If ZombiU hasn’t zombied you out, then March 26th is a date to mark on your calendars. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct first person shooter will make its way onto Wii U, along with PS3 Xbox 360 and PC versions. It’s worth noting that the March 26th date is the North American release date; Europeans can expect the game to be available for them on March 29th. Developer Terminal Reality has spoken specifically about the Wii U edition, saying the game is meant to be augmented rather than altered. This comes in the form of more streamlined inventory management using the Wii U GamePad.

“We didn’t want to change the game because the game had already been established, so we tried to say ‘What can we augment with the Wii U version?’ That’s where it’s basically a more elegant inventory management system. With the Wii U you have access to your backpack at all times, so you can tag what weapons you want, you can drop stuff. It’s a lot more streamlined.”

This is the exact same sort of inventory management we saw in ZombiU, were players used the GamePad to sort through their backpacks and drop any unnecessary items. It adds an extra level of tension to the game to look away to manage your inventory, so hopefully Terminal Reality gets this right just as Ubisoft did. Are you excited about this release? This is really good news, isn’t this the game that was voted game of the year for 2012?

    • Great news indeed. I am glad the Wii U is getting a quality 3rd party game. This is not the same game that won game of the year. The Walking Dead game that won game of the year is a story driven game and not a FPS like this one.

      • Ashman97

“I am glad the Wii U is getting a quality 3rd party game” your words exactly are you talking about rayman legends maybe bayonetta 2 because if your talking about this you need to see footage I’m not trying to insult you but I can’t take what your saying seriously after seeing footage

        • I am talking about Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 6, Bioshock Infinite, and Grand Theft Auto. Those are above and beyond Rayman.

          • Laud

What? You weren’t talking about those games in your previous comment you liar.

          • Nintendofreak

resident evil has betrayed its roots as a survival game, bioshock well i get it, n gta well i get it also but come on ur calling a game designed to live on d popularity from a show a good 3rd party game is like saying dat samus is a dude

          • Marcell Wade

            Rayman might surprise you sir.

    • tomtank91

no, the walking dead that was 2012 game of the year was made by Telltale games, Telltale made Sam&Max and Back to theFuture.

  • Looks interesting so far. Need to hear and see more on this game before I make a decision.

  • Andrew Gonzalez

    Looking forward to it

  • Wayne Beck

Glad to see more support from Devs and I love this show. I just hope it doesn’t fall in to the category of lame attempt to profit off popularity and is actually a real game that is both fun and challenging.

You know this was Beta form right…

      • Laud

Betas = not far from finished product you know this, right?

    • Jason Carroll

Lol, look at the blood that appears on the screen when you stab a zombie…I hope that is not the final product.

    • bizzy gie

      It’s not finished.

    • Captain Falcon

I thought Nintendo fans didn’t care about graphics? Whoopty fucking doo. Oh, and that “trailer” was confirmed to be fake. The game is still in beta form.

      • Captain Falcon

It’s not that the graphics are horrendous. They’re great for the most part. It’s just Activision is developing it. yaay :L

        • Publishing it, Activision are the publishers meaning the game is not being touched by their shitty covered fingers

          • Captain Falcon

            My mistake

    • You have to admit though, for a game that HASN’T BEEN FINISHED YET its got some really good animation.

  • Captain Falcon

Absolutely love the show, but this looks mediocre…

  • Awesome i am very happy about this…It’s nice to see a great game like this coming to the wii u

  • Nintendofreak

being completley honest stopped looking at the show cuz got pissed every time at his wife…. and plus i dont know guess lacked mojo for my taste….and about the game well grafich wise  shit, zombiwise shit, action wise shit,,,,but if i had to choose between buying dis or zombiu well ill buy zombieu…yes i know its beta so shut up before u speak not going to buy it i recommend u also dont but if u do just wait a couple of months till its price drops

    • SoulSilverZero

Well if a price drop does occur, I hope that they give us free goodies to those who paid $300-$350 like with the 3DS price drop

      • Dominic Coradazzi

you realize they’re talking about the Walking Dead game right?

        • SoulSilverZero

you realize that i’m trying to reply to this guy right?

  • Nintenjoe82

It doesn’t look as scary as Zombi U

  • Matt Lambourne

That is very early development footage.  The finished game should be much more polished.

I’m a HUGE fan of the show and comics so I’ll pick this up when it comes out.

  • MetroidZero

When I think of The Walking Dead, I think of Lee, Clementine, Ben, Kenny, etc. Yes, I know most of those characters are deceased. No Walking Dead game can beat that. This game obviously is not a continuation of that story line, so I really, REALLY, don’t care….though at the same time it’s good to know that the Wii U is getting Horror games.

  • Bravyoura

At least it looks scarier than Zombi U that game was so booring zzzZZZZZZZZ

    • … Are you fucking serious?…. You find paper cutouts of Zombies with plastic hair and brightly lite areas scary?…. well then you better stay in doors for the rest of your life.

ZombiU was more scary because the Zombie actually are scary and the gameplay felt awesome… this game on the other hand looks like Call of Duty with Zombies as the main focus.

  • AlienFanatic

Inventory management?  Is that the best they can do with the Gamepad?  I swear, the licensees as usual have no idea what to do with Nintendo’s hardware.  They take the laziest, and least creative approaches.

    • audie bowler

the gamepad could be a tactile screen hud and invenory and secobdery view whilst CORRECTLY playing a FPS with a nunchuck and remote LOL @ TWIN STICK FPS OBSOLETE TRASH

      • And yet more people are playing the RIGHT way… playing on a dual analog sticks with CLICKABLE buttons underneath the analogs for their FPS gaming.

Nunchuck and Wii Remote are awful when playing FPS games and its mainly for wimps anyway that can’t aim with a simple analog stick

  • audie bowler

no metion of wii remote and nunchuck support and likely not even included aka 007 wiiu and half assed wii remote cod support activition your outa touch with the wiiu userbase and up to date fps control…

  • audie bowler

the graphics look android-y faked up graphics like tablets to give the impression there better than they really are…

  • GTMacc

with the graphics on show they might as well release it for the N64!, awful looking game so will probably avoid

  • If this game turns out to be a bomb, it’s not the Wii U’s fault….its the company that made it….Activision….they have been pumping out shit for years…..Guitar Hero was okay….but then they kept on and on….Call of Duty was the same way…first one was okay, then they kept on and on…let’s just hope they don’t make 6 or 7 of these games
