As you probably know, the Resident Evil: Revelations demo came out on the Wii U eShop this week. I’ve gone through it, and have detailed my experience in the following video:

Resident Evil has seen a large departure from the original survival-horror formula in more recent games; swapping the horror out for more action. While fans seem to have mixed reactions about these choices, I find the return to dark and cramped spaces to be a breath of fresh air. As someone who played a ton of the 3DS version, I am so excited to see this game getting a console release.

What are your thoughts on the demo? Are you excited for the game’s release?

Hey can you guys post and talk about the fan made Nintendo smartphone that T3 posted its really cool!!!

Also this game looks cool i really enjoyed the 3ds version so im pretty sure ill pick this one up as well :p

    • Nintendofreak

      it looks like a iphone

      • Tecpedz94

No more like a a galaxy but im talking about the concept of it, diffidently it wont look like this but like having miiverse and stuff which Nintendo wants to add to smartphones would make sense for them to do ??

        • Zombie Boy

I can see why people are hating on this (the start of the video), but personally I think this looks pretty sweet. The games obviously wouldn’t be as technically advanced, but the idea of the MiiVerse etc is great.

        • jay

The galaxy is based off the iPhone.

      • jay

ALL NEW phones are based off the iPhone design.

        • Vazaha

          More like the IBM Simon!

        • Neilandio

          Not true

    • Tecpedz94

Why doesn’t anyone like it ?? I didn’t say they shoudl do it i just said it looks cool?

      • D.M.T

The person who made this concepts things Nintendo should make smartphones just because he thinks Wii U will get destroyed by the other next-gen consoles and I disagree that’s why i dont like it

        • Tecpedz94

OHHHH!!! Okay no i disagree with that as well i just thought the idea was cool, i didnt know that that was the reason :p

    • CharmanderRulz

Are you expecting full Wii U games to run on phone parts like the tegra chips? That would force all Wii U games that use this to make less power intensive ports that work with it like the 3DS Monster Hunter that was built for that support. Most of the problems I see for making a device like this are because the Wii U was not built for this. I do feel Nintendo needs phone support but not like this. The 3DS is the fastest selling console of all time so it doesn’t need to give a dam about phones but the 4DS (place holder for next portable system) needs to be a game console and then a phone (even better with android support as Nintendo has support with Google) and not the other way around (sarcasm starts hear) like the very successful Xbox and PlayStation phones.

      • Tecpedz94

Im actually not a huge fan of smartphones, i just thought it was a cool video thats all. Diffidently not, having full wiiu games on a smart phone isnt what i was stating nor did i state anything about the video. If Nintendo does brings smartphones it would mostly be used for like Miiverse and stuff, i have no clue what their plans would be if a smartphone would be made by them but it would have to be in a way which woudl not interfere with their portable device since i really like the 3ds. But again i just posted it to show people the concept video i didnt say they should do it….

        • CharmanderRulz

I am a smart phone fan because there are good games that can beat the common console game in terms of story or portability (but are VERY few and far between) but you have to consider when you post a video it makes you look like you agree with it. It’s to late to say “nor did i state anything about the video” after you imply you do agree with it (“its really cool”) and it would be cool and people would agree but not like this, a phone made to be the console for some near impossible stuff would turn out like smart glass. (haven’t heard that name in a bit) It was Microsoft’s try at making a console do tasks it was not made for.

    • Dani

I like this concept, it could run 3DS and VC games instead of Wii U games. A 3D screen would be nice.

      • Tecpedz94

Well definitely if they would make it it would run only virtual console games as well as the possibility of other mini exclusive games specifically for the phone but never 3ds or WiiU games that is certain! Like i mentioned i dislike gaming on a smartphone only mini games are somewhat entertaining for a limited time….

    • jay

      We dont need another iKnockoff

    • kevin nun—-

Is it me or are the start and select buttons switched?

    • Elem187

      Yes because I want a $700 handheld.
You forget phones are heavily subsidized by a contract.

  • Nintendofreak

    JILL <3 <3 <3 (<3 x infinity) + 1

    • TNT….BOOM

      The Jill Sandwich XD

      • Zombie Boy

I hope this isn’t… Chris’ blood! It’s Resident Evil 1 all over again lol!

      • Nintendofreak

        hmmm suddenly i feel hungry…….

    • I’m more beautiful than Jill

      • Nintendofreak

maybe in a alternate universe where she is ugly…..nobody will ever beat jill <3

      • Have you seen yourself in a mirror!?

    • Elem187

Jill’s booty looks fantastic in HD.

  • Played both PC and WiiU versions of the demo and the PC version blows the WiiU version out of the water. The textures are much crisper and higher resolution. Unfortunately all of the 3DS problems are still there like you mentioned. I would recommend changing the aiming controls to classic. Classic aiming gives a much better feel to the game than the shooter option.

    • Orange Lada

I didn’t play the PC version, but I agree that the Wii U version is lacking – and it isn’t the processor. It doesn’t seem well done.

I’m hoping they fix it up before release.

      • That texture issue is inexcusable for a “Next Gen” system. At least someone finally understands.

        • Pamm!!

I guess they used (again) one of the other two consoles as “base” for the developmet and ported it to the other two…I agree, that the game’s textures don’t do the WiiU justice, but if you’re really concentrated (and/or scared xD) while playing it, you won’t see it that much

          • RyuNoHadouken

they took the 3ds version and upscaled it…thats work on textures at all

          • That is incorrect. Texture work was redone or simply upscaled. 3DS texture res is much lower than on consoles and would look horrible.

          • RyuNoHadouken

you do know the 3DS is more powerful than a Wii, right? they didnt touch anything..its an upscale job…look at the guy hanging from the air vent in the demo as reference

        • RyuNoHadouken

all they did was take the 3ds version and upscale it…no major work done to the textures

        • Andrei Gdo Abarca

First at all u can’t compare PC with consoles.
End gaming PC like ROG will be Pc>consoles many many times

  • kinghenroc187

you say it blows the wii u virsion if it was ps4 and 720 version it will still blow it also… is pc nothing is stronger then pc pc is 2 to maby 3 generations ahead if you got connections

    • CharmanderRulz

The normal PC can’t run Wii performance games. To just say “nothing is stronger then pc” make you sound narrow minded as this PC can’t over power phones made within the last 10 years. (AMD Sempron(tm) SI-42) I am a big PC gamer myself (not as much with this PC) but people that think games need to look like real life or that something can be “3 generations ahead” based on power then that makes them the idiots so don’t make the PC fan base look bad and PS don’t tell this PC that normal CPUs can have more than one core as it may get jealous.

      • Potemkin

Sorry…but do you mean that a PC can’t run properly a Wii game? If that is the case, I beg to differ, as my almost 6 years old quadcore pc ran Dolphin Emulator and Donkey Kong Country Returns flawlessly (and all other games I threw at it).

        • Zombie Boy

I think he’s saying that HIS PC can’t run it. High powered PCs will always give better looking graphics than consoles (yes, even the next gen ones). I own a gaming PC for games like Far Cry 3 and Bioshock Infinite and a Wii U for Nintendo’s first party games – which no PC emulator can run.

          • CharmanderRulz

Where as I feel you getting a Wii U only be because you can’t emulate it is not the best moral choice I will keep to the topic. I can program games so I could get Wii game to run on weaker platforms if I so choose but that was not the point I was trying to make. kinghenroc187 said a PC (not “High powered PCs” like you said but any PC) are “maby 3 generations ahead” now as you are smart enough to talk in full sentences we both know loading/inserting Skyrim into a tablet PC will not match any console as I doubt it would even run. PCs are both the most powerful and weakest platform as even phones can count as PCs.

          • Zombie Boy

I didn’t say I bought a Wii U just because PCs can’t emulate them. I stated that fact as he seemed to be saying that his PC can emulate all games, which isn’t true. The simple truth is, it is more fun playing games on the system that they were intended for. Most XBox and PS games are also released on the PC, whereas Nintendo’s games are not, which is why I bought a Wii U. And I agree. If you want to play modern games on a PC then you need a high-powered gaming PC to do it. But still, such PCs always have and always will outshine the consoles graphically.

          • Potemkin

Didn’t say any games, just Wii games through Dolphin Emulator. Last time I checked I was having some issues running Crysis 2 on maximum settings 🙁

          • Zombie Boy

That’s strange, Crysis 2 was the least demanding of the series :/

          • Potemkin

That’s what I heard, but then again, my graphics card collapsed shortly after that so I could blame my graphics card for that. Hell, even during web surfing it would heat like crazy and freeze my PC constantly.

          • Zombie Boy

If you’ve had it for 6 years, it’s probably simply time to upgrade. I need to do the same (it struggled with Far Cry 3), but am waiting until after the other next gen consoles are released as it may affect PC prices / tech a little.

        • CharmanderRulz

“a PC” (meaning a single set up) is not “The normal PC” (meaning an average) I was trying to point out that every PC is different, even ones with the same parts may have different amounts of programs up (or any variable at all) to change them. Just because you found one PC that can run some games doesn’t mean all PCs can. The person that made the comment thought any PC could beat every platform but not every PC is powerfull.

          • Potemkin

I know, but even recent computers (not gaming rigs) can do fairly well with Dolphin (as far as I remember you could start the emulator with even a single core pc and graphics card supporting OpenGL 2.0)

    • zhenyaivan

Can a PC give me a Wii U experience? No? Ok.

  • Clel

“I find the return to dark and cramped spaces to be a breath of fresh air.”

I see what you did there.

  • Michael Jurado

yes a reason to use asian mode XD

  • Gabriel Dowdy

Hope that rumor about us getting an exclusive remake is true. Would love one of the classics reimagined with the new engine. No fixed angles, over the shoulder. Insta buy!

    • Don’t you tease me. The RE 1 Remake on Gamecube is one of my favorite games of all time.

      • RyuNoHadouken

  • Zombie Boy

I LOLed when he talked about their mouths moving when the characters speak. This is Resident Evil… It wouldn’t be the same if the voice acting was good!

    • thedeciderU

haha true true. i might have to play through code veronica again this summer too.

      • Zombie Boy

        Great game, very underrated.

        • thedeciderU

yeah, i agree. that game scared the crap out of me when i bought it. i had it on dreamcast (best version in my opinion), and i got somewhere on disc 2 and was unable to finish the game. the story was awesome!

          • thedeciderU

also will replay silent hill 2 this summer, and maybe the first one on psx

          • Zombie Boy

The Silent Hill games are my favourite series, but like Resident Evil, they started to go downhill with the last gen of consoles (the PS3 and XBox 360). Revelations seems to be a step back in RE history and that’s what both series’ need. Forget the movie-like cutscenes and quicktime events, give us atmosphere!

I managed to complete RE: Code Veronica just through sheer persistence, but it took a while!

  • jcnba28

There are dead zones on the analogue stick, the aiming is off. I won’t be buying this unless Capcom patches it.

    • RyuNoHadouken

theres more control schemes in the final version…but heres a pro tip: adjust the aiming controls to slow, invert the y axis and set controller layout to classic…youre welcome 🙂

  • david jarman

Atmosphere! Nailed it on the head!

  • Played the demo. Quite fun and spooky. dunno if I’ll buy it, but it was fun 🙂

  • Antar Rodríguez

when did resident evil started been about formless monsters? they dont even scare at all

    • Pamm!!

I think that there’s a different virus than before. At least those fish in the trailer looked also all spiky like those white things

  • fireheartis1

I’m really not into the survival horror genera, but this demo was pretty good. I’ve actually never been a Resident Evil fan but I actually liked this demo. The graphics are smooth and the frame rate was really nice. I was a bit spooked but never really scared out of my wits. I think I might pick up this game on release.

  • zhenyaivan

I never thought i would say this but RE is awesome since it’s my first game.

  • Ultranist

So is nintendo taking ad revenue from this video?

  • wiiucompl

I’m happy – this is THE FIRST GAME on Wii U with the Polish language! Although only subtitles but really – thanks CAPCOM !

I have to admit that the mood of the game is good and I like gameplay too. The game is at a good speed. No need to hurry, but still want to go on. For me, a must have in my collection!

    What will be the price?

  • springer85

    LMFAO poor nintendo slurpers!!!

One of the head guys at EA has had a twiiter rant saying that he thinks the wii u is a piece of crap, under powered and that nintendo should do a sega!!!LMFAO

His posts have been removed from his twitter but click here to view what he said!!!LOL

I knew there was alot more to the nintendo EA spat than any of them let on!!!This rant proves that both companies hate each other!!!

    • Petri

Nintendo hasn’t stooped on the level of immaturity that EA and its workers are cultivating.

But no wonder EA games have been so crappy lately, when there’s asshats like this working for it.

  • Nintenjoe82

I liked this demo but I think I’ll give it a miss. Since RE4 I’ve wanted Capcom to remake RE0 – RE:CV in the same sort of style as RE4. I’d love to run around an HD Raccoon City. They could still make the ammo and saves limited and the keep the puzzles tricky but ideally I’d love to run through the story as HUNK cleaning up all the mess in the train, mansion and city.

Umbrella Chronicles should have been this game but instead they made it a light gun game with inaccurate shooting.

    the aiming is knda clunky

  • Michael Wostbrock

As a pretty experienced gamer I was excited to finally try my hand a res evil game. Unfortunately I found myself mostly disappointed.

    Smooth, highdef graphics
    Good (though limited) voice acting
    Awkward aiming controls
Predictable – even for someone who rarely plays horror and has never played resident evil before. Not a single monster surprised me, they were right where I expected them to be.
The “investigate” or “search” mechanic. Everytime you select the magnifying glass icon you are rewarded with an awkward camera change and an often poorly written description of what you are looking at. No voice acting. I feel like this takes a lot away from the immersion required for a horror experience.

All in all the game felt childish. This might be because I am mental comparing the horror aspects to Amnesia which I recently played, or it might be simply because it is aimed at a younger audience (I’m 23). Either way its not for me personally.

the demo whas realy good, but the aming controls was not good.
