In a recent interview with GamesIndustry, Scott Moffitt of Nintendo of America has stated that the Wii U is on the verge of a turning point, thanks to a strong holiday season and the upcoming games shown during the E3 presentation. Moffitt also mentions the Amiibo initiative as a turning point for the Wii U, stating that strong content already available and coming in the future will turn gamers into Wii U owners. We had the price cut in August , and then we had Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D World, which really drove sales that first holiday, and on 3DS we haven’t looked back. So we’ve had momentum ever since that first holiday and we’ve got now 260 some games in the library and some of the best, most highest rated, most highest quality content we’ve ever had on that platform. Everything we launched seems to do above forecast and surprises us on the positive side. As I look at what we have coming this holiday, now with Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros, plus the innovation of Amiibo, I think we are right at that tipping point where we have a lot of great content that is about to be released for that platform that’s going to tempt gamers into buying the system. From the comments I’m reading online, and following gamers’ comments, I think there are a lot of people that are going to have a hard time resisting buying a Wii U once Smash Bros comes out. I think that’s going to be a major hardware driver for us. So that’s the narrative we hope that plays out and that I think we are starting to see play out. Of course several of the titles that Nintendo showcased at E3 this year won’t be coming out until 2015, but those that will be available for this holiday season include Bayonetta 2 and Super Smash Bros., which are two of the most highly anticipated releases for the Wii U this year. local_offer amiibo Nintendo scott moffitt wii u stars Further Reading Here’s how insanely big that new Pikach The new Detective Pikachu Amiibo is huge and ActivesiN Nintendo is 100% going in the right direction with Wii U now CEObrainz If the Wii U could pull a 3DS in terms of numbers I’d say the console did more than well this generation as I don’t expect too much in terms of sales numbers. However Nintendo’s handheld still has potential to see a bit more, especially with more Pokémon games and Smash Bros and if they release a Super Metroid 2 then sales would leap again. Officer Raichu if that happens ill have a heart attack CEObrainz The Wii U is going to have so many titles that I want to buy, I’m not worried at all about their line-up at all. That being said, it would still be nice to get more multi-plat games and on-schedule 3rd party games *cough*Ubisoft*cough* URFTBOUND4LIFE . Ubi is on my most hated list, right now. They got a game that’s ready to go and flat out refuse to release because they want the Wii U to do another price drop so the install base can be “larger”. They are full of it! The Wii U has over 6 million users which is more than XB0X1 users so what’s the problem? They keep making excuses after excuses, either put up or shut up Ubi, Tired of the BS Petri Its a “party “game””, so I doubt we are missing out on much. Decker Shado Reasons why I’ve decided to boycott Ubi. Not just “oh, I won’t get this game.” No, I won’t get ANY game from Ubi, on any platform. Pussyfoot around because you’re afraid to lose money, I understand… but to have a completed game and just sit on it? When the biggest complaint holding the Wii U back is lack of third party support? I’m going to have to invent new derogatory terms just because of this. URFTBOUND4LIFE . I swear, they make the dumbest decisions over there. They keep self-sabotaging themselves over and over again. It sickens me.I once loved this company and it’s games. Now they’re just being childish and petty. I’d have more respect for them if they honest to god tried with the Wii U, but in reality ,most of their problems they caused on themselves(not saying Nintendo is blameless themselves). Delaying games, withholding content and making it Wii U versions less desirable for user who already own other platforms did in fact cut their chances of making bigger profits on the platform. greengecko007 “but to have a completed game and just sit on it? When the biggest complaint holding the Wii U back is lack of third party support?” It may seem strange at first, but I saw someone else make this analogy the other day. If you wanted to set up a lemonade stand on the side of the road, would you do it as soon possible, with no regard to the amount of traffic on the road, or wait until there was a substantial amount of traffic? Although the traffic may eventually come after you’ve already set up shop, who wants to buy old lemonade that’s been sitting out? Likewise, often times games sell very well when they are first released, and then die out over time. Obviously Ubisoft would rather their game sell better with a higher Wii U install base before it dies out and is inevitably forgotten. Decker Shado The problem is the lemonade is already sitting out in the sun. They’re selling it on 5 streets already, and it’s brewed and ready to go on street six.. but no. Lemonade isn’t really be best analogy come to think of it.. games don’t “go bad.” They commonly sell more at first and not so much months down the road, spare certain franchises. The problem here, is that even if the Wii U version is bug free, has the best controls, and through some order of black magic even has 2x better graphics… it will still sell like crap. That’s been the case ever since they decided to delay the Wii U version and the Wii U version only. Whoever wants it already has it. If they were just afraid of losing money, they could have released it digital only on Nintendo platforms, to save themselves the manufacturing costs. However, they opted to just delay it entirely despite it being ready to go. I’m sorry if you’ve got some kind of videogame Stockholm syndrome, but no, we don’t deserve to be treated like this. Ubi will never see another dime from me. They can choke on their lemonade. Daniel Carvalho That’s exactly how I feel about it. It’s not our fault their games don’t sell, they brought this upon themselves. If you want a better analogy on this, just read my comment above. Third parties educated us into not getting their games on Nintendo platforms. greengecko007 “The problem is the lemonade is already sitting out in the sun. They’re selling it on 5 streets already, and it’s brewed and ready to go on street six.. but no.” I think you’re confusing Watch Dogs with the unannounced game Ubisoft claims they have finished but are waiting for the install base on the Wii U to grow. Watch Dogs for the Wii U is not finished, the other versions were prioritized over it. I find the lemonade analogy works quite well, because although technically games don’t “go bad”, there’s no denying that much fewer people buy old games than new games. Companies like Ubisoft see the majority of their sales while the game is new. How many people go out and buy last year’s model of Assassin’s Creed after a new one gets announced or released? “If they were just afraid of losing money, they could have released it digital only on Nintendo platforms, to save themselves the manufacturing costs. However, they opted to just delay it entirely despite it being ready to go.” So that they can make the most money on it. It’s not fair, but it is business. Daniel Carvalho Ubisoft made many mistakes. The first one was with Assassin`s Creed III: they decided they wouldn’t wait a single week to release their title so it could be a 3rd party launching title for the Wii U, instead encouraged gamers to not get a Wii U for that game, as they would’ve gotten it a week earlier for the console they already had (PS3 and Xbox 360). The second mistake was with Rayman Legends: they decided to postpone the game to 7 months later, 4 days before the launch date, only to make it multiplatform! The reason? Because their other Wii U exclusive title, ZombiU – a dark and obscure survival horror game, full of gore and tension, the complete opposite of a colorful and bright platformer – didn’t sell as much as they expected. They compared the sales of two completely different titles in order to decide if the latter one would sell or not, and made a last minute decision that threw fans who were expecting the game on the garbage! Rayman Legends was the System Seller, it was that game that showed more promise, even more than the games Nintendo itself developed, the one that used the Gamepad better than Mario, the most bright and colorful (a style that fits Nintendo’s image much more than dark and obscure games) game, and the single title Wii U owners at that time were expecting the most! It was the loss of that title that made the drought bigger, that generate the “Wii U has no games” trend. And they decided to postpone their launch to the same month as GTA V for the same platforms it was coming for. Result: Rayman Legends sold better on Wii U, and almost nothing for other consoles. Their third mistake came in the form of Watch_Dogs. Instead of launching the game, a multiplatform title, for all consoles at the same time, they decided to once again postpone the Wii U release. Who would buy their game on Wii U if they released, months before, the same game for other consoles that I already have? I’m not going to wait! And now, their latest mistake is this: we have the game, but we’re not giving you until more people get a Wii U. Seriously?! The console needs third party support, and being one of the few that supports it you don’t want to take advantage of that?! You don’t want to fill the gap between first party titles, gap that’ll make any title launched for the time being sell like crazy just because there is something out there to play?! When do you plan to release your game? The same month Square launches Final Fantasy VII remake?! I like to analyze the Nintendo – 3rd party relationship like this: 3rd party companies complain their titles don’t sell on Nintendo consoles, but they have educated us to not buy their games for Nintendo platforms. Namco Tales Studio for example: they launch a title with exclusivity for the Nintendo console; if the title sells fairly well, they analyze what the gamers liked and hated about that game, fix bugs and glitches, put more costumes, titles, artes and Hi-Ougi for more characters, add a couple of sidequests and release it for Sony’s console a year after the original launch date! Now, being a Tales of fan, why would I bother getting the Wii version if I know a much better one will be coming for another console? It’s the same with other companies that offer DLC, online multiplayer, deluxe versions and much more for Sony and Microsoft’s consoles, yet they remove all of that for the Wii U and sell the games for the same price as the other platforms! What Ubisoft is doing is exactly the same. They’re punishing Nintendo and the gamers who decided to buy a Wii U, expecting their installed base to increase when they teach us it’s better on the other side. It’s not like we don’t get third party games on Nintendo consoles because we’re Nintendo fans, it’s just that they taught us that it doesn’t compensate to. They educated us into not getting their games until they launch it for rival consoles! It’s all their fault! And they want to make it look like we and Nintendo are the bad guys in this relationship! The Clockwork Being Yeah when Ubisoft said that I felt like that really was a stab in the back. You have a finished exclusive Wii U game yet it won’t be release until the cheapest console on the market gets a second price drop even when the current bundle is a steal. Rinslowe Yeah that thing about Ubisoft is, twilight zone worthy stuff… o_O bistricky Scott’s right. 😀 Nintendoro I’ve already got Wii U and a nice collection of AAA games so I’m goooooooooooood. All I need now is the upcoming Zelda, Sonic Boom, Xenoblade X, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker and the new Project Zero Petri Forgot about Project Zero, shame they didn’t have anything on it on E3. How about Bayonetta 1+2? Officer Raichu Toad should have more recognition 😛 Rinslowe I’d like to agree, but I think it’s too early to say. All the pieces are coming together nicely, but it’s a pretty tight window and relies on a few things we just don’t know… How well will Hyrule Warriors do outside of Japan? Is the inclusion of Bayonetta 1 with Bayonetta 2 incentive enough to stimulate wide appeal? Does Mario Kart 8 continue to sell during these releases? There’s every reason to believe it can happen on all three accounts. But no way to know until each of those bridges are crossed. And Nintendo is a wild card when it comes to consistency. So here’s hoping the follow through. One thing I think is fair to assume at this point though. Smash is going to sell systems in the holiday season. And lots of em. TheSkeletonMan939 . He’s absolutely right. With so many exciting titles coming out now and in the near future, the Wii U can finally stand its own against the XBone and PS4. Rich Garriques lol wii u has been able to stand its own against those consoles. it has more games. its stupid gamers that care about casual games is why wii u gets no attention. matthew garcia Next Wii u game doesn’t come out til late September. What til then bistricky Not quite. Next third-party Wii U game: Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark (June 24th). Next 1st party game (I think) for the Wii U: Wii Sports Club (July 24th) Of course digital only games, like Shovel Knight (soon??) No matter, even with the low 3rd party support, the Wii U gets some (I can’t wait for Project Cars in November for the Wii U). Cheers 😀 matthew garcia None of those games will help sale Wii u. Transformers is multiplatform and will sale horribly on Wii u and indie games don’t sale consoles bistricky I do get what you mean and on the surface of it, you are right but consider this ……. Yes, I know Nintendo AAA first-party games will sell the bulk of consoles …. Yet, as the gaming catalogue gets larger for the Wii U, it adds more and more reasons for consumers to consider buying a Wii U. You might not think multi-platform games like Transformers or lets say Lego sells consoles …. but what is the big negative many have about the Wii U …. it doesn’t have enough 3rd party games (most being multi-platform). Am I right …. So, I won’t say that the new Transformers or any game for the Wii U won’t sell consoles …. 3rd party game Project Cars will definitely sell some Wii U’s. In my opinion, every game added for the Wii U will only benefit the Wii U and the gamer. I have two employees that went on vacation this week to California (from Caanda) to go to the Transformers Con. They have not bought a Wii U yet (even though I tell them they should) … the Transformers game will only help them with their potential decision to buy one. Cheers 😀 lonewolf You asked about what up until september and he answered I dont know why you complain day after day if you play games just play games. David Trail Yet games that do crap on PS4 matter? lonewolf Do not forget one piece which is really popular anime so many people will buy it. bistricky Oh yeah, Forgot about that one. Probably because it only comes as digital in North America. I really prefer retail disc games (I have about 50 already for the Wii U). What is the release date for One Piece for Wii U? Cheers 😀 TheSkeletonMan939 . That too. But there’s finally some popular franchises coming – Mario Kart boosted sales by like 600%, the new Zelda spin-off will sell well, and SSB4 will certainly spike Wii U sales. MetroidZero Inb4 Smash for Wii U delayed ’till Q1 2015 Rich Garriques so you fail to mention hyrule warriors is also coming out in september right? Rich Garriques and wheres the update that super gucamelee turbo championship edition is coming out july 2nd for wii u? Yuma Tsukumo Nintendo may have a slow start but i have a feeling they’ll have a very nice finish. Roadkill409 I hope you are correct. Rich Garriques get ready for one piece on wii u in july as well. DustinALedonne So we’ve had momentum ever since that first holiday and we’ve got now 260 some games in the library and some of the best, most highest rated, most highest quality content we’ve ever had on that platform. Everything we launched seems to do above forecast and surprises us on the positive side. http://sn.im/290xdj8 CydeFxt I think i’m gonna pick up an Amiibo to improve my game on Smash. D.M.T Oh you better believe that the Wii U is at a turning point. Those who said “Wii U is doomed” are gonna have to shut the fuck up sooner or later. There’s some things you shouldn’t do in life and underestimating Nintendo is one of them. You do not, I repeat, DO NOT underestimate Nintendo. Nintendo will prove you wrong sooner or later and you will look like a dumbfuck. matthew garcia People say turnaround but the next Wii u game doesn’t come out til late September. Sounds like more of the Same Petri What comes out September? I fell in to a depression when I realized that October is still over 3 months away. matthew garcia Hyrule warriors Petri Oh right, that might be worth a shot. I never liked Transformers, so I’m not buying the game. One Piece game releasing next month? I’m going to buy that. matthew garcia Yeah it looks interesting but I’m talking about games that will help sale consoles. Wii u has a big hill to climb and they need games that will push hardware badly Petri What games are coming to other platforms at this span of time? matthew garcia Last of us remake, Diablo3, Dragon age inquisition, Destiny, nhl15, fifa 15, sniper elite, natural doctrine Petri So remakes and multiplats, all of which I could get on PC or PS3, but I probably wont. matthew garcia Like I said better then having no games til September. Doesn’t matter If u don’t like them there gonna have high sale numbers Petri Maybe, but it is all that matters. Sales are for investors to worry about, which is why I do not see myself investing on gaming Though I do not see any of those games as a “system seller”. And I have more than enough to play until September, just bummed that Bayonetta is still so far apart. matthew garcia Obviously u care about sales to be in a discussion about the Wii u making a turnaround. That’s what this whole discussion is about. The turnaround Is more games that will turnaround the Wii u so It could sale more Petri Well, I wasn’t here for discussing about sales, just games. Of course I read the article. And that is true, but the prime point is to enjoy the games that you like, not to argue about sales numbers, or which console has more games that someone might like. So far, Nintendo is going to offer more than enough games, that I should like. If not, I have my PC for backup. David Trail One Piece, Pushmo, Lego Batman 3, Wii Sports Retail, Skylanders, Captain Toad, Zelda: Hyrule Warriors, Sonic Boom, Watch Dogs, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfighter, Project Cars, Guacamelee, Bayonetta 2 (Bayonetta 1 included), SSB for Wii U. Even more indie and virtual console titles! D.M.T That’s a shitty list of games that won’t help PS4’s library. Sport games are shit, Sniper Elite is not a great game, Diablo 3 is an old PC game that is superior on PC too and i dont think too many people care about Dragon Age and Natural Doctrine. The only decent game you mentioned is Destiny. matthew garcia Better then having no games til September. U may hate those games but u know a lot of other people will like them and they will sell great David Trail One Piece, Pushmo, Lego Batman 3, Wii Sports Retail, Skylanders, Captain Toad, Zelda: Hyrule Warriors, Sonic Boom, Watch Dogs, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfighter, Project Cars, Guacamelee, Bayonetta 2 (Bayonetta 1 included), SSB for Wii U. Even more indie and virtual console titles. Brandon Your listing all of the games coming to wii u, not the games coming before september. D.M.T Wii U has no games till September? Lol do some research before you talk to me. And how is having shitty games better than having no games? It’s the same shit. DragonSilths Destiny is the only thing good on that list. Dragon Age is meh. matthew garcia Last of us remake and new Dragon age game, Destiny, Diablo 3 enhanced edition, sniper elite 3, NHL15, fifa15, natural doctrine matthew garcia Transformers comes out before but It’s a multiplatform game that will sell like craps on Wii u so I won’t count that Superstick98 You gotta remember to pay attention to the 3rd parties and indies too though. Not just the 1st party games. If you look at it that way, Wii U has plenty to play. As for me, I have a huge backlog of games to get on Wii U. No drought for me. matthew garcia We’re talking about Wii u making a turnaround though and we all know 3rd party and Indies don’t sale Wii u’s. Only way Nintendo will sale is on 1st party and that’s not til late September Rinslowe Yeah it’s pretty sad. So far third party titles haven’t sold like they would on the other systems that are known to be more multiplatform friendly. But there are valid reasons for more than one title why anyone but the hardcore fan would not want to support that title/ s. But that’s not important for this discussion. What is important is that the third party sales issue, is an issue. But something strange looks to be happening. Nintendo has started ramp’in up their internal development and a game like Kart shows they may just have a shot at making the system a financial success, with a decent install base without broad third party support. I’m not saying that’s a good thing in the long run for Nintendo . But it is one way to bandage the current situation. Petri I do not have a drought. Just that I mixed October with August, and realized that I have to wait even longer for Bayonetta. There is not that many third party games coming, and indies I’m not that in to, I mostly get them only when they’re at discount, because I’m too lazy to research which of those are actually good. Fred Hyrule Warriors comes out in September DragonSilths Hyrule Warriors….I know something shitty. But it’s something. Petri I dont know, I have to play it first to form an opinion on it. I really liked 99 Nights, and it felt little like that, so I might like it. Brandon Hyrule warriors D.M.T More of the same huh? Maybe but tell me: what comes in October? And in November and December? There’s a drought until August for every console. PS4 still has no games and i know because i own a PS4 and XBO has no games either, that’s why i didnt buy it. DragonSilths Yes PS4 and Xbox One are having their 1 year game drought like the Wii U did last year, though the Wii U’s is almost 2 years of a drought. Doesnt change that all 8th gen consoles started off rough. David Trail I never had a drought with my Wii U. Look at my PS4 after 7 months though. DragonSilths Thats nothing. I count 1 game there. You got the deluxe ultra disc thats as big as 30 games stacked on top of each other. D.M.T Wii U is having a 2 year drought? Then how come I bought so many games for my Wii U? You sound ignorant or you’re just mad because I said PS4 has no games. DragonSilths You seem to be under the impression I am a PS4 gamer? I have no PS4 or Xbox One for that matter, I have a PC and Wii U. And yes the Wii U will have went 2 years with droughts all through out it. 1 game every 4 months is unacceptable. Yes there was alot of MEH games like Lego and Scribblenauts and such, but In almost 2 years we had DKC TF, Pikmin 3, Windwaker HD, and Super Mario 3D World. Those were the main MUST HAVES. David Trail I have never had a drought. D.M.T Wii U doesnt have a 2 year drought. Stop saying ignorant things. I have many games for Wii U and there’s still a lot more i need to buy. All you did was state your opinion, nothing you said was fact. DragonSilths Unless you work for IGN it is against the law and impossible to be ignorant. So sorry, but I am not ignorant. You’re just being a blind Nintendo fanboy. greengecko007 Upcoming PS4 games July 29th – The Last of Us remastered InFamous First Light – August Destiny – September FIFA 15 – September Skylanders Trap Team – October 5th Dragon Age Inquisition – October 5th The Evil Within – October 21st Assassin’s Creed Unity – October 28th Call of Duty Advanced Warfare – November 4th Little Big Planet 3 – November Now you could very well not be interested in any of these games, but to say that there aren’t any games coming out is just not true. I took the discretion of only listing the high profile games too. I didn’t bother with the likes of Just Dance, or Guacamole, etc. Daniel Gonzalez Fanboyism on this site never amazes me. Good list, btw. greengecko007 It’s great that the Wii U has an impressive list of exclusive content, which will only continue to grow, but unfortunately this game drought that has been a problem for a long time on the Wii U doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon. Not a major problem for owners of multiple consoles though, as some have pointed out. Daniel Gonzalez Pretty much. For a diehard Nintendo fan that sticks with Nintendo only consoles, it stands out as a major problem. Reminds me when I had the Gamecube. Great exclusives, but with little third party to fill in those gaps, you were waiting a while for newer titles to release. Thank god for PS2 during that time. I am a long time Nintendo fan, but I can’t say I support the Nintendo of today that much. They were a beast back then, though. Great 1st and third party to choose from. Change of direction certainly didn’t help matters at all. Rinslowe “Fanboyism on this site never amazes me.” I guess when something is at a minimum. It’s hard to amaze. o_O I’m sure you were actually trying to make a different point though, lol. It’s a real shame that although there a two or three major Nintendo fanboys of the overly optimistic kind here at Wii U Daily’s comment section – which btw – are outnumbered by the sheer amount of fair minded, rational posters. All you ever seem to fixate on is the minority. Wake up man. RennanNT I think you misunderstood his post. He said theres a drought till August. The October, Nov, Dec thing was that there will be a major game on Wii U on those months rather than there won’t be in the others.. And if you don’t count a remaster of a game released last year, you proved him right. greengecko007 The Last of US remastered is the next major release for the PS4. If we aren’t going to count it as an anticipated game just because it’s a remastering we may as well discount Wind Waker HD from Nintendo’s line up last year, which I think we both would agree would be erroneous given the success that it had. As for game droughts until August, Watch Dogs wasn’t that long ago, and there was a consistent release of games prior to that too. The game drought is a Wii U exclusive issue. RennanNT Everyone just played Last of Us is the difference, and in a reply to “more of the same” that seriously doesn’t count. I bet with you if Nintendo were to remaster Mario Galaxy this month and Twilight Princess in July, matthew post would be the same. I seriously don’t see why you’re being so defensive, though.. PS4 library is still lacking and 3 months without major games IS a drought, but everyone knows it won’t take long. greengecko007 I don’t mean to come across as defensive, at least not overbearingly so. But it is a ridiculous claim that the PS4 or Xbox One are experiencing, or will experience, a game drought like what the Wii U has been going through. I have no control over what Matthew posts. If Nintendo were to remaster Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess this month I would certainly count it as an upcoming game, but obviously that’s fictional. “PS4 library is still lacking and 3 months without major games IS a drought, but everyone knows it won’t take long.” But where is this 3 month period without major games? I just showed that wasn’t the case. If you are going to exclude games just because you personally don’t care about them, I may as well say the Wii U only has 1 more game coming out this year. Now that sounds like a major game drought. RennanNT I already explained why. The last of Us is more of a dual release where PS4’s version came a year later. If we are going to count everything, then we have Transformers, One Piece and Pushmo to Wii U soon, does this means no drought anywhere? greengecko007 It’s really more like a GOTY edition that’s been enhanced. You could for those games I suppose, though the only of those that I would include would be One Piece. I’d be shocked if that game didn’t do well in Japan, and it has the potential to do pretty well outside of Japan too. Transformers isn’t exactly an anticipated game, and Pushmo is a downloadable $10 game, a genre I excluded from my list earlier. RennanNT See, you too has your criteria. IMO, The Last of Us count as much as a new game as a VC game. Its an enhaced version (controllers, save state, hdmi and off-screen) of a game everyone played and want to play again. Its a good way to deal with droughts, but it doesn’t takes the drought status. I have a Wii U since January, and hadn’t since a time where I had no games to play, Im antecipating One Piece more than Bayo or Smash. Even so I don’t deny it has been in a drought and still will until september. greengecko007 Yes, I already listed my criteria in the same post as when I made that initial list; “high profile games”. For obvious reasons, I left out the smaller games that almost nobody cares about. There’s a lot of games coming out to the PS4 that nobody is really hanging on the edge of their seat waiting for. Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare is coming to the PS4 in August. I didn’t put that game in my list for the same reason that I wouldn’t count Transformers in a Wii U list. You can count those games if you wish, but if you do, the PS4 has more of those coming out too. RennanNT You are missing my point… In no moment I’m trying to discuss which one is better. I’m saying that TLoU doesn’t count in the argument PS4 isn’t in a drought, because if we can count past games then the Wii U was drought-free the moment it was backward compatible. And I’m not counting those games either, I said that in response to “If you are going to exclude games just because you personally don’t care about them”. It was an example which its not about which one I care (One Piece to me is above most console games this year – including Bayo and SSB – and I’m not counting it), but that there’s a criteria and in mine, both Wii U and PS4 are in a drought. greengecko007 You’ll have to bare with me, but I don’t really see the point you’re trying to make. How is a game being remastered comparable to backwards compatibility, and furthermore, how does backwards compatibility affect the release of new games for a console? The Last of Us remastered has enhanced specs and includes DLC for the game. It is a better version of the original game, and it is releasing on the PS4, which many people are looking forward to. There is definitely a nice backlog of games for the Wii U, especially when you consider that it is backwards compatible with Wii games, but these are not being remastered or remade as new games for the Wii U. Game drought, like a drought in which there is a lack of rain, refers to the lack of game releases. How much rain occurred in the past, or in this case games, is an entirely different topic. Perhaps you’re getting at something similar to what DMT has said, that technically, you could argue that because all of the consoles, including the Wii U, have games releasing (not just high profile games like I listed), that none of the systems have a game drought. That is one line of reasoning I can see. David Trail Wii U games drought ( reality) David Trail Wii U games drought lol! oontz Man you are still super annoying. Daniel Gonzalez You forgot super misguided. David Trail greengecko007 The games currently available for the Wii U does not change the fact that there are not, by comparison, many games releasing for the Wii U currently. David Trail There are loads. Just because you personally aren’t interested in them does not mean that there aren’t any. Your logic greengecko007. You should know that the best showing me your mediocre list. greengecko007 I listed “high profile games”. I don’t expect you to read every one of my comments for this article, but I’ve already said multiple times that you can count every game that comes out for a system if you want to. David Trail Real high profile games you listed bud. greengecko007 I’m glad you think so. D.M.T The game drought is NOT a Wii U exclusive issue. Technically the Wii U does not have a drought because indie games are released on Wii U every month but people say there’s a drought because they don’t care about the games that are being released. Since both PS4 and XBO don’t have enough games that interest me I think there’s a drought for those systems as well. David Trail I have never had a drought on my Wii U since launch. Look at my PS4 library after 7 months. It’s absolutely pathetic. I had more games on my Wii U than PS4 in the same point in time. greengecko007 That’s great for you. Obviously you did well in choosing to buy a Wii U. David Trail Yes, I did. It has more games than PS4 and Xbox One because I am not interested in a lot that PS4 and Xbox One has to offer. Only the odd game. greengecko007 There are indie games coming to the PS4 and Xbox One also. “Since both PS4 and XBO don’t have enough games that interest me I think there’s a drought for those systems as well.” That’s exactly what I’m talking about. It’s ok to not be interested in what other consoles have to offer. But it’s a logical fallacy to claim there is a game drought on the other consoles too just because they aren’t games you like. David Trail There isn’t a drought on Wii U either by your logic. greengecko007 How so? Rinslowe For the early adopter. The software drought may seem barely scratched on Wii U. But Nintendo did release their console almost 12 months too early. For the guys n girls who picked up a Wii U with Pikmin or WWHD, that experience was lessened greatly. Those who waited for Kart would, if not the types to frequent the internet, see no such software drought. Now that the system has a healthy library of games covering a variety of genres. With first party titles aside, those third party games whether they are decent ports or not is not an issue for the point. I envy those gamers that are coming on board the Wii U now. As the ecosystem is quite compelling overall. And there are games confirmed for the remainder of the year which are exclusive to the platform…. That’s Nintendo’s ticket. Compelling exclusive content… greengecko007 Agreed. There is definitely a diverse backlog of games currently available on the Wii U. People who are just now adopting the console should be able to find a few things to play. Rinslowe If not then…. It’s probably not the right purchase for them in any case. bistricky Well said. Cheers 😀 Quicksilver88 That was the most sensible post I have seen in months. WiiU has a nice and growing library, it has some great exclusives, and far more than ps4/xb1….and in truth it will likely have more exclusives. The ports get dogged but some of them are excellent and definitive versions (nfsmw, deus ex, rayman) which at least shows WiiU can deliver a quality port if done right. EShop is cooking and the future looks bright as we know Zelda, Starfox, and Metroid are coming as well as other major titltes. I am a big fan of all systems but just have not been motivated to buy ps4/xb1 yet because the game aren’t there. Halo collection is only exciting because H2 getting the HD treatment, and Last of Us was an awesome game, that I just finished playing the DLC on and have no interest in replaying yet. I think remasters are great for 10 year old gems that people forgot or never played (like wind wannker or Ico) and not that thrilling for last years games if U just played them. Basically all these ‘repacks’ are just a way to milk gamers for money on these new systems until the good stuff gets here….we wouldn’t even see last year remakes if ps4/xb1 were backwards compatible. David Trail Use your brain. greengecko007 How witty. I’ve been involved in this discussion and have explained my opinion quite extensively. Meanwhile, your one sentence replies are quite vague, so forgive me if I can’t exactly grasp what you’re trying to communicate. David Trail You have explained it already in your various posts defending the PS4. D.M.T If other consoles don’t have droughts than Wii U doesn’t have a drought either. Indie games are still games and there are games like One Piece, Transformers and some other games I can’t remember coming soon. greengecko007 If you want to count every single game that releases on the Wii U, then sure, there is no game drought. But realistically, most people don’t want to every single game. The games more people care about are coming out on PS4 and Xbox One, and they are coming out consistently. For the upteenth time, if you don’t care about the majority of those games, that’s perfectly fine, but it doesn’t change the fact that most people would prefer a game like Assassin’s Creed Unity of Transformers. Really, if you have games that you like, isn’t that all that matters? TrueWiiMaster Wind Waker was a remake of a game that released 10 years before its remake. The Last of Us just turned 1. They aren’t really comparable. Everyone that played TLoU played it within the last year. Most people that played Wind Waker played it many years ago. And in response to the Watch_Dogs comment, Mario Kart 8 wasn’t that long ago either. The retail game drought started at about the same time for all three systems. It isn’t at all exclusive to the Wii U. greengecko007 That’s right and I understand that, but the fact that many people are still looking forward to The Last of Us remastered makes it a noteworthy game release, which is why I mentioned it. DMT even said he was looking forward to it. Watchdogs wasn’t that long ago AND had game releases before that. What came before Mario Kart? Donkey Kong in February. Yes, you had some virtual console game releases in between, but that’s not exactly noteworthy. TrueWiiMaster There were game releases before Watch_Dogs, but only a couple. Since Titanfall, which had very few games released before it, the Xbox One has gotten Wolfenstein and UFC (not counting Ground Zeroes, Murdered, or games that also came to the Wii U). That’s a difference of 2-3 games in 6 months. Aside from a couple remakes/ports (FF14, Dynasty Warriors), the same goes for the PS4, though it also got MLB: The Show. The PS4 and Xbox One may be suffering from the drought slightly less than the Wii U, but the drought is still there. RecheDiazrivarola The Last of Us remastere-ps3 InFamous First Light -dlc Destiny – also ps3,xone,360,pc FIFA 15 -multy Skylanders Trap Team – multy Dragon Age Inquisition – The Evil Within – also xone,ps3,360 Assassin’s Creed Unity -xone, one game per year, probably delayed Call of Duty Advanced Warfare – multy Little Big Planet 3 – also PS3 greengecko007 Infamous First Light is also a standalone, just like Super Luigi U. What does it matter that a lot of these games are coming to other platforms? They are still games to play, as opposed to receiving nothing. David Trail The only one I really want out of those is Destiny. greengecko007 That’s fine. Personally, I’m not really interested in Destiny, but I can see why others are excited about it. D.M.T You wasted valuable time of your life telling me something I already know. Of course PS4 has games but how many of the games are actually high quality? Quality is subjective I know but many will agree with me that PS4’s list of upcoming games isn’t impressive. Of all the games you mentioned i want to play Destiny and Last Of Us, that’s it. David Trail Maybe, Dragon Age. greengecko007 ” Of all the games you mentioned i want to play Destiny and Last Of Us, that’s it.” And that’s a perfectly fine opinion to have DMT. But there is still no denying that the PS4 and Xbox One have a lot more games coming out. David Trail Not really. Daniel Gonzalez I’m not surprised by the denial. Anyone can see that those two consoles have plenty of games going for them this year, and more to come next year. Not too many 1st party exclusives, which is normal in a first year, but expect a lot more in 2015. Rinslowe The only thing realistically going for the Xbox One this year is Halo the Master Chief Collection. But that just proves that a single franchise can indeed turn the tides on a consoles situation. And I believe it will for them. The moment that collection hits the shelves I will be a MS console owner again for the third generation in a row. It was inevitable. But what applies to one company applies to them all… oontz It also doesn’t hurt that they dropped the kinect, and in turn the price. That collection is going to sell a lot of copies and XB1s Rinslowe I think so. Glad the kinect is a choice. Unlike the gamepad for Wii U. I never felt sold by kinect. Last gen or this one. But Halo…. Gets me every time. oontz “But Halo…. Gets me every time.” Yes… if there was any reason for me to buy an XB1… that will be it. I sunk so many hours into Halo 2 and Halo 3 multiplayer… so many hours. Crillan What I don’t understand about this is why buying and playing games we’ve already bought and played is a big deal. The Halo collection is so weak yet so hyped up. Rinslowe I don’t disagree with you. If I didn’t like the Halo games so much. I would be asking the same question. Just when it comes to Sci fi and Halo in general I’m interested. It’s all on dedicated servers as well and each title in my understanding is a remake with improved textures and resolution. So there’s that as a secondary reason. I guess I’m also looking for an excuse to pick up an Xbox One. I own both MS’s previous consoles. So it was only a matter of time. And the only thing getting me interested for the platform is Halo. So while I’m knee deep in a prettier version of nostalgia the real thing of interest for me Halo 5 gets nearer and nearer… TrueWiiMaster So aside from a remake of a game from last year and DLC for Infamous, the PS4 isn’t getting anything until September either, which is exactly what DMT said. Starting in September all three systems will be getting games. The biggest difference is that most of the Wii U’s upcoming games are exclusive, while most of the games coming to the PS4 and Xbox One are multiplats, many even coming to last gen systems. greengecko007 A highly anticipated remastering, and InFamous First Light is a stand alone mini game. Exare More than half of those are multi-platform ;D Brandon All three are getting transformers, if that counts. Anyways, the wii u has one game coming those months that we know of so far. TehEngineer Wii Sports Club July 24th URFTBOUND4LIFE . Yeah. People never realize that when Nintendo is quiet, it’s for a reason. When you don’t hear from them,it only means a storm is brewing. And like a storm it’ll catch everyone off guard. Only this is one storm you’d want to get caught in. bizzy gie Both you guys sound like advertisers. Daniel Gonzalez Delusional comes to mind. David Trail Delusional as always ; ) D.M.T Funny how a delusional person is accusing another person of being delusional. Maybe I’m too confident but you are too insecure. There’s only one reason why you don’t own a Wii U and that’s because you don’t want to take that “risk”. That’s why you and Sony are perfect for each other because you have that in common. You can deny it all you want but I got you figured out. Rinslowe I don’t strictly agree with the overly positive opinions regarding Wii U right now. And if it is making a turn around thanks to Kart, well all the better for it. But there’s no need to point out a group of peeps and make a deal of it. There’s still plenty of variables that could knock it back to being a terminally struggling system… Now having said all that. You are 110% correct about Daniel Gonzalez. Rinslowe So this was the origin of your recent outbursts and additional accounts. “Delusional” “Fans tend to be too over confident”… Sorry to see you play yourself out like that, really am. D.M.T I rather sound like an advertisers than someone who says “Wii U is doomed” all the time like a dumbass. bizzy gie I wasn’t stating that it was good or bad. Just funny really. Magnus Eriksson Lol, by the end of the year Nintendo still wont have sold more than 3.5M consoles. The sales are still HORRIBLE. Daniel Gonzalez Only thing that is selling well right now, is Mario Kart 8. Wii U in general, is still in the same position. 1st party game help, but third party games are larger in numbers and add up in the long run. One thing that Nintendo has,and will most likely keep them in last place when this gen is over. Basically, it’s a repeat of the 6th gen. David Trail Wii U exclusives sell more than third party games. The only reason people buy third party games on PS4 and Xbox One is because there is less quality on PS4 and Xbox One. oontz Maybe because those 3rd party games are actually available on PS4 and XB1. David Trail Or maybe becuae there is no quality. Third partys were on Wii U. We chose our exclusives. Knack or COD? SM3DW or COD? I personally would choose SM3DW on the Wii U as they have lots of great exclusives but I would buy COD on PS4 because there aren’t many good exclusives. oontz No one cares… crawl back under the rock where you’ve been hiding the past few months. No one cares David Fail, no one. David Trail COD or SM3DW? COD or Knack? oontz No one cares David Trail No one cares whether you like Sony more. Go and f%ck off to PS4 Daily. oontz Ha ha I’ve actually been paying mariokart non stop since it released. Nice try though. David fail. David Trail Don’t blame you to be honest. There is not much quality on PS4. Daniel Gonzalez The whackjob is back huh? I guess he didn’t return with better material. Ah well. Rinslowe No I don’t think there are enough clear parallels to assume that at this stage Daniel. Because the landscape for Wii U is currently changing dynamically. It really would be prudent to revisit this topic at the tail end of the holiday season 2014. Kart has only had 2 days of solid data representing it’s performance globally. For both hardware and software. I’m not expecting miracles for the end of June reagrding NPD/ Japanese and European figures. But wouldn’t want to be caught with egg on my face either, as the no’s are likely to be much different when they release. Japan can be tracked weekly so that’s a partial look into the progress it’s making on itself and the hardware. But the other two major regions cannot be predicted accurately based on that aloine… Just sayin. Magnus Eriksson Im not sure about coming last. I dont see people buy an XB1+PS4, but I do believe people will buy a PS4 or XB1 with a Wii U. Wii U will be everyones second console, atleast this is what I think. Daniel Gonzalez That’s a possibility. Though, with little third party support, it will only be a matter of time until Xbox One passes the Wii U. 1st party can only get you so far. I am hoping it to be PS4 and Wii U. Microsoft lost my money this gen. greengecko007 I think that’s a strong possibility. I’m sure there are people buying a PS4 or Xbox One first because it’s a better investment for them. But a year or two down the line we could see these people wanting a Wii U too. It’s not like everyone is limited to one console. D.M.T You was happy like a little bitch after Nintendo’s E3 Digital Event so dont try to convince me again that Wii U is doomed because even you know that’s not true. David Trail Nintendo had 5 new ips. SONY showed only three new ips and Nintendo already has more new ips on the Wii U than the PS4 has. D.M.T True that GGi The Wii U is doomed. Nobody knows it exists yet. Poor advertising. BUT I hope Nintendo proves me wrong. D.M.T They will Magnus Eriksson Im still happy for E3. I think they did an amazing job. However, they only have one systemseller this year. And that one they did mess up with an earlier release on 3DS. Bayonetta will NOT be a system seller. However 2015 sounds interesting. Rinslowe That’s hard to say honestly… Magnus Eriksson They lost their first six month of the year by betting on two titles. Sure MK8 is doing great, but it wont drive millions of consoles by it self. Smash got its own problems… Rinslowe The only real issue I can see with Smash in terms of broad appeal is that they’re choosing to release it a bit late. IF that is a part of the development process – and I don’t actually know it is – then I stand corrected there. But it would be more advantageous for them to release a stand alone + digital copy early. While providing certain bundled deals for the holiday season only… Early adopters will do their thing and others will pick it up when the value looks more enticing and the holiday buzz will also take it’s hold on the situation… Would be a good time to revitalise Mario Kart 8 bundles during the holiday season as well. Seeing as though it’s not an annual franchise. It literally retains the potential to be marketed for the duration of Wii U’s lifespan… Ducked Well Nintendo did have a rough time with the GameCube, which sales didn’t turn around for. D.M.T Last time i checked GameCube was profitable for Nintendo, they didn’t lose money. Yeah GameCube didn’t sell 100 million or even 25 million units but that doesn’t matter anymore because the successor of the GameCube, the Wii, sold 100 million so those who said “Nintendo is doomed” were proved wrong. DragonSilths Nintendo went 30 years of pure profit then 3 years of no profit…with Nintendo ANYTHING is possible, including being “doomed” as the kids say. Highly unlikley, almost impossible, but you never know. A random meteor could smash into Nintendo HQ and kill everyone that ends Nintendo lol. fliadaloisio And FUCKING PERIOD. The Clockwork Being I really want to see the Wii U do a comeback during the holiday season. And for that to happen, NIntendo has to out do its competition. They will have to advertise the hell out of their games. Bayonnetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad:Treasure Tracker, Devil’s Third, Super Smash. These are just a few of the games coming out towards the end of the holiday season. If Nintendo plays the card right, they could end up having a royal flush a make a steady comeback with the Wii U. Leo If the WiiU can do what it did in Japan… then yes, it may find a place on respectable sales… until that happens i doubt that the mainstream media would change its perception about this console. Roadkill409 Does anyone honestly expect him to say anything else? I hope he is right though. The Wii U is my only current gen system! Shota all i want is devils third… Sycamore U-Turn!!! Fred Bayonetta 2 is highly anticipated? What is your definition of highly anticipated? Will it even sell 1 million copies? Roadkill409 I plan on getting it. I hope it’s my type of game. I have never played the original. But I think Nintendo is really lacking in this style of game. lonewolf Its better than both of those the creator of bayonetta is the same guy who created dmc. Roadkill409 Good to hear! I just picked up Darksiders II because I read that it has elements similar to God of War. I am just looking for a good action game. it seems like Bayonetta might fit the bill. And now that it will come with 1 and 2, the value has gone way up. And I want to play it on a Nintendo. lonewolf Yea and if you havent watched any of the bayonetta gamellay that was on the treehouse this e3 I highly recommend it. Fred It’s the same style as Wonderful 101 and sales for that game were TERRIBLE even though it’s an AWESOME game!!! Even if Bayonetta 2 is done incredibly well, I can’t see it selling even half a million copies when W101 couldn’t even sell a quarter of a million and it’s only $23 Roadkill409 I believe that the Wonderful 101 was the right game at the wrong time in the history of the Wii U. I just don’t think that when the Wonderful 101 was released people wanted to play a comic book looking super hero team game. I think the marketing was confusing because it looked like a kids game but had adult game play. However, I do believe that someday many years from now, you will read or listen (or whatever we are doing at that point to input data) to an article that has a title like “Wii U games that you might have missed” or “Sleeper hits from the Wii U”, and the Wonderful 101 will be on that list. I also think that I might just go buy a copy or two and play one and just hold on to the other because it might be one of those games that people want to play but can’t find, I know you like to download games though :-). From what I have seen Bayonetta 2 is nothing like Wonderful 101. As I have said before, I have not played the first game, but it looks like a cross between God of War and DmC. A game like that will sell better than the Wonderful 101. Maybe one problem with the Wonderful 101 is what type of game is it? What category would you put in? I am not sure. It is very unique. Fred I’m not good at categorizing games, but I can tell you I think you’re right about people in the future saying Wonderful 101 is the Wii U game you missed. It’s awesome. You really should go buy at least 1 copy (although you saying 2 copies makes me wonder if I should go buy a second copy) I think 1 thing that hurt it is the demo. I was going to buy it day 1, but then I played the demo and it made me second guess my purchase. I ended up buying it a few months later and my only regret was that I didn’t buy it day 1. Roadkill409 I will take your recommendation and pick up a copy (or two if the price is right). I had the opposite affect, I downloaded the demo and my family like it, but I have yet to buy it. I keep the game on my Amazon list just to watch the price. It is so hard to know what the prices will be in the future, your guess is as good as mine. I have guess right on a few. But before I was smart enough to know, most of my games went to Funcoland 🙁 Just keep the 2nd copy in the plastic wrapper. It will be worth more :-)…… maybe Fred Awesome I’m glad to hear you’re going to go buy it now. Leery me know what you thought lonewolf Highly anticipated as it will move some systems sales. Fred It’s Wonderful 101 that the kids CAN’T play. Wonderful 101 sold 0.21 million. Tell me how many systems it will move? I’m guessing a couple thousand, but that’s not even a blip on the radar. I’m sorry I love Nintendo and I want them to be successful, but I just don’t consider Bayonetta a Highly anticipated game overall (yes it is highly anticipated for some people, but not enough to really impact anything) lonewolf Well whats left for us is to wait and see. Polygon for example calculated that mario kart 8 will sell 1.2 millions for the whole year but mario kart 8 sold 1.2 millions in two days. So everything is relative we need just to wait and see. Fred You’re right we’ll soon see. I’m one of those 1.2 million Mario Kart owners. I hit download on my Wii U just after midnight. We played a grand prix before going to bed David Trail Highly anticipated, day one buy for me. bistricky Bayonetta 2, in my opinion, is now highly anticipated. It’s had the time to get enough “hype” … combine that with the inclusion of Bayonetta 1 for free …. it has the potential to near 1 million units during its lifespan. Heck, the coverart alone will sell 20K+ (LOL). Rinslowe It is for me anyway. Fred You could be right about it selling 1 million copies, but I really doubt it. I never played the original Bayonetta, but I hear it’s like Wonderful 101 (a game I love) and Wonderful 101 only sold 0.21 million. No it didn’t come with a free game, but the price got cut. It’s only $24 and it’s been that cheap for quite awhile now. http://www.amazon.com/The-Wonderful-101-Nintendo-Wii-U/dp/B002I08CSW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403294131&sr=8-1&keywords=wonderful+101 bistricky Yeah … when it comes to guessing lifespan sales of a game … your guess is good as mine …. it’s fun to guess and see how it does. Bayonetta 2 is made by the same great game devs as Wonderful 101 …. the big difference is Wonderful 101 was a totally new IP while Bayonetta has already a cult following and has been hyped even before the first Wii U was sold. Also, I always thought the coverart for Wonderful 101 was poor. If it wasn’t recommended by some of my Wii U gaming friends, I would never had bought it. Cheers XD Colbster the Man What I’ve hated is that ignorant studios wont make games for the Wii u and it has a higher install base than the Xbox one literally there are more Wii u owners than Xbox One owners just why does every company have to be ignorant about the Wii u lonewolf Because the wii u has plenty of great exclusives and the xbox has barelly any exclusive games so its safe for the 3rd party developers because of that they know that their games will sell tons of copies. Colbster the Man Good point LinkaKirby Just a classic example on how wrong people can be. When Nintendo actually fails I’ll see it, but it is not happening anytime soon, maybe even never. Shane Michaels This is Nintendo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SVtTRlB-EI Nookling Regardless of console sales, amiibo with smash is going to get Nintendo a huge amount of money. That should help them with a profit at least phaedruss Wishful thinking. DragonSilths The Wii U was bleeding since launch till MK8, it was in critical position. All MK8 has done has dramatically slowed down the bleeding. The question is, how much blood is left in the console to lose? We have nothing in until September, stupid Hyrule Warriors. Can the Wii U last 1 final 3 month game drought? Yeah, will it ever be “saved” and blast of to the moon? NOPE. Wii U will come in 2nd place this gen, there is no if’s, ands, or buts about it. Wii U will drag itself through the generation, beating the Xbox One. It will be a repeat of the Gamecube, although coming in 2nd not 3rd. Wii U will have great games no doubt, but permanent damage has been done to the Wii U by Nintendo themselves, the media, and the gamers. Wii U was doomed to be damaged from the begining. Not doomed to fail, I see it still being a success in the end, just not anywhere close to what Nintendo wanted. 30 million total life time sales. phaedruss Actually the question is how many wii u’s has mario kart really sold so far? Shootdatrupee!… ~200K? Just a guess from looking on VG, since nobody else is posting worldwide numbers. And they want to make it look like we and Nintendo are the bad guys in this relationship! darkcreap Oh, and don’t forget Hyrule Warriors!!!! David Trail Excellent, f%cking love my Wii U! oontz You’ve told us, a million times. We get it, really… we do. David Trail One Piece, Pushmo, Wii Sports Retail, Hyrule Warriors, Sonic Boom, Watch Dogs, Project Cars, Guacamelee, Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 1 included, SSB for Wii U. Even more indie and virtual console titles. Wii U is on the rise and U better believe it! phaedruss Is call of duty even coming to Wii u? Guacamelee is on every platform known to mankind. Watch dogs is coming out months after other platforms. It’s just not a pretty picture. David Trail Yes COD, is coming to Wii U so what if it is coming to every platform? PS4 fans get hyped for multi plats even though they are on Xbox One and look better on pc. I am looking forward to Watch Dogs on Wii U. Less bugs and glitches because of the extra development time. phaedruss Eh watch dogs isn’t worth the hype believe me. David Trail Exactly, a lot of mutiplats aren’t lol. phaedruss A lot of games in general aren’t. David Trail My Wii U has lived up to expectations. My PS4 hasn’t. phaedruss How? David Trail Better games have been on Wii U since launch… NSMBU or Knack??? Pikmin 3 or Infamous Second Son??? Mario Kart 8 or Need for Speed??? phaedruss None. All those games suck David Trail You have very narrow taste lol. phaedruss Kind of. I like mostly rpg’s, but rayman legends I think was far better than nsmbu and forza 5 is much better than Mario kart. Infamous second son was such a disappointment though. As far as need for speed goes that’s not my cup of tea. Guest http://www.gamespot.com/articles/is-call-of-duty-advanced-warfare-coming-to-wii-u/1100-6420020/ Looks like COD is coming to Wii U. Not that I care but I was slightly interested to see what it’s like lol. phaedruss Did you really just link me to the same article I just l linked that says in the update that it isn’t? David Trail I deleted and got another one. Read my newest comment. phaedruss That’s ghosts. bistricky To clear the confusion on the status of COD: Advanced Warfare for the Wii U ……. Prior to E3 it was discovered that Activision’s E3 website listed Wii U for COD: Advanced Warfare ……. BUT …… At E3, Activision stated that the Wii U link was posted in error. And today it is clearly not listed on their website. Too bad. Not a big COD fan but always appreciate more games for the Wii U then less (heck, I have 50+ retail Wii U games). Saying all that, I am looking forward to one specific 3rd party game ….. that being Project Cars ….. its the lone game coming only to 8th generation systems (Wii U, X1 and PS4 and PC). For this reason, I am going to support it …. while other 3rd party companies stop making games for the Wii U, when it goes exclusively for 8th generation consoles … it is good to see that this dev has stuck with it. Cheers 😀 David Trail It looks like it probably is coming. Some websites are saying that it is. Other are saying it is not. COD usually always comes out on Nintendo http://kotaku.com/so-call-of-duty-ghosts-is-coming-to-wii-u-911249188 oontz how can you compare those games? None of them are even the same genre. David Trail NSMBU and Knack are both platformers Mario Kart 8 and Need for Speed are both arcade racers Pikmin 3 is the better adventure game than Infamous Second Son oontz ha ha… reach a little harder mate. David Trail You are the one who needs to try harder. Learn your genres first m8. oontz I said “reach” not “try” wanker David Trail http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NcDZmmu9FM Nintendo kicked ass this year! David Trail The reality of the Wii U games drought. phaedruss most of it is crap. David Trail Most of what is on PS4 is crap. Doesn’t stop it from selling and that is just your opinion. phaedruss Never said anything about ps4, but there are only a few good games on Wii u. David Trail There are more good games on Wii U than both PS4 and Xbox One. phaedruss Such as? David Trail SM3DW Mario Kart 8 Rayman Legends Zelda: Wind Waker HD Pikmin 3 DKC TF Monster Hunter: Utimate Lego City Under Cover NSMBU New Luigi Bros U Wii Fit U NES REMIX NES REMIX 2 Nintendo Land Zombi U Wonderful 101 Brandon For now 🙂 David Trail Did you watch e3? Brandon Yes, all 5 press conferences. oontz Heeeeeeeeeees baaaaaaaaaaack! Daniel Gonzalez Yep, and with more misguided views. Ashman997 ‘and following gamers’ not to be taken out of context, right guys? David Trail The question that everyone needs to answer… Is do you want to play average mutiplats that do not live up to the hype mostly or great Nintendo exclusives? Eric Wells Well, its time for me to confess – I was one of those naysayers. I would say, oh the wii u is nothing but a pile of crap and nothing good will come on it and it will be gone soon, among many, many other things. I was in the Playstation camp as a fanboy, but you know what???? After purchasing a Wii U tonight, the Mario Kart 8 bundle where you get the game, the deluxe system, as well as an extra controller and wheel etc, plus being able to get a free game when registering Mario Kart 8…..was I wrong! Yes, the PS4 is great and amazing but, for me, I only want to play 2 games on it that are out at the moment and nothing on the Xbox One because I can play it on PC, but I was really blown away by what Nintendo is releasing later this year and into the next. I am looking forward to Bayonetta 2 – loved the first one, new Yoshi, new Kirby, Zelda, etc and even the Amibo’s – they look pretty cool and I will get them as well. So yes, once Nintendo is quiet, it means something and they finally convinced this Playstation fanboy to purchase their system over the competitor and for that, Nintendo – thank you bistricky Great post. I was also in the same boat (only in past generations of systems). I was a day one buyer of Xbox and Xbox 360. Back then, I couldn’t care less about Nintendo. And then because of an advertisement, i found myself buying a Wii U (back in November 2013) and I was surprised for all good reasons. I thought I was always going to be a Microsoft fan and always buy Microsoft gaming consoles …. the Wii U changed that, for me. I never expected that. Thanks for posting your gaming story. Cheers 😀 matt Well all 3 consoles are selling fairly even in the UK i check most days,so wiiu has defo picked up in the uk its selling 4 times what it did….. Nintenjoe82 The Wii U is at a turning point. It’s about to pack its bags, turn around and go home Paulo Ferreira Nintendo has banks of money and really is royalty in the gaming world and one of the few console makers that can really survive off First party games alone and ( with Sony being only console maker that can maybe one day do same with their recent lineup of first party games but still not as many as Nintendo has ) never mind innovation they always bring and funny part even with a weaker console they always manage to stay on top or at least up in sales as proven with the Wii and Wii U. They which proves games are what sells consoles and what matters is not the hardware specs when it comes to consoles but fun and easy to play controls and games. Nintendo understands what people want they want fun games and Nintendo seems to always deliver that. What good is it to have the biggest library if half of the library is bad games. Btw dreamcast was a great console the problem was Sega really only created it to get them out of bankruptcy and really by the time it was created it was already to late for Sega which is to bad. It was also first windows based console ( had windows CE) and wonder if Xbox would have been around had Sega stuck around. On a final note would be nice to see Nintendo take over Sega and Capcom too which I hear is up for grabs and with titles like megaman a Nintendo favorite and other games like resident evil Capcom really would be good grab and fit for Nintendo.
