Online retail giant Amazon might have just leaked the Wii U box art design. The box art, shown below, differs substantially from the current Wii design, and is also different from the Darksiders 2 box art which was leaked on the German Amazon site a few months ago. So far three games have leaked with the new box design, all three are from Ubisoft. Neither Amazon, Nintendo, nor Ubisoft have commented on the new box art leak.

The new design is very similar to the old GameCube box art. The Wii U version shows a blue curved top with a yellow outline, and is generally very “clean” in its design. If this turns out to be the official design, it will be good for Nintendo to differentiating the new Wii U box art from the old Wii ones, making a clean break for a new console. Nintendo will likely unveil the new cover designs next month with the reveal of the console price and launch date. Wii U games will likely end up costing $60 as well. Check out the cases for the three games below:

That yellow line f*ck up the flow greatly, other wise i like it. (trainerblk approved of this message)

    • Matthewmc685

Why is there hate over a colour! I think Nintendo did a good job with the cover base. Plus it’s not a super sharp rendered on Photoshop look so it may be the one you have to deal with. I’m not saying I’m one hundred percent that this is the real thing but it looks that way and I would help people know it’s a new console haveing new box art.

    • AKA-Link77

i guess the line is a bit wierd…it shud be black, white or somthing to vividly say that this is a Wii U game. But overall i dont care that much…as long as the game is OWSM! πŸ˜€

    • NameUcanthate

No assassins creed symbol? hmmm. seems suspicious.

  • Dat Guy

I think the most interesting part is the [NINTENDO NETWORK] icon.
I’m looking forward to see how miiverse and this new network from Nintendo is going to work!

  • Collected

Looks good, like the gamecube, hopefully Nintendo stick with this or just change the yellow outline to white or dark blue

  • Daemonrunner

There is just one thing missing….where is my Nintendo seal?!

I will not accept this box art until I see that magical seal of quality!

  • Mac

I do love that box art, It definately distinguish the Wii box art with the WiiU box art. I hope this is the actual box art for the WiiU.

  • LordiMcKill

I hope they use the same blue colour for the game cases as well, that would really set the games apart from the Wii & Wii U.

Also a thumbs up for the cover, it shows that Nintendo are going back to their old ways.

  • mblomstrand92

I personally kinda like the yellow line. Overall I think it does look quite good.

  • Man

They should replace the yellow with white or make it clear couse that yellow aint workin

  • XDLugia

Looks awesome!! If this is fake, then it must be made by a fashion designer!!

    • Sabrine

u @sasuke2277 u should stop clonmainipg bad things on this u cant change nothing about that . and i played all the 3 games 1 and 2 beat them with sooo fun but i just got super paper mario yesterday (i got it cuz of my brother’s b-day) but i can play and its still awsome it may broke the series but i waz bored to always play it based -.-

  • brawl

reminds me of gamecube box art.

  • Indoctrination

hate that yellow line it not good

    • Mac

It’s just a line. It’s not going to determine if the game will be good or not. Plus, we don’t even know if this is the actual box art . Like I said in my own comment, i love that box art. And the fact that it resembles the Gamecube box art is what makes me like it more. The Gamecube box art is my favorite box art to date.

    • Doopliss

Why you hate the yellow line? It’s just a line god damn it

      • Mac

    • Ben

      leave the yellow line alone.

  • BossHog

Im with yall the yellow line gotta go, but i would just change the color to white. Do that and its a winner

  • Gene

  • The Beeshnu

    That doesn’t look too bad

  • Galaxy

I barely noticed the yellow to be honest. I don’t mind it

  • Socalm

Once the yellow line doesn’t affect my gameplay i’m good.

  • Douchuumen

There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just a yellow line. The Nintendo Network symbol seems out of place though.

    • trainerblk

I can agree about the nn symbol. But that yellow line rubing me the wrong way, for some odd reason. Maybe it’s just me.

  • silentbates

it would be better if the nintendo network logo was integrated with the wiiU logo now that would be smexy

  • Gabe Hoffman

I don’t see why people are whining about the yellow line. I like the box for how it reminds me of the Gamecube game cases. The yellow accents the blue nicely.

  • gPadWatcher

I like the Wii U box art. But do you know what’s better than the box art? It’s the beauty of the game once you insert the game disc inside the Wii U console.

  • 007 1/2

the yellow line doesnt match the game. also, the nintendo network symbol should be next to the rating or the ubisoft logo.

  • Oii

WHO GIVES A CRAP ABOUT THE YELLOW LINE. geez, the whole box is going to be blue btw. And the yellow line is all it is a yellow line, its not going to effect the way you play the game. hell, I hated the original xbox game boxes as much as i hated the original xbox, but that didnt stop me from playing the games. The yellow line is good, they need to differentiate the box design as much as they can.

  • Raving Rabbid

Love it. I Hope it will be the ONE.

  • Solphins

I have to agree with everyone, That yellow line is awful. It makes the Wii U have the ugliest box-art.

    • Samuel

I don’t get why everyone hate the yellow line, it’s just a line. And besides, I actually like it.

  • Ninfan

I don’t think its offical yet, probably a prototype case

  • yorgen

    great box art πŸ˜€
the yellow line don’t bother me.

  • Neonridr

I don’t mind the yellow line, it gives a bit of contrast between the logo and the image. I do agree that the Nintendo Network symbol seems weird in that current location. Is that logo supposed to mean that there is some online component to the game? If so, Neither Sony or Microsoft show any logos, the online information is usually listed on the back of the box where the information bar is.

  • donicx

I like it but i wish they would place the Nintendo network mark somewhere else. But other than that i give this box an A for cool.

  • Hamzilla

It is similar to the gamecube box art

  • JC

Looks like the GameCube box art. But that’s ok for me πŸ™‚

  • Kyron

The yellow line is nice, reminds me of PC games for some strange reason.

The Nintendo Network logo could go to the bottom right corner, right next to the ESRB rating (just a suggestion).

But if they keep it like that, then its fine. The picture quality is top-notch. Kudos, Nintendo!

  • Marcus

    Beautiful β™₯

    • Lisbeth

The game was The game was alright but it rlaley shouldn’t have been a paper Mario game paper Mario is turn based and always has been this game shouldn’t have been a paper Mario game I’m sure it dissapointed Manu of the paper Mario games.

  • Swic11

I personally dont care what the damn box looks like. I just want the games inside them to be amazing

    • Radojko95

That is the smartest thing i heard in a while πŸ˜€

  • TheCruzKing

I hate the yellow line as well.

  • Raul

You can pretty much call this confirmed. Gamestop also has an EA product with the same box art and Target as well. Admitting, the yellow throws me off a bit when you see it as a flat image HOWEVER, if you see the full box, it looks very sexy.

Just head on over to Target, go under electronics and find the Wii U, find Assassins Creed 3, click on it, and you should be able to see a flat version and a full box version. I’m telling you guys, its sweet. Check it out!

  • SteampunkJedi

I do think the yellow line is odd. Maybe it’s to keep the art separate from the game image if there’s blue sky in it. Like what Swic11 said though, what really matters is the game inside, not the case.

  • Ben

Dump the yellow line and add a bubble saying ONLY FOR WIIU on the exclusive game’s, and maybe add one for the games with extra stuff in them or downloadable content that’s already on the disc. That way it looks like the WiiU games have more functions and the console has more exclusive games and that will make more people buy it.

  • mojojojo888

I’m naturally only interested in the games, but since we are discussing it…I too also dislike the yellow line, it just seems out of place…a black line under the blue would be much better I think…

  • elbossmx

BestBuy has the same box art on it’s web page. Might this be the final box art?

  • power of life

yea i dont care about how box is going to look like. as longest the have a good games are really good in the future

  • Jump&Shoot-man

    amen to that Swic11 lol

  • LordFenix

I think it looks great… what i would have found to be cool… is if the yellow line was a dif color based off Rating or style of game LOL… but the yellow isnt that big of a deal… and as long as ppl dont confuse Wii-U boxes with Wii i think they did just fine…

  • AwayToHit

Love it. Its the same shape as the gamecube box art and thats a VERY good thing πŸ˜€

  • Paul

as long as it has the wii u name on it who cares, but anyways the boxart looks great

  • Mega64

I saw a leaked FIFA box art at GameStop

    • Paul

did it say fifa or fifa 13 ?

      • aeolus

        fifa 13 its legit.

  • BossHog

Im still on the fence with the wii u. i have an xbox 360 as my only console and im looking on buying another, but should i wait until the nex-gen consoles come out or should i get a wii u when it launches or even get a ps3.

    • tekkentagU

Wii U is next gen… but for their launch line up they’re getting ports as to not miss out on them. Ubisoft has stated AC3 is only using about half of the power of the Wii U(and is supposed to be the best looking one), imagine when it’s at full power!

  • HBusiness

I recently attended the Wii U Experience hands-on preview in Atlanta, and everything was blue. I mean everything. The lights, the outfits, even the snacks. A local food truck catered, but in addition they had blue cotton candy and to drink they had water and Jones Soda berry lemonade (which is bright blue).

    So blue wouldn’t surprise me.

  • Death

Reminds me of the gamecube art… but otherwise i couldn’t care less about the box art. I just want the awesome games πŸ˜€

  • Mr.device

Looks nice in my opinion it all flows well and is appealing to the eyes.
Although none of that stuff really matters cause I don’t care about the box, I only care about the game. xD

  • Mid-core Gamer

I wonder what the real box art will look (or looks) like (I don’t really care about this real or fake design).

    • Gabe Hoffman

I just found out a new article that showed up today says its real and legit.

  • gPadWatcher

And I thought my first comment wasn’t approved. I truly love the Wii U box art… especially Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed III.

  • Jmaya10

I am glad they chose a different route from the Wii box art. This will help with the overall branding for the Wii U. However, I do believe the yellow line is out of place, not the overall design, just the color. I say this because the Wii U has not showcased any yellow coloring within the Wii U brand.

Although, I do believe this might be Ubisoft’s alteration. Maybe they changed that portion for their sake. Overall I like it…. Hope they bring back the “Only For” as was seen on the Gamecube, but I highly doubt it. Since Nintendo has said that this is not a direct competitor to PS360. Even though we all know it is (for PS4 & 720).

  • Dan

No, no and No! They look horrible!!

    • Juanito

I play my next gen consoles daily. I feel like I’m lviing in the next generation, playing games. I’m like my own children. You know. The… next generation. Just like my consoles.

  • Nintendude

I don’t care to much for the box art design. I just want to play the games that are in the box.

  • ChefroyExcelence

am i the only one that likes the yellow line

    • Kyron

      You are not alone

  • tman431

the yellow linw is a bit egh but i think it should have silver instead of yellow

  • WiiU

Who freakin cares how the box looks like, WE WANT THE GAME INSIDE IT!

  • Fuzunga

Target has the same box art, but also a shot of the spine. Looks like the case itself is blue.

  • Wildman

    Apparently, these are legit.
“too legit to quit” as one Ubisoft rep. put it.
Confirmed as the game case design.

  • TheBoldman67

It’s been almost a day since any news now, I’m getting a bit worried.

    • Rani

I only bought the Wii now, even thgouh it has been out for years. I really wish I had bought one sooner. It is cheaper than PS3 (the console I would normally buy if I had to get just 1), but I don’t like the collection of games PS3 has right now. They definitely have more, but I feel like the games are mostly geared towards guys, and they’re missing the cute games like Mario that I grew up on. This bundle comes with Wii Sports and Sports Resort, which are incredibly fun. If you’re not one to go out and play sports, this is the next best thing. Nintendo Wii is affordable for most people too unlike the PS3. Definitely recommended for adults and kids alike.

  • Gabe Hoffman

I do not get why there is so much butt hurt and hate over a simple yellow line. Seriously judging a game by its box is like judging a book by its cover. Yellow is often a nice accent to blue.

  • TurtlePowa

I love how people are complaining about the yellow line when it really doesn’t matter at all?…Seriously it’s a line. You have the giant Assassins Creed box art and the line disturbs people?

  • TheBaconator

Well while you guys stare at a box I’ll be staring at my TV o.o
