There’s no denying that Ubisoft are betting big on the Wii U. They got 6 games coming out for the console during the launch window, and a few more games in development. The Wii U hasn’t gotten any bigger praise than from the team working on ZombiU.

The latest praise comes from ZombiU creative director Jean-Phillipe Caro, who said in a recent interview that the Wii U is the most “innovative console on Earth today”, and that the development team didn’t have to do the “big innovation” themselves, it was on a system that was innovative itself. He said:

“The Wii U is the most innovate system for the moment on Earth. We didn’t have to make a big innovation on our side –- it was all here on the system so that was easier for us”

ZombiU Wii U developerThis isn’t the first time we’ve seen Ubisoft developers sharing their enthusiasm for the Wii U. Last month, Rayman Legends creator praised the Wii U and said it was perfect for 2D games. Top brass at Ubisoft have even suggested that the Wii U could be more popular than the original Wii console.

Ubisoft is supporting the Wii U with 9 confirmed titles. A few months ago, the company revealed that it costs them around $1 million to port a game to the Wii U for including titles such as Assassin’s Creed 3. That’s relatively low compared to building a game from scratch on a brand new system — a game like ZombiU.

ZombiU will be available on day one when the Wii U launches on November 18 in the US and on November 30 in Europe. If that’s not enough, they’re already thinking of doing a ZombiU sequel.

    • AKA-Link77

      Lol Yah!
Ive heard lots of enthusiasm from ubisoft and thats great, but i would like to hear the other devs express enthusiasmn as well. 😀

      • Zeta

Along with enthusiasm i would like to hear that Watch Dogs for the Wii U has started production.

        • xdlugia

Watch Dogs? I’d rather have GTA V (Los Santos>Hong Kong)

          • JumpMan

well, even if GTA doesn’t come, ya still got Lego City: Undercover!

  • rjm420247

  • Major Beauner

    • u mad bro

oh oh…wait what…oh ooohhh I saw what you did there

  • NintendGo

Its good to see all this enthusiam from Ubisoft. All we need is for people to stop hating Nintendo. Nintendo is a good company, but people think that Nintendo consoles are for little girls just because it doesnt have all the things xbox and ps4 have. Well dear Nintendo haters, I see that the xbox/ps4 controller has a screen on it too. Oh wait it DOESNT.HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHAHA! and it looks like your console is getting a lot of attention OH wait It isnt HAHAHAHAHAH nintendo is the one with all the attention now.

    • NintendGo

opps i meant xbox 360 and ps3 sorry my bad

      • NintendGo

        everyone makes mistakes

    • NintendGo

2 dislikes? i think my comment was good

      • Lord Carlisle

It was! Those who disagree are probably the Xbox360/PS3 fanboys.

        • NintendGo

          Thanks Lord Carlisle

    • Colton

Implying the screen makes the controller better automatically (it doesn’t).
Implying the Wii U should be compared to the 360 and PS3 (it shouldn’t).
Implying that hating Nintendo is any worse than hating Microsoft and Sony (it isn’t).
Implying that the Wii U having more attention than consoles in the generation before it (unless PS2, because it’s somehow still selling) is impressive in any way, and that it has more attention than consoles that haven’t even been shown is impressive (it really isn’t).

Now, I love Nintendo. But I find the attitude here far too fanboyish/fangirlish to be taken seriously.

  • Nick

I’m glad to hear praise for Nintendo, but “innovation” and all derived terms seem to have lost some meaning. Now every minor technological change is a major “innovation”.

    • Wils81

      Blame Apple.

      • Nick

        I do blame Apple.

        • alex

Dont blame apple cuse they are responsable for rhe big change of smartphone and tablets…the real guilty is Microsoft and the crapy xbox that now if not have high graphics, online, blood, sex and drugs is not for hard core it was so good when it was sega and Nintendo and later Sony wich I like after Nintendo…but he come MS and ruin all after they was working, with sega in the dreamcast they, dicede to do the shiet box Nd the stuid xbox live when in psn you, get, the same for free…so is not apple is MS

          • xXHaizeXx

Umm..please learn to type, spell and use correct grammer. Thank you.

          • Dundee910

    • SteampunkJedi

That’s true, but Nintendo innovates in the strongest sense of the word.

      • xXHaizeXx

    • Zeta

its true that in this case the Wii U and its controller may not be seen as a major innovation but i guess its because other than what Nintendo brings, innovation has become scarce so every change is now innovation, like people calling the switch-up of CODs class setting an “innovation” and sticking stronger tech that has been available for a couple of years into a console is also “innovation”.

So technically Ubisoft put it the best way possible saying the Wii U is the most ‘innovative’ console.

    • Melk

      Innovative for consoles, obviously….

      • Zeta

lol, that’s an odd statement seeing as PCs don’t innovate much, the tech they contain does and even then that is really in increments of power and not really innovation the innovation is basically how they change up the tech to become more efficient and things of that like and eventually the same tech comes to other consoles

  • TheHydra707

In before the notorious troll Enigmatic comes in guns a blazin! Preaching the Microsoft/Sony doctrine.

    • Jetty

lol This is the funniest comment I’ve seen on this website.

    • Nintenlord

Cant come guns blasing whit out ammo

  • Madmagican

Glad to see more praise for the Wii U; I can’t wait to get some hands-on experience

  • link 5

I want to get this game so bad but my little sis is to young to watch my father didn’t let me pres order it instead I got assassin’s creed III

    • Kav

      First world problems…

    • Colton

Because ACIII will be so much better to watch… right.

  • Lamsaturn

    No chuck.

  • Nintyfan

Anyway Wii U is not the most innovative,IPAD 3,IPHONE 5, NEXUS 7, SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 is way more innovative!

    • Zhenya

not sure if trolling or serious :/

    • PKUltima

Well we are talking about consoles here and their primary purpose is for games and not apps even though Nintendo has a lot of good apps coming to the Wii-U.

    • Jetty

I gave you a thumb up to help my biased nature. People can have different opinions than me. *mild stroke*

      • Jeffery02

It’s ok, we all know you probably just hit the wrong one on your touch screen. You wouldn’t be the first.

        • Jetty

          Nah, I’m on a Mac.

    • Jeffery02

The iPad is NOT innovative, it’s a large clone of the iPhone. The iPhone is NOT innovative, it’s a PDA fused with a Cell Phone (Which Blackberry did before Apple anyway). Everything Android is everyone else trying to one up Apple by making their own PDA/Cell Phone hybrids. As far as Smartglass is concerned, it’s touch screen only, a clear Wii U clone, doesn’t allow you to play games away from the tv, and has to use Wi-Fi. Using Wi-Fi either means it only works on newer 360s or you have to have a wireless router, and the instant your router has issues, or maybe even just loses online connection, it could be a complete headache for some people.

The Wii U is essentially a super-charged DS/Wii hybrid with a detached bottom screen. The Wii U may not be new in every way, but at least Nintendo took things THEY thought of and fused them together in a way nothing ever was before. So YES, the Wii U is the most innovative consumer electronic out there to date. Nintendo is doing something that no one has ever done before, and many are trying to copy from now on.

Now am I ranting? Most likely. Am a completely wrong? Doubtful. If you don’t like what I had to say, then should you even be on this site? Probably not.

      • PKUltima

I really enjoyed your comment, here’s a like.

        • just NINTENDO

yes it is Wii U is the most innovative console on earth WII U

      • Colton

To my understanding, SmartGlass isn’t supposed to be a Wii U clone/rip-off so much as trying to make everything you have able to access your Microsoft stuff. It’s literally just an app on your Windows 8 or Smartphone or Tablet that lets you have stuff along with the game or movie you’re playing or watching.

Meanwhile the Wii U is a lot more. While possible the SmartGlass was inspired by Wii U, it’s hardly even the same thing beyond that you can use a touch-screen for XBox Live (and Microsoft has been trending to unify all your stuff as has Apple and Google).

Microsoft isn’t just a game company, while Nintendo is. That means Microsoft can make a gamble with SmartGlass, even half do it, and not worry about collapse. They can just shrug off it failing as they make money in everything else. Meanwhile, Nintendo has to make the Wii U Gaming+ or it’s just going to drag them down. They’re trying to compete with everyone but not stop being a gaming company, while Microsoft is trying to compete with everyone while being everything.

At least I see it that way, so yeah.

      • JumpMan

are you my most favorite person in the whole world now? probably!

  • King rat

Ubisoft have done a great job on this game for a launch title just like they did with red steel back when the wii was launched. I have a feeling this game will give a good first impression to users of what the system can do interaction wise with the new controller.

  • Lucifer

Give that guy a nobke peace prize. I love nintendo thats why theyre gods. The other companies should take notes lol and they probably are taking notes

  • SteampunkJedi

I sure like Ubisoft now. I hope other companies use the GamePad in interesting ways like ZombiU.

  • Jeffery02

“If that’s not enough, they’re already thinking of doing a ZombiU sequel.”
The thing I find funny about this sentence is that ZombiU is already a “sequel” to Zombi. Just throwing that random bit of info out there. Beyond that though if I have enough money after paying the system off, then I will pre-order this and NSMBU as well. Wii U Deluxe for the win!!!

  • Jetty

This isn’t really “breaking news” but it is great to see. Ubisoft has put great investment and risk into the Wii U. ZombiU won’t be a launch title for me, but has sparked enormous curiosity that will lead to my purchase. My hat’s off to Ubisoft, they have earned my respect as a Nintendo fan. They nearly shouldered Nintendo for E3.

Ubisoft I have one more greedy request….

  • Benjaminkno

Ubisoft is a great developer, and was it Square? that said never bet against Nintendo? I have a hard time seeing why there’s so much hate. Anybody else think Nintendo’s worse times are behind them? They seem much more humble since the 64 days for sure. I’d say they’re only 1 more console away from repairing all the years of neglect with 3rd party devs. We’ll see if consumers respond to Wii U.

    • PKUltima

I would LOVE it if Square started developing for Nintendo again. Square was definetley at its finest during the SNES era.

      • Jetty

I agree 100% but it won’t happen. I won’t buy into any hype until it happens. Come back Squaresoft, I mean Enix…

  • Lusunup

Ubisoft has always been with us since the wii (Supposedly the worst console compared to xbox and ps3) I stuck with the best of the best and to that we thank you.

  • NaX

does any1 know if all games will be dl when they launch?

    • JumpMan

all Nintendo first party games will be on the day they launch as a physical copy.

  • Paul

nintendo said they will but it depends on the publisher like capcom, ea etc

  • ymmit1

YEAH I CANT WAIT FOR ZOMBIEU. Ninty had finally got me back like i was a big Ninty fan untill the Wii i did have it from launch but i was very sad at nintendo for making it soooo kiddy. what happened to them they went from making adult games to kiddy. but good to see them making some more adult games like zombieu i already have it on preorder hahah makes you wonder why you would get the white bundle hahahah. cant wait for pikmin3 i loved it on the game cube there is a few other games i want too like black ops 2 and 007 legends i so hope capcom brings out resident evil 6 on wiiu that would be great they have always been big on nintendo

    • JumpMan

um, they never made “adult” games. they made games adults, kids, teens, elderly people, and college kids loved. stuff like StarFox, Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Metroid, and other AMAZING franchises that most everyone loves (excluding most MS and Sony fanboys and most non-gamers)

      • ymmit1

yeah they did game like duke nukem 64, konkers bad fur day, doom forsaken and starcraft they where not made for kids or teens thats all i can think of atm but there was tonnes of them. They just stopped when the Wii came out cause they just wanted to go for the easy way out and go for family. i so cant wait till jan next year least the R18+ will come into effect in australia so no kids will be able to buy most games like cod and stuff like that. Most games that are too have too much gore get banned in Aus like mortal kombat least as of next year that wont happen most games like cod and stuff like that get our highest rating atm witch is ma15+

  • Johny

aaw xd news like that just make my day :3 … awsome xD

  • ssb4

    This is totally siickk!

ZombiU is going to be the shit!

    Definitely buying this game!

    • JumpMan

is that supposed to be a good thing?

  • ZombieGuns

I have ZombieU perordered with my Wii U deluxe. I know my friends will want a Wii U console once they see how awesome this game is with the touchscreen gamepad.

  • Arsonist Monkey

Oh no! So many months to wait…..I know!
I will sit down with my Wii, have a pint and wait for this to all blow over!
