A few months ago we told you about Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, which was in IndieGoGo project from Big Deez Productions in order to bring back the legendary SNES title, Shaq Fu. The campaign has been successfully funded and despite sharing the name of the SNES title, the team hopes to make a legitimate fighting game in order to redeem Shaq’s name.

Check out the teaser trailer for the game above, which is probably one of the most cheesy things I’ve seen in a while. The game is currently targetting all major consoles current and last gen, as well as the PC. There’s no estimate on release date. Did you help bring this project to life? Are you excited to play it? Let us know in the comments.

    Good God, no.

    • Serria

      My sentiments exactly…

    • uPadWatcher

At least it’s not published by Electronic FARTS!

      • Peter Lythaby

Do you mean it COULD be good?? 😉

        • Gam

          1. No EA = No milking, no shit, no DLC shoving you to the face. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a complete game.

          2. They are concerned about redeeming what many considered crap, so you can tell they are working very hard on perfecting the game.

          3. If the game is really good, then this has to be one of the best second reboots since…I dunno, The Great Video Game Crash of 1983?
Also, as a bonus Big Deez Productions would either rise to fame or fall hard, just like entrepreneurs such as Nintendo.

Everyone needs a second chanc lol

  • John Andalora

    You know what?
I want this game to be good.
In a world where every fighter game feels the ridiculous need to take itself too seriously (even the politics of Super Smash Bros have gotten a bit too serious) to have a fighting game just for shits and giggles that makes jokes at every turn and goes back to the anarchic fun of fighting games seems like a rather nice change.

Not advocating this game, but it would be nice to think that this won’t be complete crap.

    • Rinslowe

      True Enough! 🙂
If this game manages to provide decent gameplay and mechanics, while throwing in a few good laughs. Then I also think it’s worth supporting.

  • the_battery

I think this would be fun, just for the novelty of it. i don’t really care for shaq, but i would still get this (that is, if it looks good.)

  • devmiles

this should be in the section: 10 Worst Trends in Gaming Today

  • Gameonfool

Can I have a real reason to turn on my wii u.

  • daeglyth

I’m not sure why they think the SNES version was bad. I mean by today’s standards, sure, but back when it was relevant it was quite good.

    • Wighead

Humm, I’d say that even at that time it was bad. Don’t forget that cheesy games were fulll price in the 90’s and in Canada Snes games could go up to 80$ depending on the game (now most AAA games are 60-70$)… So it did cost a lot for a less than stellar game. It was a rental at most and I think I’m generous.

      • daeglyth

Well the story and pepsi ad placements were corny for sure, but the controls were tight and the AI was better than most fighter games of the time.

      • Stuff like Shaq Fu was rental territory. I think I actually owned like 8 or 10 snes games.

        • steveb944

I agree. I still own 20+ SNES titles, no Shaq.

    • I played it back in the day, but don’t remember much. It wasn’t bad, just another fighting game. It was kind of interesting that so many licensed adaptations were fighting games or beat-em-ups.

    • SinkyChan

hey, i know what you mean and all but to be honest i remember as a kid playing that and then playing sf2 there was a huge difference. it wasn’t as good, the mechanics were kind of wonky, but i get your point; as a kid i probably still played the shit out of it ’cause we were kids and games were just generally fun haha.

  • linkzero65

Well at least they brought it to wii u XD

I’m pretty sure this was one of the signs of the Apocalypse……
I pray to GOD he doesn’t rap in this game…. “LET’S GREEN EGG N’ HAM IT”!

  • palomino blue

    Digital only. $10-$15 USD.

  • RyuNoHadouken

  • Teves153

    1.15 YOU BETTER NOT!

  • TheWichi

I so happy that is coming to Wii U Im going to buy it for sure!

  • CydeFxt

It’s pretty stupid that Shaq went to KS to fund this game when he could’ve funded it himself. Whatever, i never played the Shaq-fu of back in the day so i don’t really care for this game. But for those of you that are interested, i hope it’s good.

  • anthony optimo

Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City should brought back too, for the sake of bringing back crappy games starring basketball athletes.

  • thedeciderU

looks like another crap game for the eshop.

  • Itzo

This game should include Shaqs discography cause no way am I buying this game without spitting that hot fire.

  • Austin Cabrera

All y’all are a bunch of whine bags

  • Arthur Jarret

Finally! The amount of frustration felt while playing the original – wanting it to be good – will pay off!

  • rp17

At least they lowered the console versions down from the million dollar stretch goal…

  • TheGamerGeek128

Of course the real is question when are we getting Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City Reimagined?

  • Enumerating Wishes

Kind of hard for me to get over how muscular Shaq is. Especially his back lol. He was nowhere near this big in the SNES version.

  • steveb944

I’m glad I forgot about this

  • Iflywright

Shaq, Diesel, Superman, The Big Aristotle,
I hope they allow you to use this as his alternate skin:

  • ufg

    Hah. Looks stupid. I’ll buy.

  • meh

isn’t this supposed to be a beat ’em up?

wish it would have remained a 1v1 fighter or maybe tag

  • sanic gtgfast

can’t shaq fund this ame by itself/ doesn’t he have money for this? why help fund it when theres no need for. he doesnt want to take risk it seems

  • This game will be crap.

  • disqus_f0m0KOHNzQ

i think it has to do with the fact i am a jerk but i think it would of been funny if they got all that money and shaq said no he didn’t want to be part of it
