Now that Nintendo has finally announced the Virtual Console for Wii U, lots of excitement has cropped up about the possibility of playing old classics on the Wii U GamePad. So far Nintendo has handled the port surprisingly well, offering affordable prices for people who have already purchased their favorites on the Wii. NES titles buyback starts at just a dollar with SNES buyback at a buck fifty. No prices have been given for N64 titles. The only problem with the buyback program is that while you can transfer your games to the Wii U from the Wii in order to unlock the low pricing, you won’t be able to continue your saved games. That isn’t so bad for games like Super Mario where you can breeze through in a few minutes, but if you’re on your fifth playthrough of Chrono Trigger, you might want to finish it up before you decide to do the transfer. Obviously people re-buy old games to experience them again for fun and nostalgia reasons so starting over for some people isn’t a huge deal breaker, but it is something to consider if you’ll be transferring your Wii Virtual Console titles over to your shiny new Wii U. The rest will be only be worth upgrading if I plan to play them from the start. JumpMan yeah, and a big thing for me is that they re-map the controls to the Gamepad for the N64 games because my Classic Controller broke. and i was halfway throgh Majora’s Mask! but, aparently, i’ll have to start over anyway. bummer. Nintenjoe82 I think that must be a given but we’ve not actually heard if they are doing N64 games on Wii U VC yet…. Josh Randell I hope they give us metroid for the advance too since it was on that Tim van Broekhoven I would love to see zero mission and fusion on the wii u! Playing these games on the gamepad would be awesomeeeee Josh Randell Yes that would be awesome and it’s zero mission game ..that is the metriod game i was talking about DenverP Complete non-issue, imo Bob Wilkerson Well that kind of sucks but since most NES and many SNES games did not allow for saving it would be like shutting the game off after a long pause. Also it is a good excuse to have to play the games over again. Steven Scott not an issue I want the new features sonicfan1373 Maybe Nintendo will release a transfer tool later on (I mean VC has not even fully launched yet). Anyways it is a minor annoyance. HylianHero7227 No issues with that here. Kirbyomega Super Mario World………………………………………………………… I was at th 6th world…….. RoadyMike I’m perfectly fine : Andrew W Garttmeyer I just want some trophies added for some of these games. Beat ‘Link to the Past’ in under 10 hrs or something. Beat it without dying, etc., etc.
