If you’ve been playing through Shovel Knight and find yourself stuck on the Tinker Knight boss, it’s a known bug that developer Yacht Club Games has issued a patch for today. The issue is something the team has been working on a patch for, with the patch for the Wii U version of the game now available for download.

The 3DS version is still being worked on, so if you purchased the game on your Nintendo 3DS, you’ll have to wait a little while longer. We’ll keep you updated for when a new patched version is available for Nintendo 3DS owners.

Have you experienced any bugs while playing Shovel Knight on your Wii U?

  • Nope, nothing yet!

  • MerryBlind .

Hey anyone, any reasons to pick this up on PC rather than Wii U? Otherwise I’ll just get it for Wii U if only for off-TV play.

    • Christian Schoff

I didn’t even know it was on PC.

    • Hikingguy

Because it is DRM free on PC. And if you like to play games on Linux, you can play it there when it is released.
As much as I like Nintendo, I also like DRM free.
But for some reason this game feel right on a Nintendo system.

      • MerryBlind .

Well I’d get it on Steam anyway if I am to get it on PC… And why are you mentioning DRM? Ar you considering the Wii U itself as DRM or is there something more obscure happening with this game?

        • Epicstuf

There is really nothing to worry about for DRM. Not with the Wii U. I have all 3 versions, but I like the Wii U version, for more nostalgia effect.

          • MerryBlind .

Well that’s what I thought, but since Hikingguy mentioned DRM I thought there was something going on about DRM. Thanks.

        • Hikingguy

Nothing obscure happening. You asked the question “any reasons to pick this up on PC rather than Wii U”, So I gave two reasons I thought were pretty good. 1) The game is DRM free on PC, 2) Once they release it on Linux, you can play it on Linux. Some people prefer to play games on Linux when they can.
If you buy the game from Yacht Club’s website you can get the PC version and the Steam code for $15.00 (I think that also give you access to the Linux version when it comes out too. But I would bet you get that on Steam also.)

          • MerryBlind .

Well I was asking because I don’t really understand why you brought DRM into the subject… Thanks anyway!

          • Hikingguy

In no way do I condone stealing games.
I do think buying this game DRM free for a PC/Linux has the advantage of giving you the freedom to install the game on any computer you own. Or when I buy a new computer. I know Steam allows similar advantages too.

So I do believe that it is an advantage over the Wii U. Because if I owned multiple Wii U’s I would have to buy multiple games.

Like I said, I was only trying to answer your question. I was not trying to start any DRM controversy.
Even Yacht Club’s description touts the DRM free nature of the PC version.

          • MerryBlind .

Yeah ok I get that. Still, I was talking more about exclusive features that add to the game’s content. For example Wii U has the GamePad for touch inventory or something like that, and for off-TV play, and I just read that there’s multiplayer modes exclusive to Nintendo. So yeah, I’m gonna go with the Wii U version.

          • Hikingguy

I agree and I think the Wii U is the best choice. For all the advantages you mentioned, the Wii U has the best version. No doubt.

          • MerryBlind .

Cheers mate! Thanks for your input!

          • Hikingguy

I’m sorry for not understanding your initial question. I don’t think the PC version has any of the cool features like the touch screen.

    • palomino blue

I’m a couch gamer so I went Wii U for this purchase. It just feels right on the gamepad too (giving you quick touch access to your items). No idea how it plays on PC though.

      • MerryBlind .

Well I’m a couch gamer too, that’s why my PC is hooked up to my TV! But yeah I’m gonna go with the Wii U version for this game. It just fits more at home on a Nintendo console, and there seems to be some exclusive features.

Have you tried the multiplayer option? Is it like, 2 players, with one person on the TV and the other on the GamePad?

  • Little Seal

So long time to release and comes with bugs…
And later they are complaining why Nintendo fans are struggling to buy 3rd party / Indie games.

    • Epicstuf

There were no notcible bugs. Hell, I think there were no bugs.

    • greengecko007

Nintendo games have had similar problems in the past that took a similar amount of time to get patched, so I don’t know what you’re getting at.

  • Parker Johnson

No problems here. I just got the game yesterday, and I am loving it. It is just like an NES game, but with a fucking shovel. Making it 10X better

  • I made it through the “Tinker Knight” battle with no issues. 🙂 GREAT GAME!!!! Frustrating at times but very fun! 🙂

  • greengecko007

Good to see that this is patched. There’s also an occasional sound glitch that occurs in Plague Knight’s stage after defeating the miniboss that I hope gets patched.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s nice to see that they’re already working on patches. That’s a sign of good developers. I haven’t noticed any bugs while playing it on my 3DS.

  • Trombone Renegade

When I was fighting Treasure Knight, and he did the attack where he jumps in the air and fires his anchor downward, he moved all the way to the left of the screen to do the attack, but froze completely after the anchor stuck. I was able to beat him still, but a glitch is a glitch.

  • Arthur Jarret

    Nope, no bugs.

Of course, the bastards haven’t release the game in europe yet.

Europe is the second-largest gaming market! US ranks third behind Asia and EU in consumer spending on software.

    Nag nag nag 😛

  • majora :D

Personally I have yet to see a bug (have the PC version). Nice to see it’s being fixed.

  • Hiro365

If you are a specific distance from the floor when you beat the first half of the Tinker Knight fight, you get stuck in the victory animation (also immune to damage) and cannot continue the fight.
