It looks like those of you in Europe who have been waiting to get your hands on the Wind Waker HD Limited Edition have a delightful treat in store for you. In addition to coming with the Ganondorf figurine, the insert also comes with a reversible cover that you see above. We don’t know if the same reversible cover will be included in the North American edition of the game, so we’ll have to wait and see when people get their hands on it on October 4th.

What do you think about the artwork? It’s the same artwork that’s on the box the game and figure come in and it looks super snazzy.

    Nice addition for them.

I went to two of my local targets stores yesterday, and they were both sold out completely of this game. Hoping the games sales does well and boosts the Wii U.

    • Stuart Thomas

It’s not out yet is it? At least not in the US.

      • Jon Turner

It just came out in Japan. It didn’t do all that much, just charted at #7. But it’s going to obviously be a big splash here in America.

        • Matteo Ferrazzi

i think wind waker’s lack of success in japan is less due to it being zelda and more to it being an old game.

          • Jon Turner

That and it wasn’t the most popular there. I’m sure Zelda WiiU will do much better there, though, especially when the sales issues will be solved by then.

    • Gabe Hoffman

When I went into my local Target, I saw a big banner advertising the Wind Waker HD. On a side note they were also sold out on NSMBU and Pikmin 3. They also were nearly sold out on The Wonderful 101too I think the buy two get one free deal helped

      • Jon Turner

Gabe, you should post this on the forums. We could use some good news as well.

    • Jon Turner

It’s very likely to do so right here in America. After all, Zelda has a bigger fanbase here. That could explain why it didn’t do much in its Japanese debut, although in all fairness, HD remakes don’t necessarily sell there. Still, WiiU’s time in Japan WILL come. They have bundles to help out there.

      • Ducked

Well PS4 and Xbox One won’t be out until next year, so that gives the Wii U a chance to dominate the console wars there early. Although 3DS and Vita will be the top sellers there throughout most of the 8th gen.

  • Brennero Pardo Centanaro

like it, hope it’s the same for NA bundle

  • savisn

@ ducked I thought it released on the 4th? Are you referring to the bundle or is it out where you live already?

  • IBlock

    Cool. 🙂

  • figs28

every game should have a reversible cover, just the cover without logos and ratings. I mean, look at the size of the USK rating, some covers even had to be changed (mainly DS) so it doesn’t hide the art lol

  • Seth S. Scott

i love reversible cover art. wish every game had it.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

    Not a big deal.

  • Arthur Jarret

Spoilers!!! Man, if a game spoils it’s own ending sequence – then what has the world of narrative based videogames come to?

    • C4

Not sure if I should downvote, or upvote to fully agree… this is far from your typical “Oh it’s Bowser again” situation in Mario.

      • Arthur Jarret

Just downvote, I need karmaic balance in my life and I have a massive surplus of upvotes already.

    • SleepySkullhead

This game is also about 10 years old. Plus, Ganondorf is the main antagonist, and is shown to be that near the beginning of the game.

      • Arthur Jarret

So, if you never saw star wars except episode 1, and plan to watch the original trilogy… it’s okay for me to tell you in advance that leia and luke are related, darth vader is luke’s father and palpatine is a powerful sith lord?

‘Zelda’ is not present in most of the game, so that’s a big spoiler!

        • ScrewAttack

I’m…not sure whether I agree or disagree.

        • kaygivs

darth vader is luke’s father????!!! WHAT??? DUDE i haven’t made it that far yet

        • greengecko007

No, but it would be ok to tell someone who’s never seen Star Wars that Darth Vader is the villain.

  • Wiiluigi

Cool but I’d prefer a metal case like Metroid Prime Trilogy. That would rock!

  • Jelle Knibbe

Noooooo! The alternative cover does’t have a bar with the title on the side of the box! It’ll look ugly in my vollection! What to do?

    • C4

Solution 1: Reverse it back and you have the normal cover.

Solution 2: Place it so you can see the front of the box 🙂

    • Matteo Ferrazzi

scan the original cover, print it out and cut the part on the spine. it will look great 🙂

  • Nick

My Pal Uk has no reversible cover 🙁

    • YogiGRB

only the special edition (with Ganandorf figurine) has this reversible cover

  • KoopaShell

Why can’t every game have this?

  • Connor Devlin

  • Majora’s Mask

  • David Horowitz

That box art existed for a while, now. They just put HD in front of the logo!

i’m a very sceptical nintendo wii-u owner and game collector (and to say nintendo fan). the way nintendo deals with the wii-u at the moment and software output is very poor to say the least. most publishers have moved away so there is little in development to say. ofcourse we have our mario coming up in november but nothing groundbreaking…no game tsunami’s here but mostly delays. it’s very tragic as an enthusiast to see nintendo’s focus point towards kids, delays and moving into the HD era very late, all this is taking time, time that will lose customers. Look at what the upcoming PS4 has to offer already, just amazing, also to see PS4 everywhere already meaning the commercial team is doing it’s work. Nintendo believes we just buy everything that says mario, zelda or whatever.. i haven’t seen any commercials on tv, ads on the streets. To put it mildly my wii-u is gathering dust..i’m more interested in playing GTA5 and other loads of insanely good PS3 titles than old VC titles playing at 4:3 and run better on the everage emulator.
At this point for the wii-u nintendo has very little to offer and delay, everyone will agree on this and it is a very sad thing.
But i did buy this zelda windwaker special edition and am amazed how it looks because it does look very beautiful in your face 1080p with new sound and details. It is worth to have in your collection for sure also if you have played this already. Still i find it a bit lame that nintendo chose to do this zelda but we know another zelda is in development (make that end 2014 at least) but i’m still going to enjoy this game to the fullest. Again, it feels a bit like Zelda OOT 3ds having no sequel on the system where it should have gotten Majora’s Mask too. What will we get with the other Zelda’s? Personally it would be great to have Skyward treated the very same way in the meantime they are developing a totally new Zelda. Please Nintendo speed up the process and intensify. I know the kids are waiting for pokemon but i’m a first gen nintendo gamer and want something else, i’m no 10 year old either…i’m 32 and want to be taken serious and follow all game developments so i know my roots and look at how things are now at the company i’ve grown up with. I just loose interest this way, i already did in a way…keep me on your path and you know what i mean right?? Anyway, this zelda remake is a good purchase and plays, looks and sounds just great, but now is the time to deliver more..

  • Shigeru Miyamoto

    I LOVE reversible COVERS!

  • Wiiluigi

Got my copy and the cover is one sided only. Gold like all the other ones. And the figurine is nice. A little weight to it and the details are very nice. Box is cool too easy to take all the stickers of IF you take your time. By stickers I mean the price stickers and the seal it comes with on the top. Wish it woulda come with music cd too but it’s just the box and figure other than that nothing special. Still glad I got it though.
