A big question that’s been on many gamers’ minds with the Wii U is how well does the GamePad work, and does it lag behind the TV? We’ve previously seen a video that proves that the Wii U GamePad in fact updates faster than the TV. Now we got another video that tests the lag and responsiveness of the controller and its touchscreen.

And the result is very positive. In fact, it’s impressive how well Nintendo has engineered the controller, and it seems that lag and responsiveness was a top priority. In fact, the slight lag that the video shows actually happens on the TV, not the controller itself. Check it out for yourself:

Nintendo’s done a fantastic job. Can’t wait to get my hands on the new controller!

    • u mad bro FC: 0559-7101-5495

Can’t wait to get the Deluxe set…maybe. *sigh* I haven’t preordered the Wii U so I’m screwed. My birthday passed and I have $158 which is not enough to buy the WiiU. But heed my words, I shall purchase the Wii U before November ends. Good luck fellow Nintendo Fans.

      • moi

only 158$??man thats too low.im 14 years old and i have 1030โ‚ฌ(without the coins) but i think its a waste buying the deluxe for i wasnt planning on buying nintendo land anyway.and thinking i have to get 18/20 at least at the first semester im going nuts(having had 16/20 last year)

        • u mad bro FC: 0559-7101-5495

Yeah the reason I don’t have that much money because I bought a stinkin Ipod 4th generation and theres the upcoming ipod 5th generation!!!oh well there all the same anyways.

          • Cugno the Swiss

I’m a musician and a huge music lover, I bought my iPod back in 2009, and most part of those 120 GB are still free. It’s the only Apple product I ever bought (and that I’ll ever buy), but it’s worth it. No need to change it, it works just fine.

          • alex

why did you buy the ipod? i was in the same position and am a musicion so i need somthing good for my metal demos…but i refuse to pay 350 usa dollars for an ipod 32g and i have 400 to buy it…so i went online i reserch and found the samsung galaxy player 4.0 that runs on android 2.3.6 with only 8g of memory with micro sd to go up to 32g…gps free…bluethooth 3.0…and 500,000 apps for 150.00 in amazon and a 32g sd card for 20 so i pay just 210 including taxes and shiping and now my galaxy is 40g and i love it with the res i when to GS and get the 3ds…i like the ipods but the touch is over rating and over price….also i preorder the wii u basic with COD and is all ready pay….i hope in the realese day they have more deluxe cuse when i made my preorder deluxe was sold outand they only have basics ones so beater basic than nothing at all

        • derek

if you get the deluxe it comes with nintendo land. 350 for the deluxe, 300 for the basic. the game nintendo land is 60. so you save money buying the deluxe. plus 4 times the amount of memory and the eshop savings and the stands and stuff.

          • WiiUnov18

did you get the pro controler too

        • link 5

So what I am the same age and I allready have the money cause I saved up should have though ahead

  • Laud

I had faith Nintendo knew what they were doing, and I was right to have faith because Nintendo is Nintendo. :3

  • Jacob

Very impressive! Can’t wait to get my hands of one of these!

    • Shane

      I like your “MegaMan” Link.

      • AKA-Link77

        itsa’ MEGA-LINK!

  • fnc73

Interesting. I trust in Nintendo products. Durable, accurate, and you don’t see the technical issues you may find on an xbox or ps3. Nintendo definately delivers quality consoles.

  • Ninjafish

I can’t even tell if there is a difference XD

  • Ed

    Lag? What’s that? Nintendo WiiU.

    • Nintedward

The most impressive thing here is Rayman legends is 1080p aswell 60fps on the tv . So the wiiu is dealing with the 1080p TV 60fps and streaming a different interactive version of the image to the gamepad at 60fps aswell.

The developer said ”the wiiu can do 1080p……..blah blah…….”.

The wiiu is very very impressive .

      • Neonridr

in essence the game is being rendered twice by the system with one being displayed to the TV and the other being displayed to the gamepad.

How these fanboys can even attempt an argument that the Wii U is not more powerful than the 360 or PS3 is beyond me.. and doing this with 1080p/60 frames per second.

The PS360 does 30 frames per second and is lucky if the game is native 720p.

        • Nintedward

Exactly !!! and the two screens are different (although sometimes the same) operating totaly different commands . The gamepad taking touch contoll orders and the TV taking pro controller orders in perfect unaltered 1080p sync.

Its not ”on par” with the ps3 and 360 . Its a LOT FU%KING BETTER considering its sh%ting all over those consoles at launch .

The wiiu is too complex for sony and micro fanboys to just understand that its indeed way better than their beloved old consoles.

        • Morley94

Ok I love the Wii U as much as the next guy but let’s get real here, you people are almost as bad as the Xbox and PS3 “fanboys” when you say things that aren’t true just to talk trash. Ps3 and Xbox are able to run 1080p and 60 fps, it just depends on the game. That’s equal to the Wii U, so neither console is better in that area.

          • Nintedward

Nope ……. PS3 and xbox have next to 0 1080p 60fps on them . They’re not powerfull enough . They couldn’t probably even run Rayman legends in Native 1080p 60fps .

            I think you’re confusing Native 1080p with upscaled 1080p .

The ps3 and 360 have bag loads of upscaled 1080p but hardly any native 1080p games.

Even final fantasy and uncharted 3 , just the cutscenes are native 1080p , then the gameplay drops down to 720p to help the framerte and performance.

            Wiiu >>>>>>>ps3>360.

          • Neonridr

It’s true, you can google it. The PS3 has less than 10 games that are native 1080p, and none are up to the complexity of a game like ZombiU. The Xbox 360 has even less at like 3 games that are 1080p.

Upscaled 1080p is easy. Native is an entirely different feat.

          • Morley94

I think you guys are getting me wrong, I think the Wii U is going to be great, no doubt about it. And it’s going to be more powerful than the PS3 and 360 guaranteed, but the PS3 is not bad. Let’s give the system some credit, not the fanboys who talk shit on nintendo for no reason. Everyone here is too crazy about the console war, just know the Wii U is better and relax. And to nintedward, I may be confusing those; i’m not too familiar with the difference, so I have no doubt you have a point. But my point is the system isn’t garbage like people claim it to be.

And don’t forget to poorly rate my comment, all you hardcore fans out there who can’t stand to hear anyone say that the Wii U isn’t Jesus Christ.

          • Neonridr

wait, I thought the Wii U was the second coming of Jesus??

You mean they lied to me?!?!?!?

          • Shankovich

Buddy, the GameCube could run 1080p at 60fps of we did some tweaking, problem is the game would have N64 level of polygons and shading. The point is the Wii U can run better textures and higher versions of OpenGL/CL than the 360 or PS3 at 1080p/60. They don’t make x1800 GPU’s for anymore except for Microsoft now, do your homework man lol

          • Derp

I knew that they could run 1080p. But I haven’t heard of a game that ran at 60 frames per second at that resolution. Maybe if we port some GameCube games then we could change that…

But you are right there, the Wii U isn’t the first console to render 1080p. However it is the first to render 1080p natively.

  • retlaw

    Nintendo!!! Ahhh!!

  • Kamon

This game looks purely amazing! Love how responsive the Gamepad is.

  • MinowaEli

My question to those who have played with the Gamepad:
    How’s the glare?

    • frank (3dsFC=5155-3120-0417)

There’s sure to be a brightness setting like on the 3DS. I personally play at level 1 w/ power saving unless I’m outside, because there’s just no need for me to have it bright. But until its release I don’t think we’ll know.

  • EPiC

Very impressive… I can’t say I had any doubts though, Nintendo always seems to deliver a very solid product. I think the only product that was bad was the Analog stick the N64 controller… It had a tendency to wear out. Freaking awesome Nintendo, well done. Now to wait for my Deluxe to come in with some ZombiU

  • The Detonator

    wow…just wow!

    • Dan

Weird, my n64 controller lasts 5 years unlike Xbox360, i bought another controller and now almost bad as well,,,

  • Nintenlord(3dsFc1246-9697-5107

I trust nintendo in givin us quality in his tec,ppl seems to forget that the reason that there are so many xbox is cause ppl have to buy more than 1 while the wii are very much all working

    • u mad bro FC: 0559-7101-5495

Dude your Mii on the 3ds is a hobo and your name is macorony. What is that about? Anyways Nintenlord have you tried the gamepad yet? Is it comfortable? Awesome? If you did let me know.

      • MinowaEli

Many people already have stated the Gamepad to be comfortable.

      • frank (3dsFC=5155-3120-0417)

I think his mii looks cool. Macarony is spelled wrong though…

        • Cugno the Swiss

          It’s actually maccheroni.

        • Nintenlord(3dsFc1246-9697-5107

      • Nintenlord(3dsFc1246-9697-5107

Are you calling my awesome 70 era mii a hobo? Dude thats the idea ๐Ÿ™‚ . I haven got to try the wiiu but i did use to have a 360 and a ps3 they both die
That why i know many of the ps3 and 360 numbers are counting consoles that dont work

        • Nintedward

I love your mii Nintenlord ๐Ÿ™‚ . Looks like some disco pimp .

Do you have Nintendo letterbox or swap note ?? I sent you a letter!

          • Nintenlord(3dsFc1246-9697-5107

Did swap note works online? I will dl it right now

          • Nintedward

@nintenlord , swap note is awesome .!!! in england its called ”Nintendo letter box” but its the same thing . You can add 3d pictures , recordings and spend play coins on backgrounds and stuff . Its awesome!!! for arangeing game sessions and stuff , get on it bro !

        • u mad bro FC: 0559-7101-5495

we were terrible on Mariokart7 but at least we’ll beat Nintedward.

          • Nintedward

Excuse me , brah :P?????? I’m dominator of worlds on mario kart 7 :)/

          • Herox95

Pffft. You should verse me. I’m pratically very good at Mario Kart games.

          • eyesac

Hmmm, wondering if I share my friend code or not….

  • Ledreppe

Couldn’t detect any lag at all, it must be milliseconds.

    • Yodin

i agree, i could not see much of a lag i cannot give a thumbs down for this…looks awesome.

  • Nintenjoe64

I don’t know why people thought this would be an issue. It’s sad that the haters have been so loud that any positive, that would otherwise be assumed, is being presented as shock news. Nintendo could’ve helped things by having a graphically impressive first party game to tease us with!

I can almost smell my wii u. Release day is gonna be awesome but new console Christmases are even better.

    • Herox95

I can smell mine too. I’M HUNGRY FOR A WII U!

  • Wii u

  • dubYA

Very, very impressive! If there’s any lag, I honestly can’t tell. The touchscreen looks incredibly responsive, even more so than the capacitive touchscreen in my Droid 3.

Nintendo always knows how to get the very best out of it’s tech while still hitting that sweet price point. Looks like they’ve done it again!

  • Chris

I have to say that Nintendo did a fine job tuning the gamepad up with the tv, it looks great.

I did notice some lag when they showed a video about it on the Ytubes but here I

    • Chris

*I can see that they have improved a lot since then which was back in August ^^

I can’t wait, only 1 month and 30 days to go =3 (for us in Europe)

  • Fuzunga

In my experience, the screen is fantastic.

  • kingtendo

the fearless might have the potential to end or threaten to end xbox and sony’s gaming bizz.

the nintendo fearless will change the way we play game’s 4ever.

    • Herox95

Aw maan, why didn’t Nintendo name their new console Nintendo Fearless?

  • Phrog

Awesome I like how it’s a hidden camera thing!

  • D2K

The touchscreen actually refreshes a tick faster than the screen. I saw it in a video somewhere. But suffice it to say that the there won’t be any lag issues at all.

  • kingtendo

the fearless will rule sony and xbox 4ever..

and u can bet that ps4 and xbox720 will try to copy the fearless.but they will fail.

  • LogicalDude

Nice video. Looks like it was shot with a chest mounted GoPro. Looks very challenging if you’re playing it alone.

  • dojo

ik this is random but i love the videos music lol and wiiu stands for amazing

  • TheUNation

The quality of Nintendo stays true to a singular word when it comes to new game consoles and accessories. The Wii U truly shows the quality and responsiveness of the GamePad streaming directly to the HDTV. Virtually flawless. Just 46 days away until it launches in stores across North America.

  • Trev

    What game I that ?

    • Dan

      Rayman Legends

  • ssb4 FC3007 8585 6950

I KNEW IT that gamepad had no lag! it was that slow TV!

  • RoboticLink

Can’t wait for this “toy computer”. lol. Pathetic, PC fans.

    • Shane

I know me too. Once it comes out, my “toy computer” will be the only computer I play with. I won’t be on here anymore probably unless they still support Wii U related news after release. BTW I read that article and it shouldn’t offend danyone…

    • Herox95

Haha. A PC is a toy, because people toy around with it! Get it?

I wanna play that in bed! bye bye IPad3.

    • Herox95

      Me too. :3

  • Joesatmoes

i cant believe u guys. being so surprised at the fact ther is like no latency. Pfft! the Wii U could do that without breaking a sweat! imean COME ON! we all know Nintendo is awesome!

lol sorry 4 my ignorance, but it is should not be a surprise…

  • Madmagican

no lag’s great!! …but didn’t we see this before? Having a slow day Wii U Daily?

    • Dan

The 1st one is videostreaming from console to tv to gamepad,,this one from gamepad input to tv,,, i play temple run on galaxy tab and theres a considerable lag!! Lol u have to turn quicker than normal

  • Nintendo Power (Star Mission)

The Wii U Gamepad proves that it updates faster then the TV…..Unlike the PSvita, and it uses internet connections but still fails

  • Nintendude

    *is jealous*

  • Neonridr

It’s awesome that we can now say that we get the Wii U next month!

    I can’t wait!

  • Lusunup

now Imagine the game temple run on wii u no more “what! i flicked left! not down!~dies~” kinda scenes, incredbile just ultra responsive O-O

    • NavyBlueYoshi

As was I lusunup, as was i…

  • RoboticLink

    Who can!

  • Christian

Wow! It’s good to know that Wii U has a faster response time than the actual TV. And it runs smoothly too! Oh, boy, I can’t wait to try this out.

  • Asiancake

Wii u I want it now I remember when they first announce it I’m so
    Going to get one

  • RoboticLink

By the way, how do you change the little picture beside your name.

    • Neonridr

      something called Gravatar..

  • LyingTuna

Today’s my birthday. The money I get determines whether or not I get the system…well, it’s preordered, so I do have it, but it’s about how much cash to borrow… Hm…well, wish me good luck.

  • Xblade13

Awesome. This will be the most EPIC console ever! Can’t wait ’til it launches. As soon as my Gamestop has one set up I’m playin’ it for an hour at the store. I don’t know anyone around here who even knows it’s coming besides family. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Braulio500

    You know, I’m just a bit sad…
My economic situation is a bit tight…
I want a Wii U very much, and I was hoping I could save some money until Christmas and all of that…
    And then… I lost my computer =C
Now, my hopes to get my hands on a Deluxe set of the Wii U got crushed… =C

  • Dan

No wonder i suck online,, Lcd + wifi = dead!! Lol,,,

  • Maverick-Hunter

No lag O.O wow playing a Megaman side scroller would be so fun on the wii u

  • Poncho

Holy crap, that really is incredible.

  • Luck

every ‘lag test’ is making on gamepad that is hooked wired to the console, so we can’t tell then if the data are sending through cable or wireless. If through cable then we still don’t know real lag. But if despite that it’s hooked to the console but still sending data through wireless then it’s impressive. But still I want to see real wireless test, but i guess that wonโ€™t happen until release.

    • Atomuskus

The cable in the video is unshielded, there is no way that video is going through it or you would see hellish amounts of artifacts. That cable is just for power and to prevent theft.

    • Kahhhhyle

I would imagine the wire is for charging. It’s still prolly communicating wirelessly. Don’t want your controller dying during a demo ya know?

  • moneyman

i want to play the fearless so bad,i cant wait.

  • wampdog29

Wait… what was the argument about the GamePad touchscreen…. “but, but, but… it’s resistive and not capacitive…response will suck” Yeah, yeah, yeah. I told you haters so….

  • Neonridr

how do the Mii characters work on the Wii U? Since the Mii’s were created on your specific Wii console, how do they get onto the Wii U? Do we have to spend 30 minutes again recreating our own Wii’s? Or can they be transferred over to the new console somehow?

    • Kahhhhyle

We’ll just have to wait and see. Maybe we’ll be able to sync them through the check mii out channel or something… Worst case we can always save them to wii-motes

      • Shane

System transfer transfers everything i think. Mii memeory files aren’t accesible through the memory management, but they’ll transer I’m pretty sure, and like Kahhhhle said, the Wii remote will hold them for you anyway. No worries GANGSTA!

  • SteampunkJedi

I’m not surprised, because this is Nintendo we’re talking about here. As many have said, The Wii U is looking better and better. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • U Turn

No lag well drrrr it wouldn’t be much use if their was.

  • MujuraNoKamen

How come news is slowing down when we’re so close to launch? There’s got to be something happening in the world of Wii U.

  • HawkEye

    Now your playing with power!

  • dark

I was waching that video and i think my mind just lag in there.
