Last month we reported that a Skylanders Swap Force Wii U bundle was on the way to North America, bundling one of the biggest games of the year with the Wii U. The bundle retails for the standard $299, which is a great deal considering Skylanders starter packs retail for around $80 by themselves.

This bundle includes a white Wii U 8GB basic system, Skylanders Swap Force game, a Portal of Power, three Skylanders figures and a series of stickers and trading cards. Also included is Nintendo Land. For parents looking for a gift this holiday season for their children, this bundle will be excellent and if you’ve yet to try Skylanders or a Wii U, this is a great entry point.

Not a bad way to get rid of those extra Basic models kicking around.

  • jjbredesen

Good, the more bundles the better! Lets hope this sells.

A friend of mine looking to buy a Wii U says the New Super Mario Bros + Luigi U bundles are sold out every where. Doesn’t surprise me because that bundle is a REALLY good deal.

      • jjbredesen

Yeah, the Wii U sales are really starting to take of! I am very confident, about the sales. The Wii U will do great this holiday!

Great move, the only problem now is advertising and customer awareness, You really can’t deny that when you’ve got freaking Skylanders bundles Nintendo!

  • BIG Franky

There are a couple of really good Black Friday deals with this bundle as well…. at GameStop, when you buy this bundle for $299 you get a free $25 dollar gift card and a Skylanders backpack. While at Toys R Us, you can buy this bundle for $249!

    • Ducked

Its actually $259.99 at Toys R Us on black friday

    • Zuxs13

Yeah there are some great deals for it. Too bad parents have no idea about it. They will see it in the Black Friday ads and think its just another Wii for way too much money.

It’s really strange. Even I as a WiiU Owner could understand if someone would take this as a Wii Bundle. Same White/Gray colorscheme. With the black Premium bundles, it did a slightly better job in resembling something different.

        • BIG Franky

I dunno about that…. last year when the Skylander Giants Wii bundle was released for the holidays, it came bundled with a Blue Wii…. not sure colors of system have much to do with people’s confusion. I agree that confusion exists, but I don’t think it has to do with color at all.

Speaking of confusion, the worst is that new Nintendo add for the WiiU where the kids keep referencing “upgrading” to a WiiU… as if the WiiU is an add-on to the Wii, much like the Sega 32X or Sega CD add-ons back in the day… just my take.

          • val berger

indeed. I happened to be at a huge mart for electronic entertainment and some kids there passed a WiiU and they actually didn’t know what it even was. only the supernerdy little boy who plays too many games (like I used to be at that age ;D )tried to explain it although I don’t even think he really got it. Until then, I didn’t really believe, the confusion-issue could bee that big, but if 11yr old children, the main-target audience, isn’t too sure about this system, then who should be?

  • Zuxs13

This is actually a good game, its too bad they couldn’t utilize the NFC chip on the game pad for something “extra” for the Wii U Version. Maybe some NFC cards to add bonuses to characters (cards made by Nintendo for Activision)

    • jjbredesen

Yeah, but have they actualy used the NFC chip, ever? I can’t recall seing any games that uses it.

      • The Pokemon Rumble game uses it, but I haven’t seen any figures for it at any GameStop.

        • BIG Franky

the pokemon figs are sold in pokeballs at the registers at GameStop… the local stores around me have them…

        • Vinicius

Why so many dislikes? ; /

          • jjbredesen

Yeah i was wondering why i was getting them… I guess Mrdownvote has come back.. 🙁

And yes my comment will get a dislike just wait for it.

        • jjbredesen

Ok well good to hear that atleast 1 game uses them…. As long as i am not forced to buy figures to get charecters in Smash bros i will be happy.

They should use it, but i dont know how…

        • jjbredesen

Wow why all the downvotes! Ashley i think you guys could need some more comment moderators, need any help?

      • Zuxs13

Yes what Ashley said. The Pokemon game. So far that is it.

    • the problem is the character needs to stay on the portal the entire time gameplay is going on because of all the read/writes done to the data that is saved on the toy. You wouldn’t be able to game and have the figure there the whole time

      • Zuxs13

I was talking about NFC cards, that could be weapons or add ons for in game characters. Etc

        • oooh. you mean make extra cards or something for wii u only?

          • Zuxs13

Yes similar to AR cards, buy a pack and get ‘surprise ‘ upgrades for your character or something.

          • hrm… I like knowing what I’m getting though… It would work for like, the bonus levels and other stuff.

  • jjbredesen

OK people! Why are we getting so many downvotes, can a admin, fix this we are getting trolled/spamed or whatever why should call it big time. This post will get about 5 down votes in 1 sec jesus!

    • jjbredesen

Dam this better not mean that the upvote/downvote war must start again….

      Please dont start again!

  • Rinslowe

    Go you good thing!
