Wii Fit U is the Wii U counterpart to the Wii Fit training and conditioning game which was released on the old Wii console. Wii Fit U will be compatible with the old Wii Balance Board, since the Wii U accessories are compatible with controllers and accessories from the old system. Since a lot of Wii gamers own the Balance Board, which is compatible with the Wii U, Nintendo will release the Wii Fit U game as a standalone game. It’s also like that Nintendo will release the game as part of a new Wii U bundle that includes the Balance Board. Wii Fit U will include a bunch of exercise mini games designed to help players with their training, posture, stretching, and more.

Wii Fit U features

Wii Fit U
Most of the features are expected to carry over from the old Wii Fit game, with mini games, and on screen training instruction, video guides, and more. The Wii U version of the game will feature full HD graphics, and will likely add more features and mini games as well. It is unknown if Nintendo will include some sort of online multiplayer or stats tracking to the new game, or whether the multiplayer will remain local. The Wii U Balance Board will support player weights of up to 330 lbs, or 150 KG.

In addition to supporting the Balance Board for mini games, Nintendo is also working on implementing the use of the new Wii U tablet controller in various ways.

Wii Fit U games

Most of the games are expected to be ported to the new Wii U Fit, including:

  • Yoga (stretching, poses, etc)
  • Aerobic (hoola hooping, jogging)
  • Strength training (push ups, leg extensions, and more)
  • Balance games (snowboarding, slalom skiing, tightrope walking)

Wii Fit U is expected to be released sometime in 2013.

Am interested in the Wii U Fit. Will this new system still have a control that has to be on your hand like the old version or will it be independent like the XBox? I am interested in purchasing.

    Thank you.

I have seen games “Wii Fit U” that require players to use a controller where others didn’t, try looking @ demos of games you had in mind. Wish I could be more help, but it depends on the game…
