Amazon is showing the official Wii U High Capcity battery pack and the Wii remote Fast Charging Cradle are both headed to Europe on October 4th. There’s currently no word on North American release for either of these devices, but the battery pack has been something many people have been asking for for ages. A recent test of the official Wii U battery pack showed battery life for the GamePad was significantly increased compared to normal battery life. Will you be picking up either of these accessories once they’re released? The battery pack looks to be retailing for €29.99, while the Wii Remote fast charging kit will retail for €39.99. local_offer Nintendo wii u stars Further Reading Zelda: Breath of the Wild has 76 side-quests Confirmed: Breath of the Wild is the last Wii Switch vs Wii U game case size comparison Miyamoto dismisses the Wii U as a “nece 6 reasons to grab a Nintendo Switch before March 6 reasons to skip the Nintendo Switch for now Ony Just the day Zelda Wind Waker HD is released <3 SonicLucario Ill stick with my old one, My charger isnt far from the controller at all so it isnt too much of an issue Jack5221 I might have to get one for my gamepad. Time flies when Im kicking ass in Pikmin and Wonderful 101, the games I used my gamepad the most on, so more life = less getting off my chair and plugging in my charger in. 😀 Jon For the moment, I’ll keep the old. my gamepad is usually plugged in anyway so once the battery actually starts to fail, then I’ll get Bob Wilkerson ditto.. I will use mine on battery power but often plug it in when the battery is low and for longer playing time Merrfn Is there some magical charger cord for the gamepad? I find it very annoying having to put the gamepad in the cradle in the corner of the room. Pikachief You can always just take the cord from the cradle and put it straight into the gamepad while you play… that’s what these people are doing I’m sure. Merrfn No… YOUR JOKING! I FEEL SO STUPID .-. Mercurio2054 hahahaha 🙂 Merrfn I just tried it… AND IT WORKS! ICHI Hahaha awesome made my day Merrfn Made mine too. Now I don’t have to put it in that annoying cradle when it need charging! bizzy gie Get this! I keep forgetting my GamePad is wireless because I have to plug it in to the socket all the time. Plus the wire is a nuisance. This battery is too short. Jon how long do you play? mine will last like 4 hours at least….. bizzy gie Around 1-2 hours. Jon do you left it fully charge? al most everyone I see says it will last for more than 2 hours. bizzy gie Mostly. It just doesn’t last long. I mainly use the internet on it. I don’t see what the problem is. Ducked Not worth paying for. Why can’t they include it in every Wii U Deluxe box? Ballzbeard No kidding, man. I’m sure it will be part of the deluxe in a year or so, though. Magnus Eriksson Yep, there I got another reason to be angry on Nintendo for. I bought this crappy Wii U in the beginning. To a higher price, lived through an endless draught with no games, no VC and a fucking TVii button that doesnt do a shit. And now they will release their consoles at a lower price, better batteries and more games. Where is my fucking ambassador program? Shit! Fuck! Aaaass!!! Fred Are you kidding. I have no regrets buying at launch. The last 9 months I’ve had a lot of fun that I wouldn’t have had if I had waited. Derk Let’s compare arguments… Magnus: ————- -Very few games -Crappy battery -High Price -TVii doesn’t work -Very Few VC games Fred: ————- -I had a lot of fun that I wouldn’t have had if I waited Fred I could look at the other side of your complaints -Very few games For me there were more games than I have had time to play in fact I’ve only conquered a couple of them I’ve never hit a point where I thought, “I want to play Wii U, but I don’t have anything to play” -Crappy battery It wasn’t a problem for me I play every day but only for 1-2 hours so with only 2 exceptions it’s always been enough and on those 2 occasions I just plugged the thing in and kept playing -High Price I payed $50 more for my Wii U Deluxe than my buddy that just bought the Zelda Bundle. For that $50 I got hundreds of hours of play time over the last 9 months that he didn’t get. Off the top of my head I’d guess about 300 hours so it cost me an extra 17 cents per hour to get it 9 months early I’m fine with that. Plus the VC promotion that I’ll discuss in a minute that my buddy didn’t get that saved me plenty of money. TVii doesn’t work- I’m guessing you must be a UK guy cause it works just fine here in the United States Very Few VC games- That’s correct no argument here I also wish there were more, however, if there’s a game you feel you must have right now put it in Wii mode and you can buy it I did this with Super Mario Bros 3. Of the few VC games there have been we’ve gotten discounts. The ones that were coolest to me were the 30 cent games, and buy 2 get 1 free SNES kirby games, and the buy one get one half off Gouls and Ghosts/Mega Man X. My buddy that bought the Zelda Bundle didn’t get any of those discounts offered to him. I’m sorry, but I’m glad I bought it when I did. I can understand what you might not, but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t the right choice for some of us. I’ve had some very memorable times with my family over the last 9 months that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. Fred Let me just emphasize the counter argument to “Very Few Games” here are all the games I currently own. Epic Mickey 2 Game & Wario NBA 2K13 New Super Mario Bros U New Super Luigi U Nintendo Land Rayman Legends Scribblenauts Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Tank Tank Tank! Legend of Zelda Wind Waker Mighty Switch Force Spin the Bottle Bumpies Party Trine 2 Balloon Fight Punch-Out Kirby’s Adventure Yoshi Super Metriod Donkey Kong F-Zero Super Mario World EarthBound If you think that’s not enough to last 9 months then let me add some of the games I also want, but don’t have time to play Lego City Undercover Need for Speed Most Wanted U Madden 13 Lego Batman 2 Wonderful 101 That right there would also provide quite a bit more entertainment if I had time. Ace J my fun wore off in may. he does have a point about it having very few games Yousif Alromaithi I agree it did wear of on march. I was spending more time on PS3 but when summer came I spend about May 1 to September 10 playing Wii U and 3DS non stop. I stopped for vacation now I am back on PS3 for GTA 5 and Kingdom Hearts. So it will be October I will play Wind Waker and Pokemon. Just can’t wait. Fred Are you kidding me? I currently own Epic Mickey 2 Game & Wario NBA 2K13 New Super Mario Bros U New Super Luigi U Nintendo Land Rayman Legends Scribblenauts Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Tank Tank Tank! Legend of Zelda Wind Waker Mighty Switch Force Spin the Bottle Bumpies Party Trine 2 Balloon Fight Punch-Out Kirby’s Adventure Yoshi Super Metriod Donkey Kong F-Zero Super Mario World EarthBound and if that weren’t enough I also want Need for Speed Most Wanted U Pikmin 3 Madden NFL 13 Lego Batman 2 DuckTales Remastered The Amazing SpiderMan: Ultimate Edition The Wonderful 101 Lego City Undercover Your Shape: Fitness Runner 2 Cloudberry Kingdom Mutant Mudds Nano Assault Neo Dungeons & Dragons Legend of Zelda Super Mario Bros I just haven’t had enough time to even play through what I have Ace J i meant AAA games mainly 3rd party games. the majority of those games you mentioned i have no intrest in. i mean like come on Epic Mickey 2?? really? Fred Ok so it’s not that there’s not any games, just not enough of the ones you like correct? That’s justifiable. It’s just like I don’t plan on buying a PS4 because last gen a had a Wii and PS3 and I enjoyed way more Wii games than PS3 games. That’s what happens when everyone has different tastes Derk I completely agree with you… Nintendo screwed us all over pretty bad (especially the 8gb buyers). All we can do is build a bridge and get over it because Nintendo doesn’t care. Jack5221 No one forced you to buy the console early… Just saying. Before you buy a console, check the games available for it first. Not enough games? dont see any games you like? Then don’t buy it. Wait for more games to come out, OR get lucky and wait for a price cut. I bought my 8gb Wii U a couple days after christmas. All I had to play when I got it was COD, NSMBU and Nintendoland. Then they had the 30cent classic game promotion which early adopters of the Wii U got to take advantage of. Then Monster Hunter and Lego city came out, then I had to wait from April ALL the way until September to get Pikmin 3, W101, Super Luigi U, and Rayman Legends. Come this December I’ll be enjoying Watch Dogs, Mario 3D Land, Sonic, DK, and Wind Waker HD. What Im trying to say here is, its not Nintendo’s fault there were no 1st party games released from Launch until about June for me to buy especially since I knew that most of the Wii Us games got delayed, yet I bought the console anyways. Is that Nintendo’s fault? Nope. Its mine, and honestly, I don’t regret it at all. I’ve been happy with my console since day one. If anything, Im happy they stopped making the 8gb Wii U because now I have something collectible. Could care less how much its worth in the future, because its a collectible piece of Nintendo history. Magnus Eriksson I was lied to. Nintendo lied about a lot of things. They lied about that they would have a steady stream of games. They lied about the “unprecedented partnership” with a lot of third parties. They lied about basically every possible thing this generation. Open your eyes! The Clockwork Being Please Magnus dont talk about Unprecedented partnership like its Nintendo’s fault. EA is the one that is to blame as for the rest of the things you said it is true. Magnus Eriksson But everything was still a joke Jack5221 I cancelled my PS4 pre-order. Ya know why? Because nearly every single PS4 launch title coming out this year is also available for my PS3. And since PS4 can not play PS3 games via disk, I have 0 incentive to upgrade. Waiting until next year, or whenever they stop releasing the games I want on PS3 kinda forcing me to upgrade. What exactly did Nintendo lie about? True certain games like W101, Rayman and Pikmin were supposed to be launch titles, but thats not necessarily a lie. The games were not ready so they said something like “We regret to inform you that … … … Delayed until August / September.” You’d probably be more pissed off if you got really crappy games at launch as opposed to waiting for better quality games down the road. “A delayed game is eventually good, but a bad game is bad forever.” – Shigeru Miyamoto. Quoted for the truth. And again… No one forced you to buy a Wii U at launch. Yousif Alromaithi They did not lie dude. Many people were pissed at Nintendo because Nintendo holds the top ten selling games ever those include Wii Sports. Those third party left stunned and asked Nintendo how the hell they did that. Nintendo did a mistake bring third party because they never supported the Wii and some did support the Wii U. Including Ubisoft, Sega and Activision. Capcom was great on Wii but on Wii U we shall wait and see. We need Cacpom games on Wii U. Still anyways Nintendo should relay on third party and needs to relay on first party to succeed. Derk I waited until MH3U came out and I bought my Wii U in April… Then Nintendo said that they had a delay in games and that it was literally their own fault for the delay. Now, the Wii U is a lot cheaper and Its my fault for not being able to predict the Nintendo’s dev team’s lack of experience? I don’t think so, Jack… Jack5221 Lack of experience? Nintendo did whats best for business. With the slow pace that Wii U was selling at you should have predicated that sooner or later, a price cut was coming. Same exact thing happened with the 3DS. It took almost a year for a price cut to happen, its not like this happened right away. You choose to buy the console early… NO ONE forced you to buy it early. You are not entitled to a refund, you are not entitled to an ambassador program. This is nothing new, as technology has always been this way…. Yousif Alromaithi What a good explanation. This things happens every time much like the Vita, Xbox 360 and PS3. Gamecube suffered from the same fate on the beginning they were no such as thing as ambassador program. Sony did not do that until Nintendo created it first. Pikachief I think he’s talking about game delays being a lack of experience. Which it was. “Originally Pikmin 3 and Wii Fit U were meant to be part of the lineup that was coming out between January and March. Last year I did not mean for them to be completed around this time, but I had a lot of trouble with the shaders in HD. Now that I’ve learned how to use them, I should do better in the future.” That’s a quote from Miyamoto explaining how the delays were caused by a lack of experience. But I totally agree that Nintendo should NOT do an ambassador program for wii U because its not necessary at all. Bob Wilkerson I can never tell if you are being sarcastic but if you are not then WOW. You sound like the people that go and pay $200-$300 for a cellphone at a contract price and then bitch when a faster, more storage, and extra features one comes out 6-12 months later. I know that TVii does not work in Europe but blame the EU for that one because they are the ones that put the stop to that because they felt it was too confusing to the people so therefore should not be allowed at this time but I guess a deal is being worked out as it is a possibility of it being available late this year or early next year. As far as the lower price goes welcome to technology and supply and demand 101. Now if the price dropped in the launch Window (usually the first 3-6 months) then I would say you have case to be upset but 10 months later you have no case. Derk Phones and video game systems are hardly comparable in the way they are priced because I get a free upgrade on my phone every year (the free upgrades justify the additional OPTION of buying a newer phone for bragging rights)… They release a new phone and then they give you a new phone. They delayed their games and then cut their prices and we got screwed for depreciation even though it was their fault. Bob Wilkerson Fine then lets go with TVs, or computers, or toys, or clothes, or just about any other product that is sold today. You could buy a TV today with a MSRP of $1799 lets say and in 30 days, 60 days 6 months , 1 year it could go on sale or have a permanent price drop or feature addition/change and guess what? If you are not in the allowed time frame that SOME stores allow for a price match or return then you do not get the difference or incentives. There is no guarantee on prices that I have ever seen. Sorry that you view it as being screwed but you apparently do not buy much of anything ever because prices/features change all the time especially on anything technology related. Derk Its my moral opinion that any type of depreciation this quickly is criminal. I’m not asking for a refund and Ill get over it. Imagine making payments on a car that costs $20,000… In 1yr that same car will cost $10,000 NEW because prices go down naturally… At about that same time, you have already paid off $10,000 in payments … You will now be required to pay another $10,000 even though your car is now 1yr old and you could buy a new one for the same amount. Is that fair in your opinion? blindtiger yeah they shouldve stuck with the classic nintendo “we have nothing to announce at this time” or just dropped price immediately Yousif Alromaithi That’s Business dude. Get over it. ChubbiestLamb6 That is entirely fair. You’ve already owned the car for a year. That doesn’t mean it is now an older and thus less valuable car, it means YOU’VE GOTTEN TO USE THE CAR FOR A WHOLE EXTRA YEAR ALREADY OVER THE PEOPLE BUYING ONE NOW (caps used for emphasis, not yelling). Your argument only makes sense if you reduce all purchases and actions to their monetary value rather than think about the actual opportunity cost. Yes, you could have had $10,000 more dollars in the long run if you had waited an extra year (you just saved some opportunity), but you also would have been unable to do any of the things that new car allows during that year of waiting (oh no! you just lost some opportunity!). If you fear the effects of deprecation, you will fall victim to what is known as The Wait Calculation, or an Incentive Trap. Every month you wait to buy increases the potential deal you will receive when you finally DO buy. But then if you wait again, you get an even BETTER deal, so you wait…but then if you wait AGAIN………and so on, until you never ever ever even buy it at all. Obviously, in reality you eventually do buy it, which proves that there must be some other force behind your decision as well besides just how good of a deal you get monetarily. For me, I bought my WiiU at launch not because I thought it was a good deal, but because I was excited to try it out as soon as possible and enjoy it with my family when I went home for the holidays, and because I wanted to show my support for Nintendo and help set a positive tone of success by helping drive up sales numbers. If none of the extra benefits you received by buying early seem worth it to you, then you just have a case of regular old buyer’s remorse, and that has nothing to do with depreciation. Bob Wilkerson Maybe it is not fair but it is life in the business world. Also we are talking about a $50 price drop after 10 months not a 50% price drop. It is not unheard of to buy an expensive ticket item such as a car at the beginning of the model year only to find that in a few months there is price drop (either permanent or temporary) that makes that expensive ticket item hundreds or thousands cheaper. Happens all the time in every industry. I guess that is why there is usually a disclaimer in store ads or product information that “prices and options are subject to change without notice” or something to that effect. Magnus Eriksson nah, it was a joke ICHI I didn’t think it was too confusing for the consumer for TVii but rather we have lots of little countries with lots of localised channels which would be a nightmare to make deals with as everyone wants a bit of TV here, especially in the UK I can’t speak for many other countries. Yousif Alromaithi Sorry you feel that way but have you tried Wind Waker. Anyways just wait. Arthur Jarret Hm, I got the same issue with sony for sticking me with a 600 dollar device only to say FU and giving people bigger harddrives AND an actually decent, not-pregnant looking model once it got a decent amount of games instead of choppy-running xbox360 ports… Of course, I bought it used in that first year for 150 bucks, but that’s beside the point… Sony and Nintendo should both send me free stuff! Magnus Eriksson ^truth Elitepwnsface This teaches me not to buy a console within the 1st year haha. Guest OH NO! you spent $50 more for a console and got to play it for 10 months longer than most knowing that there would be a price cut close to the 1 year mark like every console is! Yeah…. you don’t deserve anything. This happens with every console. The Wii, later Wiis had more memory where earlier ones different. Prices dropped just like this too. Ambassador program? yeah, would have been nice. yeah, I’ll admit, I wanted it too but did I feel robbed when Nintendo said no? No I wasn’t. The 3DS was a different story, it was slashed by a third within like 4 or 5 months, Not 1/7th like the Wii U. If you bought the Wii U expecting an ambassador program, then you bought it for the wrong reason. *Edit* ok, I see now that you were being sarcastic and that this was a joke…. Marcus Navarro It’s official, Magnus is clearly on a different level. Tom Carson Really really need the wiimote set to hit the US. Tired of bats dying every 2.5 hours or so. (I use generics…) Eliot Yes. Sold. Who wouldn’t want more battery life?! aldo2410 I will get this just to play wind waker without having to recharge the gamepad every 3 hours Baum 「ツリー」 That’s one of the reasons to get a Pro Controller 😀 You’ve still got your maps and your inventory on the Gamepad, but the Battery lasts half a month if it’s full ^^ aldo2410 already got the pro controller, but isnt’ the same Bob Wilkerson Now that this is out I surely hope Nintendo has plans to eventually make this battery pack the standard on all the Wii U systems or at least the deluxe units which looks to be the only models Nintendo plans to sell from here on out. Agent721 I played Super Luigi U & Pikmin back to back this weekend, and the battery died after 3 hours…I’m all over this when it hits the US. Lusunup Im I the only one whose gamepad only last about 1h and 30min? Noah Hood Have you tried turning your brightness down and/or turning on power save mode? Lusunup Yup brightness is on 3 powersaver is on, I guess it just means I have to buy a new one now. I think my battery was over-used. Mercurio2054 isn’t my case ICHI Mine can, sometimes it lasts all night and then for no reason sometimes it just dies on its arse. Especially when playing Lego city?! Which you would think would use less than splinter cell played on the gamepad but obviously not! Majora’s Mask I dont want to be rude but its because you played with the gamepad charging and playing its like a laptop, mine now can only stand for like 8 minutes you have to buy another one if you want your battery fixed and remember not to play while the gamepad is charging.Little tip i personally play a lot with the pro controller it has 80 hours of battery and it can charge real quickly Michael DeVore Dated info. You’re thinking of the old nickel cadmium batteries before everyone went to Lithium. Nickel has a nasty memory effect so you always want to fully discharge it then do a full charge. Otherwise it will do exactly what you describe. Lithium is exactly the opposite. You never want to fully discharge it because when it’s fully discharged the chemical reaction starts to break down and will diminish it’s full capacity. Most of the vicious forms of Memory Effect do not effect Lithium, but there was recently a discovery of a small memory effect that can occur, and build up. However, the solution is simple if you have it. Pull the battery out and let it sit idle for a few days. Then plug it back in and fully charge it. http://phys.org/news/2013-04-memory-effect-lithium-ion-batteries.html However, if your issue is that you left it fully discharged for a long period then the issue is that the chemical makeup has degraded and cannot accept a full charge any more. Majora’s Mask Oh i didnt know that ty man/woman Jon you and bizzy it seems. ab wii kenobi Same here! Noah Hood I get about 3 hours of battery life on the Gamepad with power save mode on and with the brightness at it’s lowest setting. -_- I would defiantly buy the new battery. Please bring this to America Nintendo. c: Agent721 Whoa…thank god I haven’t resorted to that yet, but that’s terrible. Let’s hope this batter shows up real soon. Sdudyoy As I never had trouble with the battery life I will most likely not be getting this if it comes to the US but this is good because there are alot of reviewers who didn’t like the “Short” battery life. SuperSmashLinkMo great i like that new battery you can now play much longer Wiiluigi Been waiting for this since March! I will not believe it til I see it. Zuxs13 For this price I will skip it (assuming it comes to the US and will be around $30-40) The game time on the GamePad is more than enough for me. mine lasts a good 5-6 hrs. No need for more than that. If i really need more than that i have the pro- controller. Arthur Jarret Not picking up either. I got my wii pad hooked up in one of many outlets I made throughout my house (you can never have enough, you know) – right next to my chair. For the wii remote, I’m currently using these awesome self-charging batteries. They charge using movement – making them perfect for wii games. I only switch them out when playing a game with the classic controller pro. C4 Nope. 3 – 4 hours is enough for one session for me. Just bought 4 rechargable Eneloops for the Wii Remotes a while ago. A 700mAh rechargable battery (Mad Catz) lasted around 4 – 5 hours normal usage for me. (up to 15 hours according to the manufactor…) According to Nintendo regular Alcaline batteries last “up to 30 hours” (probably without rumble and stuff?) Wonder how Nintendo’s High Capacity battery pack will perform. Zorpix Honestly, I’m never without a plug, and when not in use, gamepad sits on its charger, so I wont be needing this, but great idea for those who it bothers 😀 ZeldaFan83 Finally an official Wii Remote charging option that will actually work. I’m tired of all the crappy 3rd party charging systems. I’m also sick of buying batteries. The bigger GamePad battery capacity is definitely a plus. Mine dies after 2-3 hrs. I will definitely be getting both of these when they come to the U.S. blindtiger thank you! ive been asking for a first party rechargable remote battery forever. and the balance board for that matter. it seems so obvious. the procontroller battery is fantastic. i know they can do it… esp since we’re using them for another 5+ years. Carlos The battery on my gamepad has between 3 to 4 hours autonomy, for me is enough, and I can always pull the plug in if I need. However I ear many complaints that the gamepad battery only lasts 1 hour, problably they have a faulty product and should complain while the system is on waranty. ab wii kenobi Well I hope it do come to the states cause 3 hours of battery life and then attaching the charger cord is a inconvenience while in the middle of gaming! NextChannelGames Everyone!!! Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero has hit its goal for Wii U!!! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1236620800/shantae-half-genie-hero/comments Merrfn Does Europe mean everywhere out of NA and Japan? ICHI No, sometimes it will mean the PAL territories but recently Australia has been getting the shaft. I would be interested to see if they do get it though. Merrfn And New Zealand is getting the shaft even more then Aussie! ICHI I was hoping you would be able to clarify that 🙂 Yeah it’s not fair that someone in the same region doesn’t get the same games/peripherals released in it. Merrfn Yeah, it can suck living here sometimes. Living over here sucks for gamers because you just get screwed. But I live next to a beach, so when there are no games to play I go for a dip in the water or go on the deck and admire sun setting on the water. Yes you heard right. A gamer that goes OUTSIDE! I neva’ listen to ‘dem stereotypes 😉 Fuzunga This is worth importing if you can. It makes a tremendous difference. Mitch Hall I just got my Wii U today, and I’m freakin’ loving it so far. Picked up Wonderful 101, Nintendo Land, and a Pro Controller, and I’m about to cue up the download for Wind Waker. By the way, Nintendo Land is probably the best multiplayer game I’ve played since Brawl. Just saying. Pikachief Nintendo Land is SO MUCH FUN with people. By yourself it sadly only goes so far. Pikmin and Donkey Kong Crash Course are pretty fun though. Mitch Hall Agreed. Spent quite a while today playing all of the attractions with my little sister – Mario Chase, Luigi’s Ghost Mansion, and Takamaru’s Ninja Castle are her and I’s favorites so far. Elem187 Wonderful 101 is such a delight to play AAAkabob I hate the level of ignorance when it comes to economics and entitlement on this website. Elem187 Oh I agree whole heartily.. its maddening “Nintendo should have gave these out for free.. it should have come with the Wii U..>Why does the Wii U cost $350” You add this battery in and the device would sell for almost $400…. add in a larger harddrive that gamers ask for, it would cost $500. This idea that Nintendo should lose money just because Sony/Microsoft have the means to do so is purely idiotic…. There is a reason why Nintendo is one of the best run companies in the industry and why Sony bleeds so much money out of their gaming division…. younger people foolishly buy into marxism. They don’t understand the concept of profit, or business. They take the saying “the customer is always right” to new levels of stupidity.. The truth is if Nintendo listened to “gamers” they would be bankrupt and on the ropes like Sony is, selling buldings and what not to struggle to keep their head above water. Sydney Ultrasyd Haha you again. “marxism”. Dude, I’m investing 500 000€ in building a business and I can tell you it will be doing very fine even during its 1st year. Still, I think they should get this battery as a basic feature, because the Wii U Gamepad and off-tv play is the advantage of the Wii U. That’s where they can make the difference. Don’t call me a young marxist, thanks. Also I never complained about Wii U price. From my experience, all the friends I showed the Wii U told me that it’s a bit weird that the main feature of this console is the Gamepad and off-screen play, but that you have to stay very close to your TV and most of time pluged if you play more than 3 hours. Also, it’s a pain when you play a multiplayer game with 4 or more people, like Nintendoland, and have to keep the Gamepad plugged when you want to pass it to the next player. Eduardo im going to get one for sure. disqus_jnx8BgXLZd The one that should have come with the pad originally… Nintendo, I love you, but stop raping my pocket for no reason. WellWisher Just like Wii Motion Plus and online gameplay for Wii Sports. Oh and HD graphics for the Wii! Nintendo are getting really good at this. Love them too, but I’ve slowly been making my way back to the PC since the Gamecube. Wii U has me hopeful for next year though. disqus_jnx8BgXLZd I don’t know, the gamecube was perfect. BUT, the N64 rumble pak, expansion pak, memory pak… those are more reminiscent of what’s going on since the Wii Elem187 They went with the cheapo battery to keep the price of the console down… Gamers are never happy, if they would have stuffed everything gamers said they wanted into this box (USB 3.0, larger harddrive, better gamepad battery) they would still be here complaining that the Wii U costs $500. Noteak Coincidence it comes out the same day of Wind Waker HD, I think not!!! manowaffles Boy I hope we can get these in the States soon. Ice Climbers Hopefully these come to the states. I would buy the battery pack for the Wiimote first simply because I’m tired of crappy 3rd party battery packs. I had two battery packs that I was using. After Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Skyward Sword those battery packs would die after 5 MINUTES on a full charge. Magiphart Oh look, another thing that Europe gets. Gabrielsen Why so grumpy? America got Wind Waker early… this is just some silly battery upgrade. Sure, it’s nice and all, but it is not Wind Waker. Magiphart Pikmin 3, Sonic Lost Worlds, Mario & Luigi Dream Team, and Wonderful 101 are all games that release earlier in Europe that America. What does America get early? A remake of a game that’s been out since 2003. yay. ICHI Yay! Elem187 Agreed. I rather would have had Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 early than Wind Waker. Sydney Ultrasyd I won’t buy it now … I usually don’t play more than 3 hours in a row so it’s fine. But the day when my Gamepad’s battery shows signs of weakness, I’ll get one… They should include that in the Wii U pack for new users and don’t ask extra money for it. Elem187 What? you expect them to just spend all this money and give these out for free? There is a reason why you aren’t CEO of a company.. it would be bankrupt by now. Sydney Ultrasyd Well, my business is doing fine, thank you. And in my business, I never cut prices. The perception of people is either “their business isn’t doing good, so they are cutting prices”, or “they cut prices now, so it was overpriced before”. Instead, I often give a little free stuff, and the reaction of people is like “wow, I got more for the same price”. Same result if you want, not the same effect. When I do something important / hard, i know the value of my job, I’m proud of it, and I charge full price. But I can easily give away the little things of lesser importance. The Wii U is an awesome new system, a new battery is just a battery. So, instead of cutting the price of the Wii U, which is like recognizing it’s not doing well, they should add more for the same value, in my opinion. Also, what is the main advantage of the Wii U ? Powerful ? No way. Built-in memory ? No way, 32 Gb is ridiculous. The difference is the Game Pad, and that’s where Nintendo should put their efforts. They want to tell people “you can play off tv for hours”, not “stay pluged all day long”. So everything in that direction is better. If they can now produce better betteries, let’s have it as a defaut feature. Instead of “we cut the price of the wii U because it’s not doing well, and you can play for up to 3h with the awesome gamepad, but we know it’s not long enough so we created an other battery and we’ll charge you some more $$$ for that”, i prefer “buy our wii U, a new system which allows you to play up to 8h where you want in your house without having to stay close to your TV with that plug most of time”. And last, the basic model didn’t sell well, everybody has “deluxe” – with price cut. Why not a “deluxe+” at the same price with new battery ? But you are right, I’m not a CEO, so I probably say bullshit, and they have the good ideas, like selling an handheld without a charger so that you have to give some more $$$ for a basic and mandatory feature. TrueWiiMaster I definitely want both, but those prices seem too high. I think a more reasonable asking price would be $20 for the Gamepad battery and $30 for the Wii remote charger (which is incredibly late). RoyRelapse According to my local gameshop, it will release this friday ! 😀 NextChannelGames Hey Ashley, Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero has reach its goal to be on all consoles Kristian Kouvo Got one already (am from EU/.fi). Ordered it from Play-Asia. Comes with a small screwdriver. Easy to install, doubles the playing time. It’s a no brainer. Buy it now. Matt I think this should have been released with the console, why should I have to pay more for something that should have already been there! Elem187 If it was included in the first place you would be on these message boards complaining that the Wii U costs $400. Matt Look its just my opinion. I wouldnt have complained if it was 400$ cause I would of been to busy on my gamepad to complain seeing as how it would have had a decent battery life! 00EpicGamer00 I don’t understand when people like you (not making fun of you, just talking in a general point of view here) argue about the battery life of the gamepad. All you have to do is put the gamepad in the charger and continue playing. I do it all the time. I do that with my 3DS as well. Or, if you don’t want to do that, just go and buy a Wii U pro-controller. It apparently lasts for 80 hours at a time. Matt TBH I have never complained about the battery life, as you said the moment the lil red light turns on in the plug goes in I have no issue with this whatsoever. What I dont like is the fact that the battery that it came with is being replaced by a battery that lasts longer by a substantial amount of battery life. I feel cheated on the product I already bought and now I have to shell out more money, 30$ may not be much to you but to a 20yr old living on his own going to school and working a F/T job its not quite in the budget! 00EpicGamer00 Fair enough. Oh, I think $30 is a bit much as well. Which is why I’m not getting on of those…yet anyway, I’ll see how I do for a little while without it. I don’t want you thinking I’m one of those snooty rich kids. I know how to spend money wisely. And I’m pretty generous with money. If my parents, or anyone I know REALLY needs an extra $10, $20, $50, and even $100. I can spare it. Wildman I have a US Wii U and I live in the UK. I’m all over this!
