Wind Waker HD WIi U guideZelda: The Wind Waker HD is one of the most anticipated Wii U games this Fall, and is easily a must-have title for any Wii U owner. So far Nintendo has shown us the official box art, some screenshots and videos of the game. And it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that Nintendo has teamed up with the guide gurus over at Prima Games to create the official game guide for Wind Waker HD.

The guide is called Zelda Wind Waker Collector’s Edition (because everything is a “collector’s edition” these days) and is now available for pre-order for $36. Yep, that’s quite steep, considering the game itself will costs just $14 more, at $50 bucks. But for the $36, you get quite a lot in return. Here’s what the guide includes:

  • Hardcover design
  • Detailed walkthroughs of every dungeon and side quest
  • Strategies for puzzles and bosses
  • A map of all the treasures found in the sea
  • A bonus cloth map of the Great Sea in the game

If you have to buy a game guide for any game, it’s probably Zelda, as there is so much do do, explore, and find, that game guides are usually worth their money. Nintendo has confirmed that they will also release a special Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle.

Zelda Wind Waker HD on the Wii U will feature a higher difficulty setting, which is rumored to mix up the puzzles in the game. And give an extra challenge to those who have already played the game ten years ago on the GameCube.

Wind Waker HD launches on October 4 in Europe, the North American release date is yet to be announced.

  • Ryebread

“Wind Waker HD launches later this month in Europe and Japan, and on September 15 in North America.” I think that is the Wonderful 101 release date….

    • Shota

maybe released on the same date ?

      • Ryebread

In a Nintendo Direct they said it would release in October at least for North America.

        • Gary

I thought the Direct said Windwaker HD would release in October for EU… Come on John that got my hopes up πŸ™

Does the prima edition box set version of windwakers guide suffice for the game or is it different?

EDIT: What’s up with all the down votes? Hasn’t Mr.Doenvote been banned yet?

    • Steven_Segal

Yes, it’s the release date of The Wonderful 101. Wind Waker HD will launch in North America this October so… the article has the wrong date.

  • John Smith

Why do you need game guides ?

Wouldn’t it be fun if you figure it out by yourself ?

    • Zakariyya Al-Quran

I know thats the idea, maybe its just for help in like controls or hard to reach places

    • Fuzunga

More like, wouldn’t it be easier and cheaper to look it up online if you need to?

    • Jared Garcia

You see, some players are too soft to play games. So, to say I found everything, they buy strategy guides. Everyone knows if you are a real gamer who doesn’t use a strategy guide, you won’t find everything and will still receive that warm feeling.

      • Gary

I buy the strategy guides as a nice collectible, but I’m still wondering if the prima box set of zelda strategy guides will include this version of windwaker or the old one.

        • Jared Garcia

I used to think they were collectable. I’d put them up on the wall. Now it’s just a bunch of 2 way maps.

  • Baum γ€Œγƒ„γƒͺー」

WHEN did they announce the Bundle and the higher difficulty!?

EDIT: Seriously Kinsley….BOTH of those “Facts” are RUMORS….
And I even send Wii U Daily BOTH of the sources of those rumors xDD

    • Andreas Sunde

It’s Kinsley. What did you expect?

      • Baum γ€Œγƒ„γƒͺー」

Nothing, but I guess even that’s been too much πŸ˜€

  • Elitepwnsface

umm the game isn’t $50 bucks. Anyways i guess this is nice for the hard core collector. but i like the power of the internet if i need that edge to get past something if i couldn’t figure it out on my own.

  • Merrfn

I have not played the Wind Waker HD, so I do not want to buy this. It would ruin the experience for me, because one of my favourite things to do in games is to figure out challenges puzzles etc. by myself. But if you are a die-hard collector, or a collector in general, then you must buy this.

    • Zombie Boy

Same here, so I’ll finish the game first and then probably buy it to play through a second time and find the things I missed.

  • RoboticLink

That’s cool, but the only reason anyone would buy this is for collecting, I mean, it’s nice and all but just google a walkthrough, Zelda Dungeon is a great site. I’m definitely getting the game though

EDIT: Don’t hate, people. It’s just my opinion, I wouldn’t buy that for $36, I mean, it’s not like it’s Hyrule Historia or anything

EDIT 2: Everyone is downvoting me… What did I say that was so wrong?

    • Steven_Segal

Almost every comment has 5 downvotes. Apparently Mrs. Downvote and his crew has come back.

      • [000]

He brought the whole family. Seriously though, Isn’t it against the rules to get 5 accounts and use each one to downvote? Mods, please, do something about this. Track his IP address or something. This should not be allowed.

        • Steven_Segal

Yes, I think they banned some accounts or something but they (he) have kept creating new ones so my advice is never reply to them.

          • [000]

MY advice is put an IP ban on him if it doesn’t stop. Then you don’t have to hear from him again.

        • MrDownvote

5 accounts? You have no respect for me at all do you. It brings a tear to my eye seeing you regard myself in such a low manner. Each downvote I, or my employees award is something built from the ground up with nourishment and care. The even assume such a dastardly thing, when you know so little about me, makes me wonder if you were one of my bullies in high school…

Oh well. You should not assume. I have no fear of somebody tracking my IP. Currently I am not using one of my many proxies as I trust that the community will not stoop that low. My other employees are complete noobs, but they obtain the compassion and care one can not replace with knowledge in technology. But if it comes to that I assure you I can hide their IP addresses.

If you think that I am in possession of 5 accounts to merely downvote comments you are sadly misguided. Though I would love to share y downvote love, through spam bots, I feel that would do nothing but harm. The downvotes would not be from human beings, just a program following orders. I did once consider it and that was when DownvoteBot 0.8 BETA, was created. I tested it. The sheer amount of unholy Downvotes made me cringe. I hope to never see that sight again. The program is stored on my Wifi connection with a WPA5 password never to be seen again.

Please if you would be so kind as to fuck off and not assume I am some low life businessman…

  • Mr. J

If you have to buy a game guide for any game, it’s probably Zelda, as there is so much do do………………

  • LoZ4life98

I mean, can’t you just use the internet you already pay for and find the information for free?

    • Mr. J

      I know right

    • Kevin Sepulveda

Some people just are hardcore Zelda fans and Nintendo knows it so they make money off of it. No crime there.

    • fireheartis1

You kids these days have no respect for gaming tradition do you. To own something like that is to have a piece of history once this generation is over. Game collectors looks for these types of things. It’s because of this kind of attitude we don’t have Nintendo Power anymore. Older gamers like myself looked forward to getting the next issue of Nintendo Power, but many gamers like yourself relied to much on the Internet, and now one of the greatest gaming magazines is no more because of it(not that you caused this of course just the fact many other younger gamers did). Gaming Guides need to stay alive and for one I’ll be buying this to help make that happen. Sorry about the rant and I get it I do look up info on the internet myself, but a guide like this needs to stay around.

      • Kevin Sepulveda

I think you need to relax. “Tradition” changes and it;s only who never let go of the past like you who would ever say this. But its okay…sooner or later you die.

  • Mariokartfann

Holy crap I think Downvote and co are back! There are about 5 downvotes for almost every post!

    • RoboticLink

Thank you! I thought I was the only one getting trolled

    • Baum γ€Œγƒ„γƒͺー」

Oh my…didn’t we get rid of ’em just a week ago?
I really enjoy thinking back to the days of IGNoranceiswhatsup’s days with lame trolls like this xDD

      • Lusunup

There nothing compared to the trolls back when they made this site, I’d tell yeah they were brutal..

    • Billy Poore

I think the idea of downvote and co is hilarious.

  • longschlongsilver

I love these things but unfortunately everybody is just gonna google it when they get stuck, lol

  • RoboticLink

Everyone! I’m trying not to sound like a like wh*re, but please, upvote this comment so it appears first and the Wii U daily staff will see that we want everyone from Downvote & Co. to get banned

  • Javy G

This is the ONE bundle to compete with the other systems these holidays. Looking for it to open some people’s eyes on what the Wii U is.

    • kevin nun—-

This bundle shows that the Wii U is capable of remaking GameCube games in HD.. and integrate Miiverse. Nice bundle, but I think Nintendo still has a long way to go in order to demonstrate the true potential of their console.

      • Javy G

I will admit there is not a game yet from Nintendo to fully utilize the gamepad and make thier console a truly unique dual-screen experience besides Nintendo Land. But to the average consumer who wants that Zelda game in the shelf and finds out that need to upgrade from a Wii to a Wii U and that gamepad in the demo booth is not another larger DS. If the salesman is legit he will explain that all his/her Wii games (even downloads) can be transferred and played on their new Wii U HD console.

  • Mariokartfann

Please, get off of this site, no one missed you

  • jay

What’s the point in downvoting everyone really? Does it make you a better person? Does it make commenters worse people? EXACTLY it doesn’t do shit.

Does a 12 year old have nothing better to do?

    • Steven_Segal

Please understand that They’re waiting till’ COD Ghosts comes out…

    • oontz

it’s kinda funny, no need to be so serious all the time.

  • A SNES Day Off

Using Google is all very well, but I’m betting that many people will appreciate having something physical by their side. Not only is this more convenient, but you don’t have to ‘search’ for different topics and navigate web pages to get the information you want.

Also, I believe the hard-backing and general exclusivity of this book will give it a special feel that just makes it more desirable. And what’s wrong with that? I personally think it’s a fantastic idea, regardless of the premium pricing. It shows Nintendo care about their game and want fans to experience it in the most immersive way, so producing a nice ‘game bible’ is a great way to reflect that.

    • kevin nun—-

The book is not a token of appreciation and care, its called business.

  • MrUpvote

Sigh, I just want to read these articles in peace!!!
Well, Im here to save the day! again…

    • Nintendude

There is a Mr. Upvote now?

I would like this to turn out like the Dark Knight.

      • Mariokartfann

He was here about a week ago when downvote co came

  • discuss

Only interesting for mentally handicapped people.

*edit* seems like there are a lot of them here

  • MujuraNoKamen

Looks good, It would be great if a high quality guide book/map like this came with the game as a real collectors edition then I’d probably get it. Speaking of special editions, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed a WW HD + Wii U bundle yet and that article you linked to even says this is just speculation – I agree it’s highly likely but far from confirmed.

  • greengecko007

Maybe it’s just hindsight bias, but I remember Wind Waker being one of the easiest games in the series. That’s not really a bad thing though. I like the more fluid dungeon design, as opposed to Link to the Past where a lot of the dungeons were just mazes.

  • Ernie Sanguyo

I use google or youtube for guide. But people that likes to collect this will buy it for sure tho. Everyone use’s internet for guide this day.

  • Darker Hei

could you post the source of the confirm zelda wiiu bundle?, please

  • Castamere

This article is very confusing. The game is not $50. Also, Nintendo has not confirmed a Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle yet.

    • Daniel

      It’s $49.99

      • Castamere

        Where is it $50?

        • Daniel

I pre-order at amazon when it was $50. I guess they changed it.

  • RyuNoHadouken

you have to really suck to use a game guide

  • YayGs

Personally, I wouldn’t call them guide gurus..
I started collecting the Zelda guides after the games, I chose the Nintendo Power written guides when possible, it’s too bad Prima is the only one who makes Zelda guides now. I would like to see what a Brady Games one would look like as most (not all) of the prima ones are lacking.

I also wonder if this is going to be the same one included in the box set. They didn’t specify if it’s the HD one or not, but I had assumed it would be and they just hadn’t finished the guide yet. If they are indeed different (as in the Box set one covers GCN) that would be a pretty BS move. The box set is the only reason why I’m getting the collector’s edition guides, as I prefer the cover art of the paper back ones.

    • discuss

      Why do you collect guides?

      • YayGs

        I like picture books.

Just cuz I like Zelda stuff. I decided to collect the physical games which eventually lead me to get the guides too because they sometimes have extra interesting info in them, for example the Link to the Past guide goes over the story for the first two games. Though it does feels silly to have something and never use it, but isn’t that the point of a collection?

  • Guest

    Thumbs down people are back.

  • I wonder if I could use my original Wind Waker Nintendo Power guide?

  • Sharingan

I always bought game guides for Zelda but rarely use them. Unless I’m really stuck on some thing.

  • 00EpicGamer00

Man, that’s pretty expensive for a book. Especially when you can just look it up for free on Google. But, I guess if you have to collect everything Zelda, then go ahead and get it I guess. Though, I personally think it’s more rewarding when you can beat a game all by yourself with no, or very little help. I only look stuff up if I’m absolutely stuck, and I think I’ve tried everything.

    • oontz

I think it’s more of a collectable… hard cover, cloth ocean map, etc

      • 00EpicGamer00

Meh, they could of done better with the hardcover.

        • oontz

agree, I for one wont be jumping on this one.

  • IBlock

Who needs this when you could use Miiverse?

  • Nintendofreak

i have all the strategies in my brain, all the dungeons in my memory and i don’t need a cloth map of the great sea….. but it would make a nice addition to my collection

  • Sdudyoy

I would be getting Wind waker HD at launch but I just finished my second play through before it was announced, so I will wait awhile.

  • Blaster pack

  • BIG Franky

i really hope that they make the controls compatible with the pro controller and just use the gamepad as a map device or something (much like pikmin)…. i would liek a wind waker/pro controller bundle…
