Nintendo has set up Wii U demo stations at the Nintendo World store in New York, where gamers can try out the new console. The guys from Nintendo World Report got to check out one of the demo stations, and ran through the menu interface on the GamePad touchscreen. As you can see in the video below, there are lots of game demos available, and the whole interface is very smooth and intuitive. It’s unknown whether this interface will be a part of the final retail console or whether it was designed for the demo stations only. If you’re in New York, stop by the Nintendo World store and try out the Wii U.

      • SideScreamer

Your a fucking idiot. As long as people demo it, they will be more likely to buy it. Therefore, more Wii U’s sold = Better games will follow.

        Anyway, you guys are lucky.
Hardly anywhere in Australia does console demos anymore.

        • TheMaddMan

Ugg im all the way across the coast in San Jose

        • kard

          I hear dat

          • Master Awesomeness

Can purely relate. Why does it go to bloody sydney? Sydney sucks balls, yet they all these expos and we people from melbourne don’t. We’re the same bloody size, so why, why?

There are 6 things we have that are awesome though down in melbourne.
            1-Formula 1
            2-Australian Open
            3-AFL Grand Final
            4-Melbourne Cup
            5-Motor Show
            6-Melbourne Show

Suck on that Sydney! Soon, EB Games will finally understand our awesomeness, and others shall follow.

  • YoGoUrT

Pretty neat, pretty neat, pretty good !

  • Lusunup

  • Jason Edokpa

Wow. This kind of looks like the USB Loader GX channel.

    • AKA-Link77

Lol i was just about to say that!

    • theaquacharger

Or just like the one they use in 3DS demo stations, eShop, and other various platforms. It’s an extremely common look.

    • Sethowar

That is exactly what I thought when I saw it. I love it though, so no complaints from me

      • JumpMan

yep, it reminds me exactly of the 3DS booth in BestBuy.

  • Ryu No Hadouken

I hope that’s for retail as well…looks fluid and user friendly

  • Yamiryuu Zero

YES! Finally we start to see the menus on the console. Even if it is a demo, It might mean Nintendo will soon give us a light regarding on how the interface actually is!

And, a bit off topic, but… am I the only one here who wants to play Wii games on the GamePad? My TV is tube, and the light effects are blur on it. I’d love playing my WIi games on a LCD screen, even if it’s small like that (I don’t have money to get a true LCD TV T^T).

    • retlaw

Hope you get an LCD. One day

  • Tobbe

    Inspire from Wiiflow interface maby

  • Nintedward

Manfred Linzner from Shin’en has offered a few thoughts about the power of Wii U.

While speaking with ntower, Linzer noted that “the Wii U is the strongest console with a lot of potential for the future.” He also spoke highly of the GPU.

    Linzer stated:

“Well, right now, the Wii U is the strongest console with a lot of potential for the future. You should not forget, that the Wii U GPU is from a different generation than the ones from the current competitors. Because of that, there are many new ways of approaching things. Which, on the one side, are easier to implement than special hybrid solutions that are currently used on the other consoles, and on the other hand, which brings with it a much better performance. In cooperation with the generous working storage you have unbelievable possibilities. You should not forget that you need developers who can actually max out the potential of a console. And with teams like Retro Studios and EAD, Nintendo has an unbeatable advantage.”

Shin’en’s first Wii U game is Nano Assault Neo. It should be out for the console’s launch.

I’m spreading this news around , its confirmation that the wiiu is a lot more powerfull (better graphics) than current gen .

the UI looks nice btw ^_^

    • smallNdeadly

I would like to know about the CPU as well

      • Jon

Namco said the CPU is a bit slow. Whether or not it will hinder next gen development is up in the air.

        • Nintedward

They didn’t say it was a bit slow . Harada said , when questioned about the wiiu cpu ”maybe a little bit slower than the ps3’s . How efficient it is , we don’t know . Overall the wiiu will anihalate the ps3 and 360’s graphics , framerates and resolutions . GPGPU + 2GB RAM >>>>>>>>ps3 and 360.

      • Nintedward

Not the most important component . But Tekken producer Harada ”said maybe a little bit less than the ps3’s” when talking about the CPU .

This probably means about 2.0-3.0 GHZ . But bare in mind the GPGPU can do some of the CPU’s work , so we will need to know what that thing is clocked at etc etc before we start judgeing it .

I think we can safely say now , the wiiu has a LOT better graphics than ps3 and 360 , unsurprisingly

        • Neonridr

again, just because something is clocked a little lower doesn’t mean it can’t do as much. As tech gets newer, the cpu chips can do more. I would take a third generation i7 over a first generation i7 even if the clock speed was a little lower. It’s not like they are using the same PowerPC chips that were in the 360.

  • just ninTendo

40 days later i get the in wii U gamepad in my hand and play all games. MY BODY IS READY FOR NEXT NINTENDO CONSOLE.WII U

  • 30yearsofnintendogaming

thank god i live in nyc… but in staten island not in Manhattan

  • Kahhhhyle

Doesn’t look final to me. It’ll be hard to top the wii’s interface though that was prolly the best home console dashboard in my opinion

    • smallNdeadly

Except for the music playing…to mellow

      • Kahhhhyle

Most dashboards don’t even play music lol. Besides what do you want them to play? Hardcore metal lol

  • just nin10do

40 days later i get the in wii U gamepad in my hand and play all games. MY BODY IS READY FOR NEXT NINTENDO CONSOLE.WII U+me=whoooooooooooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooo

  • TheUNation

I’m deeply impressed at the GamePad’s touch screen. With just one finger, you can slide and select Wii U game demos and full games on the fly. You can even watch video clips and read info on the titles, difficulty, etc.

The Wii U is gonna be a huge blockbuster come November 18th.

  • Kav

Am i the only one who doesnt want to see the interface and menus? when the wii u comes out i wont enter any videogame webpage until i get my wii u and be amazed by it myself.

    • Shane

I don’t think this is even the menu yet. This is just a kiosk where they have demos I think. I thought the title meant that this is what the demo menu was going to look like when in comes out, but like I said it’s just a kiosk(pre-release). THIS WILL NOT BE THE FINAL MENU PEOPLE, SO DON’T FREAK OUT. It’s amazing how people see something, and think it is what they see RIGHT NOW. It’s not neccessarily a bad thing, but I read it and the environment it was put in and instantly knew that it wouldn’t FINALLY look like this.

      • Kav

Yeah, i know its just a demo and i watch it, but i wont watch anything about the Wiiu AFTER the launch day. (I think my wiiu is gonna be with me 4 or 5 days after the release day)

  • Chris

I like the new layout, its more easier than XBL’s market place -_- I got lost in that thing like 10 times in one day.

I hope Nintendo keeps this look for the Wii U eShop =3

    • Kahhhhyle

Everything is easier then Xbox lives new market place interface haha. Even some of my hardcore Xbox friends agree the new dash is terrible

  • Master Awesomeness

looks nice, but i don’t think the final system software will look like this. i personally don’t want it to.

    • JumpMan

i would have to be angry if this is the actual design of anything on the Wii U. i like channels! KEEP ZEE CHANNELZZZ!

  • Marioravesto3d

Its three to four times more powerful then ps3 and 360.With the gamepad the online the fact there’s alot of third party developers and nintendo own games all the mario games not forgetting zelda of cause and backwards compatible.I just hope the likes of youtube is in hd more then likely see as thou its powerful machine. As I stated before am also ps3 user the wii u is on different level everyone will see for sure.

  • Maverick-Hunter

Wow this looks so smooth I’m super impressed by the wii u and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. In my opinion this is by far the most awesome gaming system to date.

  • Trev

    Not super impressed

    • Neonridr

wait, you’re not super impressed with a screen that shows a catalog of games that you pick from to play or learn more information? It’s not like this is what you are going to see when you boot up your Wii U.

  • SteampunkJedi

Darn! I was just in that store 4 months ago! Oh well, a few months’ wait is bearable.

    • Chris

I was there like 2 months ago! I know exactly how you feel:/

  • WiiUnov18

Awesome wait till you guys get to play it…i did @E3 and i was awesome

  • Johny

geeze guys… yea.. it looks cool..
but i could say im certain that that wont be the interface of wii u ..

  • Eric wii u

  • conradlink

so what are the dimensions of the gamepad?

    • Neonridr

not HD, but it will still look very nice at that size.

    • Neonridr

sorry, that was the resolution. If you want the actual dimensions :

      5.3 inches high x 0.9 inches deep x 10.2 inches wide

  • NintendoLover

6 WEEKS LEFT! (or 42 days) I CANT WAIT!

    • JumpMan

      39 days, now 😀

  • L1MON

Im so excited, this console brings me so much good feelings!

  • Wii U Gamer#19

Man this i hope is similar to the actual Wii U menu, man this is goin to be one epic console for nintendo since the original NES! 🙂

Im gettting this when its released but its a Christmas Present. Ill have up till Christmas to stock up on New releases to play!! My Body is ready Freddy.

  • Christian

The Wii U doesn’t have the game suspension system that the 3DS has? That’s a shame, but fortunately this is not the finalized product. They’ll have time to stick that in there. The Home Menu UI looks great, simple and clean, not very cluttered.

    • Shane

Ya it’s not the final Wii U software were seeing here. Remember Miiverse and interactions beteen games using that? Nintendo wouldn’t go back to having to shut off the whole console altogether like the first NES. haha. I don’t think they will even go back to “Wii Menu” where it quits the game completely, but hopefull rest still. I hope for a reset, because if I’m trying for a goal in the game, and I mess up, I want to be able to reset it if I can’t just pause and reload. Like in Dead Rising(not 2), you couldn’t reset the game, OR reload your save file which was annoying…

Hahha, that looks like the Wii homebrew backup channel!

  • Kahhhhyle

Hey anybody know if wii u will be at nycc next week?

  • Princedavid

With miiverse, tvii, and things I see on wii u’s interface they are setting a standard. Their interface is coming out very nicely. Ligit.

  • Kaleb Taylor

The UI is ugly but I will still be getting a Wii U.

  • Dan

Good thing Wii U comes out 4 months ahead of my 1st Baby!!!!

    • JumpMan

      that was an odd segway…

  • Grodus

Dang it! I USED to live in NY! ARGHG!

  • Wii u

I hope I don’t buy the wii u then the wii u 2 comes out.

    • JumpMan

  • Kaasor

I was really hoping for this feature because only sound of it sounds great! 😀 Instead of waiting for games that I want so much, I can try them first even if its max. half an hour or hour 🙂 Gonna really need that Wii U Premium with 32GB 😀 Sad this was not on Wii (but I know why not) 🙂

  • JumpMan

i know you were thinking it too… so, that guys voice, right?

  • XxTwinRova

Gamestop that I work at has one of these setup.
