Yesterday Amazon France let the cat out of the bag so to speak, as a listing for Splinter Cell: Blacklist for Wii U showed up on their website. Ubisoft have decided to stop beating around the bush by announcing the game for Wii U specifically, releasing the above image to show one of the game’s GamePad functions.

Those familiar with the Splinter Cell series will instantly recognize the snake cam attachment, a tool Sam Fisher can use below doors to check and see if anyone is waiting to greet him before he breaches a room. It can also be used to listen to conversations.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be released on August 20 in the United States and August 22 in Europe.

”Wiiu has no gamez and it’s wekaer than PS3” lol . How %$Β£ing stupid those trolls look now.

    • D.M.T

Trust me, some gamers still believe its weaker than PS3. Some of them are PC gamers who dont believe that Nintendo consoles are capable of amazing graphics.

      • Sidney Majurie

Even though, N64 and Gamecube were more powerful than PS1 and PS2. Yes they are idiots πŸ™‚

  • swic11

I’m happy that this game is coming to the U. Now I am waiting for Confirmation that Thief 4 is coming to the U as well!

    • Ducked

I know right, Bat-Man Arkam Orgins, now Blacklist. I wonder where the trolls are at now?

      • Jimmy D. Fugate

I think at least 2 of them got banned.

      • D.M.T

They aren’t here because they are being proved wrong. Wii U has no 3rd party support? Ubisoft says hi. Wii U has no games? Splinter Cell says hi as well

        • Ducked

          Bat-Man said hows arkham?

    • Nintedward

I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Thief 4 is confirmed to be using unprecedented next gen graphics technology in the form of Unreal engine 3 @30 FPS HAHAHAHAHAHAH it was funny because it was sarcastic!

      • Cesar Barroso

you know that XBOX360 and PS3 uses only 20% of what UE3 can accomplish, right?
So, if Wii U can run UE3 to its max, it can beat UE4 on PS4. As simple as that, because it is proved that UE4 won’t run at is max on PS4.

        • Nintedward

Yeah I know. I’m just saying…. People always brag about next gen power and then Thief 4 is confirmed to be using UE3 @30FPS on PS4. Not exactly what people were expecting is it ?

          • Cesar Barroso

oh ok, I did not know that about Thief 4. Well, people have been telling that but gamers did not want to believe it.

          • routerbad

Not at all, not surprising though. UE4 will be UE3+ on PS4, their new workflow will be in, the new rendering functions will not be.

          • D.M.T

Sony fanboys expect too much from the PS4. Some gamer on IGN said that PS4 is “hardcore gamer’s paradise”. I just laughed because this guy expects the PS4 to be on par with PC.

          • Nothing5555

If the dude was really hardcore he would have all the systems (including a gaming PC) and all the games. Hell you aren’t hardcore unless you live and breathe gaming, which in itself is pretty pathetic.

  • Wayne Beck

Looks like they are using the Gamepad right to me. =)

This is going to be the Best Splinter Cell yet.

  • Ducked

I had a feeling this game was coming to Wii U. Thank you ubisoft.

  • Jimmy D. Fugate

Let’s see, Ubisoft is bringing us: AC IV: Black Flag, Rayman Legends, Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell Blacklist. All we need is Rainbow 6 Patriots and ZombiU 2.

    • Wayne Beck

I think they already announced their intent to create a Zombie U sequel.

    • Ducked

ZombiU 2 would be on my wishlist.

      • Jimmy D. Fugate

I NEED a sequel to ZombiU lol

        • D.M.T

For some reason I still haven’t bought ZombiU. Something is stopping me from doing that. I have the demo and i like it but not enough to buy it. I think i’ll end up buying it but i don’t know when.

          • Jimmy D. Fugate

It’s a good return to true survival horror. If you buy it, I encourage you play it at night with the lights off and volume turned up…scared the shite outta me first time I played it.

          • val berger

I had my doubts and maybe t was exactly the same with me. But then Ubisoft sent us a testcopy and I realized I was totally wrong about that game. So as I didn’t buy it like I should have, the least I can do is telling you to do so, as It’s really worth every cent. You really feel, that the devs behind that game loved to create it. It’s not like they were just throwing out a soulless piece of software to make some bucks at the consolelaunch (that’s what I thought) you really get a feeling that they tried to make use of everything the console is offering in a creative and innovative way. not everything works out that good but that doesn’t matter, it ended up to become one hell of a joyride πŸ™‚

        • Levi Johansen

Same thing, but bigger and better – a couple of more multiplayer options and online multiplayer.

Doesn’t really need anything more – they could pull this off rather quickly I think, maybe they already have and are waiting for E3 to announce it.

          • Jimmy D. Fugate

Yes, longer campaign, more melee weapons and more multiplayer, but it’s pretty good in it’s current form.

        • Ducked

          Your not alone

        • val berger

You’ll get it for sure. ZombiU is by far the most successful 3rd party game on the WiiU and Ubisoft did a sequel to Red Steel as well although I dare to doubt, that was nearly as successful as ZombiU was.

          • fireheartis1

Dude ZomieU sounds cool and all, but give me another sequel to Red Steel and I’ll be very happy. I was impressed by both games, even if, Red Steel has some control issues. The game was fun and challenging and I loved that about it. Red Steel 2 would have been better if it had some kind of multiplayer. If they make Red Steel 3 and give it an awesome split screen and online multiplayer the game will sell like hotcakes. I think the 2nd game didn’t sell very well because they took out the multiplayer which was a bad decision. If we get Red Steel 3 with the Cel Shaded graphics of 2 and a great multiplayer I think it would be a system seller for sure.

          • Arthur Jarret

Red steel 1 & 2 are some of the few first person shooters I’ve ever beaten. I think the only others are bioshock, quake 1&2, duke nukem 3d, rise of the triad and doom using ‘idgod’.

I generally dislike 1st person shooters but I loved red steel 2

          • val berger

I didn’t say Red Steel would be bad, but if you’re looking at the hype, ZombiU generated and still generates then you gotta admit, That’s exactly what Red Steel 1 tried to do at the Wii’s launch and just didn’t achieve. It’s not like Red Steel would have been unpopular but ZombiU truly stands out. Of course that’s due to the fact, that it still stands out as one of the few exclusive full featured games available fr the WiiU while Red Steel had games like Zelda the Twilight Princess to compete with. All I’m saying is, that if there was a sequel to Red Steel, then there gotta be a sequel to ZombiU as well.

          • Arthur Jarret

True. Personally: I’m hoping they do both – I like both series

          • val berger

yeah, but honestly I don’t think so. Red Steel was like the optimal solution to demonstrate the Wiis key functionality in an mature appealing environment. ZombiU does the same on the WiiU. Of course this doesn’t really mean, they CAN’T do Red Steel on the WiiU as it would work as well. But I think, if you’re a thrid party developing for a Nintendo system like the Wii and the WiiU, then the highest priority should be to adress the number 1 key function of that console. Wonderful 101 demonstrates that too, while no developer really seems to care too much about the WiiU’s Wii-roots anymore.

On the other hand it could also make sense to translate the Red Steel-gameplay onto a game that’s using the gamepad like ZombiU does. I just don’t really see that happening. I think, those franchises work like Miyamoto once told, their development process works: first you have a concept in mind and then you choose which franchise it would fit best. And in this case, a Red Steel game would automatically be a game, that only works with Wiimote+ and Nunchuk. Especially during the following 2 years developers will need to make use of the gamepad as much as possible, because that’s the console’s major feature that’s gonna sell the game and/or the system. maybe when players get tired of always having to stick on gamepad-games, developers may get more creative and returning to Wiimote-Nunchuk-games, which I personally would definitely prefer. Of course that’s only how I think it works, I wouldn’t mind being wrong and seeing Red Steel 3 getting announced at E3 ;D

          • Arthur Jarret

True, I think it’s unlikely we will get a red steel 3 – especially as a wii U exclusive.

However – chances are better once you consider Ubisoft seems to move away from exclusive titles, judging by the titles currently in development which will go to 6/7 platforms.

As a multiplatform title it would work, as Wii U offers remote+ functionality, Playstation 3 has Move & Playstation 4 is confirmed to support move, too.

            …xbox360/durango have kinect…

Anyway, a zombiU 2 would have to be Wii U exclusive to offer the expected functionalities. It does seem like Ubi will be doing less exclusives this gen than they did in the previous generations. Only time will tell, though.

        • Archiq09

Me too but with a story because I not know story of first just you escape to london xD

      • Dennis Fisher Jr

Hell yeah bro.. i dont even like Zombies but ZombiU was pretty damn good!!

        • Ducked

Just imagine when ubisoft squeezes every ounce out of the Wii U’s graphics with ZombiU 2! And a bigger online mode.

    • Nintedward

*and Beyond good and evil 2 and most of their future games* fixed it for ya πŸ™‚

      • Jimmy D. Fugate

Thank you for fixing it for me, sir!

      • D.M.T

I want Red Steel 3 as well πŸ™‚

        • Nintedward

Indeedy! Red steel 2 was an under apreciated Gem. if Ubi could squeeze Red steel 2 out of the Wii , imagine what they could squeeze out of Wiiu :O

      • Levi Johansen

        YES!!! BGaE2 at E3 2013!!!!

It better happen, or I’ll keep playing Ubisoft games because they are the absolute best… I have nothing to threaten with… πŸ™

    • Suraj Alexander

For all the other developers to see and contribute to the wii u, we as wii u owners must show how grateful we are of ubisoft’s support by giving them a good feedback and email them letters of thanks for their amazing support and also by getting as many people as possible to buy their games. hopefully other developer’s will see this and start developing for the wii u and giving more support.

      • Knguro

In fact, I believe that what we should do is BUY Ubisoft games, that’s the best way to keep the support on Wii U

    • NkoSekirei

this will probably shut up the trolls about not getting any third party games which its not true

    • Archiq09

Rainbow 6 Patriots coming on WiiU all…

  • ChiwawaBoi

this made being sick today better. πŸ˜€ ……..hold on one second. this is usually the time the trolls come out of there dens. -_-

  • Johny

    thanks ubisoft πŸ™‚
also i see you’re featuring a similar gamepad functionality as in ZombiU ^^ sweet… LOVED ZOMBIU

  • Sweet.

  • D.M.T

FINALLY!!! Next time don’t take so long to announce games for Wii U. People need reasons to buy a Wii U. I already own a Wii U but i’m talking about other gamers.

    • E3 will do a lot of convincing

  • Marius Valasinas

I love Ubisoft. they’re bringing a lot to Wii U. BTW what is EA bringing?

    • fireheartis1

Dude EA sucks anyways and besides if they wont even bring Madden to the Wii U you know their just butt hurt at Nintendo lol. I just hope the NFL 2k series makes it onto the Wii U. At least we’ll have a better NFL game then what Madden is. Madden is just an updater here and there, while the 2k series brings better gameplay each time. If we can get that then I’ll be happy, and if not oh well I still have Madden 09 which is one of the best NFL games to come out so I’ll just keep playing that.

  • Petri

Now some gameplay demo with gamepad features presented, thank you.

  • Superstick98

    Well It’s official. Ubisoft rules.

    • uPadWatcher

Last year, Ubisoft had stolen the show at E3.

  • Anonymity

Enjoyed the good news about splinter cell but not all the calling out of trolls. Who cares what they think, and quit bringing them up if you hate them so much

  • Jimmy D. Fugate

Don’t forget there was also a leak earlier this year on a Ubisoft developer’s resume stating they have a “full physics based game” in development for the 360, PS3 and Wii U. So there is still more from Ubisoft yet to come.

  • Hendrick

Let’s all support Ubisoft and thank them for their work! Maybe they did something wrong with Raymen Legends, but still with all these games they have for us… I mean, its awesome! So don’t fuck them by saying stuff like , Fuck you Ubisoft! I’m not gonna buy any of your stupid games! I think they deserve a second change! On this moment i really love Ubisoft, there almost the only ones who are supporting and publishing great games for the Wiiu! So please go to Ubisoft or whatever and say; Thanks Ubisoft, for releasing these awesome games on the Nintendo Wiiu!

  • Colin Tosh

Glad to see Ubisoft acknowledges there are dedicated gamers on every side of the fence.

  • Sidney Majurie

This is so freaking cool. I always knew this game was coming but it’s nice to get an official announcement. Huge Splinter Cell fan. Preffered it to Metal Gear and I love their use of the Gamepad. This is the kind of stuff I imagined when I first thought of the Pad’s possibilities. Hight tech gadgets. Sweet.

  • The way Ubisoft uses the “Upad” in their games keeps me smiling, using the gamepad as they do in This game, now that is awesome. Some company on Some game said it would be a motion tracker and it would be awesome, to bad it never happened because IT WOULD be awesome. But hey it got killed and for good reason at that.

But now seeing Ubisoft using the Gamepad as a “Snake Cam” and read somewhere (possibly also referred to this game) it’s being used as a Sniper Scope in combination with the TV screen, I have to say, awesome job Ubisoft, atleast one company who CAN imagine innovative ways to utilize the second screen just like Nintendo, if just other companies took an example in that.

  • person

Let’s show everyone that Nintendo fans do buy good 3rd party games! (which Splinter Cell will be)

  • Great News, Staff at Baddigit.com was devastated about the process of the Wii U is ending up & how third party company’s don’t wanna make games for it but Ubisoft loves Nintendo so we are Glad Sam fisher is coming back once more. we hope we get more good content for the Wii U. also huge thumbs up for Wii U daily staff keep up the great content.

    Baddigit Staff

  • Rafael Saldana

A brand new Exclusive Red Steel would look nice on my wii U

  • fireheartis1

LOL looking at the comments today just trips me out. I remember everyone being so butt hurt at Ubisoft for delaying the finished Rayman Legends game so that it can be released on all consoles at the same time. It’s funny now that they are confirming so many games that are coming to Wii U everybody loves them now. I guess that’s just how it goes in the gaming community ha. I was never really mad at them for delaying the game, but I was mad that Microsoft has such a stupid policy. The Wii U game was finished so it should have been released, but Microsoft stupid policy kept that from happening. That’s why I was mad not at Ubisoft but at Microsoft. Anyways I love the Splinter Cell games and can’t wait to play another one.

    • Jimmy D. Fugate

I was mad at the 7 month delay not the choice of making it a multiplat.

  • Mark Thom

    YES!!!! KEEP BRING IT!!!!

  • Guest

Rainbow 6 Patriots coming on wiiu all…

  • Quicksilver88

I think they talk of wii-u getting nom3rd party is greatly exaggerated. I mean UBI is fully onboard, they are solid in a Japan with capcom, sega, square/enix, and namco all involved with the, new batman just announced. It is mostly EA that is pissing on wii-u and I think this will hurt them in the long run as wii-u gamers $$$ will all be going to these other publishers.

  • The_fuzz_buzz

So lets confirm this: Awesomeness, awesomeness, AWEsomeness, aweSOMEness, and, epicness. Yep! Confirmed!

  • Zeldatrek

You see this kind of stuff was the reason I never wanted to boycott Ubisoft. I knew they redeem themselves. EA on the other hand. well not so much.

  • Mark

I’m grateful that Ubisoft is a loyal and respectful developer to Nintendo. Just glad we don’t have assholes like EA on our hands anymore

  • SoulSilverZero

If Playstation is powered by Namco, then that means Nintendo is powered by Ubisoft…

  • mikeloveswiiu

    yay! more support from ubisoft
