Wii U playerThere has been much discussion about the Wii U vs the upcoming consoles from Sony and Microsoft, and how it will stack up against them. Nintendo is clearly targeting a core audience this time around, in addition to the casual market, and they believe this strategy will fend off the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox 720, according to Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime.

Speaking to Seattle Times, Reggie touched up on a lot of aspects about the upcoming Wii U, and competition from the rival console makers came up. Asked whether the Wii U can fend off the PS4 and Xbox 720, Reggie said, “Once you talk about what that is, we can probably fend it off”.

Reggie also commented on the longevity of the Wii U, which he believes is based on graphics and a robust online system. He said:

“It’s based on having great graphics, it’s based on having a robust online execution. We believe that this system is going to have a very long life, and it’s going to be very well supported by third-party publishers.”

This might be the first time we’re hearing Nintendo admit that graphics do matter. While innovation and gameplay will always be what drives Nintendo forwards, we can’t escape the fact that a lot of players out there appreciate the technical aspects of a game, such as visuals and effects. We covered this subject extensively in the past, in our featured article “Wii U specs and performance matter, and Nintendo knows this“.

Last month, Reggie said that Nintendo was confident in the Wii U hardware and that the console specs would hold up for a very long time. It clear that the company sees the Wii U as a long-term console.

Lol i’ll believe that when I see it. I love Nintendo but I just can NOT trust anything they say anymore.

    • Troll patrol.

With a comment like that , you are just a collection of butts .

      • some gUy

good show Troll patrol. Without you the comment sections would fall into chaos.

        • AKA-Vote!77

Ofcourse it will fend the other consoles off! 😉
Ive actually been hearing that the Wii U™ will be most consumer’s (including me) ONLY 8th gen console. Even despite being a Fan of the company AND having scarce info on their 8th gen consoles.
Actually. . . can You “Vote” Now?
Thumbs Up if Wii U™ will be your ONLY 8th gen Console. 😀
Thumbs Down if you might buy other 8th gen consoles.

      • Nko Sekirei

        LMFAO thats funny

    • RedRocBoy

Why are you here non believer. For some reason it seems to me that some people don’t want tht WII U to succeed. I just don’t get it. I love Sony I love Microsoft but Nintendo holds a special place in my heart. And I now they rock the next console gen. Cause to alot of peoples dismay the WII U is a next gen console. So deal wit it suckas! Nintendo 4 LIFE!

      • Hmm

How can you love Microsoft? Making you pay for online gaming, having system with a high failure rate, having a system that scratches you discs and only focusing on Kinect while forgetting about the majority of gamers. You don’t have to act like you love every company to sound unbiased.

        • RedRocBoy

Yeah that gold membership crap is stupid. And I don’t even like kinect, just a WII knock off.

          • Jonen

if you ask me,the Move is a Wii knock off. the Kinect is an Eyetoy knock off.

but yeah, i loke Sony and Nintendo, but the Xbox feels like a cash in. you`re better off buying a new graphics card in your pc, than buying an xbox. its cheaper in the long run and does pretty much the same

        • NintendoGamer

Specially since the online used for the 360 it’s also on PC, but free!

      • Me

I like the Playstation system, but I hate the Sony company. And Xbox sucks in general. Ninitendo is the best hands down.

    • gabe

Your statement was so dumb that I got distracted and pressed like instead of dislike, BOOOOOO!

    • Gamechemist8

      Shut up. Just shut up.

    • zombi

and you trust what Michael Pachter saying

    • goginho

      lol ..tell us why NOT.

      • ceramicsaturn

No, don’t ask him to tell us anything.

    • Nko Sekirei

dude really u havent been listening to wat the third party developers been saying about the wii u they alrdy said after tested the system out its 50% more powerful then ps3 and 360 and could give ps4 and 720 a run for their money

      • srpg2ishere

lol dude your name has SEKIREI in it dude i love that show!

        • Night°₣Core

Lol, same here. Which one do you think was better, first season or Pure Engagement? I hope there’s gonna b a 3rd season xD

      • ziggy

its true the wii u is more powerfull it runs at fater speeds and has better graffix chip plus it supports up to 3 terabyte external hard drives no way in hell would xbox nor ps4 pack that much plus graffix unless u wana spend 800$ ps4 wanted hvd holografic video disk format but the player alone is 6,000 dollars so for now its wii u deal with it!

        • asdfg

3T hhd has nothing to do with graphics you fail

      • Jay

How is the Wii U going to give the Xbox 720 and PS4 a run for it’s money when they are not out and no one knows what they will have? If they come with 1080P on all games, 4K, 3D and 10-bit color – Nintendo is in trouble!

        • Truths

Why would 4k be necessary anyway? I don’t know a whole lot of people with TVs that can support over 1080p anyway.

    • Asiancake

Xbox720: what does the power level say on the wii u
      Ps4:it over 9000
      Wii U creams both system

      • jat

        500 hundred episodes later, Ps4 and Xbox720 fuse to form = PlayBox1020
PlayBox1020 starts do cream the WiiU.
Then, the WiiU fuses with OUYA to form = WiiUYA
        WiiUYA wins.

    • Obey weegee 1000

Nintendo is boss, your argument is invalid.

    • Lusunup

Whats so dumb is there is no proof what so ever that there is a xbox 720 and ps4 and there all ready starting a war lol!!!

      • Kyron

      • revolution5268

fanboys man, what can you do about them?

    • God

I agree with butts because the human mind can not completely believe in something without proof and the wii has been a disaster and now the wii u . . . pfft

      • ugslick

Wii was a disaster? Only the best selling video game console of all time. Only had some of the greatest games ever, I get that they were more disperse without multiplats, but honestly the Wii even had some ganes that looked better than some ps360 games.
. Art style matters and Nintendo knows how to get the most from their consoles. Anyways the Wiis success has Microsoft esp but also Sony looking more towards the casual marjet. Microsofts next gen machine will place a lot of emphasis on the new kinect, and in case you never noticed, Nintendo Sony and Microsoft are economic entities. Therefore what they do is driven by economics, namely supply and demand and prpfitability. Xbox 360 & PS3 were both very frankly not even close to Nintendos profitability with the Wii. Sonys whole company is massively sinking in liabilities, and it can’t afford to develop another PS3, technically advanced but much more expensive than the other consoles, because it cost them a lot with PS3. Plus more advanced hardware means greater development costs and means they’ll need way more sales just to break even.. and its only sustainable for bigger studios with better known titles. In short new advanced hardware promotes devs to shy away from innovating, and to be more redundantfor the sake of ‘playing it safe.’ This means more sequels and less new IP which is why the game industry is facing a drought right now. Creative talent needs to shine, and new hardware will also pronote that, but with Wii U its new hardware. Its cheaper to develop fpr than any new systems potentially coming put, its a step up from last gen technically speaking. And its backed heavily by Nintendo who according to all reports are heavily involved with any third party devs and also indie devs, which is promoting creative talent to shine, without raising costs unduely. Therefore it is Nintendos new system as opposed to a new Microsoft or Sony one which will revive the induatry without sinking everyone into ldebt and pronoting the industry to collapse. It is Nintendo which drives the video game industry forward with innovation and gameplay rather than technical advancements in raw power. And it is Nintendo alone on which thia whole industry was built in the first place, so without Nintendobwe gamers are all doomed. So go out and buy a Wii U. Experience genius at its beat. And experience unmatched innovation. Experience the Wii U.

        • Roedburn

I love Nintendo, but need to correct your statement. Wii is the best selling console this generation, not all time. The PS2 is currently the best selling console of all time.

          • Jay

You both need to correct yourselves. The Wii was the best selling console during it’s run, but not of this generation since it is not of this generation, it is of the last generation. Also, the Wii DOES NOT have some of the ‘greatest games ever!” I can’t name ONE Wii classic, not one! The games is what made that system like a Rush Hour on DVD – everyone had it, but no one wanted to borrow it or watch it again!

          • Inias

I need to correct your correction, Jay. Since the 8th gen. consoles are yet to be released, the Wii IS the best selling console of this generation. And if you couldn’t find a classic Wii game then you should actually open your god damn eyes since you obviously have not in the past 6 years. Have you ever heard of Super Mario Galaxy? The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword? GoldenEye 007(remake of the 64 version, I know, but a great game nonetheless)? Metroid Prime 3: Corruption? Get your facts straight before you try to outsmart someone. Super Mario and the Legend of Zelda actually are recognized as the world’s best games, and they have won several awards, and not just the ones for the Wii, so the next time you post a comment, get your facts straight!

I know most people will remember these wonderful games, not because of the graphics (which we all know are pretty shitty in some places), but because of the innovation. With Nintendo, a new game means that you actually get a new game, whether it’s another game in a great series, or a completely standalone game, you always get more than you pay for with a Nintendo game, instead of just improved graphics like with Xbox or PS (not trashtalking the other brands, just telling a well-known truth that applies in most cases).

Nintendo is actually brave enough to come up with new ideas, which may or may not be good, but the important thing is that they try, and most of the time, they do a great job! With the Wii U, they will have revolutionized the world of gaming TWICE, while the Playstation hasn’t even changed it’s controller in 18 years. So in a completely non-partial ranking of the top console manufacturers, Nintendo is a clear winner, based on the amount of time and effort put down by thousands of employees working for one purpose only, and that is granting the believers with the gaming experience they cannot find anywhere else.

        • DEV

I definitely agree with the sentiment that Microsoft and Sony have been ‘playing it safe’, especially since they both fell on their faces in regards to attempting to ape the Wii’s motion controls. Nintendo has the stones to innovate where the other companies dare not tread. So far it seems they would have us gripping thumbsticks for the next 50 years. That being said, when you get down to it, within the core gamer realm Sony and Microsoft are still the ‘winners’. Like it or not. The Wii seems to always conjure images of grannies virtual-bowling with their grandkids, and yoga wannabes standing on a balance board, despite all the good First party CLASSICS that have been released on the system, Yes, classics.

  • God

Oh I did like the confidence from Nintendo saying probably I was having high hopes we be the dominating console for all aspects from now on.

    • ceramicsaturn

      Oh God….

  • Mida

Quite a bold statement. Not bad

    • eli

      quite its true though

    • KENNY

of course we can fend off sega and dream cast”cough cough” i mena playstation and xbox.

nintedo will last forever………..”FEAR THE FEARLESS” NINTENDO

      • RR

LOL… Sega was a console company and dream cast was one of their system… Now, come to think of it, SEGA was the biggest competitor of NINTENDO, not SONY nor MICROSOFT. They are just newbies in the industry.

    • Lush05

      Quite a ‘robust’ statement

  • ck1x

I think if Nintendo runs the gamut with updating their most popular franchises in HD along with some new IP sprinkled in here and there. This console will have a very long life for sure!

    • Derp

It’s a good thing they are being nice to Independent developers.

  • NightºƒCore (now a huge fan of SAO! Like seen on TV!))

Gah reggie, “fend off”??! Not enough!!!!!!11

    • NightºƒCore (now a huge fan of SAO! Like seen on TV!)

I mean, like, I always expected them to “Fend Off” Sony and Xbox. I was hoping he’d say something, more dramatic?

    • Nintenlord

Nintendo have them craping all over wht the wii imagine how they must be now

    • Hater Of Zer0

SAO = Sword Art Online? o_O

      • Night°₣Core

Yep. I loved the first Arc, now the second one is going to be in a different game

    • Yodin

LOL you got alot of negatives then ups hehe…

    • NightºƒCore

How in the -.- … 90 thumbs down? What exactly did i say wrong? I never bashed anything? I was just shocked at the lack of positiveness. “Probably Fend Off”.

    i hope nintendo wins

    • just nin10do

yes of course nintendo wins .because wii U has innovative best exculive games family games from 3 years to 95 years.hardcore+casual very nice controller nintendo supports.awesome graphics.wii U will sell more than wii .
later we will see everywhere with this name (best selling game console)
i say this sentence everywhere :JUST NiNTENDO

    • Guhtere

The competition will be tough. This generation is going to be an interesting one.

      They Will

      • person

        U, mean “They WiiUll

        • Kyron

Ok dude, now you’re abusing it

          • THAT GAMING GUY

            I like it

  • RSBzero

Like I’ve said before, the console can do it all, it’s up to the game developers to show how powerful a game for the Wii U can be, not one developer has even attempted to bring out the U’s full potential, yet

    • DarthSmithious

Zombiu has done a pretty good job, I think. Nothing else though has really adopted the whole package yet, but the future is full of possibility!

    • ceramicsaturn

Speaking of which, that just makes me really miss Factor 5 even more. Man, did they make Nintendo hardware sing….

      • Nintenlord

But sony killed them whit that lame dragon game

        • Jon

If you’re referring to Spyro, you’re insane. Spyro is easily one of the best and most iconic franchises in this industry. Spyro on the PSX was better than almost anything Nintendo offered on the N64 (with OoT, Mario64, and a select others being better).

Crash and Spyro are incredibly significant. If you’re a Nintendo fan you should be love them not just because they were great games but because really for the first time in Nintendo’s history they had competition from a franchise not named “Sonic”. It pushed them to create new franchise that would carry them through the rest of the console’s cycle.

          • ck1x

No he is talking about “Lair” for the PS3 which pretty much put Factor 5 in the grave!

          • Nintenlord

Lol you need gaming history leasons but i give you a C+

  • 7upland

    graphics don’t matter

    • eli

      not much no
especially when it comes to nintendo all the ps3 is is graphics

      • BloopbopBeepbop

how many ps3 games have you actually played?

    • tronic307

      …until Nintendo decides graphics matter

    • NintendoGamer

Yes, they do. You want Nintendo to be last place in terms of third party support for the 4th gen in a row?

      • Kyron

That makes me think, not to go off-topic, but is it possible somehow that developers can be a bunch of graphic whores as well?

        • revolution5268

          mostly the western ones.

        • NintendoGamer

They are doing it because the hardcore gamers want it. Since the hardcore gamers are easiest to trick of course they would make a FPS or TPS with great graphics since hardcore gamers are gonna buy it like it’s gold.

          • Nintenlord

            So thats a yes

      • Cugno the Swiss

N64 was more powerful than PS1, Gamecube was more powerful than PS2, it’s not about graphics.

        • NintendoGamer

A lot of N64 games looked very blurry mostly because the N64 didn’t use CDs. And GC while it was very powerful machine, it used mini CDs which had like 1.5GB storage. Games like RE4 came with 2 discs.

      • Kav

For the last 3 gens third party was like “I want storage capacity, i need it!” (I dont know about older generations)

      • NintendoGamer745

For the 4th generation in a row? Nintendo sold well with N64, because in the N64 days, graphics and side applications on a console didn’t matter. It started with the GameCube because it couldn’t find it’s place in the market and had slightly smaller support for 3rd party titles, so your statement is incorrect.

    • NoPUNintendo

So many dislikes and so many likes. This is a really mixed comment. He is right, but at the same time wrong. Graphics don’t matter, it’s true, it’s about games and gameplay. But at the same time, graphics do matter. They push the limits of games. If we didn’t attempt to make better graphics. We wouldn’t have stronger systems. We couldn’t put more than 100 people on the screen at the same time. We wouldn’t even have the Wii U! So, his comment is true and false. But it does tend to fall within your own preferences.

    • Derp

I would like to creep around dark areas with a flashlight hoping to not get eaten by zombies. Graphics do matter, because you can do different things with graphics.

On the Wii, only a couple games actually attempted to use dynamic lighting as part of the game (Conduit 2; dark subway area), and even then, enemies were shadeless to cut back on the little amount of proccessing resources that the Wii had.

The Wii U is a different story. After seeing the tech demo (the version on the E3 floor, not the cut-back version shown on the big screen) I can conclude that it really has some graphical features I have yet to see on Xbox 360 or PS3 such as Color Bleeding and Subsurface Scattering.

  • verymetal

All that matters is great games and if they have them then Wii U will be able to fend off any competitor.

    • metriod fan

It’s actually a balance combination of both for there to be a good game it needs great gameplay and strong graphic 2 back it

  • Ninjafish

Obviously it will be able to fend them off 😛

  • Dan

    My body is ready!!

  • Nintedward

This is genuinely excellent news . I trust Reggie as an Analyst more than I trust Patcher , lol .

But Frozen byte have just confirmed that a DOWNLOADABLE wiiu launch title is too graphically intensive and require’s ”more processing power” thna the ps3 and 360 can handle . So The wiiu is going to bring some stunning graphics to the table once developers get to grips with it .

Think of the difference between the wiiu and ps4/720 graphically as the difference between the ps2 and xbox1 .

The wiiu is the ps2 , and the 720 and ps4 will be xbox1 . Hardly a difference in graphics at all . And the ps2 had the best games and some mighty awesome graphics for its time anyway .

Any gap in graphics bigger than that means that those consoles will be far too expensive and None profitable . Doesn’t sound to Viable or realistic to me , that’s why Reggie can say with confidence ” naaaaah , the ps4 and 720 won’t even be much better and we can fend them off” 🙂

    • WiiLikeU

Don’t you got anything better to do?

      • Nintedward

Until wiiu comes out , nope XD . It’s 2012 man , I’m always on my PC at least 4 times a day lol . Facebook + youtube + 2 Nintendo websites , you would be suprised how little time that takes up .

Wait a minute !!! why am I explaining this to you ???

    • dubYA

I’m hoping the graphical difference is like you say it will be. I think in the very worst case we’ll be looking at the Wii U being like the Dreamcast of this upcoming gen (strictly speaking about graphics here), while the PS4 and Xbox 3 will be more like the Gamecube or Xbox 1. Still not a bad scenario at all.

      • Nintedward

        Agreed 😀 . Absolut worst case scenario . Otherwise ps4 and 720 will cost $6-700 .

    • srpg2ishere

I totally agree because there’s not gonna really be a huge gap in the difference between microsoft and sony’s new hardware because they always come out with these expensive high priced consoles thinking someone can afford it. If they make a new console that has too many things it could cost like over 400 dollars. and 400 dollars is a lot of money. i know that the wii u deluxe is like 349 and to be honest with you i dont really see anything bad with that. It comes with a game too and more memory. So I’m guessing that’s where the extra 50 comes from. I can’t wait for november! too bad i didnt get too preorder mine’s at gamestop. I check Nintendo website everyday so I can be the first one to snatch up that preorder. And if they have any by any chance I’ll be sure to tell you guys!

    • NintendoGamer

Well, the difference between the PS2 and Xbox was kinda impressive.. The XBox versions looked way better and games like Doom 3 couldn’t run on PS2.

      • NintendoGamer

Games like Half-Life 2, Theif 3, Elder Scrolls 3, Counter-Strike, etc… Tons of PC games ported to Xbox that couldn’t run on PS2 without some kind of big sacrificing on the graphics.

        • Nintedward

It was still hardly any difference at all ……

          • NintendoGamer

I am not trying to say games like Half-Life 2 would look like trash on PS2, but they would look inferior. The textures would look worse, etc.. The only PS2 games that really showed what the PS2 could do were games made only for the PS2 like God of War 2, Okami, FF12, etc..

    • Shane

I wouldn’t say that much better. I would say more like Dreamcast vs. GCN or Xbox(original). PS2 was weak compared to the other consoles, and even Dreamcast had a multiplatform game with PS2 before it was left to “die”. I can’t remember what it was called, but I remember reading that it had better graphics and overall performance compared to the PS2 version… It was a dragon game or something… I just think comparing the Wii U to PS4/XBox 1080, as PS2 to Xbox(original) or even GameCube is being a blind fanboy, at least what I expect expect form Sony and Microsoft. They pulled out the BIG GUNS last gen, and I expect nothing less of at least 3X as powerfula s the current XBox 360 and PS3. I just think Sony and Microsoft jumped the gun last gen, and having fat consoles that were 4-5 times bigger than the Wii, or course they wouldn’t be able to keep up in a metaphorical race. They were out of shape, and they finally slimmed down. Those fat animals! Who knows, maybe they’ll cut costs and not try to reach full power like last gen, which didn’t even start happening ’til Killzone 2 and Gears of War in my opinion. Alos Bioshock, which pissed off Microsoft children when it went to PS3 with better performance. Wii U is above par with Xbox 360 and PS3 now, without those consoles even MAXED out yet. I do wonder if Epic will release the Unreal Engine 4 early, becuase the Wii U will be able to at least support more of it thatn what’s out now, besides PCs which support anything as long as you have the money.

I think Nintendo will do fine with what they are doing. I loved GCN, and the only reason why it “failed”(I THINK, and honestly don’t think it did), is because PS2 came out before and gained it’s already strong fanbase from the PS with no competitors besides Dreamcast with is like comparing GB to GBC, and XBox was the “POWER” console that had online which people had already known exsisted because of PC’s and loving Bill Gates aqcuantance’s idea(I don’t even think Bill Gates came up with XBox, but only approved the idea). I didn’t even know you could play games online ’til Xbox live, and actually liked the idea when Nintendo did it with DS.

    • ceramicsaturn

Agreed. Nintendo has mentioned a couple times now that the Wii was simply far too underpowered. And as Sony showed, as long as your in the ball park, power wise, even if it’s on the lower end, you can still make it a hugely popular system.

Nintendo concentrated more on graphic fidelity with the GC.. and look how well that did for them.

    • Kyron

      Well said dude

  • Elite

Its definitely a mix of things. But at the core its about quality of product. So far all I see is quality of the Wii U which is good.

  • Maverick-Hunter

I gave 360 a shot and I gave ps3 a shot; my ps3 burst into flames after 3-4 days of playing skyrim (dawngaurd) which is why ps4 is totally out of the question for me and while I liked the online of my 360 the games lacked that wow factor that I got from games like mario galaxy, super smash brothers brawl, and skyward sword. See my biggest problem with the 360 was that 75% of the games where either first person shooters or third person shooters every time a “new game” was released it was just another Point and Shoot game that got extremely annoying espeically because, if it wasn’t a point n shoot game, it was a clone of some other franchise. My point of this rant is that i’m sticking true to nintendo despite what the ps4 and 720 have to offer.

    • bob

Just so you know, it’s impossible that your PS3 burst into flamed while playing Dawnguard because Dawnguard is not out on PS3.

Every system has decent games. I had an xbox 360 before it died, and I really enjoyed it (but I do admit there are a lot of first person shooters). I currently have a PS3 and I adore the exclusives and first party games on it. I use my Wii to play classic games and I really enjoy Nintendo’s IPs. Hell, I still have my phat DS that I play on occasion.

But just because you had a bad experience with one console doesn’t mean the successor will be any worse. Take a look at the Virtual Boy. The next Nintendo handheld certainly fared much better than that.

That being said, I’m all ready for November 18 to stroll along. I’m eager to see the direction that Nintendo is going with, and how their audience seems to be shifting but staying the same. Only time will tell.

      • MinowaEli

“it’s impossible that your PS3 burst into flamed while playing Dawnguard because Dawnguard is not out on PS3.”

        • Benjaminkno

        • Nintedward

HAHHAHAHAA XD!!!!!!!! XPOSED , XPOSED hahahaha 🙂

haha my bad it’s just that’s all I really like to play on my 360 got a little mixed up ^^” but, hey you guys are right I do like infamous that’s an exclusive I really like for ps3 although he is extremely over powered XDD

I guess all I was trying to say from my post was that nintendo won me over. Nintendos wii was always fun whether it was pushing my buddies while we played mario kart (causing some sort of chaos) or playing this block game where we had to literally be steady while pulling out the block from the stack.

I would definatly like the 360 more if it didn’t 1 focus on kniect and 2 if its multiplayer wasn’t always halo matches where I shoot my friends

p.s. my ps3 still burst into flames playing skyrim I wouldn’t say something like this if it didn’t happen ^^”

    • Kahhhhyle

      Minecraft? lol

    • NintendoGamer

Dawnguard it’s not on the PS3. It’s great to love Nintendo, but don’t be such a fanboy.

  • Jbaeza94

    Robust !!!

  • Troll patrol.

Nintendo have always embraced graphics , lol . The SNES had better graphics than the Genesis , the N64 was about twice as powerfull as ps1 the gamecube was quite a bit more powerfull than ps2 (apart from those god damn tiny 1.5GB discs) . Bottom line – when Nintendo used to focus too much on graphics , it didn’t work for them too well . So they have to find a compromise between great graphics and affordable price . Just because the wii was less powerfull in one generation doesn’t mean Nintendo doesn’t care aout graphics .

The wiiu looks set to do exactly this .

  • SleepingSheperd

I got to say the Wii U has a lot on it’s plate to appeal to the hardcore gamer. I love Nintendo and all their systems and franchises. I’ll be buying a Wii U with zombiU and Assasins creed 3. I know what their games are all about but I fear that people who buy an Xbox and ps3 just don’t appreciate video games like Zelda or Metroid the way most nintendo fans do.

Anyway Microsoft and Sony have their own battle again to deal with and I’m sure they’re wiped from the last gen. To see them continuously fight again over the next few years over exclusive games does not seem logical. Could they potentially team up against Nintendo?

  • Volcano

Nice. i wanna see galaxy 3 in hd gonna be ace
if they put galaxy three soon thE wii u will have LIFE

    • srpg2ishere

What’s “galaxy 3?” Ooohhhhh ya mean super mario? well yea that’d be great! plus the new gamepad features make it even better. Hm i wonder if nintendo is gonna let us play with the pro controller on the next mario game(excluding super mario bros u of course cuz thats already made)

  • i stand alone looking at the dumb shaking my head

wii fended of ps3 and x360 so thats commonsense this time theres nothing in it power wise again commonsense and sony has no power in the industry now and looks on as nintendo licks the cream and winks

true gpgpu lots of edram super efficient GX2 dual screen gaming wm+ wii back play i dont see how sony can even imagine a fight back

no cash and no ideas move flopped psvita flopped they have nothing to offer COMMONSENSE again

nintendos 1st / 2nd party support and there lead in dual screen and motion gaming PLEASE dont insult me sony fans that company is a zombi its walking around thinking its still alive when in fact its dead and forgotten

i love the whole FANBOY crap here wiiu is next gen its almost here sony are a irelivent out dated joke and need to die

dualshock please its 18 years old dont insult this life long core gamer iv gamed from 1980 i know whats what

and fony are yesterday end of argument

    • MujuraNoKamen

You’re so right, I’ve said before Sony aren’t going to be able to fight back against Wii U, at least not with an ultra-powerful console (like what happened with Wii and PS3) they made massive losses on PS3 and, as you said, all their recent hardware is flopping, if they want to stay in the market they going to have to create a cheaper not so powerful to get the sales figures (given they’re lack of originality I’d say they’re going to try and replicate Wii – seems logical)
It’s not that I don’t like Sony, I do, it’s just that recently they’ve lost their originality, all they do is insult the competition. I see loads of Sony fan-boys attacking everyone else saying total BS like “Nintendrone is 4 babies Sony is 4 de hardcore gamerz, CoD FTW” And I just think, OK then waht are Sony’s best franchises, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro all the good stuff from the PS1 era, are those mature games? no and all the good stuff has been neglected by them in recent years to make for FPS re-hashes (many of which aren’t even exclusive) Sony still have a load of good IPs but there’s now a lot opinion going round from even their fans saying how much newer games like Uncharted are being milked.
I do feel sorry for Sony though, even though they’re now my least favourite of the big 3, they need to stop the insults on everyone else and get back their originality.

  • FishFan03

I own a PS3 and a Wii and still own every Nintendo home console. I have always felt that I needed to have the latest Nintendo console and either a Sony console or Microsoft console. That might change with the next-gen and it looks like I will be sticking with the Wii U only. I would seriously play my Wii alot more if it were HD. So I am really looking forward to the Wii U and being able to play all the great Nintendo franchises and the great third party titles which I know Nintendo will no doubt take advantage of this time around.

  • Jon

The Wii U still needs more 3rd party support to succeed.

The “core” gamers they’re targeting are the ones who don’t play on Nintendo anymore. The gamers they lost with the Wii U.

Nintendo needs Bethesda, Valve, Rockstar, and other HUGE names on bored. They need a fully committed EA, not the EA who claims to support the console and yet place an inferior version of Madden (no physics) and FIFA with cut corners.

Ubisoft was a great partnership on Nintendos part. ZombiU, AC3, and Rayman will definitely bring in some of the “core”. Bayonetta 2 is without a doubt a monumental exclusive. BUT

If another generation goes by without GTA, Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock, Portal, Half Life, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, fully developed Madden and EA sports titles, and then have none of these games (and many others) get a Nintedo release, Nintendo will not regain the “core” they’re trying so hard to target.

    • Benjaminkno

I agree they need to break away from their curse of third party support. Rumor is RE6 will be released at some point in the future. And Nintendo is doing their best to get GTA. I’ve been saying that if third party support is not robust when the PS4/720 come out, Nintendo will yet again miss out.

  • Josh

The upcoming systems from Sony and Microsoft aren’t going to be that much powerful if at all. People really think that the Wii scenario will repeat itself. Well, no, the PS4, if the rumors are correct, isn’t even going to be that much powerful than the Wii U and the 720 will focus on the kinect 2 but I guess time will tell what these two are up to.

  • Gamer

Capcom : Monster hunter 3 ultimate( years of playability ), halo (months playability), sony cse ( god of war one month playability).

In other words a 10yr life cycle. If they are thinking like that then there, has to be a lot of surprises they are not telling us. So glad I pre ordered it

  • Ledreppe

“Once you talk about what that is, we can probably fend it off”

LOL, Reggie says some strange things.

  • DreDaGreat

Jus to put my 2 cents in, I think that the WiiU will be a force to be reckon with, even with the ps4 and xbox 720 around the corner. One thing that real grinds my gears though are the ppl who say graphics don’t matter. YES THEY DO. There’s a reason why ppl buy HD TV’s, there’s reasons why Nintendo made an hd console. I get why ppl prefer gameplay over graphics but come on ppl if the graphics can compliment the gameplay and vise versa why not have the best of both worlds.

  • Matt

I think the Wii U is in the perfect position to not only be #1 for gamers but #1 for developers for a long time simply because it’s going to have such a huge jump on the next gen consoles. I mean earliest we will see xbox 720 or PS4 is 2014 and now many are saying 2015. The Wii U is going to be profitable for nintendo from the start and everyone will want the 3rd party version of a game on the Wii U not only because it will be the top console from a technological standpoint but the gamepad and controller options will bring something extra to the table for most 3rd party games. By the time the 720 and PS4 hit I’m thinking nintendo will have no problem selling well right alongside those consoles because I’d expect it to be a bit cheaper by that point and have a huge library of games and probably be on par with them graphically. Think back on the jump the PS2 had on the xbox and gamecube and I think that will be a good representation of how the Wii U might perform.

    • srpg2ishere

by the time 2015 comes nintendo will probably be working on their next console… or it’d maybe already be made! 😀

  • Smokey cheese

Can’t really comment about the next gen from Sony or Microsoft as they haven’t released any information as yet and maybe they will be more powerful or not much more powerful than the Wii U it doesn’t really matter as long as NIntendo and third part pump out some great titles over the next twelve months and establishes itself as a Gamers console with some excellent exclusive titles that fully utilises the game pad and hard ware.
This is the first time I have ever booked time off work on a consoles launch.

    • srpg2ishere

there probably isnt gonna be one

  • erick

I really dont know about you guys but im freaking dying for the console since it was announced .i never bought a ps3 or xbox neither a gaming pc because of my loyalty to the big N, i would just play those with friends and i sure gotta say that i fell in love with the graphics, and now that nintendo will strike me with hd capable of outsanding the current gen (and even the next one), and the fun that nintendo games are well known for IM MORE THAN SOLD.

  • Alienfish

I think it will be a lot like Playstation graphics compared to N64 graphics, except this time Nintendo will be behind. And of course, graphics are nice, but a system’s GPU and CPU abilities don’t necessarily make or break a console. It always comes down to the software presented. Really though, it’s about F(^%$*&^ time Nintendo gave us an HD console.

  • Robert

Wii U will be the only console I get next gen.

  • makaresh

they would like to fend off next gen consoles? then maybe they shoul focus the hardware to next gen, next time ….

i preordered this wii u thing just because i want to play a mario game after ten years of not having played one. but how can they even think about standing over better hardware? core gamers (me included) will buy the best hardware out there and this will be from sony and m$.

    • Fat Albert

      Hey Hey Hey!

Just dropping by to let you know the only TRUE Mario title might take 2-3 years to release. But you can always check out Galaxy 1&2.

    • Damiao

You say core gamers (you included) will buy the best hardware aka MS or Sony. Yet you pre ordered ‘this wiiU thing’ after 10 years of not playing a Mario game!?

HA, what a load of sh*t…

      • Damiao

If all core gamers are like you and go out and pre order a wiiU, then Nintendo shouldn’t have a problem.. Should they.

& Let me guess, you got the delux package..

Why not admit the wiiU is an interesting console and Nintendo has done well. You are investing a pretty penny in it after all.

  • Nintenjoe64

Nintendo might be telling the truth about their specs this time, because the wii would be pulling the cheeks of sony and MS apart and sticking a wiimote right in between them if they had put HD in the Wii from the start.

Chances are that Sony and MS will make a loss to get the most powerful machine they can but I just can’t see many people being wowed by extra resolution or shaders when so few people have displays above 1080p. I think part of the problem for Sony and MS is that it will be cheaper for a publisher to make a multi format game that makes full use of the weakest console and is easily ported to the more powerful ones than it would be to make a game that maxes out the most powerful machine and has to be scaled down for other ports.

Humm,i have read this before 🙂

        u have indeed sir

  • grandlx2

Reggie is a born liar. I’m sure the Wii U will do fine, but I doubt it’ll compete visually vs the ps4/720. Remember that these guys will tell you anything to sell you their products. But to give em credit, the Wii U seems like it’ll have more third party support than it’s last three previous counterparts (n64/gc/wii).

    • totesawks

I 100% agree with you. I’m a huge nintendo fan but this guy just comes across so dishonest

  • maxlazy10

You know what I love? Is that people seemingly believe that the next Xbox and PS will be super powerful. What proof do they have?

  • Kahhhhyle

Its really does matter how powerful the system is if Nintendo doesn’t get the 3rd parties this time they’ll be in trouble. And the Devs don’t want to dumb down their games just so it can run on other consoles if their games can be cheaply and quickly ported from other consoles we will be just fine and so will nintendos future sales

    • Shane

True, but I think they will be porting Wii U games to the new systems this time, at least for a while until they learn enough from the Wii U’s more powerful tech to convert over. Even so, mybe the developers won’t even want to go to the nest systems if they don’t have something that can grab peoples attention like Nintendo did with the game pad that can play the whole game on or use your Wii remote with it, Miiverse, TVii, HD graphics with their flagship titles which is what people were pissed about in the first place(from my experience), Wii backward support, and the eShop which is the best organized/clean shop compared to PS S and XB Live MP, even on the 3DS. I bet that in 2015-16, Nintendo will already have a new system ready to release(along a respective handheld I would hope), and who knows how crazy that will be. My brother told me that his teacher(he goes to college) said that there will probably be a direct link between computers and the consumer sooner than later which I don’t see as being very unrealistic considering how much has advanced…

      • Kahhhhyle

Your right. That extra year on the market might mean games get ported from wii u to the other platforms

  • mc7791

@RSBzero it will take time for the developers to get the most out of the system. It took several years for developers to get the most out of the PS3 and 360. There is always a learning curve when working with a nee system and its development kit. So graphically the WII U games will keep looking better and better over time. It is very interesting that Reggie says that the Wii U will hold up very well against the competition. Last I knew Nintendo used to say that they were not in direct competition with Sony and MS. Looks like that has changed. Only thing I need now is an HDTV to enjoy what the WII u can do now and what it will be capable of in the future. Next thing I want to hear about is a Starfox game.

Soon, instead of us using wiiUDaily religeously for the latest wiiU updates, looking at pictures, reading comments, or checking the never ending countdown on Nintendo.com from our PC/smartphones/etc. Soon and instead, we will all be glued infront of our hdtv’s with our VERY OWN wiiU’s. We’ll go on wiiUDaily ranting and raving about how amazing the wiiU is from the Nintendo Network, then once we swap Friendcodes we will rant and rave some more on Miiverse! We will get handcramps from holding onto the gamepad/wiimotes/procontrollers for hours on end. We will be in Nintendo Paradise! This year is going to feel like having TWO Christmas Mornings! Cheers to that!

  • srpg2ishere

Are you kidding? Of course the Wii U is gonna “fend” off Xbox 720 and PS4! The Wii U has enough graphical power and memory to get ANY Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 game. I mean seriously.. What are THEY gonna bring out?? The Wii U already has native 1080p so they can’t say “Hey come and look at our new and improved graphics!” And plus playstation is just gonna come out with that same stupid controller just improved and microsoft is probably gonna make some new motion bullcrap or a different controller (because they already used that smartglass junk lol) And also Nintendo is the KING of exclusives and the wii already has TONS of accessories! The third party supports gonna be rollin in pretty soon i mean just look at the things wii u already has! LOL “Fend Off” You gotta be joking. Nintendo will OBLITERATE microsoft and Sony

  • Dustin

To be constructive; what I think Nintendo needs to do to compete with the next Xbox is offer a base model of the WiiU for $199 without the tablet (packaged with the traditional “pro” controller).

By pricing the console at under $200 the second Christmas; they can accelerate their user base faster than Microsoft (who will likely build something to last seven years again), and be ready with a new console launch the spring of the fifth year in Japan and Christmas in America (avoiding any dead period between consoles).

    • Kahhhhyle

Your idea kinda makes sense but the whole promise of the wii u is the tablet controller. And you can’t buy them so you’d be kinda screwed if you didn’t that lol

      • Dustin

The tablet would have to be made available seperately if they released a package without it. The thing about the WiiU with the greatest promise is its ability to be priced where people can purchase it and the third Microsoft console, but that potential only exists if Nintendo releases a base package with nothing more than the traditional controller (as Microsoft is expected to launch with).

        • Kahhhhyle

But we come back to the fact that the tablet is the point of buying one. Without the tablet you might as well buy an xbox/ps3. It’s like having a wii but no wii mote ya know

    • GameChanger

The gamepad is the standard controller for Wii U and some games require the gamepad and can’t be played without it.

  • Hater Of Zer0

Clarification: Nintendo never said graphics didn’t matter to begin with, they said graphics should never take the importance away from gameplay. The “graphics don’t matter” statements came from Ninten-fans arguing cases with Ninten-haters, in the attempt to get either party to shut up. :/

  • D2K

There has never been a Nintendo system that did NOT have great graphics. I think people are seeing what the what to see. Fils-Aime is not saying that having good graphics is important in terms of having the most powerful machine that can be built in captivity just to appease the graphics whores. He is saying that you console should have great graphics.

People look at the Wii and compare it to the PS3 and 360 and say it has “bad graphics.” That makes as much since as comparing the NES to the NEO-GEO and saying ti has “bad graphics.”

The thing is that this isn’t about what Nintendo has or hasn’t done with the Wii U. It’s got a more advance CPU whatever it winds up being, it’s got a GPGPU more advanced than what is in current machines, and its got 4X the totally memory of the current gen with half going to the OS and half going to the games.

As I stated before, a lot of the so-called “next-gen” gaming footage shown over the past few months all can run on the PS3 and 360. So if that is the limit of what the current-gen consoles can do, obviously the Wii U can do much more than that.

Nintendo has the most 3rd-party support it has had since the NES/SNES days and the largest launch line up of any console within the last 10 years (23.) Out of those 23 games only 2 are 1st-party Nintendo titles, yet people still keep saying, “they better have more 3rd party support.” :/

Nintendo has added mature-rated AAA IPs to their launch line-up and beyond (including an exclusive mature-rated AAA IP in Bayonetta 2 which would not even EXIST if not for Nintendo,) yet people keep saying, “Nintendo doesn’t have any mature games. It’s all kiddie stuff.”

Nintendo has added full native 1080pHD and 60fps to most of their launch titles, yet people keep saying, “Yeah…well I bet it is just upscaled and not native 1080p”.

Of course we know that Sony and Microsoft would NEVER do such a terrible thing as to upscale the resolution of a game now would they? 🙂

Reggie didn’t say anything in the interview Nintendo hasn’t already said numerous times over the years. The interviewer threw a loaded question at Fils-Aime and he took the bait instead of saying the Wii U does not need to “fend-off” anything. It’s like going up to someone on the street and saying, “Have you stopped beating your wife yet?” Well, you are assuming that they have a wife, and you are assuming they beat her.

No one knows what the PS4 and 720 will ‘ACTUALLY’ bring to the table. All we have are rumors from fanboys and the infamous “anonymous sources.” Why not wait until we get a look at the PS4 and 720, see what they bring to the table, and THEN decide if the Wii U needs to “fend” them off?

  • Nintendo Power (Star Mission)

Reggie sure love to use the word Robust

  • Joswag (3ds fc: 0216-1072-9703)

Wow wow wait a sec. I love Nintendo but I will buy the ps4 ( and the wii u of course:). )

  • MujuraNoKamen

Sounds about right, like Reggie said about the PS4 & 720 “Once you talk about what that is, we can probably fend it off” We’ll have to see what exactly the 2 consoles offer, but for a number of reasons I think Wii U will be able to keep up. Firstly it’s been proven to be quite powerful, exactly how powerful is unconfirmed so, as with all console, we’ll have to wait for developers to get the best of Wii U’s potential. We know it can run a slightly modified Unreal 4 engine which is said to be the benchmark for next-gen games so Wii U won’t be woefully underpowered like Wii and will most likely get the multi-plats like CoD (we’re already getting BO2 so that’s a good sign)
And in regards to the competitors, well, it cost them a lot produce the power-houses of the current gen and given Sony’s current financial state, they simply can’t afford to repeat what happened with the PS3 (See what’s happening to Vita) So it’s only logical that they’ll make a cheaper, not quite so powerful console, to get the money back (it worked with Wii) in fact making a more casual aimed console seems logical given the lack of originality held by the competition so it makes perfect sense for them to try and replicate that – in fact a lot of rumours going round say that’s what they are doing.

  • Purple3DSXL

I can already see that the Wii U will be one of my top favorite consoles in the future. Hopefully, Nintendo’s Wii U sales at launch will be higher than anyone expects (even in this economy), and I can continue to enjoy the games I love :). Appealing to both the core and casual crowds is a great strategy that’ll help sales greatly.

  • Grodus

Although I agree, I want to point out that this IS coming from Nintendo. What’re they supposed to say? “We think our console is going to bomb and sell terribly. Don’t buy it, it sucks.” Although, his longevity comment does matter, as it shows Nintendo knows graphics matter.

  • Ljink

I’m not a bias guy. Sony and Microsoft have released fantastic systems and so has Nintendo. However, in the decline of Videogame sales Nintendo should have the upper hand. Why? Well…

1.)Nintendo has been around since the 8bit era and so has Sega but they’ve slumped in recent years. Basically they’re the grandfather of videogames. If anybody knows the gamer market it’s Nintendo. They’ve failed and succeeded more than Playstation, Segas, and Xboxes.

2.)Cost, everybody is complaining about the $300 price tag. Only $50 more than the original Wii launched at but for that extra Ulysses S. Grant you get a fully functional Gamepad/Tv/VirtualConsole/VideoChat/New way to play/asemetric gameplay, and HD support. What a deal! Now, do you recall Sony’s PS3 launch price? A whopping $600! Now imagine what the PS4 will cost if they’re already claiming to squash the Wii U in raw power. $700? $800 maybe? We’ll have to see. $300 bucks is more than fair if you ask me and I’m middle class. You’ll be glad you payed $300 when you’ll be paying $600 for the PS4. Remember, I love PS and XBOX I just tell the facts.

3.)Originality sets your self in a place that your competitors cannot even dream of touching. Wii to PsMove and Kinect? The Gamepad will do so much that it really isn’t funny. You can look that up but In order for 720 or PS4 to compete with Wii U they will eventually come up with an XBOX PAD or PS PAD. Or create a system that allows time travel. Yeah… -,-

4.)Graphics do play a role in games. How big the role is depends on the game’s reputation. While the PS4 and 720 will beat the Wii U in raw power it isn’t the power that awes the real gamers. It’s the game! Who would have thought? Wii U’ graphics will be good enough to last me the next 10-15 years. Did you see that DEMO of that Zelda game? And they were just playing with it!!! Lord Almighty!

Nintendo has hit their sweet spot. Satisfying eye candy heads and game players. With key franchises such as Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Metroid, Star Fox, Mario Kart, Pikmin, Pokemon, and Dragon Quest it’ll be pretty hard to fend off Nintendo anytime soon. They’re the richest VG company, they’ve gotta be doin’ something right ya think? Hey, that’s just me.

    • D2K

Personally, I’m gonna start calling the Wii U the UNES. Ultra Nintendo Entertainment System. The console already has an NES feel to it with all the 3rd-party support.

  • Castamere

I still don’t understand why every outlet is calling Microsoft’s next console the Xbox 720. Is it the 720th Xbox system? Is it capable of 720p? It it capable of a full rotation two times? Calling it the Xbox 3 makes more sense.

    • Ljink

That’s just a codename. Like the Wii U was “Project Cafe” or “Wii 2” and Gamecube’s “Nintendo Revolution”. That’s all.

      • Nintenlord

gamecube code name was dolphing revolution is the wii

    • Pikmaster

It’s because double of 360 is 720 and the 720 will be twice as good as the 360. (which still isn’t as good as nintendo)

    • Emmanuel J.

No it is called ” Xbox 720 ” because the current one is ” Xbox360 ” and 360+360 = 720 … the 360 by the way has been chosen by Microsoft because it was supposed to be like
” Xbox 360 is all you need like when you do a 360° turn and you have everything around you ” … which is incorrect in my point of view…
      Go Nintendo 😀

    • D2K

I’ve heard ‘Durango’ as the official code-name of Microsoft’s next-gen console. I’ve also heard ‘XBOX8’ thrown around. I think XBOX 720 is just the a comfortable name the gaming community uses until the official name is given by Microsoft.

Kinda like how everyone referred to the Wii U as the “Wii 2” or “Wii-HD” as others have mentioned and later on the Nintendo ‘Stream’ as another nickname.

    • NoPUNintendo

Because when you see it you do a 720 and walk away.

      • Nintenlord

If you do a 720 you still face the console

  • Madmagican

I have little doubt that the Wii U will take down the ps4 and xbox 720 simply due to the facts that the Wii U is coming out 2 years before its supposed competitors which gives it a huge headstart but also a possible handicap, its a Nintendo console and it’s getting quality 3rd party games, and lastly rumors have led me to believe that microsoft and sony’s next consoles have no backwards compatibility and there will be no used games either for some reason. I THINK WE GOT THE 9TH GENERATION’S BEST

    • sergiosms

      Wii U is eighth generation

    • Grodus

9th generation? I believe your’re thinking of the Wii W…

It’s punny! If you don’t get it, say it out loud.

  • ssb4FC 3007 8585 6950

Sorry phony nintendo winms dis time and ps4 will be 800 at launch. Ps3w as 600 at lauch and wii u isv stronger and cheaper. Ps4 wil prbs be powerful and expensive

    • ceramicsaturn

Dear lord, that was very hard to understand.

  • mdog

    • ceramicsaturn

      360-360= I sold my R2D2 360 for a Wii U.

      • Grodus

        Wait, what!?!? R2D2!?

  • Joeyperez

reggie fils me with anger and a lot of pfffft nothingness, he never has a direct answer…. never have liked him he lacks coolness and salesmanship. if the nintendo corp feels confident that it will keep up with ps4 and 720 they should state why ? it could be as simple as “graphics won’t take such a leap ahead that we will be left in the dust if at all” plus our unique gamepad will change the way we make games and hold inventory and motion as a must have in gaming.. thirdly the fact that we nintendo produce a whole line up of top games means our fans in the “millions” want to see link, mario, samus, donkey kong, star fox in graphics comparible to whats top of the line in console availability now and in the relative future.. Hey Id by a nintendo console to see link look as good as a crysis game or better wouldn’t you? !
and i would smile and say yes thank you i want one !

    • Joeyperez

hi joey .. i agree with you entirely and feel that you are a gentlemen and scholar.

  • The_Beeshnu

That’s what we all wanted to hear
Now we just need MIYAMOTO to trash talk Sony and Microsoft,

  • Fuzunga

Is it just me, or does Reggie sound like a politician most of the time?

“I’m going to say things without actually telling you anything.”

    • D2K

That is precisely what he is hired to do. He is the hype-man. Granted, being President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America he has a lot of tasks and responsibilities, but his job is to get people to by Nintendo products with as little information as possible.

He is one reason why Nintendo has been successful this gen.

I am still sad I was not able to pre order a Deluxe Wii U…I am just praying it is available the first day.

    • D2K

I’m in the same boat. It won’t kill me if I cannot purchase a Wii U on day one. I only wanted the deluxe because I’d rather have the black system. I played NintendoLand already and I wasn’t too crazy about it, and I’ll have an external HDD so the 8GB of flash won’t be an issue either.

  • ZombieGuns

I’m waiting for another game besides ZombiU to take advantage of the Wii U’s graphics hardware. The only other console exclusives are cartoony children’s games.

    • Ljink

So just because it doesn’t have guns and zombies then it’s a kiddie game? Hmmm… Earthbound had both and is still considered one of the greatest RPG’s ever. Just wait and you’ll get your “adult games”. The best selling VG franchise is a “children’s game”… oh, Mario Bros. Don’t hate, just telling the facts.

  • SteampunkJedi

From what I’ve seen, the graphics do seem to be great. Of course I don’t have a clue about the online robustness, but we’ll find out soon enough. In my opinion, and from what I’ve read, the only thing Nintendo might have to worry about is third party support, which I believe should be relatively simple to come by with the new controller.

  • poposino

does anyone know if wiiu is going to have live chat while playing? like xbox 360. i think it is very important to fully enjoy an online match or game

  • Nintyfan

After the idea of merging Forums and Wii U Daily, so many dislikes started spreading.

I want the old Wii U Daily members, they didnt dislike anything you said that was neutral.

  • sharks345

anyone knows if the wiiu will have chat like 360? live chat while playing

    • Major Beauner

Of course, man! It will have live video chat via the Gamepad screen and front facing camera.

  • rafael

If its going to last long, then its probably going to have two zeldas.

NEWS: Reggie confirms sequel to yet not revealed Zelda U!

  • kyuubikid213

I still believe in gameplay over graphics. While graphics do matter, the gameplay is what you’re actually playing the game through. It’s like watching the best movie of all time, Shawshank Redemption. You can watch it in VHS quality, Blu-ray quality, and DVD quality. While it looks great in Blu-ray, if the movie was awful to begin with, adding a new coat of paint won’t make it any better.

Besides, why wouldn’t the Wii U be able to hold it’s own against the PS4 and 720? Those systems will most likely be $400+ which makes the Wii U a great choice for limited budgets and the Wii U will have a headstart in a game library making it the better choice (temporarily) when the other systems come about. What good is a system that has no games?

  • Superik

Nintendo! WII U! Screw the rest, because WII U is the best!

  • Jetty

Fend them off like a leg-humping chihuahua.
