Jun 6th, 2014

After a sizable delay earlier this year that prevented the development team from releasing in March as planned, Yacht Club Games has finally announced that Shovel Knight will be releasing on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS on June 26. The game will be playable at E3 on the Nintendo 3DS console, so we’ll track down the crew for coverage of the game so you can see early hands-on footage of what to expect.

No information was given on a European release date, but the team did mention that they’ve been working with localization and ratings specific to the European release so it should follow in some time. For those who want to play the game on PC, that will be an international release so you won’t have to wait for localization there.

Are you excited about finally taking command of the legendary Shovel Knight?

Is it June 26 or June 36?

    • MerryBlind .

Must be 36. It has to be.

  • I let out an audible “finally” when reading this. Thanks Ash.

  • Henry Hotspur

    That’s a good date.

  • HorizonChaser

Is it delayed in Europe because of the reshuffle there?!? :0

  • Vaughn Chung

June 36? What sorcery is this?!

    • HorizonChaser

You will never get this! NEVER!

    • Hahah sorry, I’ve been stressed trying to get everything packed for E3. It’s fixed now.

      • HorizonChaser

Awww! There goes half our fun.

      • CydeFxt

Man, we might’ve never got to play if we had to wait till the 36th of June!!!

  • bistricky

Where have I heard this before …… Want this game and hope it succeeds but it has flew over prior release dates without a whimper

    • Bob Charlie

      One release date, not several.

  • HorizonChaser

And that amazing new game you wanted is coming out February 30th!

  • Sherlock_for_Wii_U

June 36th is my most favorite day of all years.

  • Ducked

As many delays this game has had it better be good :p

    • Bob Charlie

It only had one delay that was supposed to last “a few weeks.”

  • That guy who hates Spike

No it’s not. It’s getting delayed again. We all know it.

  • Bob Charlie

The first game I’ve ever helped kick start! So excited it’s finally on its way!
Yacht Club Games was way off with their original March 31st release date.

    • thedeciderU

  • Zuxs13

been looking forward to this game for a while, definitely will down load it day one, with the eShope points i earned from mario kart and Pikmin 3.

  • thedeciderU

hell yes i am. hell yes.

  • Michael Hancock

    It’s about goddamn time.

  • Roadkill409

I am looking forward to this game. I did not mind the delay if it meant a better game. Everything has to feel right in the game, especially for a retro looking game like this. It would be cool if it came in a “box” like the picture above.

    • slush_puppie

if you backed the initial kickstarter project with $50 or more then you DO get the box pictured above (or very similar).

      • Roadkill409

Bummer, I did not find out about this game until after it was over. But very cool for the people who got it.
