Pre-order bonuses have become a popular thing for publishers and retailers because they know you want to buy the game. They want your money early, so pre-order bonuses are a great way to get at that money. GameStop is notorious for having exclusive maps, skins, or weapons for games that incorporate those, but other retailers like Amazon, Target, and even Walmart have gotten in on the pre-order bonus trend.

That being said, the pre-order bonus for the Amazon version of Sonic Lost World is one of the stupidest bonuses I’ve seen in a long time. If you pre-order the game with Amazon right now, they’re currently offering 25 bonus lives for the game. That’s almost at the level of in-app purchases for many mobile devices.

Pre-order Sonic Lost World and receive 25 extra lives. Never have to worry again when taking those risky leaps and jumps with this bumper pack of extra lives. Access code will be emailed within two business days after your order ships.

There’s also a Deadly Six Edition of the game that comes with extra stuff already on the disc that you unlock with a code, so there’s that. I won’t be pre-ordering for “25 extra” lives. How about you?

Good. Who needs pre-order Bonuses anyway? Away with that nonsense.

  • Falcoxcalibur

Sorry, I would need to shut down my brain to accept that offer.

    • Sonic the Hedgehog

Yeah, and they are insulting me. Does Amazon really think I can’t do anything?

  • Seth S. Scott

  • Magnus Eriksson

    Amazon surely loves Nintendo…

  • Daniel Gonzalez

I’d rather have 25 extra NES games to add to my library.

    • Arthur Jarret

Why would you add NES games to a library? I only keep my books there.
My NES games are in my gameroom.

      • he probably refers to the wii u VC.

        • Arthur Jarret

My Wii U is in my gameroom too.
My library does have speakers that are attached to my receiver in my gameroom, but the only game-related items in my library are my portables at times… but I mostly just keep books there.

  • figs28

Happens when Nintendo and Sega join in on the modern business.

  • Marcus Navarro

Barry Sanders says it the best:

“Sometimes, you have to shut off certain parts of your brain to do what you do.”

  • BIG Franky

I was just at Target and they have a Pre-order bonus available for Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures game for WiiU….it’s a collectible figurine of one of the characters from the series or Pac-Man in one of the power-up suits available in the game…or just Pac-Man in his standard look is available too. For anyone that might be interested.

    • See, that’s an interesting pre-order bonus. Not something stupid.

      • BIG Franky

Yep…at least it’s an actual physical item. 25 lives? Ridiculous.

      • BIG Franky

and you know what else? both my kids watch the pac man television show the game is based off of (on Disney DX channel)… and they want the game…. i should’ve just pre-ordered it and got the figure, as I’ll be buying the game anyways. fail on my part.

I’m sorry but like I said before. I feel like this is gonna be one if those sonic games you play once and put down. Waiting for reviews. But if there’s a really good preorder bonus I may change my mind. There’s still time!!!! Someone make this happen.

  • Steve

I get to live 25 more times? That’s great! I get to live until cars fly and our civil axions migrate to Mars.

Oh, wait… They meant lives in the game. Never mind 🙁

  • starwars360

Shopto.net got offer 3 exclusive preorder DLCs – Black Bombs, Rare Omochao RC Gadget and 2 free DLC codes. But not sure what 2 free DLCs is. We will find out what those when game come out. Shopto.net is best preorder deal for Sonic: Lost World: Deadly Edition. 🙂

  • Niknique

Even with how stupid this offer is, there’s still going to be people who will fall for it :/ There’s a sucker born every minute.

  • Daniel Carvalho

If it were 25 extra lives on a NES game, then it would make sense, but come on. Anyone can get 25 lives during gameplay, and it isn’t even a challenge.

    • DragonSilths

Nope, you only get 1 life in Sonic Lost World. If you die its game over and you have to start over, so this is a great deal.

      • DarkK

yeah that’s some bullshit you just pulled right there.

        • DragonSilths

It was a joke, thought it would make the game so much better.

          • DarkK

I don’t see how getting more lives makes the game “so much better”, wether you get them yourself or by paying money.

          • DragonSilths

No, I mean if the game was made so YOU DONT GET LIVES you don’t collect 100 of something to get a life, you get 1 life per level. No LIVES PERIOD would make the game better. So this bonus would be the only way to get more then 1 life PERIOD.

          • DarkK

Ah, I see. I agree that lives shouldn’t even exist anymore in Mario nor Sonic, but you can find lives in Lost World. I’ve seen plenty of videos of people getting extra lives, so I dunno what you mean by “you only get one life per level”.

          • DragonSilths

I mean they should have made the game so you only get 1 level, you have to go through each level with only 1 life, no checkpoints, so you have to perfect each level.

          • DarkK

That would be a ridiculous way to make the game challenging, since you wouldn’t have room for error. What if it’s your first time playing and something that you weren’t expecting happens?

Having only one life for sake of “being perfect in every level” is a cheap way to add dificulty to the game, unless it’s an extra hard mode that you get after you have experienced the game.

          • DragonSilths

So you die and go back 3 whole minutes to the beginning of the stage…big whoop.

          • DarkK

“So you die and lose all of your progress, that includes red rings and hidden goodies you might have found, probably because of some cheap obstacle you weren’t expecting….big whoop”

Yeah….nobody is going to agree with you here. Either make it a harder difficulty mode or let me get extra lives (or better yet, remove the life system all together)

          • DragonSilths

That was my point…remove the life system so if you die you go back to the beginning of the level. Its really not that big of a deal. Remember NES games like Super Mario Bros? NO SAVES. People have become to dependent on games holding their hands. Each level in Sonic Lost World is like 5 minutes…is it REALLY a big deal to have to do it over again. Oh I forgot gamers these days have no skill and no confidence in their own damn skill.

          • DarkK

So…because of progression, because of how games have evolved and now actually let you SAVE YOUR GAME, gamers have become incompetent and “dependent of the game holding their hand”?

Yeah……no. Even Mario had lives AND CHECKPOINTS, so that example contradicts your point. Even so, there’s people who can beat Mario 1 in 5 minutes, and that game once again has lives and check points, so yeah.

Again, either make it a “expert” mode for such “perfect” gamers like yourself who want to play the game, die at the very end of the level, and restart the whole thing, losing any hidden goodies they might have gotten, or ignore your idea all together.

          • DragonSilths

It was just an idea sheesh. I’m not even getting Sonic Lost Worlds.

          • DarkK

The idea is fine, I just think the execution won’t work, specially with a kid-friendly franchise like Sonic. Rayman Origins/Legends removed the life system and lets you re-do the levels with checkpoints as much as you please.

This isn’t the 80s anymore, dude. We don’t have to keep paying quarters to keep going in a game that is filled with arcade-like tactics to keep making you fail, and the technology has advanced enough to have checkpoints and save data. That’s not “holding your hand”, that’s progression. Holding your hand is giving you 25 lives at the beginning of the game and having a white Sonic completing the level for you.

          • DragonSilths

            I wasn’t around in the 1980’s. I was born in 1990.

          • DarkK

Mario 1 is from 1985, and since you used that as an example (which doesn’t prove your point, as it has check points) I used the 80s as an example as well.

  • BGhp

  • Miles “Tails” Prower

Wow that is pretty stupid. I wonder if anyone will really…buy it?

  • Patrick Francis

Eh, If I was going to buy a case copy of it I would use Amazon just because I signed up for Prime. But I download all games that are available to download so I never really buy case-copies of games unless they come in crazy bundles.

Though getting 25 extra lives on a game is stupid, simply because it isn’t something that will last. Usually pre-order stuff is a way to give fans of the game extra stuff to show off that they are a fan. Such as toys, outfits, and other things.

  • palomino blue

Or you can, you know, PLAY the game.

  • Nikko Ybanez

This is a pretty biased news site. I mean, I agree that it’s dumb, but news sites aren’t supposed to share opinions.

  • There was a time you would just enter a code for things like this.

    • sd

Or you could buy the code cartridge full of cheats for tonnes of games.

      • Ah… Good Ol’ Game Genie/Action Replay days. Never used them too much though.

        • sd

Thats it, I couldnt remember what they were called. Friends at school loved them, but I never really bought or used them. I always preferred to just get killed and suck at the game rather than cheat and pretend I was great.

          • Arthur Jarret

I loved them not because they made the game easier, but they allowed you to do different stuff than normally possible: such as being able to play with boss characters, flying, being able to play regular mario land levels with the sub-marine or plane or throw hammers instead of fireballs.

          • sd

You see you can tell I never used them as I never thought of that aspect. It was DLC oldskool if that was the case.

        • Elitepwnsface

  • Mario

Really? They could’ve done have done better that!

  • Connor Devlin

    Yeah, it is sorta dumb.

  • Gah…bad. Game looks good though.

  • Hulkamania

I do want this game very much, but thats retarded lol

  • Forbsz

If you pre order you should get something in the game like the first original sonic games at the title screen when you start up the game that would be cool.

  • Hulkamania

25 Bonus Lives is for people who plan on being losers

  • Lightning Yoshi

I will buy this pre-order bonus, problem motherfuckers, and no I am not crazy or retard my mom had me tested lol. Ahahahahha stupidest thing ever.

  • Denvy

While I agree that it’s a lame pre-order bonus, I don’t think the headline should be effected by your personal feelings. If this site is striving to be a news site that is.

  • Michael Jurado

le sigh the world we live in -_-
