One of the most certain ways of knowing if a game is coming out and on what system, is to check the ESRB ratings for it. Since every retail game must be rated before hitting the store shelves, and since that information is publicly available, it’s easy to check what games will be coming out on what systems. Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 has just been rated by the ESRB for the Wii U. The game will also be coming to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on January 15th, 2013. We can now add the Wii U to that list.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is a stealth action game that’s built on the CryEngine 3. A few months ago, developer Crytek said that there was already a CryEngine 3 Wii U game in development, and this could very well be that game. Crytek later informed that several developers have now licensed the engine for the Wii U platform. Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 is a first person shooter that relies on stealth and realistic sniping situations, where factors like wind, distance, and bullet drop affect the gameplay. It’s developed by City Interactive and published by Namco Bandai.

I played the first one, it was alright. Hopefully this one is better. 🙂

  • nintedward

hopefully its better this time. if the reviews are good. i’m in .

  • 16der

Wow, a lot of games are starting to show so much support for the Wii U, it justs goes to show you that the Wii U will dominate the gaming industry, can’t wait till it comes out.

    • nintedward

nintendo know they messed up with the wiiu a bit.
now they have a decently powered console. expect to see a lot of cross platform games. cross platform developers have nothing against nintendo, they just find some of their consoles a bit absurd to develop for.
the n64 was using crazy cartidges.
the gamecube had a sorry excuse for 2 analogue sticks.
the wii was underpowered and more focused on motion gaming.

these consoles were ALL awesome in their own right.

this time nintendo have learnt there long hard lesson. and made a console that developers have NO reason not to put their games on it.

the wiiu looks set to be BY FAR nintendo’s most normal console of all time.
at the same time it completely inovates with its gamepad tablet style controller. i am super excited for wiiu .

      • nintedward

edit . * nintendo knows they messed up with the wii a bit* . not the wiiu.

the wiiu looks set to fix all of nintendo’s past problems.

      • Macarony64

I just have a gaming boner 4 the wiiu ,is that a correct therm?

        • nintedward

if it’s as big as my gaming stonker , then yes. its correct.
i still have a semi off the 3ds XL .

          • Macarony64

  • CheckItNow12

Hopefully, more of these hardcore games will come and lure more people over to the Wii U. The games also looks pretty cool, if I should mention.

I think that ”hopefully” is unnecessary, we are seeing like 2-4 new games announced for the Wii U every week, and most of them are supposed to come out at launch! With such a number of launch games it’s almost guaranteed to be a GIANT launch for the system, which also guarantees future game releases.

  • Sqarticus

OMG this game sounds amazing! Being a target shooter I know how annoyingly unrealistic the shooting in CoD is, so this sounds fantastic! Bullet drop, wind, and distance will be sure to make this the most realistic shooter on the market. SO PUMPED!

    • PridgMSS

Definitely agree, but I thought Treyarch revamped the audio in BO 2?

  • NintendoGamer

Great! Now I want Crysis 3 and Borderlands 2 on Wii U!

    • Macarony64

They may come but not on launch i dont care how much time it takes they will come

    • XDLugia

Screw that! FICE US GTA V!!

      • NintendoGamer

Not that excited about GTA. Very overrated series in my opinion.

        • XDLugia

Then you have not played San Andreas. The replay-value is just as big as Minecraft and Smash Bros.!

  • TheBoldman67

This time? What, was the first one bad?

    • ninjabake

Yes. Check out the reviews for it.

  • MultiMidgetkingjacob90

It supports CryEngine 3 yes now the game will look great

  • RLThomaz

That is fantastic! Being a Sniper Only game opens a new world of possibilities for the Wii U Game Pad. Imagine using the Wii U game pad as the scoop of your sniper rifle? It’ll certainly give an extra BOOST to the game play on Wii U! It might be even better than the PC version (according to the user interface). PC FPS is the best because of the Mouse itself, but with focus on sniper rifles the gamepad can beat it!

    • TheUNation

If you add a Wii U Zapper and connect it to the Wii U Game Pad and you got yourself one kick-ass artillery.

I’m looking forward to Sniper as well as the power of CryEngine 3 on the U!

  • Macarony64

Variety variety variety thats what sell consoles wiiu will have the most variet games on launch ever there is game from almost every game tipe the only
1 is rpg but those take alot of time to develope

    • PKUltima

I cannot wait for a new rpg for the Wii-U! A week or so ago, my brother and I went to our local Gamestop and picked up The Last Story, and I happened to find Xenosaga Episode 1, 2 and 3 so I think those four games will keep me occupied until Monolith finishes their new RPG… that is if Nintendo decides to localize in the U.S.

  • Swic11

Sniping in any game (if applicable) is my thing. I hope this game is better than the last because I heard terrible things and never picked it up. If this one is better I’m all for buying it to support those 3rd parties!

    • Edward Smith

I have the first game and if sniping is your thing it’s a great game. It isn’t just sniping though, there is more to the game.

  • wtf

CRISES water that allwsys sucked to me just EYE candy but boarderlands 2 WANT and too me the wii WILL ALWAYS BE the best at FPS than reg controller and mouse and keyboard unbeatable

  • Golden Fox

    Awesome, this is great news!

I haven’t played the 1st game in this series and I would need to see more of the game to push me to buy it. That being said I have played Crysis 2 on PC and seen the videos and info from Crysis 3 and that engine is just awesome and makes games look and play great. No one can say having this added and/or able to be in games on WiiU is a bad thing or a weak system no way how…

  • Bravyoura

not expecting much as the first game received poor reviews and in my experiance just because a game uses a reputable engine doesn’t guarantee a beautiful game just look up turning point fall of liberty to see how a good engine like the unreal engine 3 can make a truly ugly game.
