May 22nd, 2014

If you’re not going to E3 this year because you don’t live near Los Angeles, Nintendo has a contest that could get you there. They’re currently running the Super Smash Bros. People’s Challenger Contest, which will allow you to visit Los Angeles during E3 and take part in the first Super Smash Bros. invitational against the winner of said championship.

All you have to do is upload a video of why you deserve to win and have a chance at fighting the winner of the tournament. There are specific rules for the contest, so you’ll want to read through them if you want to participate. Chief among the rules is that you’ll need to be 18 or older, as well as live in the United States in order to participate.

Winners will be selected on May 27, 2014.

Will you be entering the contest?

I can’t enter simply because even if I were to win, I couldn’t get the time off with that short of notice.

    • mojack411

Same here. Can’t just up and leave my job like that. Not like I would win anyways. Good luck to those who try.

      • Michael Hancock

Yeah, I’ve got bills and shit.

  • “Sean” jjbredesen

Aw…you have to live in the US :/ *cries

Well since i can’t enter, good luck to all of you that can! Only 18 days, 21 hours, and 20min left!

    • J_Joestar

      *checks rules*
Sweet, Canada is still good (as long as you aren’t in Quebec).

      • The Clockwork Being

This is great for us Canadians. This probably means that just like last year we will get that E3 events at our Best Buys. But except this year will be the Smash Fest at Best Buy!

      • “Sean” jjbredesen

Great for you guys :D, but last time i checked Norway was not part of the US or Canada, so i guess i still can’t enter…

        • J_Joestar

sorry, didn’t know where you were from. Just assumed it was on the continent.

      • Nicolas Dorion

“(as long as you aren’t in Quebec)”

    • The Clockwork Being

I was reading this with a smile since I thought they would also include us Canadians in the deal but it seems that isn’t the case sadly.

Edit: Just saw J_Joestar’s comment! Seems like we are good to go!

      • “Sean” jjbredesen

        Yay, great for you guys!

        • The Clockwork Being

Just read the thing again and wow just wow. Today on 22nd is my 17th birthday and not my 18th sadly…

          • “Sean” jjbredesen

Aw, well that sucks :/ but HAPPY BDAY ๐Ÿ˜€

  • RockieOllie
  • Phoenix Maybe

    I would enter but
    1) E3 is filled with long lines to do anything
    2) I’d get creamed in the first round of the tournament.

    • The Clockwork Being

No items, 5 stocks, Final Destination, Fox vs Fox. Those are the rules! FIGHT!!

  • Officer Raichu

i cant enter since im not 18 D:

    • The Clockwork Being

I just turned 17th today on May 22nd just wish it was my 18th birthday

      • Officer Raichu

yeah being 14 doesnt help -_-

  • Officer Raichu

Godzilla boosted Mario Kart 8 preorders!
it now has 230000 preorders in US alone and gained almost 60000 godzilla opening week
now nuff said that this advertising isnt working

    • abe

Damn! I would imagine that’s just at Amazon aswell

      • Officer Raichu

yeah I just checked vgchartz for May 17th preorders and when I saw mario karts I went O_O

      • Officer Raichu

add to that mk8 and get this hyrule warriers are both the top 2 in amazon japan(hyrule warriers took 1 day to get to number 1 O_O)
wii u might have a huge summer in japan with
hyrule warriers,mk8,bayo 2, and retail release of wii sports club

        • abe

The better it dose in Japan the better game they get and the more games Nintendo will pay to localised. We got bravely default and project x zone thanks to that.

Would like if they localized the Yakuza HD and other gems

          • Officer Raichu

i would love more localization of japanese games

          • abe

Yeah i f the Wii u gets a rep for getting Japanese games then it’ll get a cult status like the ps3/psp did and then. Once sales pick up third parties will want to exploit that crowd… So more games

          • Officer Raichu

            yes ๐Ÿ˜€

    • The Clockwork Being

Hopefully all goes well. I have went on youtube without the adblock on and all I see are Mario Kart 8 ads. Honestly Nintendo I hope nothing but good sales for Mario Kart!

  • AWESOME! Until I read step 3 >_<

  • WiiUPS4

Im already going so good luck to the one who get’s picked ..Im hoping that zorpix get’s picked if he enters…E3 for zorpix 2014…:)

  • Stephen

I turn 18 a couple of weeks after E3, heh. Otherwise, I’d be all over this.

I’ll just keep training and try to go to one of the Smash events this year or next year, I guess.

    • David Noble

Considering Mario Kart 8 has online tournaments, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some for Smash Bros. either. Crossing my fingers…

  • Shaqfu2

I would enter. But on a scale of 1-10 about my creativty. I’m probably about a -5. I got ideas but I’m poor as dirt. So I can’t execute a video.

  • Damn me and my Canadian-ness

    • “Sean” jjbredesen

      You can enter ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Rinslowe

Nintendo’s doing a few things right lately. I expect it’s a seasonal thing though, but hey. Great.

  • Alexander Kleinwechter

So if i live in sweden, i cant go to e3 or enter, and we dont have best buy in sweden. cant we just get a demo on eshop
