Last week we reported on a rumor that Sniper Elite V2, the realistic WW2 sniper simulator would be coming to Wii U. Today Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley confirmed the game’s release in an interview with VG247. Kingsley stated that the Wii U version of the game will have all new controls and new interactivity featuring the Wii U GamePad. You can see some of the planned interactivity for the GamePad in the screenshot above.

Additionally, Kingsley stated:

Sniper Elite is just the kind of mature game that is perfect for the different mechanics of the Wii U. It’s been a challenge to get it right, but thanks to our team and the fantastic support of our partners at 505 Games we believe we’ve brought the unique gameplay to a whole new platform.

Are you excited about this release? Sniper Elite V2 is possibly one of the most mature titles available on any console to date, as it features realistic body and organ simulation so when you make shots, you can see exactly what parts of the body you’re piercing on your enemy. Let us know if you’re excited for this release in the comments below.

loved d first game even though ended to fast for my taste but a must buy for dose craving for a reallistic shooter

One I won’t be getting, although it is an exceptional addition to the WiiU library. 🙂

  • I loved it on PC so I’ll be getting it for Wii U ^^

I hope they do the same thing ZombiU did with the crossbow where you had to put the game pad infront of the screen to aim

    • That’s one thing I hope they avoid.
I had no problem with the sniping mechanics in ZombiU. The scenarios where you could snipe were appropriate and fit the slower paced action of the game well. If you kept far enough away to snipe safely, there isn’t much a zombie can do against you (except for spitters).

Sniper Elite is the opposite. Your oppenents can shoot back, in long and short range engagements. You don’t want to be stuck with a sniper rifle in CQC, and this is why I think sniping ZombiU style won’t transition well into a game like this. Having to raise the Gamepad to snipe, but then lower it and tap a button or the screen to switch to a different weapon when the action heats up doesn’t strike me as good and/or clean utilization of the Gamepad.

The image included in this article is just about what I’m expecting: minimap, weapons, HUD, and equipment on the Gamepad screen, allowing for the TV to be free of any clutter. We’ll see if there are any additional additions in the weeks to come. Hopefully this game will support off-TV gameplay as well.

As this is a remake of the 1st Sniper Elite, I’m not sure I’ll pick this one up. I’ll have to wait and see how Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 performs before deciding on which sniper title to pick up…

“Sniper Elive V2 has been officially confirmed by Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley.” There’s a typo. Instead of “Elite” it says “Elive”.

    • Maybe its a Legend of Zelda crossover exclusive XD

Yeah, I noticed that as well

  • The_fuzz_buzz

Honestly, the graphics don’t look the best I’ve ever seen…

    • Well that’s just a screenshot from the other console versions

      • The_fuzz_buzz

Oh, makes sense…. It’s those old, outdated dumb Xbox 360 and PS3 graphics ehh? 😀

  • Wayne Beck

Wish this game wasn’t so gory. I like sniping games and all, but I don’t really feel the need to see brains and eyeballs exploding all over the place…

    • It doesn’t thrive in gore like Mortal Kombat does, it just happens to have it. Deal with it or stop complaining.

      • Wayne Beck

No need to be rude, I just feel Gore for the Sake of Gore serves no purpose in Video Games.

    • Hi Wayne,

I have the game on PC and you can turn the X-ray vision of your snipes off, so you don’t even see it. Don’t let that deter you from this amazing game. 🙂

      • Wayne Beck

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve no intention of boycotting the game or anything, I just find it distasteful. I’ll likely get this game eventually, this is just the kind of thing that pushes it down my list a notch or two.

      • I do hope you can turn off the impact animations. Don’t get me wrong, I will be getting the game once it’s out. It’s just that the animations maybe awesome to watch at first, but I’m sure it gets old after a few go throughs.

There is a difference between not being able to handle gore and finding it wholly unnecessary. There is no reason to add excessive gore to a game just for the sake of adding it.

It would be an entirely different story if the game was trying to be hyper realistic or something, but they aren’t. They added the gore for no other reason than shock value. It’s pathetic.

  • Hmm is it just me or? Where are the haters on this post, if it’s kiddy or bad news they are EVERYWHERE and now WiiU gets a REAL GOREY SNIPER GAME and the haters are nowhere to be found… I for one am kinda excited to see good news for a change. Probably will be added on my to get list.

I hope I didn’t step on the devils tail now.

    • Nick Kulakovskiy

Gore doesn’t make a game “not kiddy”, for example, Call of Duty is the ultimate game for small under-aged kids.
There are quite some gory games released on the Wii U already, just to point it out. I will probably not get this if it costs more than 60$ because I have it on my computer already.
This game, though, is way less gory than Ninja Gaiden 3: Razors Edge, which I, myself, would actually give an 8/10.

yes Wii U really needs more games! and when i heard about windwaker remake i just thought i could make video about 1 game on nes that could also need remake 🙂 watch yourself and give me your thoughts on video comment..going to make few more nes remake wishes videos on youtube <3  Any Game Like this is only good for Wii U..i can just hope nintendo would do this.

  • Now I wish the other upcoming Sniper game (Sniper2: Ghost Warrior) gets a Wii U release as well.

  • Linkamus

The minute I saw “505 Games”, this went out the door for me.  Those guys are garbage.

    • I have the release on PC and it’s a pretty fun game.

  • joel mendoza

I am so buying this game as i love sniping games!!!!!!!! I hope it could be played without the T.V. and only on the gamepad, since i like playing only on the gamepad

  • prettypinkpanacea

This game is going to be fantastic. I wonder if they’ll release a sniper elite set in modern times for the wii u. Perhaps, it would be too controversial.

  • bizzy gie

Please update the video when there’s a new trailor so I can see the Wii U slate at the bottom of the screen next to Xbox 360 and PS3.

  • hey….wait 1 sec……..where is all the nintendo haters at??

  • It may not be the best of the best but i’m glad more games are coming to the wii u. went out and bought warriors orochi 3 because i was getting bored of the games i owned and holy crap’d that was terrible.

  • YESSS!!! I LOVE THIS GAME!! i cant wait to get it on WiiU

  • I have the first one on the wii and im pretty sure they will put a option to turn the x-ray gore off since the original on the wii didn’t have to much.

I just hope there are going to be wii zapper control options, as well as maybe feature the new zapper mount for the gamepad, this title would be the perfect game to debut it. Having the scope mounted on top in front of you would be pretty bad ass. Not sure if it would be top heavy though…. but it will give it a little more realistic weight.
