With all the emphasis placed on every day objects being hackable and controllable by the player, it’s interesting that Watch Dogs itself may feature mobile compatibility. Senior producer Dominic Guay has stated that players will be able to use their mobile devices to connect to the game in some form. This type of connection is supposed to make it feel as though the player is participating in the game with other players to make the game feel more connected than before. Guay’s statement is as follows: “We wanted the player to be able to connect to Watch Dogs even through his mobile. Be able to play directly with people who are on their console, who are on their PlayStation 4, even if he’s on the bus. Basically to be attached to our game world even when he steps out of the living room.” This will definitely be an interesting approach if it’s executed properly, but there could be a few hiccups for players. For example, Injustice currently has an iOS-only app available to unlock things within the game, which leaves out those running Android and Windows Phone. If Ubisoft truly wants to make sure players feel connected to their game, they’ll make sure their mobile integration is platform agnostic as well. Wii U gamepad is already enough for me, we don’t need smart phones brought into this. Guest Its called expanding value…. Its not any one thing that makes the machine attractive, its multiple things being added to the system that add up to value. I’m digging this move.. I’m curious the different applications devs might come up with to do with the gamepad…. Look at what Nintendo did just messing around with video (the panaroma stuff is actually quite cool) Just having apps that show something interesting off will spread by word of mouth, as people show more people different things the device can do… adding more software is only going to help the system. You are acting like Nintendo is taking a break from making AAA games to do this stuff.. They literally have thousands of devs, and they can pull off 10 or so to do stuff like this, or the OS update. Tecpedz94 I agree, i mean it might be a cool feature but i dont care much for my phone and nor would i use the feature if it was available…. Chris Bingham I think he is only talking about the PS4′s feature to actually play your PS4 games on the go when the PS4 is on sleep mode, I don’t think this feature will be in any over console apart from the PS4. Ashley King It’s possible. We’ll have to wait and see when the game is out. kutral i dont think so, i believe he means an App that can connect with users, maybe a minigame to acquire some information or virtual cash for the game. Maybe you can hack from your cellphone, but play the game from it. I doubt it Chris Bingham Sony actually confirmed that you can Play full length games on your Tablet or Smartphone so I think they do mean by the PS4 only and not really the other consoles. Wayne Beck Sony was speaking of Indies and old games. Even using Gaikai, a tablet would be impossible for playing PS4 games. That said, Gaikai is simplly an over the Web version of the technology Nintendo is using to stream the Video/Input Feeds to and from the Gamepad. Unfortunately, as Nintendo probablly realized, there is a noticeable lag when you stream over the internet instead of directly through the air. If Nintendo wanted to add the Streaming feature, they could likely do it with ease. kutral yes, i know. But the gameplay or the controls will be ackwards, to challenging and forgettable in my opinion. I really see more possible and more acceptable for the audience or gamers an app/minigame for the cellphone/tablet. Maybe on Vita, but that will be too expensive. kutral i was replyng to Chris xD Down votes haha CyanideInsanity I myself can’t think of anything too interesting to do with it, but if Ubi can, great. Jedi Russ Yes there will be apps that link to the game. Also play the full ps4 version on phone or tablet with ps4 controller bizzy gie If it is iOS-only, there’s no chance in hell I’m buying an overrated, underpowered fad-of-a-phone iPhone to do so. Chris Bingham I own an iPad Mini and I can safely says that its actually more powerful and is worth the money. Its more powerful than the iPhone 4S and its the most under rated iPad of the bunch. I’d say buy either an iPod Touch 5th Gen or an iPad Mini bizzy gie The iPhone 5, iPod 5th gen, iPad 4th gen, and iPad mini are all more powerful than the 4s and back. The matter is that with phones like the SGS4 out, I’d hate to have to buy (for the same price) such a primitive device just use this feature. I don’t know how Apple has stronger app support when more people use Android. I guess it’s because all their systems are unified given their music players, smartphones, and tablets all run on the exact same hardware and software. Oh and I wouldn’t say the iPad Mini is that underrated. Many people talk about how they gave up their 4th or 3rd gen for this iPad due to easier portability and how they use it much more often. 🙂 Potemkin This or have it exclusively for their line of phones (Experia Z and so on), because if it is like that I won’t be using that feature at all.
