Tekken Wii U
The upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U fighting game will have “Nintendo-like” modes, according to Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada. Speaking to GamesRadar, Harada said that while the core gameplay mechanics will be the same as in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, the Wii U version will have features that are tailored to the GamePad tablet controller. This isn’t the first time Harada made comments about the Wii U — earlier this month he claimed that the Wii U CPU is underclocked, and that the Wii U GamePad controller is “distracting” in fighting games.

“There are going to be some modes that will be interesting, because they are very Nintendo like”, Harada said. He added that part of the Nintendo-like game mode was already shown at E3. He explains how at preview event at E3 back in June, players saw a mushroom drop down, which made one of the characters bigger as he ate it (referencing to Super Mario, of course). Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be released this September on the PS3 and Xbox 360, while the Wii U version will launch with the console, most likely in November.

So, are they doing this to get Nintendo fans to buy in? A simple mushroom powerup wont make me buy a fighting game. But I’m sure some people will buy. Then again, I’m not a fan of fighting games besides SSB

    • Britton

Soul Calibur 2 for the GameCube was my favorite fighting game. I also liked Street Fighter and Killer Instinct for the SNES.

    • Non-Specific Action Figure

      Are you a f*ckin troll?
It’s like that because this is a NINTENDO console, just a mushroom?
      Think again Mr.Troll.
PS3/XB360 Will have features tailored to their version.
      Simple mushroom powerup?
No one would have thought of that.

      • swic11

I merely state my opinion and you come at like your God, just shut up.

        • Non-Specific Action Figure

          You shut up

          • James

            …was a horrible comeback.

          • AcesHigh

Dude… really? there was nothing wrong with what swic11 said. He even said he’s a fan of SSBB. He’s just saying throwing a mushroom in the game is a kind of lame way to “Nintendo-ize” a game. And if that’s all there is to it (which is probably not likely), I’d agree with him. And I’m a big Nintendo fan.

            Chill out Jr.

        • Non-Specific Action Figure

Im sorry for what I said,
why do I act like a idiot sometimes?

      • Hamzilla

cool down bro..can’t you take a joke lol..

    • HudgPv247

      Smash Bros isn’t exactly a fighting game…

      • joe

Not for nothing but I played a few fighting games…and SSBB (Wii) is absolutley a fighting game…the “quest” part of the game, (which is so huge, I don’t know how it fit on one disc), may distract that it’s a one on one fighter…but in SSBB, some of the levels play out in a way that it’s a combo, fighter and quest game….kind of new to Nintendo franchises, SSBB is one of the best games I have ever played…it’s actually pretty incredible…

      • Enigmatic

Then what is it? An action game? In a fighting game style?

    • Parker

MANY nintendo fans will buy it, me included i dont kown what make you think it wont get good sales in the Wii U, we all love SSB but we also need this kind of classic fighting games, really.

      • gNat

Personally i thought that the storyline for SSBB sucked. the rest of thbe game was good though.

        • rmn

well, it is kind of hard to make a good story when the only things said are “Great Aether” or “Falcon Punch!” and all the other characters are silent…

        • Anon

Then lets c u make a better story

  • Marcus

well i say that we have to give it a try…besides we dont know if the game may liking to us

  • Nintengoth

Meh i dont give a shit the only fighting games i like are SSB and Mortal Kombat other games just arent much fun.
I wana hear news for SSB WiiU!

  • WiiUoopsSucks

I can’t wait for the Wii U! Awesome!

    • Non-Specific Action Figure

Why do you think WiiUoops sucks?
      He seems cool

      • Non-Specific Action Figure Sucks

He is probably about as far away from cool as humanly possible.

        • Non-Specific Action Figure

Why do you think i suck?

          • The *Real* Non-Specific Action Figure

            😀 Thumbs up*

  • Solphins

As long as I can play the game without it being on the big screen I will be happy.

  • WiiUPlayWithMe:P

Okay, well if they throw in anything Zelda, I will be forced to buy it. Triforce power-up anyone? Master sword bonus weapon? I think I can dig it. Nice to know they’re throwing in some Nintendo elements for the Wii U version

  • Biggy N

It might be a cheap shot but again let see what will be the outcome once the game is out. Hope they make it more fun and creative and I might buy it.

  • ConCity Soldier

Why? That mushroom power up thing is just dumb. Every Nintendo game isn’t Mario or Mario like. F-Zero, Zelda, Metroid, Disaster Day Of Crisis, & Nintendo owns the Zenoblade & the Fatal Frame series now. Mario might be big on Nintendo, but this is like Tekken going to the PS3 & making a Little Big Planet like mode lol. This is dumb smh. A fighting game is supposed to be something serious & fun. I love some of the Mario games, but let Mario be Mario. I want to play a true fighting game. Luckily for me I don’t like Tekken lol, I’m a Street Fighter.

    • Parker

I really would love to see Disaster Day Of Crisis and Fatal Frame, these are the kind of games the Wii U needs.

  • simply the truth

for gods sake he said nothing about a under-clocked cpu,, stop making things up ,he said the clock speed was kinda low in COMPARISON to ps3 x360 theres no evidence of any kind of under-clocking

if anything its clcoked correctly as the cpu family wiiu uses has a clcock of 1.6ghz to 2.0ghz powerpc 32 bit 4xxx series

  • Joyous Killer

If their going to whine and hate on nintendo, just dont make the game then! Im not buying At ALL! I rather control an army of Pikmin or save Princess Peach again then play this -_-

  • Jonas

that wont make me buy this game i already got a bunch i will get at launch.

  • Hi8us

He just said it would have nintendo-like modes. Kind of like the final fight style side scrolling beat ’em up and volley ball modes in tekken 3. It has nothing to do with the main arcade and vs modes. I’m interested in seeing what they thought up for the bonus modes.

  • booss

simply the truth ;xenoblade not zenoblade

    • ConCity Soldier

Haha, right. 🙂 That was me who typed Zenoblade, I meant to put Xenoblade.

  • BaconNinja

What will make the game awesome is if they add a unlockable Nintendo character.

    • kirbymon123

but then it wouldn’t really be Tekken anymore, would it? It’d still be cool though, even though i’m not getting the game..

      • swic11

Throwing anything Nintendo into a Tekken game would make it not Tekken anymore lol.

    • Gamecube forever

You are genius that would be awesome just like soul calibur 2

  • Gamer

Kings combos on a Nintendo system. Some one pinch me and tell me am dreaming :). Are you serious Zelda and metroid fans above. It’s Tekken on a Nintendo home console, Jin Kazama and LEI wu Lang on a 1080P resolution 60 frames per second marvelous machine and you are worried the green Warrior Link or the blonde beauty SAMUS are missing. We are all Nintendo fans, but METROID and ZELDA fans might need Jesus to heal their minds. My goodness lol.

  • Elcaras1

Guys chill if you like games good if not cool there plenty of other games. Im glad they took the time to add a little extra for nintendos version that will appeal to fans of nintendo while leaving the same hard core stuff for the series fans is a win win for me I love tekken and I will love it more in my wiiU!!!!

  • Maverick-Hunter

Well as long as the mushroom power up isn’t a taunt

For example; Jin gets the mushroom and turns giant, does the fight continue as a normal fight only I’m giant he isn’t lol.

If the fight goes as my example states I’ll defiantly buy this game 🙂

  • Albinopig

    “The WiiU’s CPU is underclocked”
“The Wii U’s GamePad is distracting”
    and now…
“Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has Nintendo exclusive modes!”
Yes, because you obviously love the Wii U and it’s GamePad so much…

  • Cryojin

    A Yoshi skin for Alex.

….. Bowser skin for True Ogre.

….. Capt Falcon skin for Paul Phoenix?
