Wii U price and launchAfter much anticipation, Nintendo has officially announced the North American Wii U price and launch date. Just like in the Japanese market, Nintendo will launch with two Wii U models: one starting at $299, and a Premium model at $349. Nintendo also announced some accessories for the console, including stands for the GamePad.

The “base” model will be in white and will include the Wii U console, Wii U GamePad, all necessary cables (including HDMI), and feature 8 GB internal storage. This model will retail at $299.

The “Premium” model will be called “Deluxe”, will come in black, and will up the internal storage to 32 GB flash memory. the Deluxe model is expected to include the new Nintendo Network Premium service, which runs for 2 years and offers gamers 10% off on software and game downloads. This model costs $349, and will include Nintendo Land.

Finally, the Wii U launches on November 18, 2012 across North America. Just like Wii U Daily reported back in April.

Looking forward to importing this to Australia as soon as possible 😀

    • Gamechemist8

I’m definitely getting the Deluxe! 4x memory and NintendoLand? Yeah buddy!

  • Mr. Will

I’m confused, there’s four different prices up there.

    • Macarony64

Lol you just read the same 2 twice

    • revolution5268

depends on where you live, in the us it cost $300-350.

    • Behind you

OMG it’s been announced yes! I’m so getting premium

  • Tom

    Europe Nov. 30th

  • AcesHigh

I won the bet! 🙂 LOL!

The roumor reported earlier was Nov11th by the “analysts” and I stuck with Nov 18th 🙂 A dude at GameStop even “let me in on a secret” last week and said it was going to be Nov 14 (WTF?). FAIL! LOL! 🙂

Just an example of paying attention to history to predict the future!

  • Jon

$299 for the basic 8GB White Wii U package
$349 for the Premium Black Wii U package with Nintendo Land, 2 years of Nintendo Premium, and various stands/mounts.

$299 is 50 dollars too much for the basic package. $349 for the Premium is fine by me.

Nintendo needs to tread softly. People here are blind and will probably disagree with that statement but those who can think about this objectively can agree when one considers what Nintendo is up against.

Excited for this console. Zelda Wii U, 3D Mario Wii U, and Metroid Wii U are alone enough reason for me to buy a Wii U. You can’t beat Nintendo’s Big 3.

    • Draco Breach

Based on the Deluxe Set price alignment, I completely agree.

They may suffer from a nasty bit of whiplash if they have to commit to another early price adjustment for the Basic Set, similar to the 3DS.

Still. I’m happy overall. With Nintendo’s ridiculously huge library, I’m much happier to pay for premium service. There are more Nintendo eShop titles I’m interested in than PSN or XBL.

Now I’ll just sit and impatiently wait for Wii U preorders to open 🙁

      • 007 1/2

i think u can off the nintendo site

        • Draco Breach

      • Nintedward.

They should bundle Nintendo land with it at Christmas.

    • [GHOST]

I don’t know, guy; $299 is pretty much what a lot of people were expecting. Nintendo’s home consoles have had a trend of increasing by $50 after the GameCube, I didn’t think calling for $249 made much sense to me from the beginning. Though this problem only matters now, when the Sony and Microsoft release their next consoles it should be fine. 🙂

  • dawnofmorning

Awesome! The best news I’ve heard in awhile. Thanks Nintendo!!!

  • Britton

Wahoo! The deluxe edition sounds awesome. 🙂 I will definitely preorder the deluxe. Price points are perfect. Release date was expected.

  • Kahhhhyle

Wish I could get a white deluxe… I hate it when the manufacturers do that:-\

    • 007 1/2

      i want a black basic

  • Albinopig

    Holy….Shit, Just Holy…Shit.

  • Josh

Will include Nintendo Land? Glad to know. Nintendo Land looks interesting but I wouldn’t buy it if it came separately but since it is coming with the Wii U, I’m not complaining.

    • Monica

The deluxe includes Nintendo Land, the basic doesn’t.

  • Vehdrehl

Now if only Australian pricing would take into account actual current exchange rates..

    • victor

same with brazilian. they will sure overprice it. i bet im getting wiiu here in Brazil for no less than 800 dollars (in my currency ofcourse).

  • AwayToHit

Getting the $349 package. Also, Bayontta 2 exclusive to Wii U O_O Shut up and take my money!!!!!

    • AwayToHit

      Bayonetta 2*

    • Draco Breach

I’m more interested in The Wonderful 101 actually :p

It has a kinda Viewtiful Joe [slash] Bastion feel to it. The preview narration helped a little. “I knew I forgot somebody. [dramatic pause] You.”

I am very very pleased with what they are giving us…$349.00 for 32GB, plus Nintendoland game…perfect. Everything they showed, from TVii, to the games, well I stand up and salute ya this time Nintendo. Thanks for putting in almost everything I wanted and trying to fix everything I have been saying needs to be fixed this time around. I have always been Nintendo4Life, but this just made me extra happy today for sure…

  • VideoGameFreako

I think it should be cheaper.

  • Draco Breach

I’ll be going for the Wii U Deluxe Set. Now I just have to wait for locations to start taking preorders.

I was actually rather impressed with the Nintendo TVii setup. It integrates some of the best ideas from PDA-style universal remotes and adds an extra layer of innovation. On top of that, Nintendo made it as intuitive as they are known to.

I expect attempts to copy Nintendo TVii in the coming months.

I think Nintendo hit the right price point with the Wii U Deluxe Set. As others, I am concerned about the Wii U Basic Set price point. If an extra $50 gets you a game and two-year subscription to Nintendo Network, the Wii U Basic probably should have been $250 instead. I’m going to hand over $350 to Nintendo for everything extra in the Deluxe, but I don’t see the Basic selling nearly as well as it would with a different price alignment.

    Just one thing Nintendo.

When will you make it possible to take my money?

    • Zelda Fiend

I find just about everything Nintendo does is intentional. The close price, the big package, a game that only comes with the deluxe? Its all strategy. They know people will rush for the best package, but in case they don’t, Nintendo keeps a slightly cheaper but still profitable model on the market for the holiday season.

I would say by January we will see the prices and packages adjusted, namely that basic model. By having two models if they need to do a drastic price drop they can do it to the lower model only, add something extra to the higher package at 350, and avoid looking like a repeat of the 3ds fiasco. Like I said, strategy.

I also believe it wont be long before we see an external expansion drive of some sort as an accessory. Nintendo loves their accessories.

      • rafael

I think the idea is that people could buy the wiiu only for the gamepad tv functionalities too, without being interested in any games…i think.

  • The Baconator

Well, my prediction was right(and probably a lot of other people’s as well lol). $300 sounds great to me and the sunday before black friday.

  • Andrew

I wonder how many people who wanted white want black now?

    • Kahhhhyle

Well anybody who wants the deluxe doesn’t have a choice now I still prefer the white aesthetically but ill suck it up and buy black for better internals and a discount that I’m sure will pay for the 50$ over 2 years

    • frank

I actually plan to get the premium because I’ve got a white wii and a 6 year old brother so it will help him tell the two apart. Plus getting the basic and then a game will be about the same price as getting premium plus you get extras. Nintendo land will probably retail between 40 and 50 and most really good games now are 50-60. Overall not much difference except color

      • Kahhhhyle

And memory:) thats the real reason I gotta go black 8 gigs won’t cut It when my ps3 is 120 gigs and my Xbox is 250 gigs I’m not used to having to worry about memory

  • Dan7el(Wiiu day one purchase)

Hurray for the 2 years of free premium service. I was planning on paying for that anyways. I so hope that part is true. 10% off = awesome!
    Nintendo is the bombomb

    • Nintedward

Bring on the 6 year package!!!

  • ei8bitNinty

Well probably looking forward for DELUXE pack. 349 dollars seems a reasonable price for me. I’m in PH, that’s probably 17k -18k pesos plus tax. Next Year will be the time…

  • Bruno

Am I the only one who’s bummed the Deluxe version doesn’t come in White?

    • EvanescentHero

      You’re not.

Of course, I was never gonna get a white one anyway.

    • Kahhhhyle

No your not. Its same BS Microsoft pulled with the Xbox 360 elite

  • Ken

Just got home from Gamestop. Pre Ordered the Deluxe version. Can’t wait. FYI…. Gamestop is also not going to carry extra copies of release games to sell. You have to pre order any game you want with it for day one.

    • benatard9

also… GameStop lets you preorder two consoles!

  • elbossmx

I wish they come up with a white Deluxe one not far from launch. I don’t want to be forced into buying the black one, but I won’t pay 250 for basic plus another $50 or $60 for a game.
If Nintendo lands costs $50, then the basic set is a total rip-off.
We want white Wii U’s Nintendo!!!!

  • elbossmx

Also, they didn’t say anything about the Wii U Pro Controller price. And no bundle has it. That’s just dissapointing.

    • lobo

Im sure certain outlets will put together there own package , with accessories including the pro controller

  • Xblade13

This sounds awesome. The Deluxe Version is what I’m getting, I mean, only 50 more bucks includes Nintendo Land, stands for gamepad and console, 32 GB of memory, and a subscription for Nintendo Network for 2 years (10% off eShop games)?! Woohoo! Bravo, Nintendo. Bravo.

Now just to scrounge up $400 for Deluxe package and Mario:P

  • Reali-tGlitch

Considering the simple 1-paycheck pricepoint, it is safe to say I will be getting the premium model. I want mine black, and I want to REALLY play Metroid Blast.

  • JVAN

The Pro controller is $49.99 on Gamestop. Black or White. Thrilled the deluxe is Black! Wish it came with a pro controller, or a package option with a pro controller for like $374.99.

  • Nintendo Power

Reasonable price and a good release date ALLLL YEAAAAA….Who’s Excited

  • Madmagican

FINALLY!!! we have a price and release date 😀 I really want the Deluxe model because it comes with a better deal and more storage space, but I’d be fine with a basic model too… now we just have to wait two months O.e

  • Jetty

    Come on 2013 Metroid….

  • Radojko95

One thing remains … How much will the games cost 😛

  • Case

When can we pre order the wii u?

    • Ken

I ordered mine this morning at GameStop

    • theyoshiking20

go to click learn more about wiiu then click pre order

  • NoPUNintendo

Tears of joy flow down my cheeks today. As I sell my PSVita and Ps3 with all the games. All 341 of my Ps3 games. Because I know, the money that I held into my hands, will be going into the future of gaming. For I have preordered both the basic and premieum Wii U, and fully put all the money I needed into gamestop, now I have hundreds of dollars left. I already preordered a few Wii U games. But nay, the rest of this money shall not be spent for anything other than Nintendos newest games. I look at the recpiet I got from gamestop. A lot of money was spent today, for the joy that not just I, but my entire family will enjoy this holiday season.

    • No One

  • Colton S.

SOOOOOO GETTING THE DELUXE!! I’ve been waiting for the Nintendo Land Bundle!! I’m asking for games for Christmas and my birthday!!

  • SteampunkJedi

The premium model will be 50$ more than the base model, and will include Nintendo Land. That sounds like a great bargain to me.

  • mario is epic

when bayonetta gets a release date i will freeze myself till then

  • TheUNation

I’m impressed at the options of getting the Wii U. When it’s all said and done, I’m pre-ordering the Wii U Deluxe set… especially with a 32GB SD card. And when the system is released, I’ll buy myself an additional game and a Pro controller.

  • SuperWiiEntertainmentSystem

Awesome! November 18th is also my birthday! 🙂

      RESPECT SuperWiiEntertainmentSystem

  • 2K RichKid

Man. Hope the wii u online be better then the wii. Black wii u looks why better then the white. 🙂

  • meliza

Does the Wii U Basic bring a game like the Wii with Wii Sports? I hope there is a game even though I am going to get the one anyway.

  • Minecrafter

wiiu deluxe is $449.99, NOT $349.99

  • Joshua

Is the wii u compatible with a regular wii remote?(before 2010)?

    • Lazara The Last

  • ssb4

  • Kris

Ok….. Now selling my legs, $200 a leg…….. who whats to be 6′ foot for a little bit???

  • Travis

Why the big fuss about the color? Does it even matter what color it is? Ppl just have to find something 2 complain about!

  • Amanda

Who could possibly think 299/349 is too much!? It’s Wii U for god’s sake! That’s way cheaper than I thought 😀

  • Pikmaster

    i was expecting 250$…
Damn. i guess nintendo realizes how awesome wiiu is.

  • WarioForever

    Europe price for the Deluxe?
    Does anyone know?

  • Wii u

I’m still picking the color I want. Basic= NSMBU BUYING WITH IT.

    Which one to pick?

    • WarioForever

      Deluxe, believe me, it’s better.

    • Elite

  • andy

    • andy

  • Wii U Fan Central

  • pvkk

I hope our local retailer is high on pixie dust,
350€ for basic, 400€ for premium.

But still getting Zombi U edition (premium with nintendo land switched to zombi u), even if its going to be the 450€.

This in Finland, any other euro using countries?
