Finally, after sweating for the past two months in the Summer heat working on the new Wii U Daily site, it’s gone live! As you can see, everything is different. Everything is new and shiny. Everything is better (at least, that’s what we think). We have completely revamped the Wii U games page, it now lists all the games for the console, and we’ve added lots of individual game pages as well. Take a look at ZombiU, for example. We’ll be adding game pages over the next few days.

Wii U daily
The new site took us hundreds of man hours to develop, and we’re very proud of the results. But that doesn’t mean we’re not open to suggestions — feel free to let us know your thoughts, praise, criticism, and anything else. Be sure to check out the new Wii U forums as well. Bear with us over the next few days as we iron out the last few bugs and glitches. If you find a bug, please let us know by posting in the comments on this page.

A very tired Wii U Daily team

I liked the old one more but you guys did a good job. Well done.

    • Death

I too liked the old one better. But it’s probably just my OCD kicking in. Some people are bound to like it better than the old one. But as long as there are humans, there will be controversy XD

      • Drew

        Me three!

    • joe

    • GamersGlobal

      me too.

The old one was like a good NewsPaper, this looks like a Comic…

Firstly, I commend your work as I know it would have taken a Sh*t load of time to do so well done for that.

One of the suggestions I have is regarding the Ads. I know they help fund the site in one way or the other however their positioning would be better if they were adjacent to each other as opposed to one in the middle of the page and another on the top right. It would make it easier to navigate around (or toward) the Ads if they were clearly shown and it also makes the site look neater too.

Also regarding navigation around the site, I noticed allot of repetition. For example the “Popular Wii U Games” list has both the name in regular text and also the game logo next to it. I would suggest you choose one or the other but not both because it makes things look some what clustered.
I also suggest the same for the “About the Wii U” section. Something I learned in marketing was that you don’t need to have images for the sake of having images or to fill a space. Instead think of a different way to use the space.
i.e. Instead of dedicating the large space on the right side of the site to “About the Wii U” and “Popular Wii U Games”, you could simple create a drop down combo box on the top of the page in between “Home” and “Games” and call it something like “Wii U Info” or just simply “Wii U” and when the mouse hovers over that title, the drop down box appears with the options for: Wii U Console, Wii U Gamepad, Wii U Models etc.

Again I know how long it takes to upgrade and revamp a site and you have done a great job and I hope my comments don’t seem over the top, but as you wanted sincerity, I was sincere.

  • Jannie Wildeman

I like this layout much more, it looks great. Fantastic job, guys.

  • Fuze013

Lol I was looking at the new page, and couldn’t help to laugh at seeing an xbox 360 ad right next to the Wii U Daily banner… haha, either way, love the new revamped look on the site, keep up the good work!

  • Vulture

  • not.tendo

This one have a more magazine look, and more subcategories, I prefer the old one since it’s more simple, however this one is good too, is neat.

  • Alienfish’s Grandma

It sucks, change it back please, also make comments appear faster.

    • Alienfish’s Grandma

I take back what I said about the comments appearing faster

      • Leon Fletcher

Wow, that’s harsh, they spent ages creating a new design, which is difficult, and all you can say is change it back.

        Show some appreciation.

I love the new theme ^_^

        • not.tendo

hey he doesn’t have to lie just to be polite, but could definitely use another words, but i agree comment moderation should be turned off

  • Garzard

  • Alienfish

Dont listen to granny she is angry because I put her in a home,I like the new look.

  • Alienfish

I am a great big horses ass.

  • Jugsley

WII-U is stupid, not even better in graphics than xbox…….xbox>>wii-u cos we have halo u noobs

    • shadowfan2z

Wii U does have better graphics than Xbox 360.. I don’t what your talking Microsucks fanboy. And Halo is just a ripoff of Metroid. Go back to your Microsucks worship hall.

  • NameUcan’thate

Good job guys. finally, everything is up to date and looking great.

  • jamyd0dger

The new look is good! keep up the good work

  • Amish Thunder

    I think it’s sexy

  • Ben

The site seems to be loading slower. And i don’t like the ad in the middle of the homepage. Please get rid of that because it makes the site messy and cheap looking.

  • Solboogie

I have to admit the new layout and look will take some time to get use to.

  • Smash

    Very nice improvment!

  • LilLizard

Has a better aspect to the whole institute of the design.

  • derty

    Looks great 🙂
But I tried signing up for the forum and I’m still waiting on my confirmation email. The email address is the same as the one I’m using for this comment.

  • Grodus

I like the new site. It’ll take some getting used to sure, but, once I do I know I’ll like it even more.

    • Grodus

Hey, do you guys know the forums button is under the page?

      • shadowfan2z

No it’s not. It’s right next to the reviews button. (REVIEWS button does not work since Wii U hasn’t launched yet.

  • Ahmed360

    I like the new look…BUT

What I really “LOVED” about the old design, was the cleaner look and Bigger news previews tiles, It was easier to read and concentrate on a particular topic, now everything seems smaller to me 🙁

    Still good, I’m not complaining!

  • Raul

Ignore those comments by those people. The new site looks absolutely great and I’m excited to rummage through the pages!!!!!!!!! Thank you Wii U daily staff for your hard work!

  • Wii Uoops sucks

I dig the new look, it reminds me of my boyfriend Wii Uoops new hairstyle.

  • Wii Uoops!

This is cool, though what happened to the preview?

  • TheLoveOfGaming

Well it’s better than the ripped off Joystiq design you had. Will help you when you claim moral authority about originality.

    • shadowfan2z

Too much advertisement here:-)! The older version was better.

  • Codplayer

I like it cuz it looks badass

  • WiiUPlayWithMe:P

I like the new layout. My only issue with it is, when I go on the page on my phone, it doesn’t fit the text when I zoom in, which it used to. Fix that and it’d be perfect. Nice job guys, looks great =D

  • kamz

Seriously the old interface was much more simple and user friendly.

  • Pokemon Master#1

    I like it.

  • Juan

The Forum doesn’t work, it says that the page doesn’t exist.

  • videogamer1

the (U) is awesome!!!!! BRING IT ON for november 18th for the release date!!!! CANT WAIT!!!!!

  • TheMaddMan

I love it, though I think that a couple parts, like the top, are a bit squeezed.

  • shadowfan2z

    I have some suggestions –

    * At the top of the home page where the Wii U DAILY logo is, could you please add blue the U and DAILY….
    * Move the search bar up to the top above the FEATURES, REVIEWS, AND FORUM tabs.
    * Update all the information about the Wii U.
    * Above the Wii U DAILY logo and the tabs, could you add something there. Maybe an ad or something.

I hope you take the time to consider making these changes…. Thank you! 🙂

    • Nick Watt

Personally I like the Wii U Daily all one gray/white colour. The site already has enough blue in my opinion. If they wanted they could change the logo to feature a special game article i.e. ZombiU where the Wii U logo in the main page is the same colour as the U in ZombiU or with a Mario hat on the U to indicate a Mario article etc.

I agree that the search bar is better placed up on the top of the site.

“””* Above the Wii U DAILY logo and the tabs, could you add something there. Maybe an ad or something.”””

There already is an Ad there.
If your using Firefox or Google Chrome and you have installed Addblock+ then there is going to be spaces everywhere an Ad is supposed to be.

  • Nintengoth

Wow! awesome work guys! thanking you for all your work 🙂
