Nintendo platforms have something of a reputation among indie developers, with many feeling that the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS aren’t worth their time. Yacht Club Games have turned that notion on its head, as they recently revealed that around 50% of their revenue comes directly from Nintendo platforms, including the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U.

According to the report, 30% of sales come from the 3DS and 20% from the Wii U. The only platform to beat Nintendo was Steam, with 32% of revenue coming from there. Sony’s combined PS3/PS4/Vita release of the game only generated 14% of sales, while Xbox managed a paltry 4%.

Of course, it helps that Shovel Knight’s Kickstarter laid out clear plans for a focus on the PC and Nintendo platforms, but this just goes to show that targetting multiple platforms can lead to a pretty big increase in sales, considering how spread out these figures are.
