EA’s Need For Speed Most Wanted U is pretty much the only real racing game on the Wii U at the moment (until we get Project CARS). Need For Speed Most Wanted U hits the store shelves today in North America, and so far reception of the game has been pretty good. We recently reported that Need For Speed Most Wanted U will not be getting any future DLC, unlike other platforms. While this is bad news, at least we’ve got one racing game on the platform…

We’ve got a ton of Wii U footage from Need For Speed Most Wanted U — well over an hour of racing. Check it out and let us know your first impressions of the game. And whether you’re thinking of getting it for your Wii U.

hits store shelves today? it came out earlier this week…

    • this guys from this site post wrong information all the time, this is nothing… btw it has a chance of getting DLC if it sells well, as an EA person said in public.

      • Joel

        Too bad that’s highly unlikely.

        • uPadWatcher

You never know. So far, Most Wanted U have been giving some 9s and one low score. There is still hope for Wii U buyers (and some who are hardcore racing fans) to purchase the definitive NFS title.

          • sithWiiU

You really think people are to buy a Wii U for a 3rd party game? Nintendrones, their logic is so twisted.

          • gobrowniesgo

you probably bought a ps3 n pre ordered a ps4 for 3rd party games b/c they only have maybe 5 exclusives so whats your point?

  • uPadWatcher

It’s a good thing that I’ve ordered NFS: Most Wanted U from the Origin Store before the 50% discount have expired this afternoon. Not only that, my nephew is already excited as much as I am.

  • Barters

Preordered and got on release day. Great game, though takes a bit to get used to. But I’m thinking flying through a city at 200kmh+ should take some getting used to.

  • tooby77

Iam impressed. Drove around and played for 2h last night just smiling. Logged my origin account and smiled even more, it worked. EA and Wii U worked together. On my way home after a drunken party thinking. “I wanna drive a bit, in this state of mind”

My mini review and brake down for Need for speed most wanted U

GAMEPLAY – An awesome open world racing game with a lot do and it’s very challenging with great online. Though the lack of anlog triggers may be an issue to some , it’s not hard to get used to – 8.5/10

SOUND – The grunts of the cars are authentic enough and satisfying , the soundtrack has a good amount of tunes and some good ones too! The police radio coming through the gamepad speakers is extremely cool – 9/10

GRAPHICS – The inclusion of the high end PC assets is clear to see , with high resolution textures everywhere that are unseen on other consoles. The lighting (especially at night time) is top notch too. The framerate is a rock solid 30FPS with no dips at all. My only problem with the otherwise sublime graphics is the low resolution with no AA. It seems to match the SUB HD resolution of previous gen consoles version of NFSMW though…-8.5/10

MULTIPLAYER – Online multiplayer works perfectly and is incredibly easy to jump into with Voice chat at the ready. What EA dubbed as ”father and son mode” is incredibly intuitive and enjoyable – ”fix my car , turn the traffic off and crash the police please mate , thanks….” 9.5/10

LASTING APPEAL – I’ve not scratched the surface here , but there seems to be an extremely large amount of single player content (including the ulitmate speed pack DLC) and awesome online – N/A

Overall – This is definitely worth your money and fills a gaping hole in the Wiiu library which is of course a realistic racing game. The graphical improvements are more than welcome as are cool wiiu features such as father and son mode and off screen play

    – 8.875/10

That’s right folks , an 8.875 😉 hope you enjoyed my mini review of NFSMW U and my ridiculous final score.

    • uPadWatcher

Great review, Nintedward. I like your review!

    • LopsidedPasta

See, this is why Nintendo needs EA. These kinds of games. Otherwise, *Shows image of The Walking Dead Survival Instinct, woman screams*

      • Nintedward

lol. my review of the Walking dead survival instinct

        – Not played it , would rather eat a piece of white dog shit – 1/10 🙂

        • ICHI

Did white dog shit stop being made in the 80’s!?!?!

          • Nintedward

The last time I remember seeing some was on the film Step brothers 🙂 . What a film!

      • NkoSekirei

we dont need EA shoving origin down our throats and try to take control over nintendo network which nintendo is handling pretty fine

        • bizzy gie

So did EA try and make Microsoft and Sony run Origin on their consoles? If so, then did they throw this much of a tantrum or hust let it go? Or did they not even hassle the two other companies? Either way it’s not fair. Glad we’re getting a Presindent/CEO/BossMan/whoever’s leaving.

        • NFS games get very dull after a while. This is why I prefer racing in GTA as you can do so much more. I just hope that in GTA V online, they do not have the only racing game be with the turbo boost feature. Just keep it straight.

        • LopsidedPasta

Where did EA say “uh, yeah, we’ll be undergoing a hostile takeover of Nintendo’s NN”? If you don’t like a game, don’t buy it, but you won’t have the good games either if you ban them altogether.

      • Mauricio Guaura

“See, this is why Nintendo needs EA. These kinds of games”

Sadly this is like, the only good recent EA game.

        • mikel334u2

Crysis 3 isn’t too bad. It received mostly positive reviews and would nicely show off the Wii U’s graphical capabilities, if only EA released it. Also, Dead Space 3 is a great and horrifying experience, as I have played it myself.

    • tooby77

Big smile. I didnt really understood the chat. I lowered music and tweeked mic bla bla. I couldny hear anyone even when i say all spoke. Will try it again a few min. Not the straitest road home now. 🙂

      • Nintedward

I like your stack of wiiu games profile pic. What wiiu games do you have ?

        My NNID is – xNintedwardx

    • D.M.T

Lack of digital triggers? You mean lack of analog triggers lol. Analog is better for racing games and Wii U’s controllers don’t have analog.

      • Nintedward

        Yeah , that’s what I meant… my bad 🙂

      • So you want to drive slowly in a game designed for racing?

        o…kay .-.

        • D.M.T

I didnt say that. Dont put words in my mouth

        • xdlugia

If you’ve ever driven a car in real life, you would understand why analog triggers are better for racing games.

  • D.M.T

Guys help me!!! I can only buy 1 game this month but which one should I buy? Lego City Undercover or Most Wanted U?

-The reason I want Lego City is because I like sandbox-style games. I like GTA and I enjoyed Saints Row 2 as well. I’m pretty sure I will like Lego City.

-The reason I want Most Wanted U is because I like realistic racing games. I’m impressed with Most Wanted U and I want it really bad.

I want both really bad but I can only buy 1 now. Most Wanted is already in stores while Lego City comes out in 6 days here in Europe. So which one??

    • kicker2222

get lego city it has more replay value and it’s cheaper at 50$

      • RyuNoHadouken

i bought lego City too!!! I love it!! I also got NFS off Origins site for $30…you might wanna check it out

    • uPadWatcher

That’s a real tough decision. LEGO City and Most Wanted U. Both are fun games and extremely difficult to put down your Game Pad. Now that the Origin’s 50% offer have been expired, I would pick LEGO City Undercover.

    • Need for Speed is on sale for $30 on the origin website.

      • D.M.T

I didn’t ask how much it costs. And I prefer a physical copy. Answer the question next time please. Price is not an issue, the problem is that i can only buy 1 game.

        • Dylan Groot

I thought it was a legitimate suggestion. What else should we think but that it’s a money issue for you when you say you can only buy 1 game? No need to get harsh.

          • D.M.T

A $60 dollar game is still cheaper than buying 2 games. I just wanna know which one i should buy first. Sorry if i sounded harsh.

        • dgallo911

so price isnt the issue but u can only afford 1 game?? your getting dumber by the day…..
for wat its worth id get most wanted tho cause at least its got multiplayer

          • D.M.T

Says the guy who can’t spell ‘dumber’. You don’t even know why i can’t buy both games so shut the fuck up. And your opinion is irrelevant, I was asking Nintendo fans, not trolls and haters like you

          • dgallo911

let me guess, mummy will only buy 1 gane for u lol. U might consider me a troll but i got a wii u collecting dust because nintendo arnt doing their job simply because of cockheads like yaself keep telling them how happy u r with their system

          • Perkoff

I think I know why, your parents will only let you get 1 game for some reason.

          • D.M.T

I dont live with my parents and i am an adult. Please stop trying to find out why. Just answer the question

          • Perkoff

            TROLL ALERT!

        • The sale on the Origin website was for the physical copy, I bought it a couple days ago and it shipped out yesterday.

          • RyuNoHadouken

me too! tracking number says it wont be here until Wednesday though…bummer 🙁

        • ICHI

I would and did buy NFS, apparently Lego is sandbox but missions take place in set areas. NFS is a sandbox game too, I can see a car I can jack on top of a building and trying to get there is a good laugh. You can just cruise around finding billboards to break or speed cameras to set high speed scores for your friends to try and beat. Online is like burnout paradise, dynamic missions in which one second you could be racing to a parking garage to meet up in SUV’s and the next you’ll be competing for most near misses while skidding around a hairpin.

      • Zorlac79

I got excited at first, but it is stil $60 for the wii U version. Guess I missed the sale. 🙁

      • DESS_M_8

As far as I can see the sale did not cover the Wii U format

        • Clearly it did, at least for a day or so. A few of us here at least got in on the deal. I think the $29.99 price wasn’t supposed to last long.

          • Clearly, huh? Because clearly there is no sale on wii u games on the origin website. that is what is crystal…

        • For sure, just went to buy it and they have games on sale for every system but wii u. which does not surprise me.

      • No it isn’t. I just went to buy it and there is nothing there. I was going to buy it, now I am not… fuck criterion and fuck ea.

    • I would suggest you look at the videos for both games, read up on them and make your own decision, just ask your self which one you think you will have the most fun with and just get it, in the end it’s your own decision.

    • Lego city gives you huge bang for your buck.

  • tronic307

Looks like a Burnout game, which is good.

    • dubYA

Makes sense considering it’s from the same developer.

      • tooby77

        True that is. 🙂

  • Johny

i think we should support the devs and therefore the game, because the devs made an AWESOME job with it… they showed great support and put quite some effort into making this game better looking, better and added features and so a better game… i thought i wouldnt EVEN THINK about getting the game becuse…well we hate EA… but now the head of EA has been replaced, so im giving it another chance..

  • DemonRoach

Got it for 30 bucks from origin sale, waiting for it to come in the mail…

    • RyuNoHadouken

me too…my UPS tracking number has an ETA for this Wednesday tho 🙁

      • Friedrich

        Same. 🙁

        • RyuNoHadouken

i got mine in the mail today…havent opened it yet though…im trying to finish Tomb Raider before I start something else…those damn GPS caches are hard to find!!!! lol

  • david daniel wharton camacho

add me and msg me on miiverse so i can add you!

  • david jarman

Uhm…. I picked mine up on Tuesday 3/19??? Of course I pre-ordered mine. The game is awesome!!!!!

  • Focal1

Graphics…anyone? No? rly? “c what I did there”

    • gobrowniesgo

      lt’s worth every penny!

    • gobrowniesgo

lt looks awesome, don’t get me wrong. But the more l play it the better it looks. l’m good with the handling too. Not too easy not too hard. There is a learning curve though..

  • Chiwawa

im totally getting this…. at least after my wallet recovers from LCU and MH3.

  • tooby77

Nintenward, i. Cant click reply to u, so i have to wright here instead. Here is a link to my games
Getting lego when it comes out

    • Nintedward

      Nice! 🙂

  • DESS_M_8

While i agree with giving this game a strong score, it is very VERY impressive, I only have two issues.

    A) this game has amazing anti aliasing, it was the first thing I noticed graphically. It is probably the best looking game on Wii U so far.

    B) I would like to bet that this game ends up getting DLC and getting it sooner than you think. The thing that will decide whether they actually don’t release any is if this game sells poorly unit wise, if it has a good sized customer base, they’ll release the content. Saying they won’t release any will be a standard financial strategy on any game on any console, it’s just the PS3 and 360 user base is so high now that they don’t need to consider that anymore. However as this is the first good quality Triple A title to be released in several months on a console where users are starving for games, nevermind AAA games, more people will buy this game than if it was released a year from now.
I own a PS3, I liked the demo for this game but never bought it. It came out at midnight on thursday for Wii U and I stumped up £44.99 the second it was released, I imagine a LOT of Wii U gamers did the same.
The user base is relatively low at the moment, but I bet a high percentage of the users buy this game which will result in a strong enough sale to warrant releasing the DLC.

    Trust me, watch and see.

    • Nintedward

I think the AA and resolution looks a little jagged in the day time. But at night time something just clicks and it looks like a PC game 🙂

    • Sean Currell

same here i have NEVER bought a full price game digitally before but as soon as nfsmwu went on sale on the store i bought it. had a spare 8gig stick so figured id put it to some use. enjoying this game more than forza horizen. very happy with my purchase and glad to support nintendos new console and the developers of the game.

  • Perkoff

The article says the game comes out today(date of article March 22nd) but I saw it at Best Buy on the 20th when I went to pick up Lego City Undercover. Wonder if Best Buy mistakenly was selling it early. I’m waiting to get my copy in the mail $29.99 orgin deal.

  • this game actually got better scores on the Wii U than on PS360 and PC… wow… I love it when we Wii U owners actually gets the better games :3

  • Gabe Hoffman

Man I haven’t played a NFS game since Hot Pursuit on Gamecube. I plan on buying to support Criterion. Every person who purchase of this game means a better chance of Wii U getting the rest of the DLC

  • HMV selling elite with zombii u and nintendo land for £199.

  • Final got the game installed and my thoughts so far….. awesome sauce… that is all.

  • I used to think it was half-way decent, now I see that it sucks. It’s shame when racing and realism of racing is better on a game that is not even about racing – GTA4! The textures look good, only because of tessellation.

  • Leave a message…bought today on e shop

  • disqus_eSTpjKcAO6

I’m just peeved at the moment non of my gaming stores even had this in stock or even new it had been released! When I also asked for MH3U I got told they have only received 7 copies (7 copies wtf) they all sold out… Not sure what an earth is going on in the UK sad times

    • or you could… download the games on your console

  • Game is fantastic fun great online – could not care less about DLC

  • tooby77

    Ooops. 🙂

  • TheBoldman67

Actually they said they would release DLC if there’s enough sales…
