Nintendo has announced that it will be offering a free to play weekend for Wii Sports Club on March 21. The promotion will begin at 9am PST on March 21 and will extend to March 23 11:59pm PST. This free weekend will include access to all currently available sports, including golf, bowling, and tennis. If you previously used your trial for Wii Sports Club when the games were released, you’ll still be able to take advantage of this free weekend. This is good news for golf fans, as the 9 hole Wii Sports Resort update for Wii Sports Club Golf went live today and you’ll be able to take advantage of it then. Day passes for the games will still be available for $1.99, or you can purchase the game for the full price of $9.99. local_offer Nintendo wii sports club wii u stars Further Reading Nintendo loses patent appeal, ordered to pay Nintendo was brainstorming about Switch when helpo https://www.change.org/petitions/nintendo-adding-online-multiplayer-and-voice-chat-to-virtual-console-games I just Posted a Petition to add online multiplayer and Voice chat to VC games just imagine how awesome hat would be! Yep I don’t think voice chat is a good idea. helpo it doesnt have to be something you like but a lot of other people do you can always turn off voice chat. like a mute button Gentle Robot So leave voice chat off. Some of us would like to trash talk in Street Fighter II as we get our asses handed to us. Alden Youngthunder forshizzle!!! about to rank wisconsin up in tennis and golf next week Josiah Parsons LOL. Ohio is in the same boat. I might try to make us more awesomer. Helbert Pina Nice, but it would be better if they actually discounted them… I don’t know, I think $10 per “sport” is a bit too much for a game we got for free with the original Wii… 🙁 Mercurio2054 they have to maintain a network infrastructure. Josiah Parsons My biggest problem with Sports Club is that people keep disconnecting in the middle of Golf games. RockieOllie The whole online infrastructure for Wii Sports Club is so bare bones that its sad. I really wished Nintendo took the time to flesh it out more. Dark-Link73 I don’t know how the online part works, so I’m just guessing here, but if is anything like the regular offline mode; I think it has very little to do with the online infrastructure and more with tr length of the game. I remember playing Golf on Wii and my young nephew (being a real life golf player) and my kids would quit mid-match because the game was to long for them. Even at 6 holes. Sometimes I would not finish games because I would have to leave or other stuff would come up. So unless you can play only 3 holes or less per match, players quitting half match will be a predominant issue for a long time. Poor infrastructure or not. Yep They should be punished like level reduction or something/ Dark-Link73 I remember MKDS (or maybe was MKWii, I don’t remember) having that and it wad awful because whenever my network happened to disconnect, I’d be punished for something that was totally beyond my control. bob ‘Sometimes I would not finish games because I would have to leave or other stuff would come up.’ all I need to say to that is… League of Legends Dark-Link73 What’s that? (too lazy right now to do a search, lol) Nintenjoe82 There’s some level 10* Tennis players who have never accepted a loss against me and disconnect every time I win. Should definitely employ the Mario Kart tactic of severe punishment for disconnects. Mario Garth when are they adding new sports? I’m waiting for a discount or bundle. Andrew W Garttmeyer Still have no interest until a group of people at my home can enter a bowling tournament vs other groups of people all over the world. Connor Yeah, it’s kind of crazy that they haven’t implemented this. Gentle Robot The multiplayer modes are pretty limited. I’d like to play a full tennis match and not one set. Dark-Link73 While i completely agree with you, can you imagine how long would that take? Josiah was complaining that people quit in the middle of a golf game, it would be as bad in a full match of tennis. I’d still like to have the option of a full match though. 🙁 Andrew W Garttmeyer Well, the whole tournament doesn’t have to happen in one night. They could schedule times, 2 hrs every Friday night for a month or some shit. Yes, they would have to get…creative?! Dark-Link73 “Tournament”? What are you talking about? We’re talking about online play. Andrew W Garttmeyer Well, so am I (an online bowling tournament), your comment was under mine, I had thought you were talking about it. I now see that you are only responding to the tennis match, not my bowling tournament. If you just scroll up three comments you may see my confusion. steveb944 I know what I’m doing that weekend now. I wasted my trial because I signed up, planned to play the next day, but then got called in to work. DC777 Should be free all the time. I’m certainly never buying it. Yep Cuz you not buying it should be free? Maybe all games you have no interest in should be free. RyuNoHadouken Wii Sports should be freeware…i wouldnt pay more than 5 bucks for it…definitely not paying $10 per sport…thats ludicrous Thomas Vienna Does anybody know that if I take advantage of this free weekend, will I still be able to save for later my 24 hour free trial that I still have from not ever starting the game? It would stink if my free trial started automatically when the weekend made it already free. CaesarGood what the bat, where the baseball at, I’m ready to exercise and knock some homers in… fireheartis1 This is cool and all, but until they add Wii Sports Boxing I’m pretty much going to say bleh. I love Wii Sports and having them online is great but without boxing it’s just not the same. Kyle will play golf when this happens as I dont have it. What is taking Baseball sooo long!? X3Charlie Did they expand the number of sports? InterTreble Thanks Nintendo!!! I love this way to deal with your customers! Great weekend is coming!!! :))) brian I played last night. Couldn’t connect to a game of golf. But I did win two games of bowling in a row.
