Wii U pro controller boxNintendo will offer the Wii U Pro controller to those who wish a more traditional control scheme instead of the new GamePad. According to GameStop’s product page of the Pro controller, the battery life lasts an impressive 80 hours.

By comparison, an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 controller last less than half of that on a full charge. However, the “80 hours” of battery life are yet to be officially confirmed by Nintendo.

The Wii U Pro controller features dual analog sticks, shoulder buttons, D-pad, and everything else a modern video game controller needs. Earlier today, a third party Wii U Pro controller was revealed, which resembled a classic SNES controller.

The Wii U Pro controller will be available at launch and will retail for $50.

  • Kahhhhyle

That can’t be right… Unless there’s no rumble, I don’t seen how you can get 80 hours out something so compact…

    • Master Awesomeness

      Its awesome, that’s how.

      • Xblade13

It’s Nintendo, that’s why. They have also scrunched all the Wii U’s power in a Wii-sized case. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did the same with the Pro.

        • Nintedward .

Wiiu is bigger than the wii !!!! its longer at the back. its about 40% bigger.

          • Nintenlord

            Thats what she said

    • Leeroy

There is rumble but it’s weak

      • Nintendork28

I watched a few hands on videos that said there’s no rumble feature. I’m not sure if that’s official or not but if it is that’s a disappointment for me since I’ve always loved a rumble feature.

        • Nintendo is da best

There is rumble but it is smaller compared to gamecubes rumble

      • wtf

there is a rumble in the pad itself

    • Guhtere

A little bit of Nintendo magic, that’s how.

    • Asiancake

I’m buying this at launch will u?

    • sergiosms

      It’s Nintendo it does everything

    • Maverick-Hunter

The material they used to make it is called nintenium it’s power efficient and super durable lol

      • Arsonist Monkey

        It’s super effective!

    • Nko Sekirei

at least we wont have to burn threw batteries that quickly

  • Jetty

Sorry but I call B.S. I’d say you’re lucky to get 75 after this claim. If Nintendo vouches the 70, I’ll believe it.

    • Morley94

Really? You’re gonna bust their balls for 5-10 hours? Come on man…

      • Jetty

As long as it can be recharged, I could honestly care less. I severely doubt one charge will last 80 hours. “You’d be lucky to get 75 after this claim.” I believe it’s around 40-50, LUCKILY 70-75. When Nintendo officially reports the hours, I’ll condone and believe it will last 80 hours. Lol, Damn. One piece of skepticism and I get treated like a xbox owner. Nice talk, have a great day!

  • 007 1/2

im glad now i can play forever

    • 007 1/2

not forever, but a long time

  • Elite

    Does it have rumble?

    • Mac

rumble is the norm. no rumble, you set your self up for failure

    • QTF

The Pro does have rumble, but it’s weak.

    • Elite
    • Jetty

      Yes, it has rumble.

Numerous articles state that it’s rumble is “weak”.

      • olimar

FOR THOSE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE RUMBLE: You don’t need a vibrator either, don’t you?

        • Kahhhhyle

Nobody NEEDS rumble… But remember the backlash Sony got for the original SIXAXIS? Nobody NEEDS HD nobody NEEDS a screen on the controller, and nobody NEEDS a TB of memory. It’s all about expectations

      • olimar

whoops sorry I didn’t mean to reply to your post, it was something general.

      • Castamere

I’ve seen only one person claim that the rumble is weak. All others have commented that it feels comparable to any of its competitor’s controllers. I guess we’ll know for certain in a month.

  • The Tramp

    What about rumble? N
o one has confirmed rumble yet!

    • NintendoMan :D

No Rumble :(. But there is rumble on the Gamepad.

      • Nintendude

        There is rumble.

    • Ninjafish

I hope it’s ready to ruuummmbblllle!!! XD

    • Nintedward .

Yeh it has rumble. But some people saying it’s a bit weak…

      • Jetty

Damn I hit enter and see you responded already, fault lol.

      • Ben

Sad if its true, i’m hoping for awesome rumble like the Gamecube. Always scares the sh*t out of me if i dont know when its going to rumble.
Wii ones is weak to, it makes more noise than “rumblethings”

        • Nintedward .

Wii’s rumble is good I think 🙂 . If its the same as that then I will be happy!

        • NintendoMan :D

You know you can change the amount of rumble on the Wii.

          • srpg2ishere

      • Grove Street N****

hi Troll Patrol, spending some freetime hmm?

        • Celtics_For_Life

He’s not trolling, and of course he’s spending some free time, he’s a human (probably, no disregard that).

  • Just nin10do

    Wowwwwww!!!!its amazing

  • NavyBlueYoshi

    This gets a
    NavyBlueYoshi Gold seal of approval

  • Just nin10do

Wii U is a complete console.because it is for all type of people
    Casual+gamers=wii U

  • Mac

man thats crazy i would feel better if nintendo actually said it but if its true, i’ll definately get a pro controller. my ps3 controller battery life is god awful

    • Morley94

Really? Mine actually last quite a long time, but definitely not 80 hours haha

  • NintendoMan :D

Wow thats a LONG time. Like seriously thats an INSANELY LONG Time!!! Thats like 3 days worth of battery life.

    • Johny

sure… if you like… play MORE than 24 hours a DAY (which is physicly kinda impossible ^^)
but yea… lets be more realistic, and say that you are a hardcore gamer and play appx. 3 hours a day.. every day… (which is ALOT) … and well you’ll be good for like almoust 4 WEEKS… which is .. just amazing ^^ gj nintendo

    • [CMD] DEATH

Lol it couldn’t be 3 days worth, it would be more like 6 days worth unless your gonna play straight for almost 4 days lol! Remember 3 days is 72 hours and you don’t play straight for 3 days so if you play for about 6 or 7 days a lot (over 10 hours) then you would play about 80 hours or as Johny said 2-4 hours a day then could last a month about.

      • Ashfaq

anthony June 9, 2011 am feelin those shirt i know you can buy some on the wbieste and i have but where can you buy more like the long sleeve that l’s have on get back to me thanks

  • Cugno the Swiss

Take that Namco, you and your “No Tales games on the Wii U, the tablet isn’t good for RPGs”.

    • Nintedward .

Are they idiots lol ?? no one is forceing them to use all of the gamepads feautres. Touchscreen commands on the fly would surely only enhance an RPG. That was a very strange comment by my hero – Hideo Baba.

      • Cugno the Swiss

I thought the same thing… Japanese Nintendo owners are RPG nerds, they just can’t get enough story-driven RPGs. Namco Bandai made RPGs for pretty much every platform there is (heck, even the 360! No one has the 360 in Japan!), I see no reason not to make a new one for the Wii U, it’d be safe money.
I was asking them to port Ni No Kuni to the Wii U, and what have we got? No tales… I hope it’s just temporary.

        • Nintedward .

How about a tales game where you can play it on the gamepad or play it on the tv with just a few touch screen options ??? Tales of the abyss on 3DS has just that and it’s fantastic. Navigating that game with the touch screen is really a lot better than using buttons!!!

So Hiddeo is just being an ass. DQX , MHU and Monolith soft are working on a game , so the wiiu will have a few RPG’s in its first year anyway :).

Maybe once Mr baba see’s them , he will change his tune.

          • Cugno the Swiss

Haha, Xenoblade is the hugest RPG I’ve seen in the last ten years, I doubt that Monolithsoft will have something ready before 2014.
Not complaining though, after Xenoblade, they created an unprecedented hype. Let them take their time.

        • PKUltima

Once Namco sees all the money the Wii-U’s bringing in they’ll bust out an RPG for all of us “nerds”.

  • tronic307

The rumble likely isn’t much stronger than the Wiimote, then. I’d rather have 8 hours of Gamecube-like rumble.

    • Morley94

Why does everyone care so much about the weak rumble? I’d prefer a weak rumble, I don’t need an earthquake in my hands every time I get hit or something. If the rumble is enough to feel, then that’s good enough for me.

  • Master Awesomeness

Wow, Wii U daily got this article right from IGN. I was reading it, like, half an hour ago. Here I am now, and an update appears!

    On topic,

  • Britton

I am sorry WiiU Daily… I dont mean to complain or dog you guys at all but I read this same article on MyNintendoNews.com yesterday. Are you guys still hung up with the merge to WiiU Forums and are behind a little on the daily news? I really dont want to complain or anything, but I used to come here for daily news and for the most part you guys were ahead of or right on par with some of the same news as MyNintendo but not in the last two weeks. Plus the Forums… to me… are not as good as they used to be. Sorry!

  • nintendoododo

Mä saan wii u:n jo jouluna sitten pelaan sitä koko ajan tolla hyvällä ohjaimella.
(poor stupid americans who don’t understand this easy language above)

    • ceramicsaturn

Poor stupid foreigner who assumes we give a flying shit.

    • Nintedward .

Nope the wiiu isn’t a jouluna . You are.

    • changus

Pero tu no entiendes esto put@(but you don’t understand this bitch)

      • Cugno the Swiss

E tu non capisci ‘sta roba, pirlaccio. Non ci vuole niente ad andare su un sito internet a figheggiarsi con gli anglofoni perché non capiscono una lingua.

        • Cugno the Swiss

It was meant to the Finn.
And that’s a pity, because I always loved Finland. I love how it’s one of the only European language not to descent from the Indo-European protolanguage, and I love how the Finns are an asian people who moved to Europe during the great migrations. However, seeing that such good language is spoken by such an idiot makes me want to change my mind. Oh yes, I’m 21 years old, and as a Swiss living in the Italian speaking region, I was forced to learn four languages (Italian being my native one, French and English being two languages I can use to conversate, and German, which I find quite easy to understand). Does that make me a genius? Every single one of my friends speaks these languages, and I can assure you that it doesn’t make any of us smarter. We were forced to learn them, we’re forced to go to a French-German bilingual college even being Italian speakers, we didn’t have choice. Have fun writing on the Internet how smart you are.

          • JJJ

How did we get From Nintendos incredible Wii U 2 a language class lol

    • CheckItNow12

Translation: I get the Wii U for Christmas, then I play it all the time with the good battery controller.

If you already know how to speak English, type your comment in English then, considering that’s the language most users on this site speak. And if you’re trying to troll, then you’re failing at it. :/

      • Wii u Fan Central

    • EponaVsCrimsonLoftwing

Being a poor stupid American has nothing to do with your “easy’ language. We just don’t give a damn about it. Benefit of being American, we don’t have to give a crap about any of that stuff. If we want, we can, but it doesn’t matter at all to us. Congrats on being smart in knowing another language, but, if that’s all you’re smart in, then who cares. Knowing another language doesn’t make you smart, it makes you smart in language, but not generally smart. Just cause Americans tend to not give a crap about foreign languages doesn’t mean we’re dumb, and even if we do care, who says we care about the same one you use. It’s fairly ignorant to think people who don’t understand a random second language are stupid. There are plenty of people who are fine with foreign languages, but can’t do other things like advanced mathematics, know anything about history or geography, or anything dealing with the sciences. Some people also choose street smarts over book smarts. So, are you only good at one other foreign language, or are you smarter than that? Cause so far you’ve only proven to have one thing you’re smart at, and that doesn’t make someone overall smart. It makes you smart in that language and any others you may know. So congrats, but you have to be pretty stupid to throw out one of those “poor stupid Americans” lines. If you were really so smart, then you wouldn’t even have a reason to care, cause really smart people don’t need to point it out, it shows in their actions. You clearly aren’t secure enough in how smart you are to feel that way though, so I say keep learning and maybe one day you won’t try to bring other people down to make you feel better, you’ll just be better. Though I suppose you wanted some reaction like mine, but I don’t really care for it. And no, I don’t understand that language you used. I’ve been taking foreign language classes for years, but not in that language. Sorry to disappoint you. I’m more math than language. Now excuse me, I have to go tutor my friends now. And before you say anything, I actually do. We have a statistics test tomorrow and I’m the go to guy for that ;). You should be for that language you’ve got their too

      • Wii u Fan Central

I’m Canadian and speak the most difficult language in the world, English. So our neighbors should be respected, not put down by you.

      • nintendoododo

What are you talking about? FInnish is my first language and english is second. I can speak swedish and french too.

        • Shane

That was uncalled for you slut. haha. I can speak spanish, but there’s plenty of Americans from Europe, and tons of other places too. Technically your calling everyone in the world stupid, because there’s people from all over the world that live here.

Go to your room and read a book son, I’m done for now.

      • marioU

i can sign almost fluently in America Sign Language.

      • Luisa

my new wii controller will not turn on, help plesae!?The only way the remote will turn on is if i sync it or i press the 1 and 2 buttons at the same time. After I do this, the four light blink for a few seconds then the remote shuts down. I replaced the batteries twice and unplugged the whole system down and rest it, but nothing works. I have another remote i tried using its batteries in my new remote and it still doesnt work. Help plesae (:

      • Kampa

Zune and iPod: Most people cmoapre the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

    • Arsonist Monkey

I can’t *Plp* Under *Plp* Stand *Plp* Your accent *Pllllp!*

  • ceramicsaturn

In that case, I get the Wii U on Nov. 18th. I’ll revel in every day I’m able to play it while your ignorant, rude self waits until you get yours.

Seriously, people always say Americans are so rude, yet it honestly always seems like foreigners who take the cheap shot first.

    • Nintedward .

Stereotypeing is just as bad as racism!!! you’re doing it a bit there by grouping all ”foreigners” together. Good and bad people exist everwhere.

There is assholes in USA there is assholes in Finland , end of discussion.

No place is better than anywhere else , especialy not us here in the UK , we are the best :P!!!!!

      • theBALLANCEDonion

THE WORLD is ready for Wii U.
    Are U?

  • Ledreppe

Pre-ordered for £32.99, cheapest I can get it so far.

  • HawkEye

80 hours?! Now that’s playing with power!

    • D2K

      ULTRA power!

  • Wii u Fan Central

    hi guys

  • RoboticLink

No duh. Have you all forgotten about the creators of the thing.

  • Robert

We need news on Nintendo Network.

  • Kav

I like this controller, but i dont get why are there so many “single player” people who wants it, you dont need it to play a single player game, the gamepad can do everything.

    • Lazara The Last

The Pro Controller is for longer comfortable gaming along with people who wants to play games the “classic way”.

  • Shane

I don’t doubt this as much as the people who commented above me. More power options and efficiency has been found out in the past 6 years or so. I do hope it has rumble, and I think it will because alot of games will support the Pro controller, including Black Ops, Tekken, Smash Bros, etc. It’s standard anyways. If it does get 80 hours, that will be with rumble OFF for sure, but if it doesn’t have rumble, they just want to save peoples batteries so they last longer.

Plus, have you ever seen how much extra room is in Nintendo controllers? The Wavebird had tons of space, but that’s when AA’s were used, so besides that they could put energy converters that use your hands body heat in the grips of the controller. Freaking crazy Nintendo, they probably did that! haha. Just kidding.

  • ssb4 3dsFC3007 8585 6950

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! Im in love with that black pro even MOAR! <3

    • [CMD] DEATH

Yeah, you’d be able too play just over 3 days straight but I do not recommend that lol!

  • FishFan03

I have a question…what games exactly will be compatible with the pro controller? I hope its all of them or the majority of them because I prefer the pro controller over the gamepad. Please help me with this question…thanks!

    • Lazara The Last

I know ZombiU and Assassin’s creed, but I guess most of them will ^^
Anyway, I think it tells on the sites of each game

  • Grodus

Unless you leave your Pro controller out and it’s not charging while you’re not playing, if this runs out of battery, you need to get a life! If you do leave it out, than keep track of your things. I doubt this though. It Nintendo says it’s true, you can call me surprised.

  • marioU

it is confirmed by official Sony says “that next gen of PS4 controller will last no more than 10 hrs”.

    • marioU

    • Morley94

So you’re saying that Sony is confirming the battery life of their controller when the system has yet to be confirmed? That makes no sense, shut your mouth

    • SoulSilverZero

Oh cool, does the controller on the PS4 look plain and boring as it always was?

  • Arsonist Monkey

That is WAY over 9000 seconds!

If this thing can really last 80 hours I am impressed! The Wiimotes only last about roughly 20 hours? I’m just guessing but it seems like they go out fast.

  • srpg2ishere

The GamePad is going to have strong rumble. I’m sure that if they game cube can rumble like that then this will too. Or It will at least rumble like 40 percent more then the wii remote.

  • Erik

if it was wired it would last a long time

    • bizzy gie

You can plug the long USB charger to the Wii U and leave it plugged in for the wired, limited gaming experience you seek.

  • 271911

Hello it better last 80 hours if it last 79hours 59minutes and 59seconds i will rage

  • SteampunkJedi

80 hours would be awesome. I doubt it will be that much, but it would be very nice to have it last that long. I’ll probably just use the GamePad all the time, and no one will be able to play multiplayer with me often, so I doubt I’ll get a Pro Controller. But if I do I’m sure it will be great, regardless of the charge life.

  • srpg2ishere

Good. Because I play the game ALOT.

  • Ryan House

How good is the Force Feedback in this Controller. is it WEAK or Powerful?

  • devmiles

nice but the wii-u gamepad battery life sucks big time and should have gotten more priority.

  • The price is a little high. it should be like 25 or 30 bucks.

  • Marquette Leach

I bought one of these last month and I haven’t charged it at all since the initial charge and I logged plenty hours trying to complete Ninja Gaiden 3: RE. I think 80 hours is a good approximation and the rumble doesn’t seem to affect the charge.

  • Marquette Leach

    Why didn’t my name post?????
