In a recent announcement on Twitter, developer Shin’en has revealed that their new Wii U game will be revealed in just a few days. We’ve gotten some hints about what the team is working on a few times in the past, as the development team has spoken about the power of the Wii U and what they plan on utilizing the console to produce, but now we’ll have a more concrete look at what they’ve been working on for the past year.

The team has been working on a brand new Wii U engine with their game, so we expect to see the announcement revolve partially around that information as well.

  • RyuNoHadouken

i wonder what it will be?? hmmmmmmmmmm

  • Lil J Moore

    Can’t wait

  • IvΓ‘n Enrique Garcerant Tafur

Any idea what type of game will be?

    • Super Buu

I’m ready to bet it is a Racing game in which case it will most likely be a sequel to Fast Racing League (Best WiiWare game out there) given they have responded to a comment saying when will there be a new F-Zero game by saying they are doing something(Don’t remember how they said it)

  • Ace

Please let it be something really good! I don’t know what they have done in the past.

EDIT: I looked them up and they are the ones who did Nano Assault.

  • Super Buu

Fast Racing League 2, I’m calling it now.

    • wober2

      Fun! Fun! Mini golf 2…?

  • Daniel Gonzalez

I suppose I am a bit curious as to what. If they are going to tell us in a few days, wouldn’t it be better post an article when the time comes? Regardless, keep us posted.

  • Jon

I’m looking forward to this announcement. Hopefully they don’t let me down πŸ™‚

  • wober2

Exciting! I still haven’t played Nano Assault, looks good just not usually my favorite type of game.

    • ItzameyaToad

You should think about giving it a try it is a blast. Not sure why they are against demos on some of there games haha because I was in the same boat as you, I wasn’t sure if I would like it and was hesitant to spend $10 on it but I am glad I did as it is a great game especially if you like arcade like games.

  • The Clockwork Being

Shin’en: Well we asked Nintendo and they said yes . We are making a new F-Zero GX with alot of what the fans wanted. Over 72 tracks plus those from past games from past games and that were scrapped from past games. 12 more characters. And 2 story modes per characters. A character maker for online. As well as the ability to customize vehicles. The online play is to be included with the same number of players as F-Zero GX. Since we wanted fans to feel like the GX game, we have made a custom Wii U controllers that has the shape of Gamecube controller and all its attributes. All this running at a constant 1080p at 60fps.

Pardon my fantaisies. Can`t wait to see what their game is. Hopefully it looks great and isn`t a letdown. Let`s also hope it will be release soon.

    • Super Buu

Boy, do I wish we had a new F-Zero for Wii U. Mario Kart is great but F-Zero is on a whoooole other level.

      • Nintedward

Nintendo is crazy to neglect Star fox and F-zero, not to mention other franchises like Wave race and 1080 etc….
You could do so many interesting things with Star fox or f-zero. It almost upset me when Miyamoto said that it was difficult to come up with a new idea for F-zero…. The man is the greatest game dev of all time, and he can’t think of a new idea for a game that hasn’t been renewed since Gamecube. I mean just HD and Online would 100% reinvigorate F-zero and Starfox, let alone new gameplay ideas.

        • Super Buu

I know right. There so much to do with F-Zero and Star Fox (I’ve written a whole article on my blog about new ideas that could be implemented in Star Fox). Bringing both these series back will restore the relationship between many Nintendo fans and Nintendo as well.

        • ItzameyaToad

By Miyamoto saying that he is basically saying he has no intrest in putting in effort to make another F-Zero, not that he can’t think of any new ideas he just most likely has no interest. Which is fine of course seeing as his plate is full as it is but that doesn’t mean Nintendo should block other capable studios from making an F-Zero game.

          • C4

F-Zero doesn’t need Miyamoto. Before downvoting me, let me continue πŸ™‚ . Miyamoto should work on Pikmin, maybe Mario but other then that putting new ideas on the table (or flipping them) and of course new IPs – racing games need less creativity when it comes to core gameplay mechanics. From that point of view I also understand what Miyamoto say, F-Zero doesn’t need much new and fresh input. “Just” the known type of gameplay with lots of improvements and polish and of course good track design IMHO.

        • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah, they dont need to make it too new either. Just beef up the old ones with different tracks.

        • Rinslowe

I would actually do almost, nearly, mostly anything for a new Wave Race title…

      • Agent721

They’d bring back a lot of older Nintendo fans with that one. I truly hope Nintendo land isn’t the last we’ve seen of F- zero this gen.

    • Magnus Eriksson

I will probably dream about this tonight. Thank you!

      • The Clockwork Being

        Good dreams then Magnus.

      • Merrfn

Then you shall wake up, get a box of tissues and then punch a hole in the wall because you wish that it was real…

    • Julio

      If only…..

  • Jordan Fata

Is it going to be a downloadable eShop game for aroung $15 or is it going to be a full retail game for $60?

    • Magnus Eriksson

a remake for 80 bucks probably

  • Eric

This could be quite promising! I loved Nano Assault so hopefully we’ll get something great announced.

  • Nintedward

What ever it is, it’s almost certain to squeeze the Wiiu graphically! These guys have talked none stop about the Wiiu’s power and how it is indeed, significantly better than Current gen systems when used properly.

    • Magnus Eriksson

Probably a remake of some old platformer, nothing to get excited over. A qualified guess is that this will be a remake of Urban Champion or CluClu Land as those was recently released on VC. Probably the same game upscaled to 1080p… There, no no one will have to high expectations and will be happy no matter what πŸ™‚

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Most likely. It would make sense. Also doubt it’ll be something that will squeeze the Wii U graphically. I think some of us on here are getting too ahead of ourselves.

        • ItzameyaToad

Why do you not think it will be something to squeeze the Wii U graphically? I ask in all seriousness. I don’t personally believe it will push the Wii U all the way but I do think the game will push the Wii U harder than Nano Assualt Neo and most third party games on the Wii U right now. I am basing this of course on the statements from Shin’nen saying they could push the Wii U harder than they did with Nano Assualt Neo. Time will tell.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Exactly. It’s not going to be something groundbreaking as John Andalora said. I’m sure it’ll look better than Nano Assault Neo, but it won’t really be a big jump.

You’re right, time will tell. I’m not saying this won’t be a good title or anything, but never believe what a developer tells you until you see some gamplay trailers. I’ll reserve judgment until I see some game action.

          • ItzameyaToad

I agree we should not get our hopes up and reserve judgement’s until after we see the game in action as devs can sometimes stretch reality.

        • CMB

Shinen is master with the wii u’s hardware, they will make graphically amazing game.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s a pretty bold statement. I would agree with you if that was a fact instead of an opinion.

        • Rinslowe

I wouldn’t doubt these guys actually. Used to be Abyss very well known from the Amiga and PC demoscenes, have a ton of experience and expertise and have historically proven themselves on almost all Nintendo platforms since GBC.
Their titles are generally known to push the hardware and are crazy good at what they do. Nano Assault Neo for eg. weighs in at a measly 50MB… That in itself deserves at least a little respect right?

They’ve also assisted in various roles for other studios on PC and current gen systems so again, they know their stuff. But more importantly they know how get the best out of any given hardware for the least amount of cost to resources which they have proven time and time again.
Look them up, you’ll be surprised what you find.

      • Nintedward

Absolutely not. I think you’re mistaking Shin’en for someone else. Their new wiiu game will almost certainly not be an upscaled remake of an old platformer.

it will be 3D and graphically intense. Mark my words.

        • Magnus Eriksson

I actually believe you. Im just picking a fight as usually. To be serious my hopes are high for F-Zero or something like that.

          • CMB

            Me too

    • DragonSilths

Last Gen you mean. Wii U is the only current gen console right now.

      • Magnus Eriksson

Excactly, but good luck to explain that here πŸ˜€

      • Gregg

Wrong. Both 360 & PS3, are Sony & Microsofts Current Generation of hardware

        • DragonSilths

8th gen has started. There fore 8th gen is current gen. 360 and PS3 are LAST GEN THEY ARE 7TH GEN. By your logic the Dreamcast is still current gen since its the latest system by Sega…

          • Gregg

So, Dreamcast is still supported and on the market, TODAY? Cool.

          • DragonSilths

Yeah, you can buy Dreamcast games online still and such.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Not to mention homebrew games. Even a few indie developers are even making games for it from time to time.

          • LopsidedPasta

No actual company is making games for a console that ceased circulation almost a decade ago. Come on.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

You apparently don’t do research. Lol. NG.DEV.TEAM, RedSpotGames and Senile Team being the most notable. You can look them up for more info.

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_commercially_released_independently_developed_Dreamcast_games (All independent developed games)

There’s other articles if you look around via google or whatever search engine you use.

          • Gregg

            Sent from a mobile device.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Well, its Sonys and Microsofts next generation systems (as they are not released yet), but they belong to this generation that was started with WiiU. When Wii U was launched it also ended the last current generation (Wii, PS3 and XBox360). Nintendos Next generation system is not released yet, and if it will or when it will its atleast five to six years into the future.

Last gen: Consoles that belongs to the last generation. That is the seventh generation.

Current gen: Consoles that belongs to this generation. That is the eight generation.

Next generation: Consoles that belongs to next generation, they are not here yet. That will be the ninth generation.

“The eighth generation of video game consoles includes Nintendo’s Wii U, released on November 18, 2012, the PlayStation 4, to be released on November 15, 2013,[1] and Microsoft’s Xbox One to be released on November 22, 2013.[2][3] These video game consoles follow the previous seventh generation: Nintendo’s Wii, Sony’s Playstation 3 and XBox 360.”

          • Rinslowe

You could have just separated the generations by 7th, 8th etc… without the spiel as I’m sure all other posters are already clear on this as a fact.

Those who try to confuse themselves with Wii U is last gen or next gen while making a subjective comparison to any other system is doing just that… Confusing themselves…

The rest of us will choose fact. Wii U is simply an 8th gen console.
Even the term “current” gen is a matter of personal opinion as that can effectively cover any system still supported on the market and through mainstream outlets.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Its not a matter of opinion. It IS current gen by definition. If you want argue about this you could do that how much you want, you wont be right any way. Last, current and next is excactly what it means. If you disagree, fine. But then you are wrong.

          • Rinslowe

I think ‘by definition” is too strong for fact mate, but hey if you really read my post then you’d know that I actually agree Wii U “IS” current gen.
Just not for the same reason as “by definition” because that would need to be more a general consensus of opinion…
It is by “definition” however an 8th generation console by Nintendo…

          • Magnus Eriksson

The meaning of the words next, current and last is not defined by opinion, it is definitions that concerns temporal positions. I am here now, yesterday I ate a burger tomorrow I will apply for a job. Its not matters of opinions, its a matter of tense in past, now and future. If people disagree, then its only because they dont understand this.

But you are right that people tend to use the terms that way, but they use it wrong. Its really no dispute or controversy, its only lack of understanding.

          • Rinslowe

“The meaning of the words next, current and last is not defined by opinion”

They are here, when discussing consoles.

Although if you are just talking about the definitions of next, current and last literally in and of themselves then I would be inclined to agree… Nice description.

When discussing products however, it’s not defined and requires generally agreed consensus.
Current gen systems are whatever is on the shelves in major stores and outlets yesterday, today and tomorrow and the next day and so on until they are no longer supported by both/ either software development or mainstream stores and outlets.

The only defined way to describe generation correctly without refute is by no’ order of release relevant to the individual manufacturer or group of manufacturers.

Hence Wii U can be said to be 8th generation.

          • Magnus Eriksson

So PS2 and PS3 was both current gens when both of them was supported? You are wrong, the other guy is right. This is the eight gen.

          • Gregg

They were, until the release of PS3 & 360. This is a hilarious conversation. And please name all 8 Generations of Sony & Microsoft systems. Lol

        • LopsidedPasta

Current Gen right now is kind of in a limbo state. Current Gen consists of two 7th generation consoles that have not had their successors released yet, and one 8th gen console that HAS been released, and will be on the market for a good decade. We’re currently mid-transition of generations. When The PS4 and Xbone are released, the ‘current gen’ will be the PS4, Xbone, and Wii U, with the 360, PS3, and Wii becoming “past gen”

          • Gregg

The point is. Who cares. Its terms used to sell you stuff. A system is a system. The latest system out, by a company is there Current system, the system coming next, by that company, is the NEXT generation of that system. Media & Companies, throw the word around for $$$ and reads. It means nothing. WiiU is: WiiU. There is no Spec, Etc, that makes its this Gen or that Gen. It’s Nintendo’s Current generation of hardware. Same for any other console currently active and supported by the company. Nothing less, nothing more

          • LopsidedPasta

Um, no. I have never heard a company use the phrase “8th gen” at a reveal or pax or E3, and if they did, it was never a HUGE point. The concept of console generations was made by US. The consumers.

          • Gregg

            Lol. Good one.

          • Rinslowe

It’s the general understanding of what “current gen” means is the thing in limbo.

    • Sydney Ultrasyd

They are from Demoscene, they are beasts when it comes to hardware indeed ! Their little shooter for Wii U was very good looking, and only something like 80 Mb

  • Cyberus

Haven’t heard of these guys. But from all the good response’ must’ve made some pretty great stuff. Anyone mind filing me in?

  • Nuno

Most suggestions sound good, but to be honest I’d love a brand new IP right now πŸ™‚

  • Elitepwnsface

They have a track record of no games that interest me. So i can’t get excited for this. Probably another one of those games.

  • InterTreble

Far better than any EA porting. The “worst American company” can only learn from people like Shin’en. They are who I call “game developers”.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      You sound very disgruntled.

  • John Andalora

Shin’en? You mean that company that’s known for Nano Assault. Nano Assault Neo, FAST Racing League and Maya the Bee?

    …Oh Gooooooooooood….

Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to hear that a new game might be coming out, but I’m not getting my hopes up for anything exceptional or groundbreaking.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      My thoughts exactly.

      • John Andalora

It’s like the difference between PF Chang frozen food and authentic Chinese food.
It’s sort of the same thing, but it’s never nearly as satisfying.

  • Nintenjoe82

I’m not buying it because he said ‘then’ instead of ‘than’

Just kidding, I hope they’re making F-Zero HD rather than a sequel to FAST but I don’t really want to get carried away with this wish because I’ll end up disappointed. I’d even be happy if they made a F2P F-Zero or Waverace!

  • leemass25

funny how i posted this on the sonic story yesterday lol keep up wiiudaily :). but shud be interesting to see what it is.

  • mojack411

Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed Nano Assault but if it’s just another space shooter, I”m gonna be kinda disappointed. Hope it’s a new racing game like a lot of people are asking for.

    • Baum γ€Œγƒ„γƒͺー」

They’re doing way more than just stuff like Nano Assault (wich is btw no space shooter)

  • Edawg

Nano Assault Neo was fantastic, I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the next game.

  • bizzy gie

Can’t wait to see what it is.

  • Baum γ€Œγƒ„γƒͺー」

I’m pretty pumped for Shin’en’s (that looks strange lol) new game.
They’re maybe THE best studio of the smaller second party devs and they ALWAYS managed to tickle the most out of the consoles’ architectures AND combine it with really good game mechanics/ideas

  • Thomas Fitzgibbon

    Jett Rocket 2!!

  • HYPE!!!HYPE!!!HYPE!!!

  • discuss

Perhaps it’s handy to include who Shin’en is in your article …. do I really need to google it? -.-

  • Squid

    F-Zero, Gooby plz

  • Justagamer

Awesome! Any new Wii U games is always good news for us nintendo fans

  • Chronic Gang

Can someone tell me what games they have made in the past

  • Kirbyomega

What other things have Shinen worked on??

  • demann78

I hope its not a racing game

  • Madmagican

They’ve piqued my interest; I just hope they don’t let me down

  • Alan Schurle

I just hope that, whatever it is, the game has multiplayer. Preferable offline split screen in addition to online, since I’m a huge fan of gaming w/ buddies, old-school style

  • farrellbr

I hope it is a great adventure game

  • Nintenjoe82

I hope this means we’re about to get an exciting new Nintendo Direct

  • TheGamerGeek128

I’m excited. Nano Assault Neo is arguably one of the best looking games currently available on the Wii U, and that was a LAUNCH title, not to mention that they’ve said in the past that they didn’t feel it does the hardware any justice. Here’s hoping for FAST: Racing League 2.

  • Jeovany

Wonder what the game will be. Probably something at least decent coming from Shin’en

  • Chronic Gang

Based on their track record it just might be a low end game or something but still can’t wait to see what they have cooking up, hopefully i won’t be disappointed,

  • C.S. Bailey

I’m not expecting this game to break any graphical barriers, but I’m sure whatever it is will run as smooth as silk and look pretty at the same time. As much as I would love a new shooter, I hope they have something else in mind.

  • Saikyo

where are you, a few days have passed!!!!

  • TaintedXGamer

Shantae In 3D (cell shaded ish?) and HD πŸ˜›
