According to Stephen Totilo of Kotaku, it looks like the developers of Pandora’s Tower are helping to develop the upcoming Wii Fit U that’s scheduled to be released in December. Totilo says he noticed Ganbarion listed on the title screen of Wii Fit U. Wii Fit U is slated for release in December, but there will be a free trial in November for Wii U owners.

Did you play Pandora’s Tower and enjoy it? It came out late in the Wii’s life cycle, so many may have missed it.

    …are you fucking serious?

  • Sdudyoy

    Wait what? that’s pretty odd.

  • Christopher Acuna

  • Archiq09

    kotaku is crazy sometime imo.

  • Pandora’s Tower is probably placed either 2nd or 3rd on people’s list when it comes to the Operation Rainfall titles. It was weird, but a surprisingly good game with satisfying combat.

Maybe you feed Elena vegetables in Wii Fit U to keep her in healthy shape…

    • Adrian

Weren’t there only three operation rainfall titles? Haha

    • FackMaaii

Pandora’s Tower was actually my favorite and Xenoblade being the second (haven’t played The Last Story, so maybe my list isn’t fair).

  • Josiah Parsons

    Wii Fit RPG!
    Utterly. Epic.

    • That might actually be interesting!

    • JeanPaul

lol your stat ups will be based off of your actually physical improvements!

    • Adrian

If they actually had an accurate way of measuring body composition and changes then I would be all over that. Wii fit is actually pretty fun, but not actually a workout.

      • disqus_jnx8BgXLZd

It works for some people. I mean, it’s not like you’re gonna become a juggernaut or something, but it’s physical activity… and that’s that, some people don’t really do … anything all day unless there’s a screen in front

        • Adrian

Well, it’s fun that’s for sure. But I wish they included other peripherals aside from the wii fit board. For instance, combine it with DDR. DDR is a freakin workout! At least at the highest and higher levels.

      • well my wife combine wii fit and My Fitness Coach, and the games really do the job.

    • Merrfn

Oh my god… that sounds horrible but amazing at the same time…

    • Noel

      LOLOLOLOLOL. You’re a BABY!

  • Henry Hotspur

Remember how Rareware went from developing revolutionary first-person shooters and gigantic adventure games to developing KINECT SPORTS?! Watch out, Ganbarion.

    • British_Otaku

Um, they are constantly making the best One Piece games (Gigant Battle and Unlimited series) aside from Pandora’s Tower, it isn’t odd for them to help out on other games. You would be surprised what Intelligent Systems or Game Freak have been doing for the last few years aside from Fire Emblem and Pokemon.

      • Dáibhí wotshissurname

Shit, are you serious?! You LIKED Unlimited Cruise?! That button-mashing, only half-localised, terrible piece of crap. Regret buying two horrible 3DS games.

      • Dáibhí wotshissurname

I will admit though, they do seem to be ruturning to form with Romance Dawn, and Gigant Battle was good. Just dont get how they screwed up UC so bad.

        • British_Otaku

They didn’t make Romance Dawn, Three Rings did.

It isn’t their fault if Namco Bandai chooses to split their work in SP in half and to not sub parts of it, still a brilliant game(s), dude.

Sicne you aren’t getting any feedback on the game other than being half localised, I’ll just say that the game is good for people that enjoy wandering around and TONS of One Piece fanservice. I can’t say that it’s the most polished combat for One Piece game or from them. However, it works quite while for what the game is.

I don’t hold weak combat mechanics against Zelda games and they top that series pretty safely there. >_> I’m curious what you would think of the Pirate Warriors games almost if that’s how you feel. If you meant button mashing elsewhere, I don’t know what you mean.

  • Wiiluigi

They should be developing a new and exciting rpg! Hopefully these two great teams can comeup with some sort of fun and exciting gameplay.

Pandoras tower is a great game. Weird storyline but great nonetheless.

  • Phoenix Maybe

From Pandora’s Tower to this? How did that happen?

    • British_Otaku

They are only co-developers here, given that they are still doing a One Piece game (all of their ones are really good) this year, that they haven’t being making only Wii Fit games for the last generation or decade and TOSE exist, they are just helping out on the side from their main projects, polished licensed games.

      Look at TOSE’s lineup: http://www.1up.com/features/gaming-dirty-secret
1000 games to their name, but you never knew they made those game you love/hate.

  • Rinslowe

    That’s different, but in a good way…

  • Got the game early 2012 on my Wii as the games like Xenoblade Chronicles, Last Story and Pandora’s Tower where released early in Europe (for a change (: ) And yes I enjoyed the game, not as good as Xenoblade or Last Story but definitely a jewel of a game and imo considered as one of the best games released on Wii Next to MPT, both Zelda’s, Xenoblade and Last Story. Nice to hear Ganbarion is still doing stuff, as it became awfully silent after the release for Pandora’s Tower (same for Mistwalker btw who made Last Story)

But why Wii Fit U? I would have much rather seen a new RPG from them. Imagine the trailers of WiiU RPG’s First X, Followed by Ganbarions game and at the end Last Story II Obviously Last Story reeks for sequal games in a different world, different characters but using the name Last Story as the name alone is just a standalone gametitle which has endless possibilities like Final Fantasy has.
Owell good to hear they are still working on games 🙂 now announce Pandora’s Tower 2 or something 😛

  • Hulkamania

Why can’t they give us an HD Pandora’s Tower? That game was awesome.

Pandora’s Tower is one game I still need to pick up for the Wii. I’m waiting until I beat The Last Story though since I don’t have too much time to put into RPG’s. The Last Story has to be my favorite RPG of all time though. I like it way better than I did Xenoblade Chronicles. Call me crazy but I hated that you have to grind so hard in Xenoblade just to pass the second boss. That too me was really stupid. The Last Story requires less grinding and more action which I love. I’ve heard Pandora’s Tower is very similar, so I know I will love that one just as much. Can’t wait to see what Ganbarion has done to help with the development of Wii Fit U.
