Dec 2nd, 2013

Shovel Knight is an upcoming game for both the Wii U and the 3DS that saw a successful Kickstarter just a few months ago. The original release schedule for that Kickstarter would see the game releasing in September 2013, but that date has obviously passed with no word from the developers.

Yacht Club Games developer Sean Velasco has finally confirmed that the studio is now targeting an early 2014 release for the game. While delays for games are inevitable, this is certainly a disappointment for those who backed the Kickstarter hoping to see the game sometime this year. I guess you’ll just be waiting a little bit longer.

    Oh no….

  • slush_puppie

I backed this game, and I’ll always take a polished game later, than a rushed game with bugs (or lacking features) earlier. Take your time Yacht Club, I can wait for your shovely goodness.

    • Magnus Eriksson

Its a great looking game. Miss my Amiga500

      • Michał Pasternak

Why miss anything? With interfaces like SIO2SD for 8-bit Atari, SD2IEC for Commodore C64, Divide for ZX Spectrum or Satandisk for 16-bit computers like Amiga or Atari – why miss anything?

  • jjbredesen

NO! i was so hyped for this game 🙁 but i guess it is better to have a more polished game than a rushed game..

      Unless it’s Aliens Colonial Marines……

      • jjbredesen

        lol, Good words

      • Sdudyoy

Not all rushed games are bad, look at Super smash brothers melee.

        • CEObrainz

Well that quote was from Miyamoto himself, but can you give a source to where it says Melee was rushed?

          • Sdudyoy

I know where the quote came from but I’ve heard it be used so much on Wii U daily that I think everyone here already knows it, and I just assumed that melee was rushed because of all the glitches and character clones there where in that game.

          • CEObrainz

I don’t think it was too rushed, but there was more pressure to make that game better than the original.

        • Shota

maybe you mean when snake wasn’t added because they where almost done with the game

      • val berger

Aliens Colonial Marins was still rushed as they decided to sell it.

        Double comment?

        • CEObrainz

Not sure how, Disqus playing up again most likely….

      • Madmagican

        Or Duke Nukem Forever

      • Magnus Eriksson

        or Wii Party U…

        • jjbredesen

          FANBOY RAGE TIME!!

          nei da bare kødda 😛

  • Jon

I thought this was set for early 2014 anyway… lol

  • CEObrainz

This is the first time I’m hearing about this oddly, maybe I missed the announcement before or forgot about it, but delaying the game till 2014 may not be such a great idea. With the promise of more 1st and 2nd party releases next year gamers may not have enough in their pockets to pay attention to smaller titles such as this game.

  • Madmagican

AW, I was really looking forward to this one coming this year
    ….*sigh* I guess they gotta make sure it’s quality gameplay…back to SM3DW I suppose

  • Niknique

Well I guess it’s better this way anyways. I mean my wallet needs time to recover from all these consoles and games that just came out! 😀

  • Javy G

This game and Mighty No. 9 are most anticipated indie games.

    • Marcell Wade

      Don’t forget half genie hero.

      • Josiah Parsons

Meh. Shantae looks kinda boring. Mno9 and Scram Kitty (seriously) are my indie wish list for next year.

  • lonewolf88

has anyone noticed all the negative news but hardly any good stuff? just saying there must be good stuff somewhere because bad doesn’t exist without good. i think wii U daily is doing a throw around trying to let other fanboys in with bad news then start arguments when good/ bad news comes out. has anyone wondered why theres always trolls here?

    • Veries Seals

yeah, the new consoles are out. They are busy writing about PS4 and XB1. I love the Wii U and the other two consoles.

Seriously. There’s plenty of bad WiiU news to report, but there’s also plenty of good things too, which seem to be getting overlooked. For every leak of a new screenshot or reveal, there’s twenty articles about how polls are ranking Xbone/PS4 higher than WiiU.

Not saying we don’t need to hear this stuff too, just seems a little… excessive, is all.
