Mimicking their playable demos at Best Buy during the week of E3 last year, Nintendo has announced that Super Smash Bros. will be playable at hundreds of Best Buy locations across the country during the week of E3. This new promotion is called the Super Smash Bros. Smash-Fest and will take place from June 11 4pm – 9 pm and June 14 from 12pm to 5pm. The first 70 people who pre-order either Super Smash Bros. for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS from a participating location will receive a Super Smash Bros. golden coin. Pre-orders will also receive a $5 Best Buy Reward Zone at the game’s launch.

The Smash-Fest event is happening in 37 states across America, so be sure and check Best Buy’s website to find a location near you. You’ll need to bring your best game, since you’ll be playing against three other Smash fans in the four person demo that will be available.

Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS is scheduled to be released this summer, while the Wii U version of the game will be coming in the winter.

Pretty cool. Hopefully they will have a demo of X as well.

    • Virus6

It’s Smash only. They won’t have anything else.

The first 70 people that order from where? What is “Their location”? Are you talking about each individual best buy?

    • Yes.

      • Adrian

Where are the official rules for this? Aren’t pre-orders already open?

        • This applies specifically to this event. Those in attendance will receive the golden coin at pre-order time.

  • darkcreap

Great marketing!!!! Too bad I don’t live in the USA…

  • Target has MK8 playable demos in stores now!

  • Ace J

YES!!!! nintendo finally choose the best buy in my city to host this event.

      • Lucky U sounds like a Poker eShop title ;D

        • nin-10-doughfan

    • “Sean” jjbredesen

If only i lived in the US πŸ™

      Well enjoy, hope its great!

HOW ABOUT THE COMPETITION RESULTS!! I AM DYING TO KNOW. (whoops my caps lock was on) Please be me, Please be me, Please not another sean.

    • I have to wait for Rob to choose the winner and yesterday was a holiday here in the States. Patience, young padawan.

      • Suraj Alexander

LOL, yh it was holiday here in uk as well, you must forgive my impatience but i am damn excited for this game.

P.S watch dogs wii u has been listed for spring 2014 release date in the uk ubi website

        • darkcreap

It has to be an error, you know, they delayed the game to a later point in 2014.

          • Suraj Alexander

i don’t think they would delay the game that long, they would kill the hype and the sales of the game.

          • 00EpicGamer00

Honestly, what hype is left for the Wii U version? I don’t think anyone is just going to sit and wait for a game they can already play on a different console. The way I see it, people will most likely buy the PlayStation and Xbox versions first, then they’ll buy the Wii U version at a later date, if it’s worth investing in of course. But really the only thing Ubisoft could do with the gamepad is have it be used as the phone. I mean, come on, isn’t that a little too obvious? I’m sure they’ll do SOMETHING else. But for right now…that isn’t really creative thinking.

          • Christian Schoff

I am because not all of us can be Mr. Moneybags. So the hype for the Wii U version is that those of us who wait get the best version and probably the DLC or something as compensation for waiting.

          • greengecko007

If the integration of gamepad features makes the Wii U version the best version for you then great, but getting DLC just because the game was delayed is wishful thinking. Ubisoft has already shown that their priorities are not Wii U owners, not that I blame them for that.

          • greengecko007

My only current generation console at the moment is the Wii U, and although I could get Watch Dogs for the PS3 or 360, I’m perfectly fine with waiting to get the Wii U version. By the time it comes out I may be ready to put Mario Kart 8 aside for a little while.

But I do agree that the hype for the Wii U version is nonexistant. How can there be hype for a game when we don’t have any clue as to when it’s coming out?

  • HungryMetroid

of course all the ones in my state are hours away πŸ™

    • Virus6

Same thing with me in Michigan. All three stores are in Detroit. Two of those stores are located in a town with 1/3 of the population of my city on the West side

      • Mr. Obvious

Same here, Live near Grand Rapids and I really don’t or possible even can’t drive 3-4 hours to do this…

  • Suraj Alexander

P.S watch dogs wii u has been listed for spring 2014 release date in the uk ubi website

    • Bought it on Steam last night, its meh so far.

    • Thomas Vienna

That’s gotta be a mistake. Watch Dogs came out for other systems just today, and Spring is nearly over. Summer officially begins less than a month away. There’s no way they delayed the Wii U version just to work on it for a few weeks.

  • Wooopigsooie

Well this sucks! No love for Arkansas… πŸ™

  • 00EpicGamer00

Why can’t Nintendo just put the demos on the e-shop? Like, they could put the demos on there after the Best Buy event is over. And it’d only be there for a limited time. It’s not that I don’t have a Best Buy here, nor is it long to drive to. Just imagining all the people there, lol. I’d get trampled to death before I even get to the door.

    • Virus6

I’m in the same boat -_-

    • lonewolf88

finally this year its in my city I guess nintendo noticed how much we support them here πŸ˜›

  • That guy who hates Spike

    Any news for Canadian locations?

    • Nope, we don’t get it cause Nintendo has no interest in Canada.

      • That guy who hates Spike

And yet, last Saturday, I was able to play Mario Kart 8 at my local Best Buy, because of a demo event.

        • I haven’t had anything special from Nintendo, no pre-order bonuses, no demo’s no nothing since MK7 Keychains. That was what? November 2012?

          • That guy who hates Spike

Pre Order Mario Kart 8 at EB Games for a poster

            When I bought X and Y at launch, I got 2 posters

If you pre ordered Link Between Worlds at Best Buy, you could’ve got a Zelda musical chest

Last year when I went to the Best Buy E3 event I got products that were only given in Canada (as far as I know anyways). Including a cool Animal Crossing 3DS Decal, a Luigi hat, and a Mario Kart flag

One of the best I remember was when I pre ordered Kid Icarus Uprising at Best Buy and got special Idol Cards.

Plus the Wii Mini was once-exclusive in Canada

By the way: You should probably check this out.

Don’t say Nintendo doesn’t treat you in a poor manor.

          • I did pre-order MK8 at EB Games, I got nothing.
I did get that PokΓ©mon Poster now that I think about it.
            Got ALBW at EB Games.
My Best Buy last E3 did NOTHING.
            Kid Icarus got me nothing.
            Wii Mini was a joke.
Yes Nintendo treats us like shit.

  • steveb944

First 70 people, considering I live in a major area I doubt I’ll be able to get one of the limited coins. It’d be good to actually see what it looks like as well.

    Worth a shot regardless

  • Virus6

Heh… nearest store is nearly 5 or so hours away. Why can’t they release a limited demo on the eshop? Just a couple characters and only allow it to be used for like… 10 times.

  • And Canada misses out, you really are going to let the Xbox One beat you In Canada Nintendo? That’s just a bit sad.

  • Josiah Parsons

I keep forgetting that E3 is SUPER CLOSE!

    • 00EpicGamer00

I think there’s only 13 days left. That is, if E3 is on June 9th.

I’m excited. I’m ready to be crowned king of Smash Bros.

Also, I want to see more final smashes.

    Giga Peach, anyone?

    • uPadWatcher

You forgot to add, “BELIEVE IT!” I kid, Shane.

  • InterTreble

It’s all about games. Nintendo is more than alive! πŸ˜‰

  • BGhp

Wow Nintendo you couldn’t pick Orlando or Miami.

  • WiiUPS4

Im going to E3 this year so i hope all you get to go to the best buy thing and you will like

    • Marioman21

Lucky you get to go to E3 I plan on trying to make it in a couple of years.

      • WiiUPS4

This will be my first and i think it will be cool

    Not available in my state.

  • SuperSavior

Gimme my preorder money back gamestop!

  • The Clockwork Being

Nintendo manages to screw over Canada. Come Nintendo bring the event over here.

  • Mike

I just realized this isn’t coming to canada…

  • Thomas Vienna

Lol, this was announced in the E3 Fils-a-mech video weeks ago.

    • sharpshot909

The locations weren’t announced until today.

      • Thomas Vienna

True, I’m just commenting on the main point of the article, that Smash Bros. would be playable at E Best Buy during E3.

  • Marioman21

Last year I made for the one with Donkey Kong, Mario kart, WW HD, and 3D World, but it was a 1.5 hour drive which was worth it This year I got lucky in Ohio they moved it from North Olmsted to Chapel Hill which is only a 10 minute drive form my house

  • Dang it Nintendo! Another 100 hours of my life will be wasted on this game. Stop making such good games!
