Last week we told you that the folks at Precursor Games were planning on relaunching their Shadow of the Eternals Kickstarter and wanted to know what other platforms people would like to see the game on. Apparently, the other platform is the PlayStation 4. The team has relaunched their Kickstarter with a much smaller goal this time as well. Instead of $1.3 million, the team is only seeking $750k.

For those who are unaware, Shadow of the Eternals is the spiritual successor to the GameCube exclusive Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. The development team features many of the same people who worked on the original game.

  • This is a much more feasible goal. Hope they can make it!

  • WiiUisgaming

THere is nothing about PS4 in the website; however there is for pc

    • “And now, as Precursor Games is an officially licensed PlayStation┬«4 developer, we have added the next-gen console as a stretch goal.”

Check the stretch goals section of the Kickstarter I linked.

      • WiiUisgaming

You are right. I didn’t see it . Sorry

  • TheImaj

I guess I can find at least $20 somewhere..

  • Nintenjoe82

I hope this gets canned and Nintendo fund and help a proper ED sequel with precursor. It’s not because I’m opposed to it being on other formats but I think that there’s less chance of it going wrong with Ninty looking over their shoulder and checking up on the money.

The gamepad would make a perfect “Tome of Eternal Darkness” allowing for casting ‘magick’, reading autopsies and other book based gameplay.

    • The Clockwork Being

I want to own this on Wii U since it is the spiritual successor to a Gamecube exclusive title. As long as a Wii U version is to be made then I am fine with it. I could care less for the rest.

      • Ducked

Yeah, most PlayStation gamers don’t even know this is a sequel…

        • Merrfn

Most PlayStation gamers are going, “Hey it’s a game lets have it on my console even though I will never end up buying or playing it!”

          • Ducked

    • Will.F. Martinez

I’m hoping for the same thing, Nintendo should’ve funded and published this long time ago. But if not I’ll still get this for the wiiu. The game is still worth getting.

    • MujuraNoKamen

Agreed, I don’t mind other platforms getting it, I’m happy for them if it happens but as you said it’s more likely to go well if Nintendo are keeping watch and I’d much rather this be a true sequel rather than a spiritual one. It’ll probably be great either way but it would be better for them to continue the story with the Tome of ED, sanity meter, the Roivases etc rather than taking all those ideas then changing the name čÖé

  • Mr. J

I already own a wii u and I’ll be getting the ps4 later this year so I’ll have to choose which console to get it on.

Edit: the only reason I’m getting a ps4 is for Star Wars battlefront and kingdom hearts.

    • Zombie_Andrew

Knowing that Disney are now in charge of Star Wars, and they have a good relationship with Nintendo, it’s likely that they’ll force (pun intended) EA to bring it out on Wii U, or by then Wii U sales would have picked up enough for a port

    • Dez

Probably best to avoid Battlefront these days, the second one wasn’t great and EA is now the publisher, so I can’t imagine what ungodly bs they are going to do to it.

Then there is the matter of Square. Personally SE really has fallen from grace, Monolith is basically the new Square. I haven’t seen much mind blowing content from SE in a long time especially with their huge emphasis on mobile devices. They have that great looking new game engine, but they have gutted FF and keep reusing that stupid broad Lightning. It is has gotten so bad that people actually believe Lightning is the first and only heroine in a FF game. I just have a lot of bad blood with SE, be careful with how this goes.

There is also a chance it might appear on Wii U. It is nowhere near ready for release and I wouldn’t say there is no chance to see it on Wii U. Besides, consoles at launch always have tons of issues, that is why I refuse to buy a new console at launch. My PS3 is evidence why I shouldn’t, I’m fairly certain it is defective. Save yourself some money and buy a PS4 later if KH isn’t released on Wii U.

      • sd

Its funny Your 1st sentence put me off the game in a huge way, you said “EA is now the publisher”. I was thinking of getting this on my x-1 but I was surprised by my own reaction to reading EA.

      • Linskarmo

I liked SW Battlefront 2, actually, and hope the new one is an excellent addition to Star Wars. If it turns out to be a blast while retaining Star Wars spirit, then I hope it comes to the Wii U too. Otherwise, I wouldn’t care about it.

        • ConCity Soldier

Star Wars Battlefront 2 was definitely good! I think it was the first game I got to play online multiplayer with actually, and it was a great experience. But I’m not sure if it was this game or NBA 2K8 that my first online experience started. Either way it was the second game if not the first one. I realized how awesome the online experience was with this game, and SW Battlefront 2 online was awesome.

  • This Kickstarter is much better than the previous one. It no longer follows the episodic format, the asking price is more accessible, and David Hayter is voicing the lead character!

  • flovv

Did I miss something or is this coming to Wii U as well ?
    quote from kickstarter side:
“Developed with CryENGINE 3 for PC (Windows) and Wii U.”

    • flovv

I guess I did miss that is was allready coming to Wii U.
But CryEngine 3? Wasn’t that something EA didn’t want to use for the Wii U?

      • CyanideInsanity

It was with crysis 3, not the engine. Crytek owns the engine, not EA, but only decides who can release commercial games, not which platforms.

But yeah, issues between nintendo and EA caused the wii u port of crysis 3 to stop, which kind of sucks because they had it running and almost ready for launch.

  • Fred

I hope they pull stunts like having the IR blaster on the game pad randomly turn off your tv

  • Chris Aita

I will still get it on Wii U as it’s a spiritual successor to a GameCube game, but it’s nice to see the developers expand their options for the consumers.

  • MichaelEhrgott

I’ll get it on the Wii U as it will be my only console until The Witcher 3 comes out. Then I’ll get a PS4 too. It will be worth it for just that game alone.

  • Ducked

Nintendo of America just confirmed that Call of Duty Ghosts is heading to the Wii U

    • uPadWatcher

Now THAT is good news. Look forward to purchase Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U as well as the look of a new engine.

      • Ducked

Yes the new engine part is very exciting!

        • LordiMcKill

          And the new Fish AI!

          • Ducked

            YES! FISH!

          • MetroidZero

The Fish AI was ported over from Super Mario 64 lol

      • PlaysWithSquirrels

Except it isn’t a new engine, it’s just slightly modified.

  • starwars360

There votes in since said Wii U is higher votes then PC and PS4. Xbox One is lower.

So I think this game should be on Wii U, PS4 and PC.

No Xbox One. I cannot wait for Xbox One yeah but this game should be Wii U, PS4 and PC.

  • I hope the project gets canned. If it’s not going to be exclusive to the Wii U then I don’t want it to get released at all. Hopefully Nintendo will stand if the way of this since they own the copyright to the Sanity Meter aspect of the game. I am hoping they can’t reach the funds and Nintendo steps in with publisher rights. Cause this game will only reach the quality of the original if Nintendo is involved.

    • CyanideInsanity

I’m sorry, but you sound like such an ass saying that… You may think they ‘scammed’ backers and nintendo out of a great exclusive, but since its announcement they’ve said there was always the chance for it to be ported elsewhere.

Honestly it sounds like a great game, so I just want to play the god damn game…

  • JeanPaul

Damn I think the WiiU needs as many exclusives as it can get especially since it doesn’t get all third party titles.

  • TaintedXGamer

fair enough at least there’re Not stretching the goal 2 the Xbone…

  • The Libyan

I’m fine with this coming to PS4. But I’m worried that now we’re going to have PS fans shoving the ” WE HAVE THE BETTER VERSION HURR DURR” comments in our faces….

    • ChariotMan7

      Right Man!! SMH

    • Enigma

      But it’s true?

  • LordiMcKill

So basically, if PS4 owners want this game on their console, they’d be funding it for the Wii U version first? I like the sound of that.

  • To all hoping the project gets canned, that’s not positive thinking. Now since the funding goal is still very steep in regards to kickstarter, it has a probably of simply not making the stretch goal. If it gets canned then the game might not see a release at all.

  • Vortex

Denis Dyack is back to scam money!!! Diference this time he is scamming the consumers hard earned cash rather then a publishers.

  • Leo

Lol it’s Denis Dyack capitalism y’all

  • Sidney Majurie

Having a PS4 stretch goal is smart. Even though there are Nintendo Gamecube fans who want a “sequel” to Eternal Darkness, there are way more Sony fanboys who would love take take the console exclusivity away from Nintendo. It may actually help the chance of the game being funded for Wii U, even if it doesn’t reach the PS4 stretch goal…

  • t3g

Their online poll had the Wii U win by a LARGE margin, so hopefully we get it. I still think its silly that these companies are asking for money when they are already big and established. The biggest abuser is Double Fine and I won’t fund or buy from them due to that.
