Mar 15th, 2013

In January we told you about the release of Zen Pinball 2, which was scheduled to be available at the end of the month. The game was eventually released in Europe, but the release date came and went for those of us in the United States without so much of a word. Finally, Zen Studios have broken the silence to let us know that the game will be available on March 21st.

As with the European release, the initial game will be available for free where you can try it to see if you like it. Then, if you’re interested in purchasing more tables to play, you’ll be able to choose from several different packs, including:

  • Zen Classic Pack featuring Tesla, El Dorado, V12 and Shaman
  • Marvel Pinball featuring Spider-Man, Wolverine, Blade and Iron Man
  • Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles featuring Marvel’s The Avengers, Infinity Gauntlet, World War Hulk, and Fear Itself
  • Marvel Pinball: Vengeance and Virtue featuring X-Men, Thor, Ghost Rider and Moon Knight
  • Individual DLC Tables: Excalibur, Earth Defense, Sorcerer’s Lair, Paranormal, Mars, Epic Quest, Plants vs. Zombies, Fantastic Four, Captain America and Civil War

Are you stoked that the game finally has a release date? Let us know in the comments below!

  • I haven’t played a video pinball game since Raster Blaster on the Apple II (anyone remember that gem?) but these tables look awesome. Day 1 purchase for me.

    • RyuNoHadouken

actually, I do remember that…lol…im old

    • Fred

I remember playing Kirby’s Pinball land for hours and hours

it’s been out in Europe for some time now and I can tell you now that it is a cool game. Fantastic 4 is easily my favourite table. I heard that a Star Wars table is in the making. Can’t wait for that beauty.

  • Having played Pinball FX on XBOX I am excited for this game. This is a game I can pick up and play for a short period as I do not always get a long time to play a game. So yes I am a bit excited

  • AlienFanatic

I’ll definitely buy when they have the Star Wars tables, but not before.

  • Man, the hits just keep on coming for the Wii U!

Your wasting your talent on this site mate, you should be doing stand up or something lol

Looking forward to purchase Zen Pinball 2’s tables at the eShop. Thanks to Nintendo of America for approving it for Zen Studios. March 21st, here we come!!!!!!

These look awesome, and I’m thrilled there are demos of all tables (unlike the OSX version, where you have to buy to try new tables).

I’m also looking forward to Pinball Arcade from Farsight Studios, who have promised a Wii U version, although no word on delivery there.

Aside: Thrilled to see this story on this site — great job! Joystiq still hasn’t picked it up yet (at least not on their RSS feed).

  • Mr. Nick

Finally! Will def. be getting this.

  • Only a few are true gamers

This looks awesome . My deaf uncle would love this

  • GermGerm

    It’s about dang time!

  • kaeyoss

    Definite recommendation!

Plus, you can try out every table for a short time. Not enough to find all the secrets, but to see if the general tone is to your liking.

Can recommend the classics pack, the Avengers pack, as well as Epic Quest and Sorcerer’s Lair. Oh, and Mars

  • Lusunup

can someone please explain, why different regions around the world have different release dates? Surely it doesn’t have to be this way.
Makes me so mad I live in OZ sometimes. May just pack up and move to Japland. I envy those guys right now.
    Anyways…..please explain.

Regional coding, translations, changing content to suit the region it’s being release in, using different voice actors, licensing in different regions, etc..

    • dgallo911

being a fellow aussie i hear ya, but we have had this game for a long time and sure it looks good but its still just a pinball game….

  • D3Vortex

So looking forward to playing this game. Wii u Rocks!

  • Zeldatrek

I’ve enjoyed video pinball since Midnight Magic for the 2600 and it was the first game I’ve ever played so yeah Zen is the first downloaded game I’m buying for the Wii U.

  • John Madsen

    Great news but!!!
After the issues with the european version where it wouldn’t recognize it’s own dlc tables and same in japan i will wait until i see a functional version of the game with no dlc glitches before i download
