A few weeks ago Pokemon developer Game Freak teased a new game was on the horizon from the studio. Today that game has been revealed as Soritia Horse, a game that seems to combine horse racing and solitaire. There are two phases of the game, aptly named solitaire phase and control phase. During the solitaire phase, you can improve the bond with your horse to make it run better.

Control phase puts you in control of your horse, using the stylus to control how well it navigates several courses. If you’re particularly proud of your horse, you can share its QR code with others so they can use it as well. The game will be released on July 31st in the Nintendo eShop for Japan. Currently there’s no word on when the game will be coming to Western markets.

Seems like a weird game but hey ill try it out

All that hype for nothing, but I guess i’m gonna’ have to deal with it. Horse racing & Solitaire? Now I don’t know if I really want to buy this game IF it’s coming overseas, the idea of mixing horse racing and solitaire sounds kinda creative, but these kind of games aren’t of my interest, so I think I’ll pass on this one.

Okay, that was a let down.
I mean, the translated words were: “A classic game that’s played all over the world will be reborn in a surprising collaboration”, which sounds really interesting, but now we know better. I mean, the classic game played all over the world is Solitaire. And collaboration refers to the collaboration between playing solitaire and horse racing.

It doesn’t look that great to me, it’s a kind of game you expect to find in Apple’s Appstore or the Android Market. So, I think I speak for the majority when I say, we expected something else.

Funny how this seems to be the year Nintendo keeps giving us stuff we don’t expect, be it good or bad. Think of this E3, we ALL expected something different. And how about the ‘year of Luigi’? We have like three games for him, it’s still just Mario Kart, Super Mario 3D Worlds and Mario being prominent in Super Smash Bros.

But, we have to keep looking on the bright side of things, some good games are coming.

If there is a demo, then I’d love to try it out. If it’s a cheaper game, then maybe I’ll buy it. It looks uniquely interesting, but I need to play it to decide if it’s worth it.

There was a demo for Harmoknight so I hope this gets one.

Let’s not sugar coat it. This sounds like the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of. I can’t think of a worse idea for a video game.

    • therealruben1

How about 90% of licensed games

  • Yen

    Eh, for 500 Yen… I’d try it.

  • Elem187

Wow… they are really running out of ideas at GameFreak.

Ashley I think the Teaser was uploaded like 1 week ago (5 days actually) 😉

I really laughed at all the guys in our german forums, when they showed THIS xDD
Almost everyone thought it would be some Pokemon Spin-Off or at least something similar to HarmoKnight and now not one single person would even consider buying this!

I don’t know what they thought how many people would be attracted by this. Of course we don’t know the full details yet and maybe it’s actual fun, but don’t think, that too many people will buy it. Kinda the same thing as with Adventure Time: Everyone’s excited for some new awesome game of a cool franchise/a quite talented dev team and then we get disappointed (maybe just because our hopes were too high ^^)

  • Nintyfan

Lower your expectations and maybe you won’t be as disappointed.
