA

      • XD So far I have all As, so far so good!

yeah, I like the series too, but it’s just not the right time for one… But yeah, no one asked for Dr. Luigi :/ it looked fun though.

But yeah! I wanted that to happen too! D:

        • bizzy gie

Yep. Been getting 100s on the performance finals and As on the multiple choice ones.

My goal is to maintain my 4.0 GPA.

I’ll kick it into hyper active super serious ultra uber mega giga alpha omega sayan over 9,000 extra plus master mode next year.

          • I’m just going for a 4.0 semester. looks like this could be the one. I’d have a 4.0 if classes I don’t even need for my major didnt pull all kinds of BS on me

          • bizzy gie

That’s me too. I’m only trying to maintain a 4.0 for THIS semester.

Last day of testing is tomorrow.

          • good luck!

          • bizzy gie

            You too!

    • Joe

I would not buy it if it came out as I’m not a fan of racing games although I do enjoy mariokart with friends

      • exactly. Mario Kart is a good “With friends” game because it’s accessible. F-Zero, not so much

    • Sam

Alright. Here’s what I’ve got to say: 1. The N64 version of F-ZERO was called F-ZERO X. The two GBA games were called F-ZERO Maximum Velocity and F-ZERO GP Legend, and the GCN version was F-ZERO GX. 2. I agree that they should wait to release it. Way too many racing games right now. But, the console is the right one for a new F-ZERO. Just think of what they could do with the GamePad! Hold it up to the TV and rotate it to steer through tunnels going thousands of miles an hour! Exhilarating! And in glorious HD! Now, about people not knowing about Captain Falcon; that might be partly due to no new games for a while. One thing they should do is have bounty hunter missions as DLC. That way, they could breath new life into the series without ruining what the series is known for. And Captain Falcon has always been a hidden character, so there’s no reason to confirm him or Ness for that matter.

      • I’m still worried about him and ness in the game. Captain Falcon I think will make it, but Ness I’m not sure, since we haven’t heard from Ness or Lucas…

    • Phoenix Maybe

How could you? THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!
      Just kidding.
But seriously that idea for a new F-Zero is pretty cool; though Nintendo would probably want to make as many Mario and PokΓ©mon games as possible, since they are their most known IPs.

      • Come at me, Phoenix. ;P

yeah, they oversaturate mario… I’m not really complaining, but it’s nothing to get excited about

    • “Sean” jjbredesen

I really want a new F-Zero, and GX was one of the best racing games i have ever played, but i agree with you that when looking at it from a business perspective, it is not likely to happen :/

As always great article, i have my final exam tomorrow, so i am of to study!

      • Glad you liked my idea about the open world!

Yeah, it just doesn’t make sense that it would happen, so I think getting excited for one is kinda moot

        Now go study πŸ˜›

      • Magnus Eriksson

        Lykke til πŸ™‚

        • “Sean” jjbredesen

Takk, takk Norsk skriftleg :/ ikkje det beste faget Γ₯ komme opp i xD

    • MetroidZero

    • Zach Cruz

I agree it’d conflict with Mario Kart sales at the moment, Give it a year or two then release F-Zero or Better yet Star Fox.

      • yeah, I’d prefer Star Fox next year, then F-Zero down the line

        • Brandon

meh, fucking idiots both are good but starfox fucking died I’d rather have f-zero. πŸ˜› If that never comes back then neither should starfox.

    • crocodileman94

    • Agent721

Alas, you’re right….I still love F Zero though! But racing games are not the big sellers they once were. The last few Forza games on the Xbox have not sold well. You’re idea of an open world have attached to the races? That I like!

      • TheBoldman67

There could be an area in each city, where you go to enter Grand Prix with any of the 30 characters, and enter single races and multiplayer ones. And the open world with a story would work well because it could introduce characters to the player, and help them know the 30 racers in the line-up. It’d also be cool to be able to exit the Blue Falcon and wonder the city.

      • I was trying to expand ideas in the series, and thought it fit well. Glad you agree πŸ™‚

    • simkenno

Totally right Zorpix. Pokemon is the game Wii U deserves right now. πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚

      • Pokemon MMO. No less

        • Brandon

considering the creator compared wii u to smartphones, rumble u is the only pokemon game wii u will ever get.

    • Sean Jarret

You obviously never played F-Zero GX on gamecube. F-zero is the only racing game I’ve ever played with a great & compelling story.

      I will miss it.

It won’t ‘save the wii u’ – anyone who can look up past sales can see that… but open world is NOT F-zero (just like Star fox adventures was NOT star fox) – it’s about tight, hair-thin, gravity-defying tracks you play at breakneck speeds. It’s about challenge and being good at both racing, destroying your oponnents and surviving the track, it’s about silly interviews and end-movies if you win.

None of this would be able to be as tight or versatile as GX in an open world environment.

I really recommend to track down the gamecube original and play through the story mode.

      • I’ll admit it. I have not played GX. I should give it a go, I’ll admit. Maybe it’ll change my mind

    • Daniel

I think F-Zero GX under a gamecube VC with added features such as online and second pad integration would be just fine for this generation.

    • Clel

I personally have never played F-Zero, but I do feel that the main reason Captain Falcon is famous is actually because of Smash Bros, with the iconic, FALCON PUNCH!

Otherwise, great article and very well written, Zorpix. You make great points πŸ˜€
Good to see you writing again.

      • yeah, that’s really the only thing he’s known for.

Glad to be writing again! Had to take a mini hiatus, but I’m back!

    • Andrew W Garttmeyer

I agree, F-Zero sure would be cool, but perhaps not right now. Although, if Wii U was doing as good as we thought it would…and Nes didn’t suck balls at a bunch of stuff, THAN would it be OK to have this now?

    • MujuraNoKamen

      Zorpix you’re a genius!
Damn right F-Zero would be great but it’s not going to be a system seller and we’ve already got racing games to be going on with so it’s not necessary right now πŸ™‚
But damn that’s a great idea! a futuristic open world game with awesome high-speed racing. That’s a really unique idea and a great spin on the genre[s]
It might seem strange jumping from brawling to racing to exploring but being able to do so much is better than doing one thing and it’s why GTA is so respected.
The racing could be the main draw of the game (obviously, it’s F-Zero) but you can go around the city doing side-quests – Captain Falcon is a bounty hunter right? they could work that in some how πŸ™‚ These side quests unlock customisation options for your car, there can be leader boards and how about some RPG undertones?
oops, got carried away again πŸ˜€

      • I don’t know if I’d say genius, buuuuuut I’m glad you liked my opinion πŸ™‚

Exactly. Captain is a bounty hunter. USE THAT

  • Kaleb

Honestly I think that Mario Kart Killed F-Zero, the popularity between the two is a huge gap. I want Star Fox personally.

    • Yeah, I would attribute Mario Kart to F-Zero’s fall.

New Starfox needs to happen though

      • Daniel Carvalho

That’s pretty much what Nintendo does: something doesn’t go as planned? Use Mario. We have so many Mario sports titles that any chance of another IP being utilized gets almost completely overwhelmed by it. Whatever you want to do, Mario has his own game for it, or took it form another franchise.

I do want to see a F-Zero game on WIi U, but taking in consideration what you said (which is all true, I didn’t know there were so many racing titles for the console), I guess the best time for it to come to light would be in a few years from now.

But I believe we can see a Star Fox, Punch-Out or Ice Climbers coming for the HD console, as long as Nintendo doesn’t come up with Star Mario, Mario Climber and Mario-Out…

        • New Super Mario Puncher Wii U Deluxe HD!

          • Daniel Carvalho

I can see Nintendo launching a Mario U that’ll overshadow the Wii U…

          • yeeeeahhh

      • Kaleb

I really want Platinum to do it, the action would be crazy good! I know it would work so well on WiiU!

        • We’ll be lucky if Kamiya ever agrees to it at this point

          • Kaleb

I know, it’s crazy how many people will constantly request things from game developers. Let them do what they want and you’ll get a great project, force them into a project and expect to be disappointed. The way it is for me, if it happens it happens.. I’m just sitting here waiting for MK8 as well as many other games that have me on the hype train.

          • Yeah, it’s sad how idiotic most consumers seem. I’m sure we all get like that sometimes, but some of the ones on Kamiya’s twitter are just abysmal.

I’m waiting on MK8 and so many other things :3

          • Kaleb

I’m really looking forward to E3, I think Nintendo has a lot in store , overall I’m pumped

          • I’m tentatively excited

  • AlienFanatic

There is only one game the Wii-U needs right now that would spark sales and that’s a full-fledged Pokemon RPG (preferably an MMO). Yes, it would go against virtually everything Game Freak has done for years, but it is perhaps the one game that could spark interest simply because it’s never been on a home console before.

A new Metroid, Star Fox, Zelda, and F-Zero would be nice, of course. And there is a significant need for more Wii-U software. But there have been numerous iterations of each franchise on every hardware platform. Each time they’re released, they’re usually good if not great titles that bring nice, new pieces to the puzzle. But it’s been a very, very long time since any of them have been a “killer app” that moved the number of systems Nintendo needs to move to get Wii-U back on track.

Pokemon. If you like, they could go the Skylanders route. I’d love to see them include some augmented reality elements so that players could capture Pokemon in their own environment. Even better, tie the 3DS to the Wii-U so that you could carry that AR experience wherever you go. You’re in Arizona? Desert Pokemon. Hawaii? Tropical pokemon. You can find water pokemon in your bathtub or a fish tank. All of them could be brought back to the Wii-U and uploaded for online game play. (Think vs. battles, team play, co-op adventures, etc.)

It’s the one franchise that if Nintendo were to really, really push hard could move both Wii-U and 3DS hardware like no other. Can Nintendo even do it? I have no idea what their agreements with Game Freak involve, but I think that a Pokemon AR/NFC/MMO game could make Skylanders’ earnings look like chump change.

    • yeah, I’ve said this before too, and I really agree. A full pokemon MMO like people have been begging for for years would save any console Nintendo put out. It baffles me why they haven’t done this yet

      • CommanderBlue

I wouldn’t say it needs pokemon but it needs a game with pokemon’s selling power. In my opinion pokemon should stay a handheld title the same reason smash bros for the 3ds shouldn’t exist. If you have 2 platforms that will share several ips then both of them need those 1 or 2 exclusive ips(with high selling power) that would differentiate the platforms and give people a reason to own both.

        • I’d say the only thing with pokemon’s selling power is pokemon and maybe Smash

          • CommanderBlue

I know pokemon on home console would be amazing. Can you imagine riding an arcanine or surfing on a lapras in hd? I doubt that dream will be fufilled anytime soon. I’d take spectrobes as an alternative if disney ever chooses to make one for the wii u and greatly improves origins battle system.

  • I don’t care what Miyamoto thought of F-Zero GX, for me it’s been one of the greatest videogames ever created and I’d love another take on that franchise from Sega and Nintendo. Actually it felt so great, I wouldn’t mind if it was just a HD remake of the Cube game.

  • Potemkin

Didn’t read it all, but short answer is yes. The Wii U desperately needs all the help it can get.

  • Jasen Swett

What’s you’re miiverse name zorpix. I’m gonna be getting Mario kart 8 and just like you need friends to play

    • It’s Zorpix! I link to it in the article as well :3

  • Roadkill409

F-Zero was fun on the SNES when it came out. But I have not played a single F-zero game since. Although I am sure they would be fun. But maybe another day might be the day for a futuristic racer like F-Zero.
But, at least for now, It’s time for Mario Kart 8 to shine, (and maybe a little Sonic Racing Transformed too).
    Happy Mario Karting

  • AlienFanatic

To the topic at hand, I’d only want an F-Zero that tried something entirely new. Sony’s already going the re-hash route and bringing a Wipeout game to their PS4. The Wii-U doesn’t need another hover racing game, especially when it probably wouldn’t move that many units.

However, there is a lot of nostalgia for characters like Captain Falcon. Why not create an adventure game with racing elements that puts Falcon in a story with racing stages breaking up other first-person action elements? Combine a parkour-style action game (think Mirror’s Edge crossed with Street Fighter) with Metroidvania exploration elements.

Allow players to discover new and hidden parts for their hovercraft. Then let those players battle other players online in racing competitions. They could then take upgrades they win online and apply them to their single-player ship for their in-game racing missions.

Nintendo should stop going back to the well for what worked before and take their older franchises in new and fresh directions. As-is, I don’t think F-Zero has legs. But if you combine online game play with single-player, story-driven adventure and you might just have something.

    • Agreed. I want something that tries something new

    • abe

There was anime thingy about captain falcon. I’d gladly play an captain falcon bounty hunter game.

Nintendo should look at Luigi’s mansion for future games, different genres in existing universes. An star fox RTS, and FPS set in metroid universe staring the bounty hunters.

With Nintendo now open to licensing it’s time for their franchises to be expanded. Captain falcon action game made by platinum games anyone?

  • Magnus Eriksson

Hmmmm… I want it a lot. But its too late in the cycle. An early title could hook on some core gamers along with ZombiU and the Alien game as it FUCKING SHOULD HAVE BEEN!!! But now they could probably do better on prioriting other stuff. I hope the new Fast Neo Racing will come soon btw. Where is it? Maybe bring back FZero from GCN or something?

  • audi lover

Basic answer yea f-zero and Mario cart cream the rest of those games, only 2 racing games you will ever need, GameCube version was great and was released quite close to double dash, complain if there’s no games complain if there COULD be a game? What’s the point?

  • Officer Raichu

yes f zero should be revived but with a new twist
captain falacon is more like a cop and drives around the city hunting down baddies
it could have tastes of gta and forza
    rated m

    • Eww that’s not F-Zero. Keep Nintendo franchises as far away from the generic crap that is GTA.

      • Officer Raichu

whats wrong with new twist to the formula
im not talking about going to bars(might work) or strip clubs(that ll just be anti Nintendo)

  • anthony optimo

Why not redo both F-Zero GX and F-Zero AX in HD and re-release in a single game for Wii U?

  • Mario

Gou make an interesting point. -_-

  • RockieOllie

“Not to mention there’s still no confirmation of Captain Falcon in Smash 4.”
We ALL know captain falcon is in the game. Sakurai even mentioned him in an interview

  • condor87z

Never been a fan of F-Zero, but it has a large enough fan base that they should make it, or release one for the virtual console.

  • Cyrus Malachi

I would love an F-Zero game on the Wii U (my favorite IP from nintendo since snes) just for the online racing, because i have not found anyone who can beat me in those games yet. Im undefeated in all of them. Would the game sell? yes. Would it push hardware sells? no more than what starfox would. But even Nintendo said no to it unless they can come up with something new for it. A greater emphasis on a story could help it out. What Nintendo should really do to appease the fans is just remake the GX version in HD while adding online and miiverse to it. Less production time, less money invested and fans would be happy. Everyone wins.

  • Casey

Why is no one asking for Pilotwings on the WiiU??

    • condor87z

      ^ this.

    • Not to sound harsh, but who gives a crap about that. Its shovelware.

      • Casey

I am glad different people have different opinions. But back in the day, this game was amazing, and I for one would love to have another one.

      • condor87z

Well the 64 version received high praise. Not sure why you would call it shovel ware.

        • Brandon

          pilotwings resort? πŸ˜›

          • condor87z

It got a 71 on meta critic I wouldn’t call that a bad game.

          • Brandon

            the fans say otherwise.

          • condor87z

Some fans might but majority of fan reviews online around around the 7.5 mark, making it not a bad game.

          • Brandon

            I don’t care! πŸ˜›

          • condor87z

Well I can’t argue with that retort.

          • Brandon

screw you i’m done talking to you! reported!

          • condor87z

            Haha funny.

        • I never even knew it was around back then…I thought the Wii one was the first one. I just don’t see it as a good title, to me its the same as Wii Sport, Wii play and all that.

          • condor87z

Well they actually never had it for the wii besides the virtual console which was the snes one. But I do agree with the Wii sport and Wii play…we don’t need anymore of those.

          • Casey

I was talking about the SNES version. Damn, I am old, but Pilotwings showed off the Mode 7 from the SNES and was one of the first open world/3D type games. Opposite of shovelware.

      • Denvy

I was under the impression that the original Pilotwings was quite good. At least that’s how I remember it. Was it highly criticized?

    • Derek

Pilotwings would not convince very many hardcore gamers to purchase a Wii u. Nintendo needs to focus on hardcore gamers right now.

  • daeglyth

    I vote no on a F-Zero.

  • Jason

Never played an F-Zero game, but I think the reason why Nintendo doesn’t care for it anymore is because Mario Kart is similar, and it sells more units. I like your alternative F-Zero idea, I don’t think Nintendo has explored that genre yet, so I could see it happening.

P.S. I sent you a friend request. My Miiverse name is Jason17.

  • So what if Captain Falcon hasn’t been revealed for Smash Bros yet? Neither has Ness or Jiggly Puff. They are in the game, the original 12 will always be. Either those 3 will be revealed at E3, or the will remain secret characters after the launch much like some where in brawl and melee.

  • blindtiger

i think they should just release a cheap download only fzero on the mario kart 8 engine with antigravity, online play and release new tracks periodically as dlc. keep it simple yet functional and strictly for the old school fans (who else would want it anyway?).

  • Zuxs13

Um no it shouldn’t we should continue not having new games..

  • Allvalve

I would love a new F-Zero. Nintendo should test the market first with an HD update of GX. It still looks good today and would look even better at 1080P. Make it a budget title, say around Β£30, and if it does well move on to a new game. If it doesn’t nothing really lost.
In terms of what they could do to freshen it up, I think it would be good if you could morph the car during the race to suit the conditions, e.g using the touch controller to make it more aerodynamic on the straights using a basic pinch motion that people love on their tablets, or more robust when in a pack of other racers at the detriment of top speed and handling, which would be a novel way to use the pad, something Nintendo are trying to do.

  • ZeldaFan83

No. While I would love to see it, it would be pointless with Mario Kart 8’s anti-gravity feature. Maybe in 5 years it would make a good fit and even then would they be able to do anything with the game pad that they didn’t do with MK8? Probably not.

  • truMADDness

I personally would love to see a complete remake of Mario 64. Completely redone with a whole new and extensive script along with voice acting. All the levels and some new. Just Mario. No Peach or Luigi. Or anyone else for that matter. I think that would do allot for the Wii U. If course the game would be called Mario U. I know there’s allot of Mario games already, but is there too many? I know I can never get enough!

  • Casey

What the Wii U needs is not a new game to sell it, but a game that makes the Wii U control pad seem amazing. There has yet to be even one game that does that. ZombieU had some cool stuff, but nothing revolutionary. It needs a game that make people say “wow I want a controller with a screen so I can do X also!!” F-Zero is not going to accomplish that. Mario Kart is not going to accomplish that. Even Zelda is not going to accomplish that…or maybe it will? Why buy a Wii U other than it being an HD Wii? It has an amazing controller with a touch screen like the popular iPad. OK, what can I do on it? Nothing of any significance yet…

    • really good point. I can’t see F-Zero doing anything cool with the pad that hasn’t been done before

  • Noah

most of the people that want an Fzero U, already have a Wii U. no?

    • Bingo

    • Mithiragi

Maybe, but I know some people who are willing to wait till a new Starfox or F-Zero comes out, to get a Wii U. The games right now just don’t appeal to them.

      • Noah

I’d bet those are the minority, not deal-breakers for the Wii U.

        • Mithiragi

Maybe so, but it would still be a good idea for Nintendo to diversify the lineup. It would expand the audience. Some people like Sci-Fi adventure-Metroid, Futuristic Racer-F-Zero, or Space Shooter-Starfox.

  • Sam

  • Brandon

I vote yes I want f-zero on wii u more than starfox! starfox can die in a fire after that remake for all I care! WHY CAN’T WE HAVE BOTH!?

  • nintendope

I want to have a MOBA on the Wii U, I want play my character with a controller and have the minimap on the game pad, when I need to unfix my camera to me just push on the game pad and also have the option to push for alerts. Do you guys think having LoL or DOTA (or Even a new Nintendo IP as a MOBA) on the Wii U will help drive sells? because I do.

    • nintendope

Actually, Have the right stick to also move the camera around for fighs, and have a designated button to fix the camera back to you character at all times. Oh man.. I’m already hyped for it ><

    • DereX

if enough people buy that swords game tomorrow and harass the makers, they may release awesomenauts on the wiiu.

      • nintendope

I really want awsomenauts on the Wii U.. I think I’ll buy. Swords and soldiers just for the possibility of that happening D:

      • Brandon

a big, well known indie game? get outta here! πŸ˜›

    • condor87z

That would be awesome. I bet it would do quite well considering those games are free, plus the game pad would be awesome for those games.

    • I always thought Skylanders would make a good MOBA, if they genre-bent it

      Kay, I’ll go home now

  • Moyack

At least I want a sexy HD remake for F-Zero GX πŸ™

  • Jon

yeah, the Wii U could use it but…. not right now. Maybe next year it would be a good racing installment but with Mario Kart here on Friday, we don’t need F-zero to be shadowed

  • Brandon

They finally released the hyrule warriors release date, but only for japan. Its coming August 14.

  • Darkness

If Nintendo were smart they would make F-Zero. They won’t though, they prefer to not sell many Wii U consoles and not care what fans they have left want.

    • Hyde Gaming

And what happens if they do make it? what happens if people don’t even buy the game and it has low sales? were all gonna blame nintendo when cleary its fan who demand the game but don’t buy it….that just a slap in the face to the. I want a F-zero, Metroid and starfox more then anything else; but lets be real here…sales talk bigger.

      • Darkness

They need to TRY. You can’t give up without trying. I know for a fact that game would sell! People having been wanting this game to come to Wii U but Nintendo doesn’t pay attention to what the fans want. In your eyes they should just continue to make weak games no one care about I take it.

        • Hyde Gaming

Mario, Zelda and Pokemon are not weak games, whether you want to believe it or not they sell nintendo consoles so people do still care for them. Also past sales for F-zero, Starfox( Dunno about Metroid) beg to differ. Look at the sales for F-zero back on gamecube, that enough is the reason alone why nintendo doesn’t want to make another f-zero. Im not saying they shouldn’t listen to fans…but at the end of the day nintendo is a company that needs a profit.

        • Hyde Gaming

Mario, Zelda and Pokemon are not weak games and the sales for them prove that people still care. They give nintendo sales, Despite so much demand for games like F-zero and Starfox the install base is really small whether you want to believe it or not. Hell they’re’s a shit ton of people who don’t even know what these games are; and if you look at past sales it shows why nintendo does even bother making them. Im not disregarding that they shouldn’t listen to fans cause they should…however if fans fail to give the game sales expectation; it would only give the initiative for nintendo to stop making those games. Now if they fanbase proves me wrong blows sales expectation out of the water(Which i want them to) then i will kindly take back what i said.

    • I don’t think it would sell consoles

  • wiimenonowiiu

They need capt falcon on the wii u thats all i played on nintendoland lol well and zelda and mega man lol but thats why they need this game on wii u help ppl know were he comes from and most racing games on wii u sux i only have sonics lol cmon mk8

  • Rinslowe

I’d like to see how Fast Racing Neo is shaping up before deciding that one…

  • andrewjcole (aka Sean – lol)

Great article, Zorpix! Totally agree! I’ll have to get you a friend request before you have too many. I’m planning on getting the game soon, and I’m known to have luck for getting the gold mushroom! I’ll be @Sam on Miiverse, NNID “tipsandtricks”.

  • Derek

I would welcome my first f zero game but I think the Wii u needs something that appeals to a wider audience right now.

  • Jon Turner

If Nintendo thinks they can sell F-ZERO on WiiU, sure, they’ll do it. It depends on what they want to do. Personally, I’m not so much into F-ZERO; it’s fun and fast. But it’s more of a pleasant rental series, not a must-own.

Having said that, before we ask such questions we need to make sure WiiU gets into mainstream. Only then can we make such requests. Good thing MK8 releases next week.

  • steveb944

Finally someone acknowledged Project Cars on here. I feel like I’m the only person with a Wii U that is uber excited for it.

I agree with regards to the Cap’n, very niche market that would only oversaturate the racing library on Wii U. Maybe in a couple years it could release.

    • I’m super excited to see how it turns out

  • HorizonChaser

Nintendo needs to revive F-Zero franchise, but I can see it more on 3DS than Wii U. However, if not this generation console, then the next definitely needs F-Zero as a launch title. I think Mario Kart 8 with its anti-gravity is going to be close enough to F-Zero that buyers will shun F-Zero on the Wii U as an MK knock-off.

  • FutureFox

Not for Wii U. Its just too late in the dev cycle. By the time they’d finish Nintendo will unveil the next console.

    • Nookling

It’s only two years old? Should last a good 5-6

      • FutureFox

Don’t you mean 3-4 years given that its already two years old?

        • Nookling

          I meant in all

  • Sdudyoy

Don’t kill me for saying this, but I’ve never played a F-Zero game, so I honestly don’t know why people like them so much, but the do look fun.

    • FutureFox

Don’t feel bad. There are people out there who don’t even know what Star Wars is.

      • Sdudyoy

I’ve never watched any of the Star wars movies before either.

        • Brandon

Now somethings wrong with you. Lol

        • condor87z

Well at least you know of Star Wars.

        • well hey, same boat

  • Nookling

Not to mention even it most people who had a U bought it, that still wouldn’t be much and the low sales might make Nintendo afraid to make another

    • Mithiragi

That’s the problem with a low-install base. Hopefully MK 8 fixes that.

      • Brandon

it’s not getting bigger why? price cut people wanted, mario 3d world & dk:tf were supposed to move systems and guess what? NOTHING HAPPENED!

        • Mithiragi

That’s why MK 8 is so important. MK Wii was the best selling game on the Wii. Hopefully MK 8 will be the same case for the Wii U and move more systems than SM3DW and DKCTF did.

          • Brandon

and mario kart 8 will do NOTHING and wii u will lose to xb1 because consumers are fucking idiots.

          • Mithiragi

How are you so sure that it will do nothing? Nobody can predict the future, but have a good feeling that will not be the case. Nintendo has been advertising MK 8 a whole lot.

          • Jon Turner

It’s not just the marketing either. I’ve been hearing reports from friends that people are just going NUTS for a MK8 bundle on the forums. Given that the game is also consistently on the charts on Amazon (it’s been consistently at #1 in Japan on Amazon over there), I absolutely find it dumbfounding that ANYONE can say that MK8 will fail in its attempt. Lots of people WANT this game. A lot have been waiting to buy the system for this. And the way Nintendo’s marketing this is nothing at all like SM3DW or DKC:TF. This is what I call exposure. So while the only thing that can predict the future is history, there’s no chance in heck that MK8 WON’T do anything for WiiU. This is a bonafide system seller.

          • Mithiragi

It’s from all that aggressive marketing man. Nintendo worked hard to show how awesome this game is. After seeing all those trailers and directs, my friends are so excited to get a Wii U and MK 8. They’re also so amazed by how beautiful it looks. Nintendo even marketed MK 8 in racetracks and (gasoline stations I believe). They even demoed it across thousands of gamestops across the US.

They made sure to spread the word about MK 8, and it looks like it’s paying off. Definitely the best looking Wii U game out there. May 30th can’t come soon enough.

          • Jon Turner

Having said that I have a feeling that people are still going to stubbornly say that MK8 will fail miserably to do anything and that pS4 will run WiiU into the ground and crush it. I don’t believe that personally, and I feel that the hype for PS4 may begin to cool after awhile, but I already am feeling the pressure from people preparing to say “WATCH DOGS and pS4 SLAUGHTER MK8” no matter what.

          • Brandon

watch dogs in not going to slaughter mario kart 8….. the kinectless xb1 is going to kill mario kart 8. trust me wii u will end up dead last! it’s a sure thing.

          • Guest

You really expect me to listen to a single word you say? I don’t believe a word. You don’t even know for a FACT what’s going to happen. History will tell the story, not you.

          • Mithiragi

Don’t fall into the pressure then. Believe what YOU believe.

          • Brandon

“May 30th can’t come soon enough.” and nobody will care for mario kart 8 at that point because it took way too long.

          • Jon Turner

Indeed. And seriously, if nobody is going to care about MK8 or buy it then why is it charting consistently high on the Amazon charts? If anything, I have a feeling it’s going to be HUGE. Also, Kinnect-less Xbox One crushing WiiU? No way.

          • Mithiragi

Nintendo has put so much effort into marketing and into the game itself. Indeed, I believe that this game will do wonders for the Wii U in the long term if not in the short term just because of its title, Mario Kart.

          • Brandon

and yet nintendo is marketing europe more than america and mario kart 8 will sell like fucking shit in europe just like how the original wii got outsold by the 360 in europe because, fucking europe sucks.

          • Brandon

yet wii u will be dead last because consumers are fucking idiots. look at the ps4 it will beat wii u because of fucking hype… THAT’S IT! as for the xb1 trust me thgat shitty thing will kill wii u it sold way better in the same time frame and now wii u is dead.

          • Mithiragi

Because it’s Mario Kart? Literally every person I know says they want the MK 8 bundle and nothing else.

          • Brandon

well preorders do not mean anything like I said before also this game should have released WAY earlier in may. but now everyone just gave up on wii u & do NOT say look forward to e3 2014 because the last good e3 from nintendo was e3 2010, & all the software they showed flopped. (other m, kirby’s epic yarn, goldeneye wii, ect….)

          • Mithiragi

None of those games you mentioned are as big as Mario Kart though. And just look around man. Everywhere you look there are ads for MK 8. People know about this game more than all the other Wii U games combined. This game will sell systems.

          • Brandon

It won’t. it will sell as well as the crappy gba game hands down. nobody will care anyway about mario kart 8 anyway cause it came out FAR too late.

        • Mithiragi

Also, people think the Wii U should be cheaper but it’s cheap enough. It currently has a better lineup of games, with some great games coming out this year as well. In addition to that, it’s $100 less than the PS4 and Xbox One. And if Nintendo did lower the price of the Wii U, they would be selling at an even greater loss.

  • I hope Nintendo make another racer for the wii u after mario kart. Either f zero or another one. Nintendo has a pretty good record of making racers. I’d quite like a stunt racer FX sequel or a decent 1080 sequel that uses the n64 original as inspiration and is nothing like the awful arcady mess of avalanche.

    • condor87z

Man stunt racer FX…what a great game.

  • jhell

Yeah F Zero GX should be a remake for wii u

  • cutiepie786

Great article, Zorpix! Totally agree! I’ll have to get you a friend request before you have too many. I’m planning on getting the game soon, and I’m known to have luck for getting the gold mushroom! I’ll be

    • I won’t run out of friend spaces anytime soon πŸ˜›

I shoulda made a separate “Zorpix MK” account for my mario kart adds. Oh well. Woulda coulda shoulda. Now I get to interact with the community every time I turn on my Wii U. I like it :3

  • I’m still stuck on level 3 on Story Mode for the Gamecube version :/ freakin difficult! lol

    • With that said, I would still love to see them come out with a new one. It’s a lot of fun.

  • Pablo LavΓn

Let’s change the old F-Zero concept to someting like that but mixed with Road Rash πŸ˜€

  • gerb1977

F-Zero has never been my thing but the more games the better. Every quality game released is another reason for someone to consider buying a U.

I like the idea of open alien worlds to explore. Allowing the game to be a racer with extras. Give me a reason other then racing and I may pick it up. After MK8 and Project Cars, I really don’t see myself buying another racer this generation.

Next write up should be 101 crazy predictions guaranteed to happen at E3

  • iamserious

It would not hurt to have one more racer for Wii U. This one would have a more mature vibe to it so that’s good too. However, Nintendo does not need this for the Wii U RIGHT NOW. It needs games but obviously Mario Kart 8 can satisfy the people who want a racing game for now.

  • Iflywright

I want an F ZERO game where racing is a small part of it. The majority of the game would be daily life of your character–when you’re not training you’d be dealing with gangsters, fighting bad aliens, sabotaging your rival’s car, space gambling, bounty missions with the ability to place bounties on other racers… In other words I want to see F Zero expanded well beyond racing.

  • Nintenjoe82

You’re crazy, there are not enough racing games on Wii U, especially futuristic ones. We don’t have a clue when FAST is out.

    • C4

Site still says “Coming 2014” πŸ˜‰

  • devmiles

    first of all, duuhhhhhh!!!!

2nd… absolutely not in a nintendoland way… shit sucks balls.. do it like the gamecube one, that was good and also sega was involved.

    • Brandon

*cough* *cough* amusement vision not sega did all of the work *cough* *cough*

  • C4

Well a) yes I never understand why publisher not push their IPs & characters that way. A *good* spinoff expanding to other genres isn’t a bad idea b) it still needs solid racing game elements especially track design where F-Zero GX excels and good balancing and progression + of course online racing. In a nutshell kind of replace F-Zero GX’s story mode with something more substancial. Wether that should be GTA-like, Zelda-like or Animal Crossing-like + Smash-like fighting I can’t really say but IMO games like Lego Marvel or Infamous kinda are good “superhero games” concepts so many of the F-Zero characters would fit into that kind of game.

  • ICHI

I think F-zero is part of what the wii u needs right now. Nintendo reps have been out and out stating that wii u is back in the console war which means games like F-zero need to be announced. Maybe not for you, but the Nintendo fans who abandoned the company during the wii years, the ones who just play on their gamecube still rather than buying a wii u, need to know they’re being catered for. GX/AX still is one of the best games Nintendo has produced and is universally loved by the arcade collector crowd and gamecube nuts as much as it is by any racing game fan who likes a challenge. Let’s hope Nintendo doesn’t read this silly article.

    • C4

I can only see it gaining popularity to be honest. Don’t hide content behind hard to do stuff (how many % of players even know the AC cars and tracks are ingame unlockable?) instead make most rewards unlockable over time, also F-Zero from my experience doesn’t fit that well to splitscreen (especially playing with / against people who are not good with it) so online would give it another boost.

  • Usaamah

Commercial: Opens with ‘Show me your moves’, then Falcooon Paaaunch! as Captain Falcon stands in the middle of the screen, the Punch flares up the screen, and then we see footage of the new F-Zero game, anyways a new F-Zero is hardly already developed waiting to be announced at E3, it’ll take years to develop, by which time MK8 will have been out for years, so I don’t really see how half of your article is even relevant.

  • candyisgood

I don’t think F-Zero is totally out of the question, but I totally agree that at this point, it’s not on the horizon, I can’t even imagine F-Zero has been mentioned seriously at Nintendo for a while. Mario Kart killed it on accident, just based on popularity. Although I’d be shocked if the series was full blown dead, I’m sure we’ll see another one someday. I wouldn’t discount it for the WiiU either, even if it’s a while from now.

  • So fifteen is enough now? Besides, most of those are just eShop-only indie titles. There’s hardly ANY racing games out for the system that are actually worth buying. An F-Zero game would definitely be worth buying.

    • Brandon

this people this is what I’m fucking talking about & the fact project cars is a self published downloadable only game.

      • Actually, Project Cars is going to be retail. That’s a cross-platform game, remember, and luckily the developers are treating the Wii U version at the same standard as the other consoles’ versions, not just making it a nerfed port like every cross-platform game that was released on the Wii.

        • Brandon

proof? OH that’s right you DO NOT have ANY proof, because it’s self published=downloadable only game I was told it was download only. -__-

  • Ken Krumbach

Fzero sucks the controls are terrible the music is bland and Captain Falcon could have been switched up with any other Fzero character for Smash 64 and people would have liked them just the same because they would have been the same character.

  • Lee Skilton

Extreme G? That was great on n64. Way too fast for my retinas but still great!

  • NPeart

I would buy a console for it.

On other hand I would like to see it in 3d, but on other hand, local 2 player would be awesome on Wii U.

And level/decal editor should make it perpetual fun machine on either platform.

    • Brandon

“I’d like to see it in 3d” no thanks the last thing i want is another crappy f-zero game like maximum velocity the only good portable f-zero game was f-zero climax. and that was a japan only game.

      • NPeart

That has nothing to do with anything I said.
