Zelda Wind Waker HD is very, very close to release. Nintendo has revealed some additional details about the game on the official website. Wind Waker HD on the Wii U will take up 2.6 GB of disk space as a download, which isn’t much compared to games made these days. Wind Waker HD will also require an additional 30 MB for save game storage. Other technical details reveal 5.1 surround support, and full 1080p compatibility. Furthermore, players will be able to play the game using the regular Wii U Pro controller. As revealed earlier, Wind Waker HD will have a higher difficulty setting for those looking for more challenge. If you’re a newcomer to the game, we recommend taking a look at the official game guide as well. So much better than a digital copy David Kumapayi You cant replace it if your disk break but a download will always be linked to your account even if you delete it 🙂 greengecko007 Are they? I don’t remember them updating that. That’d be great though. Guest yes…..WRONG Brandon Betlej Where did you hear that from? Because your wrong InsaneZucchini No. You’re wrong. Unless you have some warrantee on the game and it breaks you have to buy another copy. If you delete the game from your Wii U, you can go back into the eShop and redownload it again later. If they said you could redownload it on another Wii U, he would be wrong. But he didn’t. Accounts are not transferable between Wii Us, which is why downloads also cannot be transferred to a new Wii U. The purchase is however still linked to the account it was purchased on and can be redownloaded whenever needed. Brandon Betlej If its linked to your account why cant you download games you purchased already on a different wii u? That makes no sense Mykdee nintendo hasn’t worked that out yet. the problem is several people sharing the same NNID, and all buying games on it, and downloading all of the games to their consoles. it will happen eventually, it has to. Falcoxcalibur man of faith. InsaneZucchini Because their accounts are tied to the Wii U. Nintendo is still behind on that, they haven’t created a unified account system where you can transfer them between Wii Us. Hopes are that with the update to the system where we will be able to purchase games for download on the Wii U and 3DS through the PC or smart phones that this will be rectified. thedeciderU nintendo needs to fix that. i hope it will come with an update. they are behind, like you said. Ford Crews Because Nintendo has decided you can’t, it’s a crappy policy, and one they need to change, asap. Falcoxcalibur No, it is linked to the console ONLY. NintendoNoob But I still get to molest- I MEAN LOOK at my hard copy Clel They aren’t, I really wish they were though. Falcoxcalibur Sorry but, wrong. Games are tied to the console, not your account. If you want to buy another Wii U, or if it breaks, you lose everything. Mykdee i agree i love hard copies, but i wish they would offer a way to rip it to a HD. similar to the 360, but without having to put the disc in. i would really love to not switch discs like digital, but still have the hard copy…i know that gets difficult in piracy-related ways. but there are ways around that too Stuart Thomas I understand piracy concerns, i really do. But i had over 40 wii games all bought for around $50-$60 a pop and i ripped them to the hdd. All my discs are immaculate for this reason only. Cd-key would be a good idea, where the key can be unregistered and registered to your nintendo acc if you plan on selling/trading the game. I hate the idea of keys but there is no other real option i can think of. Mykdee unless the disc has its own ‘number’ or identity, that the console can recognize and link to your nintendoID like you said. but then that would require console connectivity, and not everyone likes that idea. I really think it would be an awesome feature though. on a side note it looks like the downvote trolls are out of their cave. Arthur Jarret You know, blu-ray discs (or, as nintendo calls it, “proprietary disc format”) don’t really scratch anyway – unless really mishandled and used as a coaster (like many a Aliens: Colonial marines PS3 disc). I’ve seen people rub blu-rays with a key and it came out fine and without scratches. I wouldn’t try it… but still, it is much more scratch-resistant than blu-ray was (which, in turn, was much more scratch-resistant than CD) bizzy gie Yes, but then you wouldn’t be able to sell, lend, trade, borrow games. tomtank91 that’s called DRM Mykdee yes but it doesn’t need to be taken to extremes. it could be a voluntary DRM registration with the option to deregister the title, and sell/trade/give away. ScrewAttack I’d trust Nintendo to implement it in a good and consumer/user friendly way waaaaay more than M$, that’s for sure! I prefer hard copies though, it’s nice building that gaming shelf up for each console, being able to admire it and enjoy the box art as well as the game inside. thedeciderU hell yes have you heard of bit boxes on stonagegamer.com? i may order a few for my nes collection of carts. they look awesome. reviewtechusa did a review recently. ScrewAttack Oho nice! They’re incredibly cool, that sounds like a wicked idea to me! Hope they do some for N64 titles. thedeciderU yes, i just picked up the ninja gaiden cart at a local store today. it’s in great shape and i can’t believe they had it! definitely will be bit-boxing that, mario 3, blaster master, super mario/duck hunt, castlevania, little nemo the dream master, adventure island, mega man 2, metal storm, double dragon II, code name: viper, and a few others. i’m going to track down a zelda cart and a couple other essentials before i order. man, i used to have sooo many more original cartridges and manuals. i wonder where they all went… i hope they will be doing snes games – i have a bunch of those i’d like to have on the shelf too. right now everything is in a storage tub. thedeciderU if that could work it’d be awesome to launch any game from the menu, keeping discs/case immaculate. i am incredibly careful with my games and consoles. annoyingly careful even to me. then, if i wanted to sell a title, i could just de-register. nin-10-doughfan you can have a hard copy and then purchase digital copy! thedeciderU and then go bankrupt! Pikachief I gave you an up vote for the tasting comment. grandlx2 We get it.. you like it hard. RoboticLink I see what you did there! NintendoNoob Best part, it never gets soft xD nin-10-doughfan yes, it is different if you have something t hold on to! (it feels more complete) Mercurio2054 my sister have 3 kids, and 4 times buy one single game. she now know (6 month later) about eshop. RockieOllie They don’t call them HARD copies for nothing Orto Let the fony fan boys hate this! Well then fony trolls step up and take ure swipes bcoz nothing can touch us when we are playing the wind waker, one of the best games of all times. I call upon all nintendo fans to do the right thing. We need to do the same to ps4 daily as what their fan boys have done to us. Launch a full scale attack on the ps4 daily comments and bash the ps4 into the next realm. Treat them commenters like they are ganondorf and hold nothing back. thedeciderU i like sony and have a wii u. what does that mean for me? do i need to gtfo? Orto Fony lovers need to get of this site. There is a site for you people called ps4 daily where you can mix with ure own kind and discuss how bad of a taste in games you have. thedeciderU so in your logic since i don’t only like and support nintendo (which i very much do) i have no business enjoying the articles, content and community on this site? i like sega and own sega games and consoles too, and even a 360 and some games, and pc, and the list could go on. keep in mind, there is absolutely no sarcasm in tone while i will ask you again: do you really think i need to “get of this site?” i don’t even care about your spelling error. and no, the down vote is not mine. Arthur Jarret … Instead of hating on sony, just try to play some of their top rated games – and realize there is no need to choose a side. You can enjoy both consoles! As long as you hate microsoft and all that they stand for, you’re still a good person. thedeciderU microsoft sucks. i got a 360 as a gift for games like left 4 dead series because my laptop is old enough it won’t run smoothly, most of my friends have it, and we all wanted to play online. also far cry 3 was a really solid game and fun experience, as was tomb raider reboot. there’s no side picking, just enjoying the games… but apparently that’s not allowed here. Arthur Jarret No nintendo love? Well, sorry – your opinion is not valid here! Hehe, seriously though – I haven’t played a single console that didn’t have at least one game I loved. For microsoft exclusives, Fable and Alan wake are amazing games, and… well, I havent played much other exclusives, so I really couldn’t say. I liked tomb raider on ps3, though! I do dislike gold to play online… I’ve spent some time with it back when I still had roommates, but I really didn’t see the added (paid for) value over psn or the current nintendo network services – but hey, to each his own (and I mainly play single player, so it’s no big deal anyway). Magnus Eriksson Ill probably pick it up for my PS4 just to get it in better graphics. Andreas Sunde Just when I was starting to miss your “trolling”, there you are. Good to have you back! Dude. Baha. I like you. zzzzz Sony just announced at their Wind Waker press conference that it will be a PS2 exclusive only. Too bad. I would have preferred it on PS4 too. Magnus Eriksson Nice! At least it got more shaders on PS2 than on Wii U 😀 Johny haha i like this comment Clel Aaaaah… good to have you back. My eyes still hurt from the horrible trolls lurking around. *hugs* jcnba28 Hi sony pony! Jonathan George Anaya Why the PS4? Do you want to stream Cable to your new PS3.5? The X1 is where all the Big Boy games are 🙂 But, have fun with your Lackluster launch lineup. I’ll be playing first party titles like Killer Instinct, Forza, and Dead Rising 3 on Day One david jarman Don’t forget to talk to it!!!! Josiah Parsons Yum, Plastic! Fred am I that much different from everyone else. I prefer the digital copies. In fact, I have 3 discs on my Wii U (Nintendo Land Scribblenauts and Tank TAnk Tank) only because Best Buy was doing buy one get one half off and I regret doing it. I’d gladly trade all three discs and $20 for the digital copies of all 3 games Rugmouse I’m with you, sir. Digital is very convenient in my opinion. I just love my ala carte menu of games on my game pad. No need to mess around with discs, swapping back and forth. I, for one, play several different games each night, depending on who is online, at home, or if I’m playing solo. Changing discs every time I want to play something new is a hassle! Fred agreed plus I’m out of storage space it’s full of dvds, blurays, 3D blu rays, PS3, Wii I don’t need Wii U also. That and my kids are rough on discs and I don’t want them lost or stollen which won’t happen to these digital copies Razo_E I love digital copies. I love just pressing the home button and swapping between games. People want super advanced consoles, but they still worry about cleaning/storing/losing/scratching discs from the 1980’s. It’s baffling. Falcoxcalibur Problem is, the games are tied to the console. If it breaks, there goes your investment. And before you say you have great customer service in U.S.A, let me tell you, it’s not the same in other parts of the world. Adrian I’d get a digital copy if it was 50% off from the hard copy. :). Until then, always hard, all the time! Eduardo De Almeida Raposo Source: ゼルダの伝説 風のタク You missed the last katakana 😉 Marcus Navarro That’s…much less than I expected. Guest That is 8% of the Wii U’s total memory. Mykdee $70 will get you a good 1TB HDD, to supplement the WiiU’s SSD. You could store nearly 400 copies of Windwaker HD on that. A lot of people just have a HD laying around, but if not they do not cost very much. sharlo galmo This game looks so nice…. readypembroke Even though I have never played a Zelda game, I will most likely rent this with Skyward Sword. Have SS number 1 on Gamefly list BUT they sent me Conduit 2 which was NUMBER 8 on my list! Merrfn I am not going to lie. Nintendo screwed up in terms of Wii U storage space. But at least they made it possible to use third party storage. 2GB is nothing, but other games take up loads of space. My one terabyte hard drive sorted that out for me though. greengecko007 The only thing Nintendo screwed up was, as always, getting the word out that external storage is compatible with the Wii U. I love the fact that Nintendo doesn’t make me pay for storage I don’t need, it’s one of the few things they did right with the Wii U launch. But they should have done a better job informing consumers that all the miscellaneous flash drives they’ve accumulated are compatible with the Wii U. Baum 「ツリー」 good Point, but shouldn’t it be obvious for the People, that are planning on digital copies? greengecko007 You have to really spell it out for some people. C4 While they are at it, they should also tell people what a “Wii U” is. sharlo galmo I am happy that Nintendo ‘don;t do it like the other company’s. Cause now you can use storrage how you like it. This is waaaay better then what the PS360 had, replace a PS3 storage is difficult and is not cheap. Andreas Sunde You can use an external HDD on PS3, but it requires formatting, or the PS3 won’t recognise it. The Wii U formats automatically. sharlo galmo Yes i know but can you play games from it? I watch movies from a hd om my ps3. But you cant play game from it like the wiiu did Andreas Sunde I haven’t tried yet, but I did some googling, and I think it’s possible. Not sure exactly how, though, seems a bit convoluted. Mark Yes, of course you can. I put everything big on my external hard drive and it works. jay Nintendo chose flash storage which is about 8x more expensive and 8x more reliable and very very fast. If Nintendo had a 500GB flash drive you would be paying about $800. Nintendo Xtream awesome thats not much RoboticLink That’s a lot less than I thought, but I like a physical copy, it feels better for some strange reason… C4 The smell when you open the box 😀 Negatron99 Was hoping for something larger. Given the 25GB size of the discs. 2.6GB is nothing. Not far the maximum size of the GameCube discs. I presume the Disc copy is the same size as the download copy, nothing extra? Also, gonna have to get a surround system that supports 5.1 LPCM now. More expense, gonna cost me about £500 when I’m finished. Wow, it’s getting expensive this Wind Waker HD, along with all the other stuff coming out. Andrew Chambers Can you really expect more? It is a re-release of a GC game. It’s not like other hd remakes are much bigger. Baum 「ツリー」 Andrew’s right. Even a game like Monster Hunter was smaller than 5gigs, it’s the same with all ports/remakes of older games and/or handheld games ^^ Andreas Sunde They could use the extra space for a soundtrack :3 Or nah, that should be on its own disc, like Skyward Sword. RoboticLink Looks like Downvote’s back… Pikachief They are? Baum 「ツリー」 Wii U Daily’s really fucked up… I enjoyed the comment section a few months ago, but as ironical as it sounds it got worse day for day since Knowledgeiswhatsup aka the troll-king left/got banned. He was annoying as fuck, but it was fun watching him and Nintedward bashing each other 😀 But it seems, that even he’s gone for a while now -.- RoboticLink I have to admit, some trolls are actually kinda fun to listen to, but I just can’t stand Downvote. There is just something about him that I can’t stand Baum 「ツリー」 As Long as he’s just silently downvoting us it doesn’t matter, but his stupid conversations with himself are annoying ^^ RoboticLink That’s exactly how I feel Orto Look every person on the internet believes that they are ‘real’ gamers becoz they praise the fony corporation and their gaming antics. Bashing us and other fan bases seems to make them happy as we all know that the true gamers are the people that ignore fony games and play what the hell they like. I have dedicated my life to huntings down fony supporters across the internet as they are the worst type of fan boy. I will one day find the fony king and bring this whole episode of fanboyism to a brutal end! thedeciderU acting like that only makes you look more, how do you say it: “fony-ish”? The Clockwork Being Agreed he came back as truthteller but then left. jay I like beating the crap out of him with facts. Clel Guest100… and Orto really piss me off too. If you’re getting sick of them and have Brawl or MKWII, we could play together lol. Baum 「ツリー」 Got both 😀 I just recently started Brawl from scratch though, so I don’t have my favourites yet ^^ Clel Yay! I’d love to play with you. I’ve only been getting good at Brawl/started playing very recently, as I’ve been ‘training’ with a couple Internet buddies of mine. Also, I don’t know if you noticed… GUEST1000 GOT BANNED!! HURRAY! Baum 「ツリー」 (y) I’ll try to tell you on Miiverse when I’ve got time for a bit online action 😉 Got a lot of stuff to do this week, because I just graduated and have a whole damn year to fill with smaller jobs until I start studying 😐 Clel :O Congratulations! You can also just e-mail me at email@example.com Jon you know, I don’t understand why people bother bringing this up, who cares. they are trolls, not talk to them, don’t even make a new post just to say “oh look, they are here” just ignore, they’ll go away. Clel Don’t treat him like he’s famous! Baum 「ツリー」 Sounds pretty neat 😀 I already expected to be a bit smaller since there wasn’t too much added from the GC game. Maybe that’s my first download (Because I KNOW, that I won’t get my Hands on the hardcopy with all the Zelda-Nerds here, where I live xDD). Also: Wasn’t 5.1 Surround Nintendo’s new standart for their exclusives? Hell, I’m really looking Forward to playing it with my new home Cinema Setup :3 RARE I wanted a digital copy so Id have it forever…however, after seeing the box art I want the physical copy Jon I have mostly physical copies and they are lasting for ever for me. I have like 20 NES games and still work like new. I just clean them like once every 4 or 5 years. Just depends how well you take care of them RARE Oh yeah. I mean I don’t intend to sell it, I just meant being able to have it on my WiiU menu displayed like a trophy. SonicLucario Im gonna get the hard copy anyway. I like the gold cover 🙂 Justis Bistawros I always like to buy the physical copy of a game itself. It makes me feel like i have more than one game than just downloading it i dont know if you guys realize but there are so many amazing games coming to wii u,every piece of space counts. Nothing against people who like to download. Madmagican That’s actually not that bad for a Wii U game, I’ve seen bigger on 3DS games ‘course it IS technically still a Gamecube game :/ Mykdee that actually is technically a false statement. Baum 「ツリー」 maybe he just meant the game’s Content itself 😉 Wind Waker got programmed with HD textures, so they technically had everything set up for a HD release (although the console couldn’t handle it) There are some Videos on Youtube, that Show Wind Waker running on Dolphin at 1080p and it’s not that much different from WW HD (of course except the new shaders, shadow engine and some other of the smaller tweaks) Mykdee i can promise you, it is much different then this release. i’ve played the GC version on GC & dolphin. ya the resolution is better on dolphin, that is it though. The WiiU version is an entirely different animal, and to say it is not much different than the GC version is ignorant. Baum 「ツリー」 Ah well I’ll believe you 😀 As I said (or not, sry) I just saw the Videos and I also didn’t see the HD demo life…Youtube often Fails to Show how something Looks like, but there were some side-by-side comparison too. EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5OpXf4Jq1Y Mykdee ya i’ve seen what your referring to, but you will see what i’m talking about when this comes out in October. Even the little bit of content we’ve seen so far, is WAY better than the Dolphin version. like comparing Halo to Halo 4. Baum 「ツリー」 Okay, then just let’s wait 😀 I hope we’ll remember this and don’t Forget to talk about it, when we’re able to see both “life” xDD CyanideInsanity Not necessarily. From what I can see from trailers, its an HD port with better shaders, and probably better textures. If they built it from the ground up, or heavily modified the engine, you are correct, but if they did just port it and inject shaders its pretty much the same. Looking at it on GC with an enb via dolphin, you get similar effects, and could probably tweak it to fully mimic WWHD. http://enbdev.com/enbseries/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1680 Mykdee it is remodeled. rescaled. re-paced. how can you mimic that with tweaking. it is not a HD rerelease ‘w/ better shaders’. nintendo has outright told us that. there is a lot more going into this remake than you are aware of i’m afraid. CyanideInsanity But how much is actually changed? All I’ve seen that appears changed is windfall, which is still fairly close. http://www.eggplante.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/WindWakerHD1.jpg Everything else looks pretty much the same. If you pause the trailer when link changes the wind direction, his hat blowing in the wind still has the same jagged edges. Another good shot for his hat is when link is about to run off the cliff chasing after the helmaroc king when he takes Aryll. This is all from my perspective; I can’t outright tell if textures or models have been improved unless I can see it from close up, save for when it IS drastically different. Mykdee you cant tell me they simply increased resolution, and have better shaders. besides these were released 7 months ago, and we know a lot has changed since then. CyanideInsanity From those images I can only see new shaders/lighting, clouds, and the lack of width stretching due to 16×9 support. Mykdee ya you’re right a few tweaks in Dolphin, and it would look identical using the Gamecube version………. Hairee Pothead Because of backwards compatibility, The Wii U is a Tri-Core version of the GameCube with tacked on shaders from an Ati Radeon like Wii was an upclocked GameCube. All 3 systems have IBM Power PC CPU, ATI GPU and a Macronix DSP for sound. While programmable texture shaders may be new on the Wii U , Wind Waker HD is still running the original physics engine, AI Engine and sound engine from the original GameCube ROM natively on the Wii U cause of the past 3 Generation of Nintendo TV Hardware share the same chips and just slightly improve’s them each Generation. (Upclocked or Multi-cored) Nintendo4life I will download this Zorpix My hard drive laughed and closed this page by itself. Clel I would soooo go digital if Nintendo let you link up games to your account. TheGamerGeek128 Makes sense, the original DID fit on a Gamecube disc, after all. RoboticLink I know, those discs were so tiny!! RoboticLink Hey Wii U Daily, is there any more info on the new original Zelda game or Miyamoto’s new IP? Deadpool U Or maybe news of the possible Wii U Pokémon game? bizzy gie Why not 7.1 surround sound? thedeciderU please understand… RoyRelapse And for those who are wondering about details for The Wonderful 101; -It will take up 12.9 GB to download. -“8MB or more” for the save game storage. -1080p output, 720p native resolution. -Controller support : WiiU Gamepad, WiiU Pro controller, Wiimote + Pro controller. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/acmj/detail/index.html here is the source. Keyser Ok just to be perfectly clear: 1) Budew is not a troll 2) You are by far the most annoying person on this site (yes, more than downvote & co) 3) Everything you say is either completely irrelevant and/or insulting and you say it like a thousand times! Half the comments on every page are from you! Take all the downvotes as a hint and please stop ruining this perfectly good site. Derk I am pretty sure that is the same person… Orto, Guest100, Downvote, Upvote. It’s all the same person and it is better to just ignore him because the dude is crazy. Merrfn I actually genuinely believe they are all different people. Downvote and Upvote may possibly just be role playing, and are same person. They are all crazy but Orto seems to have a decent capacity of intellect in his spelling and sentence structure. Guest1000000000 seems like a 12 year old kid, who is desperate for social acceptance. They all have different styles of writing, and how they form there sentences. Nonetheless they are all stupid idiots. Clel I get this feeling that upvote and his alts is one guy, and downvote and his alts is his irl friend. Clel It’s really hard to ignore the 50+ disqus notifications I get from him, but yeah, that’s probably the best way. Metroid 33slayer How much disk space did the wind waker on a gamecube take up? CyanideInsanity About 1.4gb Mochlum Man, that’s nothing! This is a Day One download for me, mostly because I know I’ll enjoy it (it is Zelda, what else can I expect?), and I really don’t like the NA boxart. So excited, now we just need a price and release date to set it in stone. Also, I think Nintendo should start a digital preorder system so you can pay all of the money for a game on the eShop, and the moment it releases for download, the Wii U downloads it. Jared Garcia It’s still larger than the original size. Those GC discs only held like 1.5 gig. High definition and surround sound must’ve taken that space. Hairee Pothead The GameCube and Wii has only a 16 bit 81MHZ Macronix DSP that could only fake surround sound with Pro Logic II. The Wii U has a 32 bit 120 MHZ Macronix DSP. With 32 bit precision and upclock there enough power for true surround sound. uPadWatcher 1080p, 60 fps, PCH 5.1 digital surround sound = INSTANT BUY!!!!!! thedeciderU this may be a stupid question at this point (so please excuse if it is), but how have you hooked (wired) up your wii u to such a sound system? Baum 「ツリー」 I just connected everything to my TV and it works fine ^^ Martijn Plasmans The thing is that the Wii U doenst support Dolby,. Only LPCM. Very few audiosystems support that because the most only support Dolby. poo I wonder why they had to add AT LEAST 1.1 GB of information Clel HD takes up more space. MrBuney DDP = $5 back to me, plus Alaskans get $0 tax so I save $10 by digital copy, cant wait Deadpool U I was getting physical copy anyway mainly because I like how the Wii U optical disc edges feel so sleek it’s a little therapeutic. Captain7484 . http://www.nintendolife.com/wiiu Check this website out for the Wonderful 101 review!! Captain7484 . Wonderful 101 gets a 9/10!!! Show support for this title!!! oontz only 78 out of 100 on metacritic. Still a good score though Captain7484 . I would save this site for more up to date WiiU news!! http://www.nintendolife.com/wiiu MiiMan Will be able to play using pro controller? Fabulous. Simply fabulous. Martijn Plasmans Yes you will. Daniel Gonzalez It’s not a whole lot of space, unless it’s talking about the basic console. Everyone else I’m sure has an external drive for such games. Besides that, this isn’t a large game, though 30mb saves sounds quite big, even for this gen. Chris Stoffel 2.6 GB isn’t that bad, especially since you can use Any usb hard drive. I’ve got a 250 GB drive hooked up to mine…works like a charm. Shelim Uddin Every zelda game is so unique. The legend of zelda – the legend was born. Adventure of Link – link sleeps with women A link to the past – set a bench mark for the series. Ocarina of time – technically the best game ever. Majoras mask – dark, creepy and disturbing. The wind waker – the most colourful adventure Twilight princess – dark as in the colour dark. Skyward sword – Wii motion plus slashing. The wind waker HD – the legend reborn in HD Hairee Pothead Last one=Most Colorful Adventure in 1080P. zhenyaivan just realized that Zelda WW is the first Zelda HD… am I slow? Linskarmo That’s way smaller than I thought it would be. Very manageable for me. Smartass2 It’s amazing that it’s only 2.6GB. Such a big and detailed game. One of my all time favorites. Can’t wait to play this in 1080p. Nolan ArchLord Glad I bought a deluxe Wii U. Ducked Hope you have a external hard drive Jeffery02 That’s impressive given that the GCN discs could only hold 1.5 GB. That means that at LEAST 1.1 GB of data was added for this version. Maybe it DOES justify a physical release. I guess I’ll have to go pre-order it soon. 😀 Martijn Plasmans Higher resolution, better textures. And i think that the sound/music is in better quality. Jeffery02 There’s more than that too. They also added content, a higher difficulty, faster travel, and some revamped mechanics/plot points. Martijn Plasmans Yeah, but those things are not really adding to the size in the way of big data files. Jeffery02 Added content doesn’t add to the size? I don’t follow. Depending on the changes, a higher difficulty could also be a big addition. And not everything I was talking about had to do with how much information was added. My main point is that they added a lot to the game, so much so that ADDED TOGETHER it makes an extra 1.1GB. I don’t understand the disagreement. Brian Lockett No, he’s saying that those do not significantly contribute to the game’s data size. He’s right. It’s more programming than anything, which is minimal in data size. Jeffery02 -_- I understand that. That wasn’t my point. Ugh, nevermind… Brian Lockett Well, they’re still not using normal maps or displacement maps, so even those slightly-retouched textures aren’t much higher than the original textures. Elitepwnsface Thats actually not much space at all. Quite surprised since its in hd. Brian Lockett Well, it’s upscaled to HD. Upscaling to HD is not the same as content created from the ground-up in true high definition. The original game was about 1.1 gigabytes, so their upscaling operation has just added about 1.5 GB of extra picture info to the original game. Had the game been remade from the ground-up in HD, and assuming normal mapping and the like were added, it’d be several times bigger, closer to that of normal games today. Elitepwnsface Umm this isn’t a God of War collection for the ps3, Devil May Cry Collection, or a FF10/10-2 collection. This is a legit attempt at trying to overhaul the graphics and actually update models. In normal circumstances i would probably just play my Wind Waker copy through an emulator if i wanted hd graphics, but this looks to be like an attempt similar to 343’s Halo reboot. thedeciderU it doesn’t affect me, but the fact you may have to clear your wii u already is laaaaame Agent721 The 360 had 20 gig drive at launch…I had to upgrade within one year! GTAIV could barely fit on it, and then, it wouldnt even load quick enough so the graphics looked like BS when going fast in a car. And then, RRoD happened about one year later, and it cost money just to play online.. At least you know you wont get the latter two with Nintendo. thedeciderU true. i’m sure at some point i’ll get an external, but i seem to be turning into almost a novice collector at this point, so it’s all hard copies for me. Agent721 I thought the same thing! I’m in the market for an external as well, is suggest waiting for black friday if you can… I’m sure someone will have them at 50% off during that week. thedeciderU that is a great idea! may as well get 2tb for the price of 500gb or whatever it will be. i can definitely wait. it’s low on priorities. working on getting an original zelda cart right now. surprisingly easier than i thought… Kevin Sepulveda I love that almost every game see’s a digital version. I am a fan of digital and only download digital games. I have accepted the consequences but it just gives me a much more modern feeling not to have to go the store or get up every time I need to change a game discuss I’m no fan of digital because I can’t re-sell a game if I want to. Also if your external harddisk somehow crashes can you redownload the game for free? ICHI Yes as the title is tied to the console not the HDD, I’ve changed mine over with no problems. Kevin Sepulveda Yes you can re-download the game 100% for free as many times as you want. The only downside to digital is as you mentioned no re-sell value, or the ability to trade to your friends and if your entire Wii U crashes you must send it to Nintendo for repair but I called and asked personally and they confirmed with me that I would get every penny back for my game money spent if that was the situation or I would get them all back for free through codes on Wii U Eshop. springer85 LMFAO rehash Windwaker takes up early 3gb……….and then Nintendo releases an 8gb only basic at launch? LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kev “Furthermore, players will be able to play the game using the regular Wii U Pro controller.” Sold! Bob Wilkerson This one I will get on Disc as I prefer most of my games on disc if I can. Looking forward to this release. asdasdasd No wii remote plus support? Can’t really go back to old controls after Skyward Sword. C4 Yep, no Remote. In ideal case they had options for all 3 (like NSMBU or Pikmin) but I guess that would have been tough to implement here. Better get used to the GamePad if you’re a Zelda fan since that’s what the next Wii U Zelda propably will utilize. Agent721 Will they offer a discount for the digital copy? Like Luigi U?? Deadpool U Probably not since Luigi U can count as a DLC. Dean Moores I will be buying this day one as Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game as it was completely different from the others that were out. Also the 2.6GB install doesn’t affect me as I have a 2TB external hard drive attached to my Wii U. I know it’s a bit much but I hope it will pay off in the long run. The only problem I have at the moment is I am running out of tiles on my homepage so it takes forever to find things, I hope Nintendo add folder support soon. Agent721 Damn, you’re big pimpin, wii u style! I will buy an external drive when the time comes…Im thinking black friday week…should be some good discounts! Ford Crews Wonder how much of that 2.6gb is videos you watch once, they should allow you to set those as optional, 99% of the time, I skip them, leave the room to get a snack/watch tv, while they play if they won’t let me skip them. Ford Crews WTF why would anyone rank down, wanting the option to not store crappy movies, almost nobody watches wasting space on their systems. While it’s fine to waste space on a burned copy, it’s just a waste stored on your system. Allow it optional, or just stream it. While this is a small game, something like lego city that can’t be more than 3 or 4 gigs of actual game and 18-19 gigs of movies and filler, it makes a huge difference. Nobody wants to buy digital downloads that take hours and hours to download, the whole point, is you buy them so you can play them now rather than wait. Kev The convenience of downloading is more about not having to go to the store or getting up to put the disc in the machine everytime you want to play. Anyone who downloads currrent-gen games understands there is going to be a waiting process. That’s why you have to be selective about which games you want to download. Nothing personal, but it just sounds like you’re complaining for the sake of complaining. krisyadao The cutscenes in Zelda games are rendered in real time withing the game engine. They are not “movies” and do not take up much space at all. Zuxs13 Down voted because you obviously have never played a Zelda game.. especially this one. Sealed by the Holy Spirit HOLY CRAP! LOLOL!!!! This entire game is real time bro. ludist210 That’s it? Hmmm…tempted to download. But the box! THE BOX! Brian Lockett I’m not surprised, honestly. There are no normal textures.or displacement maps, and so that’s saving tons of data space. The new small features like speed-sailing and higher difficulty are mostly new programming, which doesn’t take up much space at all. They used an upscaling operation, which is always a significantly lower data size than original HD content. And 5.1 surround sound support isn’t a big deal in terms of data size, thanks to efficient data algorithms. If it were more than 4 GB, I would’ve been seriously surprised. Upscaling to HD is not the same as content created from the ground-up in true high definition. The original game was about 1.1 gigabytes, so their upscaling operation has just added about 1.5 GB of extra picture info to the original game. Makes sense. It’s good that you can save it on a small SD card or USB key.
