Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime spoke briefly with GameTrailers’ Geoff Keighly about the upcoming Wii U. Reggie mentions that there are a lot of consumers out there who didn’t buy an Xbox 360 or PS3, who have been loyal with Nintendo. And now some of the appeal of the Wii U, according to Reggie, is that those consumers will get a chance to play third party hits like Assassin’s Creed 3 and Batman Arkham City on a Nintendo system.

Reggie did get questioned a bit about the lack of decent Wii support over the past few years, but he shrugged off the criticism. Reggie also answers a rumor that was started by Michael Pachter, where he believed that Activision forced Nintendo to offer the Wii U Pro Controller to gamers. Check out Reggie’s answer in the full video below:

          (ds’s to)

          • David

I did have a PSX about 12 years ago. Haven’t bought anything other than a Wii and a 3DS since.

          • AwesomeNES

Please confirm that the following are false rumours:

            -Tri-core processor.
-Won’t be able to play DVD Movies.

And confirm that it will have:

            -Quad-Core processor or more.
            -Will support DVD movies
-Will have a 2Gb GPU or higher.

            Please Nintendo! Confirm it! πŸ˜‰
            Thank You. πŸ™‚

          • Nintenlord

@awesomenes is 4core is a 2g of memory it wont play dvds

          • AwesomeNES

At least it’s 4 cores and 2Gb of GPU.
It’s the best news I’ve heard so far.

          • Grodus

            @AwesomeNES It can’t play DVD’s. Ain’t no rumor.

        • Revolution5268

same here, i still have not own a ps3 or an xbox 360, glad to see reggie see the loyal fans that went thought them all the way with just one console.

          • nintendofreak

            well i own a ps2 but it was a gift n since d 64 i havent bought a single non nintendo platform (except d 64)

        • RAGEalltheWAY

From SNES to now the Wii U, I’ve always been loyal to Nintendo. Never owned another console by another company. Nope. NINTENDO 4 LIFE!

      • Cugno the Swiss

Same here. I bought the Wii, and I’m glad I could play Zelda, Fragile Dreams, Xenoblade and Last Story, but I also wanted multiplat titles such as Portal 2 (awesome game!). I decided to buy an Xbox360 because the PS3 was too expensive. I did have the money, but I just don’t want to spend them on videogames. Buying the Xbox has been an error: the exclusives suck, except for Alan Wake and The Witcher 2 (which can also be played on the PC), the only true exclusive, at least outside of Japan, I was glad to play was Vesperia (yes, I don’t like Eternal Sonata). PS3 has god Tales of Graces, which was a Wii exclusive by the way, what the hell? And it’s getting Ni No Kuni, which I highly hope it will be ported to the Wii U someday.
It’s the first and the last time I buy a Microsoft gaming console. I’ll buy a Wii U because I always own Nintendo’s stuff, and if it’s going to be neglected just like the Wii, I’ll add the new playstation on my shelf. Gears of War can go to hell.

        • MujuraNoKamen

How about Halo, it’s a cut above the usual FPS mediocrity. And I agree, I’ll always buy Nintendo consoles, they’re better built and have awesome exclusives (and hopefully with Wii U, great 3rd party support)
-Check out my comment below for more on what sucks about the 360.

      • Nintenlord

Dont spect edward t today he is in euro wii u tour

      • Novum Magus

I went Nintendo and Sony… Sony mostly for the JRPG’s. This gens Final Fantasies weren’t as good as previous IMO πŸ™ Nintendo is always my favorite though. I’d love a Final Fantasy on the Wii U

        • Cugno the Swiss

I’d love it too, if it were like the sixth one or the first ones in 3D. XIII was worse than a teenager soap opera, I couldn’t stand those whining morons.

      • TheBaconator

I bought a 360… lasted a week then got the red rings -_-

        • MujuraNoKamen

Whoever says Microsoft make reliable consoles and put quality ahead of profit are wrong! I have an XBox 360 and love it but it seems a little shoddy, the disc tray sticks which is super annoying, it crashes all too often, the online connection is also unreliable (I did buy a brand new router a while ago and the problem still remained so no need to point that out πŸ˜€ ) to make matters worse you have to pay for the online as well as pay a load for the wireless adapter thing for it – talk about trying squeeze money out of us, Sony and Nintendo both have automatic wireless connection, no need for adapters.

      • Erick

Only bought a 360 for halo, but your right. Most of my multiplat games have been Sony, now I’ll pretty much just get exclusive’s for the 720/ps4 and get the multiplat games on the Wii U.

    • Lancer

Is that really something to be proud of though? Just asking…

*Grabs purple flame shield from the wonderful PS3 exclusive Demon’s Souls*

      • Nintenlord

Was exclusive you can call it ex exclusive

        • Lancer

Demon’s Souls? No… That’s still an exclusive, but hey, all systems have awesome exclusives, the wii had quiet a few. I just don’t see why you would restrict yourself to one company though, if you have the funds.

          • Nintenlord

You are rigth got it confuse whit the secuel dark souls

          • Except Not

Except it’s not exclusive. It’s on PC genius.

          • Anonymous

The reason for exclusive titles comes from backdoor business deals between console manufacturers and game developers. These deals result in higher longterm profits for both companies.

          • Except it is…

It is a PS3 exclusive… Who in their right mind would say it’s on the PC when it isn’t?

      • Nintedward.

*Drives around the top gear test track again and again on forza 4*

        • xdlugia

I actually find the Top Gear Test Track quite boring after a while, but playing car Football online is one of the funnest experiences I’ve had xD

          • Nintedward.

I like testng my self against top gears lap times !!! . so I turn stearing assist off and put it on simulation and put the gears into manual insead of automatic !!! and a few other realistic adjustments like the brakes onto ABS instead of assisted .

Then (for example) I use the Nissan GTR . And the stig did 1:19 in that. No joke here , I keep hitting 1:19 or 1:20 in it and I cannot go any faster.

I believe thats testament of how perfect of a racing sim forza actually is :)!!!!

        • Revolution5268

lol your pic fits with the comment.

      • Elite

Got to agree with the proud part! I play games that look interesting. Every console has games that are this way. With that being said, i will purchase those consoles for these games. I would have to say though that loyalty is purchasing their console period, which in-turn is showing support.

      • Guy with a different purple shield.

        hyrulian shield and master sword.

      • Nko Sekirei

dude no ones talking about demon souls u dont need to troll man

        • Lancer

I wasn’t trolling, I was just saying that ALL systems have good games on them. If you are a “loyal” Nintendo fan and you only had a wii this gen, to be honest you’ve missed out on some incredible games. Just like a “loyal” Sony fan without a wii/360 would have missed out on incredible games… Being loyal to a company is fine I guess but in the end I don’t think you should restrict yourself to them if it means missing out on great games. We are gamers, not stock holders right?

    • frank

Yeah me too! Got GBA, DS, Wii, 3DS, and soon, Wii U, but nothing else. I’ve played the others and am honestly happy with any working game console, but I can’t ever remember where the xbox and playstation controller buttons are. They’re all good systems, but the wiimotes fit the most naturally in my hand.

    • BananaPwnz

      Nintendo Forever!!!

    • GANO

Nintendo for me lost my loyalty in the last generation. I’ve always played Nintendo platforms (since NES), but 4 years ago I noticed that the up and coming line up of games was thinning and knew I would have to get another system to fill the gapping content holes. Wii-play controls for games I had played a gazillion times on the GCN wasn’t going to cut it.
I’m still getting the WiiU at launch, and can’t wait, but for the first time I no longer fully trust Nintendo to live up to their promises.
I got a 360 but can’t wait to shelve it so I don’t have to put up with its incredibly immature online community.

    • AwayToHit

I hope you did play those games on pc though πŸ˜‰

Same here, I have only owned and bought Nintendo consoles all my life, and my Papa bought the Atari 5200, NES, SuperNES, and N64.

I have played I believe almost every console ever made though at stores or over at friends over the years. And Reggie is right, I played in depth last year Batman AC, all the Mass Effect’s and Assassin’s Creed’s. Honestly I almost bought an Xbox because of Mass Effect 1. They were and are all great games that made me mad that the Wii couldn’t handle them. Being able to run these great 3rd party games on the WiiU is really so awesome for me and that is why I am buying all of them when the WiiU launches.

Having the 3rd party support and having the same games/DLC/HD coming to the WiiU is one BIG reason why the WiiU will be even more successful than the Wii was.

    • TheBoldman67

SAME! But I already pre-ordered Arkham City though.

    • TheImaj

Same here. Have never and will never own a system other than Nintendo. Of course I’m talking about my adult life. Had a Genesis and Game Gear when I was younger. But only Nintendo since! I have seen games on other systems and been quite impressed! Between family and friends I’ve seen some cool shit on PS3 and Xbox. I just never felt the need to own one. Reggie is right. I waited and I’m glad I did!

    • Grodus

Yeah, I LIVE in Nintendo Land. You should see the F-zero attraction right next to my house. It’s just awesome. πŸ˜›

  • DarkNite

A little over 50 days for launch!! and im getting both AC3 and FIFA13 at launch!! yea!!

    • Bobsingh

51 Days, 4 Hours, 55 Minutes, and 15 seconds according to the countdown on my desktop. πŸ˜€

      • DarkNite

ahaha how did you get it?? ive been looking for a countdown to put but idk

        • Bobsingh

I used a program called phantim3. Then I made a custom skin for it.

i could give it to you if you’d like.

      • DarkNite

ahaha how did you get it?? ive been looking for a countdown to put but idk

        • Shane

I’m the one that thumbed up… and down your comment to show that I’m un biased. haha.

  • Hamzilla

    • Nintendude

Not only that, but by Nintendo themselves!

      • AKA-Link77

“Patcher got Nogged the Fugg out!”

  • Ginja Ninja

    Good on ya Reggie πŸ™‚

  • u mad bro

    Interesting :]

  • ZombieGuns

That’s silly to believe the Pro Controller was made only because of Activison. It has so many other uses besides Call of Duty. Just look at ZombieU multiplayer for instance.

    • NoPUNintendo

Or any game that could benefit from just using a standard controller, or just doesn’t have a need for the Gamepad. Honestly, I hope most games use the Pro Controller(as an option). I’m not the type of guy to play with the Gamepad and charge it at the same time, should the battery be low.

  • Carlos Hugo

I’m one of those dedicated people just to the Nintendo platforms and I will enjoy Batman AC on the Wii U.

  • Wake up

That was an awkward interview to say the least.

  • u mad bro

Pachter’s ”Activision forced Nintendo to make Pro controller” rumer quite did not make sense because Nintendo was already going to make it for the Wii U anyways like they did for the Wii. Thank you Reggie Fils Aime for clearing things up.

  • A Loyal Nintendo Fan !

Thumbs UP Those who have been a loyal nintendo fan !
    ( Those Who Didn’t Buy A PS3 OR XBOX 360! )
    I’m one of them.

    • SteampunkJedi

      Clever marketing.

    • Guy with a different purple shield.

if we bought them all do we still get a thumbs up?

    • just ninTendo

LiKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am A LOYAL NINTENDO FAN

    • NintendoGamer

So, that means I was never a loyal Nintendo fan just because I bought a PS1 and n64 back in 1997?

      • Colton

        Obviously you hate Nintendo.

        • NintendoGamer

Even tho my favorite game of all time it’s a Wii Game ( Skyward Sword)

      • NintendoGamer

Also, even tho my favorite console of all time it’s a Nintendo console (SNES)

    • Revolution5268

im glad to see im not the only one, don’t get me wrong im not a nintendo fanboy but this gen console does not even appeal to me. idk if you guys feel the same?

  • A Loyal Nintendo Fan !

Thumbs UP Those who have been a loyal nintendo fan !
    ( Those Who Didn’t Buy A PS3 OR XBOX 360! )
    I’m one of them.

    • Nintedward.

      bless your soul sir !!! I have a 360 and a ps3 , but I don’t have the same personal/emotional attachment I have with them as I do with the wii .

      This new gen ,I think I will go Wiiu +gaming pc + 3ds . thats it . 3 consoles.

      • ZombieGuns

Nice setup. For me it’s going to be just my Gaming PC & Wii U, already sold my PS3 to help pay for the Wii U.

      • Xblade13

        You’re not alone.
Wii U is my first priority. Have yet to get a 3DS, but only due to empty pockets. :/ As soon as I get one (maybe an XL) I’ll share friend codes with everybody!

        In other news, my Wii’s disc drive or something broke. It won’t read discs anymore. Now the wait for Wii U will be even worse! D;
However, I do still have my 64, and 4 games: Donkey Kong 64, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Super Mario 64. Hopefully they’ll keep me busy till the U.

        • Zeldatrek

Sorry about you Wii. Mine has over heating for a while now. So it too will soon die. Sad the only console I have that won’t be working will be the newest. (muti DOA CD-i from Ebay don’t count due to not being me that killed them) But I am not a Nintendo fanboy I am a Zelda fanboy and have been waiting to play AC (both of them bat and nonbat) for awhile now.

      • Ledreppe

Technically speaking the pc isn’t a console. I’ll be using exactly the same setup for my next gen gaming too!

        • Nintedward.

          @ zombie guns , xblade13, ledreppe .

It’s the ultimate set up . Sure we may miss a couple of ps and xb exclusives , but i’m sure we’ll manage with that monster set up ^^ .

xblade -sorr bout your wii bro πŸ™‚ , ledreppe yeh technically a gaming pc isn’t a console . But its close . A power multi tasker is more appropriate .

    • KirboFer

      I have all 3 consoles…
I guess I’m not loyal to Nintendo? :/

      • Guy with a different purple shield.

        dont worry kirbo.
its fine as long as you dont have a vita or iphone.

        • KirboFer

-_- I own both the 3DS and the Vita, and I love both.

  • Nintedward.

I am happy with what the wii did . And I would like it if Nintendo release a new console every 6 years and support it for the best part of 5 years.
The wii provided us with some of the best games of all time . I would be lying if I said I didn’t wish it had less shovelware and more proper games.

But none the less , it was amazing .
I really hope the wiiu just builds on the wii in terms of library. Instead of 40% quality 60% shovelware I hope the wiiu is 65% quality 35% shovelware.
Shovelware is always gunna be there , cus kids and silly people play games too .

    • Zeldatrek

I think if there is no shovelware for a console is a bad sign. That means the console does not have any blind popularity behind it. You can’t sucker people if there are no suckers;)

      • Nintedward

Agreed sir !!! half of the ps2’s library was casual shite.

  • OcarinaOfTime

is this the krusty krab? no, this is Pachter! ..pacher.. preacher..does it matter?

  • Zhenya

LOL i couldn’t stop replaying that last bit of off the video XD

  • bob

    i feel loyal

    • Troll patrol.

      I feel oil .

      • Captain Potato

        i feel soil

        • Xblade13

          I feel royal.

        • maxlazy10

          I feel royal.

          • mojojojo888

Michael Pachter makes my blood boil…

    • Madmagican

      Patcher feels foiled

      • TheImaj

        Are you in toil?

  • Jeffery02

*gasp!* Michael Pachter was wrong!?!? I’m shocked! And I was SO (-_-) sure that nothing out of his mouth is complete crap!

  • Nintendude

I was loyal to Nintendo for most of this generation. I got on Xbox360, but I still played my Wii a lot. Now I don’t need another non-Nintendo console to play 3rd party games.

    • NintendoGamer

Oh, finally. After 3 generations, we Nintendo fans finally get awesome 3rd party content.

      • Elite

Appearently you never played games like Resident Evil 4, Phantasy star online, ect on the GameCube. Wii had some good third party games

        • Zeldatrek

I tried RE4 on GC and didn’t like it. Gave it a 2nd chance on the Wii and loved it. Go fig?

  • Major Beauner

I own a Wii, and dont own a PS3 or 360…..The Wii has been very good to me. Nintendo is my King and I have loyalty to only Nintendo!!

  • FishFan03

I have a Wii and a PS3 but I’m really looking forward to the Wii U. Mario and Zelda in stunning HIGH DEF BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Captain Potato

Have been a Nintendo faithful since the NES days! The only other system I’ve owned besides a Nintendo system was the Dreamcast! Never saw the need for an Xbox or Playstation because my PC makes them look like TRS80’s! LOL!

  • Kreft

I feel very sorry for those people who just had a wii this generation. No 360 or ps3? Tough times. :/

    • Major Beauner

LOL…..don’t feel sorry for me, I have a PC to play games on too.

    • Herz

Don’t feel bad. The Wii still had a great library of games. It just gets overlooked due to the amount of shovelware that ended up on the wii too. I myself only got a PS3 last year and that was mainly for sports games (the EA wii games were pretty bad in my opinion), some games like demon’s/dark souls, and a bluray player. I honestly use my PS3 for playing movies more than i do games. The wii is where i turn for gaming. Not to mention i also have a backlog of great gamecube games that i can play on it along with what i’ve downloaded for the VC.

    • Arsonist Monkey

The only reason i use the xbox and a ps3 is because you couldn’t get Fallout 3, GTA IV, Assassins Creed, Mortal Kombat and other games on the Wii.

  • Anthony W

Reggie just gave pachter the D

    • Gabe Hoffman

Nintendo proves Pachter wrong, suck it Pachter!

      • Nintenlord

Actualy it was activison and tryearch who own him cause wii u is having the best version of black ops2

  • Alienfish

I don’t think it’s necessarily just the people that only play Nintendo platforms that will be benefiting from the release of updated ports like Arkham City and Mass Effect 3, but also people that are into owning more than one platform, but have limited cash. I for one have actually skipped every single one of these ports that I could have gotten on PS3 if favor of another game, such as Skyward Sword or Kid Icarus. On the other hand I’ve overlooked games like Metroid: Other M and both of the undoubtedly great Kirby games in favor of Red Dead Redemption, Resident Evil 5, and quite a few others that have shown up on PS3.

If WiiU continues on the path it’s starting, then I might become a Nintendo only person before the next Playstation comes out. Of course, I’m a huge Rockstar* fan so if they don’t bring their games to Nintendo I’ll have to branch out a bit. I will be sad if GTAV doesn’t come to WiiU, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be missing out on it.

    • ObiBoing

I have done that as well.
I could have gotten Mass Effect 3 for my PS3 or 360 anytime but like always there was that Nintendo game I had to have, so I put it off.

Now I am definitely getting it for Wii U since I am interested to see what features is gonna have for the Gamepad and beacause it comes with the DLC people had to pay for some time ago. I am also considering buying Darksiders II for that same reason.

  • Nintendo fan

Never brought a Xbox or playstation. I am loyal to Nitendo. It is in my name.

  • Nintendo fan

Never brought a Xbox or playstation. I am loyal to Nitendo. It is in my name.

  • SideScreamer

Been a loyal Nintendo fan does not mean not owning an Xbox 360 or PS3.
It’s all about what you like. For example. I own a 360 just for Halo.

  • Chocer

I have only Nintendo platforms, but I have played a lot of Ps3 and Xbox games. I have played AC on other consoles. They don’t give me that feel that the Wii did. I know Wii has crappy 3rd parties, and I can see that because I have played them on other systems. I will buy the 3rd parties because of the graphics, and the gamepad.

  • Billy

Reggie is so fake in his interviews.Typical dodging questions and PR crap.

    • CountShaqula

I think its called doing your job.

You know so you can afford to feed your family, make payments, get health insurance, ect. I don’t think anyone with half a brain is going to go against the grain. Just to look cool to a couple of geeks on the internet. I think surviving, and maintaining a job. Is probably more important.

Yea I think he’s fake, but what business men aren’t? It’s all part of the game.

      • Alienfish

Exactly, Reggie has things he can say and definitely can’t say. CEO admitting that their company was weak at one point? Unlikely, but likely to get canned for doing so. I actually think the interviewer was a huge dick here. Reggie probably could have dealt with the questions (especially the one about weak Wii presence) a little more gracefully, but the fact that he did stumble a bit shows to me that he IS an honest person and isn’t always prepared with the greatest lie or deviation for any given situation. If I was there though, I would have said something about the end of the console’s life cycle and the fact that all those developers were working on making the WiiU strong at the time. Direct attention away from the negative and give them something positive to chew on, that’s how you do it.

      • totesawks

It’s a fair point tho. Look at Shigsy when he gives his interviews albeit, subtitled. You can just tell from the expressions on his face, mannerisms that he is a bit more real. Reggie just comes across like a politician to me. His presentation style is awful

        • Xblade13

          Reggie for U.S. President! πŸ˜›

    • Nintenlord

      Interview to sony rep
Hi rep thank you for being

    • Nko Sekirei

stfu u cactus banger u dont know wat ur talking about u douche

  • SteampunkJedi

I have been loyal to Nintendo. I never got a PS3 or 360. I loved many Wii games, but I’m very glad that the Wii U will have HD and be able to play such hit third-party games.

  • smallNdeadly

Love my ps3…mostly due to the hd 3d games like Batman. Will I get ps4…prob not due to the expected costs…prob b cheaper to get a pc by then and build it up to gaming rig

  • Amtoj

Kept nothing but my Wii, played PS3 and XBox at my friends’ houses =P.

  • Josh

It was just a matter of time before Pachter’s rumor got destroyed. His body wasn’t ready. And yes, I’m a loyal Nintendo fan, I never bought a PS3 or a 360.

  • Kahhhhyle

Please reggie loyalty? Maybe if I could play those games in the wii I wouldn’t have to buy an Xbox or ps3. You got Zelda which is awesome. But where is my fallout, bioshock, call of duty, borderlands? If you supply the decent games I have no reason to buy an Xbox but when you have 0 games coming out in 2012 what am I supposed to do?

You know, I really don’t understand people. If you want the game, buy the system. Simple as that. I want Nintendo games, so I will always buy Nintendo systems. The real challenge is between Sony and Microsoft because they both have the same 3rd party games (for the most part) so they have to convince me which system of those 2 I want to use for 3rd party games. The only 3rd party games I want to play on the Nintendo systems are those specifically made for it. Simple as that. I recently bought The Last Story because it’s a 3rd party game specifically made for the Wii (although I hate the fact it doesn’t use motion controls).

    • Kahhhhyle

If Nintendo had the 3rd party support of the Xbox or ps3 Nintendo would bury them. Nintendo’s exclusives far out weigh both of those consoles combined. Again if we could play those games on a Nintendo consoles we would have no reason to buy an Xbox/ps3. Which is what Nintendo should be trying to do

      • Xblade13

But we ARE getting those games on the Wii U. Darksiders 2, Assassins Creed III, COD Black Ops II. All Nintendo needs to do now is announce Grand Theft Auto 5 and Bioshock Infinite, and Wii U will have everything.

        • Kahhhhyle

They need to keep it up though. The real test will come with the release of the other next gen consoles

  • Trev

I love nintendo and feel very loyal but i did buy a ps3 a yesr ago because noa sucks snd didnt localize some gamed. I felt betrayed because they hardly released any games for the wii. I dont expect every game to be localized but aleast localize a few. Well eventually xenoblade last story and the kirby colection was released anf i learned not to doubt nintendo. my ps3 id just blu ray player now. I have owned all nintendo consoles except the 64 and game boy advance.

  • CountShaqula

I’m not a Nintendo loyalist, because I think loyalty to anything is weakness. I do have a preference to Nintendo though.

I’ve owned a Wii, 360, PS3, and a PC. As my experiences go. I got the Wii when it came out. I loved it for a while, but at that time I was young. I “grew” out of it, and proceeded to get a 360. Like everyone else that was my age at that time. I played it for quite a while, but after I got out of high school, and developed a sense of maturity. The 360 became stale to me. It seemed as if everything was overly dark, and brooding. I was left asking myself where the fun went in these GAMES I was playing. So I hooked my Wii back up, and rediscovered its magic. The multiple games that not only had charm, and character, but were fun. As for the PS3 it was my last purchase after selling my 360. I also really enjoyed the dynamic between the first party games. From Little Big Planet to God of War.

So for me gaming on the PC/360 turned stale. The PS3 was great fun, but I don’t think anything had the charm that the Wii did, for me at least. If the Wii U continues its great first, and third party support. I think its a large possibility that its the only console ill be gaming on for a long time. I do have interest in the PS4, but if the Wii U maintained that third party support. As much as I like Sony’s first party games. I wouldn’t be in a rush to buy another console, and I’d be satisfied gaming only on the Wii U.

  • Shane

I have a Wii(since day one), PS3 slim(since slim came out and it was “better”), Xbox 360 Slim[(since slim came out and upgraded to GOW3 version)I didn’t even consider Xbox Original to be an option], and I honestly think they are all great. I was a dedicated Nintendo fan since I was 5, playing Super Mario Bros. 3 as my first game, and always went for Nintendo. I even thought it was weird going to play a different system besides Sega because thats all that was around back then. I wanted a Dreamcast SOOOO bad, ok, because I liked Sega alot, right along side Nintendo, which is the system my family knew was good for us, and I was little I knew not much more. What I’m trying to say is, all the game companies are great in their own way, and I honestly wouldn’t mind if they ALL ended up being the same company. I don’t know how it would work out business wise, or any of that economic/politic standing, or in terms of what content is made, but I like all of the XBox exclusives, and will ONLY buy those for that console. I will buy all the Playstation exclusives that come out(multiplatform games for PS too), and the Wii will always have Mario, Zelda, etc… You can’t tell me Killzone sucks, or Gears of War. I would rather have either of those anyday over Call of Duty, which in my opinion should have been handled alot more carefully than it was.

I like game, and if I had enough MONEY to buy everything in the whole world, I would, but as of now it’s pick and choose. I’m getting a Playstation 3d tv sonn and I’m hooking up all my consoles. I LOVE ALL GAMES!!!!!!

  • logan7699

Not me i got all three.. but have already paid off my WiiU deluxe… The First pay check i ever had i bought a Snes…

  • Shane

BTW, that G4 guy seems like a complete jerk. He didn’t appear to have any respect for Reggie. A TRUE gamer would live forever on the games they released, and be happy no matter what. I think people are SO LUCKY that they get in that position to have a say to some of the most important people in the industry, and they decide to be disrespectful…. It’s kind of sad. Everyone knows Reggie is just trying to spread fun games to everyone.

    • Kahhhhyle

Oh so what we just play Zelda and smash over and over again until Nintendo releases the next console? And we just sit there as act like we’re happy about it? I love Nintendo, but they made mistakes with the wii, 3rd party support being the worst, I want variety, I wanna play everything.

      • Relax

Dude chill out, no one is saying Nintendo didn’t make mistakes. However, third party support was purely that, third party. Nintendo could not force a company to make a game for it if they didn’t want to. It is up to all software teams to decide whether or not they want to take advantage of a unique engine/dev kit. If third party dev teams have a lack of imagination to do something innovative with the Wii interface, that’s their problem not Nintendo’s. The big N is known for being stubborn, sometimes to their detriment, but it is silly to say you didn’t have variety on the system when all you had to do was look for it.

        • Kahhhhyle

I’m sorry if I come off angry lol. But this kind of comment annoys me, “A TRUE gamer would live forever on the games they released, and be happy no matter what”. That’s not how it should be I shouldn’t care about other consoles because Nintendo should have consistent quality software on their system. Which they did not do, and now I gotta hear this about loyalty lol.

  • TheUNation

  • Hi8us

You had to own more than one console to play all the best games this gen. I hope Nintendo gets the third party support they deserve next gen. Games like watchdogs, star wars 1313, metal gear ground zeroes and GTA5 give us a peek at what next gen gaming will be like. Nintendo needs these games on their console.

  • xXHaizeXx

Did anyone else think the guy from GT was kind of a douche bag?

Anyway, I’ve always considered myself a loyal Nintendo fan. I argued with friends back in the day about SNES vs Genesis or Mario vs Sonic. But this last generation of consoles, I did end up buying both a Wii and a PS3. I got the Wii first and I had some of the best gaming experiences this generation on ny Wii. But, at the same time, those experiences were from Nintendo games like Smash Bros. or Zelda. And a lot of those games were may months apart. Plus my gf had a PS2 and a bunch of great games so when we ran out of things to do, it only seemed logical to get a PS3 because now a whole slew of games were open to us.

This time is different tho. The Wii U is going to dominate first party and second party exclusives on top of having great third party support. And they have promised a strong online infrastructure, so it’s starting to sound like the Wii U will be my one and only console this generation. Even if there is a killer exclusive on the PS4, I won’t buy a new console for 1 game.

  • WII U 4 LIFE

    Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime to Michael Pachter…….FACEPALM!!!!!!!!!!!
That is for all the lies you spread about nintendo

  • Volk

I didn’t buy another console, but that was due to lack of funds… AFTER I have a WiiU and a few games, I’ll consider a PS3 for some of the games I missed this gen. (Maybe a PS2 too… I was hoping another Star Wars Battlefront game would be out by now, but I guess after what happened with Free Radical we may never see another.)

Yeah I’ve been loyal too Nintendo pretty much, have mainly had Nintendo systems ,X2 GB SP, X5 DS Lites (one from a friend), DSi, Wii, and next Wii U. I’ve had a 2 PS2s but got one from my cousin then my mom and dad bought me a used one a long while back, have wanted a PS3 so I can play with all my other friends and family but have never gotten one yet, been looking for s cheap one somewhere but still haven’t had the money but I’m saving up money from a job I help my mom with too get the Wii U.

  • Isaac_Triplex

anything but sony,,, i dont like sony, we dont get along

  • Christian

Y’know, I have a PS3, 2 X-Box’s (both are broken), but I tend to favor my Wii, 3DS, Gamecube, 64, GBA, and GBC better than the two, because Nintendo has a strong first party, while the only first party games of Sony and Microsoft I know of is for their new controllers or hardware. The duo totally depend on third party, while Nintendo can probably live off of their first party, along with some third party. That’s what made the Wii, Gamecube, 3DS, etc. great. I’m not the biggest die-hard fan for Nintendo, but I own the majority of their home consoles, so that’s gotta count for something.

    • Kahhhhyle

Well we learned from the wii that Nintendo can’t live off their first party alone

      • Xblade13

The Wii outsold the other 2 pretty well, with little 3rd party support. Apparently they can.

        • Kahhhhyle

And what are wii’s doing now? Sitting on gamestop shelves collecting dust. Not to mention the hardcore crowd Nintendo is after doesn’t hold the wii in high regard to say the least. And while they might have shipped more hardware they never came close to the other consoles in terms of software sales

          • Hi8us

Incorrect sir. games on wii, nintendo’s games anyway, sell more than most first and third party games on the other 2 consoles.

          • Kahhhhyle

            Oh yeah hi8us which ones?

          • Hi8us

Of the top 10 best selling PS3 games, only 3 have sold over 10 million. those three games have all been call of duty. Of the top 10 best selling Xbox 360 games, five have passed 10 million. Those same 3 call of duties plus halo 3 and kinect adventures. Of the top 10 best selling Wii games, 9 have passed 10 million, all of those have been nintendo’s own games.

  • Dan

I never once a loyal Nintendo fan but I always defend them from kids who play “mature” games on 360 and ps3,,,, i bet they will never finish any zelda game with out strategy guides!!!

  • mantawing

I have a Wii and a PS3, 3dsxl, and Vita(I really regret that purchase). Looking forward to Wii U as my only console for next gen. Leave Luck to Heaven! ^v^

  • Yodin

I like my Wii and i pre-ordered a Wii U… The only reason i have an PS3 is to play Racing games mostly, i only have 2 racing games on the Wii as they don’t make very good racing games on any Nintendo consoles in the past that i tried. now i am hoping for some good racing games for the Wii U.

    • Dan

Fzero , mario kart, need for speed??

  • just NINTENDO

50 days / 23 hours / 39 minutes and 25 second to the best game console in 8th gen and the next nintendo successful game console i will buy the basic set in day 1 i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wii U Gamer#19

Well i’ve been a Nintendo fan since the SNES days, and it’s the console with the most games that cameout on my birthday (1992) also one of my treasured games for SNES is Super Mario Kart because it cameout on the year i was born.

Also, i own mostly every Nintendo console so far i own SNES, N64, x2 GCN” Indigo & Platinum, Wii, but the only one i don’t own is the NES, and i asked for it for my birthday” which is tomarrow, πŸ™‚
    and i also pre-ordered my Wii U Deluxe on Sep 13. πŸ™‚

Also” i own a 3DS/Cosmo Black which im very happy with cause the last Nintendo hand held i owned was a yellow GBC, but lossed it πŸ™ after that i really didn’t like the designs of the hand helds after that, so i told myself when Nintendo makes a good design hand held i’ll by it, and many years later in 2010 they did just that with the β€œ3DS” but i waited 2 years to buy it cause that’s when i knew they’d start pumpin out awesome games and it was to expensive for me before the pricecut” so i saved my money & bought one and im happy.

Also i plan on buying a Gameboy Advance Indigo to match my Indigo GCN.

So yes im a nintendo Addict xD and im glad to be one. πŸ™‚

    • Xblade13

1992: the year of dreams. πŸ™‚
For me, most played SNES game was Super Mario World, followed by Actraiser, A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy 6.

      Systems I own:
      used to have NES, Sega Genesis, and Atari, don’t know WHAT happened to them D;
still got my SNES, but somehow only have the console itself. Lost all the games, controllers, and cords πŸ™
N64 is still working fine. πŸ˜‰
Wii (just broke, won’t play discs anymore. πŸ™ ) Can still get on Internet, though.
      going to get Wii U
used to have Gameboy Micro- traded it for DSlite
plan to get 3DS (or XL) when I can get the money. When I do, I’ll share Friend Codes!

    • [CMD] DEATH

Oh your birthday is tomorrow? Well happy early birthday! :D, that’s cool, my comment up there says what I’ve had lol. Cause I didn’t pre-order the Wii U I’m hoping too get it when it comes out but I want the Deluve version.

    • [CMD] DEATH

    Also can’t wait to be 20” πŸ™‚

  • Nintenjoe64

The whole Pachter Black Ops 2 Classic Pro rumour really annoyed me and I’ve been trolled on quite a few sites for trying to explain why there is no way Nintendo made it for any reason other than to make a wii u gamepad without a screen for player 2.

    a) Nintendo never listen to 3rd parties, even when they have good ideas
    b) It is a wii classic controller slightly updated but same button layout
    c) It has the wii u gamepad button layout

  • jcnba28

    Metroid Prime 4 PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • eyesac

  • Nintengoth

Being the ultra Ninty fan that i am i did by a 360, at the time i really wanted to play RE5 and Dead Space, i know hes saying ppl who wana play batman on a Ninty console now can but what about other games that intrest other folks? i LOVE Dead Space cant wait for the 3rd, and i LOVE Crysis and again can wait for the 3rd, i really enjoyed Borderlands 1&2, Darksiders 1&2, Metro 2033, RAGE, Split Second, Batman 1&2, GRFS and so on… 90% of the games i love will never come to a Ninty console.
Now that the Wii U is coming i nw have more of a chance to get the games i love, i doubt my Crysis and Dead Space will come to it but hey lol

  • Lusunup

how rude is Geoff Keighly >:/ in the beginning he tried talking over Reggie

  • Ibiexplorer4

The more I read Kyo Sasaki’s articles, the more I’m convinced that he’s the best author on this site.

    Keep up the good work!

  • JVAN

I bought a 360 last summer, because I had to play L4D(2) and Doom. However, I’ve alway had a Nintendo system, and have a Black WiiU, Pro controller, Super Mario U, and ZombiU on paid preorder at Gamestop. I’m psyched!

And I’m keeping my Wii so I can still play my Gamecube games, I’ll just have one sensor bar for the U, since I’ll play all Wii games on it. I have this thing where I want to have all Zelda and Mario games available all the time, without Internet dependence.

  • Katherine E.C.

If it weren’t for the Fable series I probably wouldn’t have gotten so addicted to my 360. Now it’s full of DLC and is going to be kept. But I am most definitely looking forward to the Wii U, and if I hadn’t known it was coming I would have bought a Wii months ago when I could finally afford it. I love the Super Mario games, and I am a wee bit addicted. I have had every Nintendo handheld device since the Pikachu Gameboy Colour through the DSiXL.

  • Elite

With the comment of those who have nintendo consoles only, why then are publishers putting out sequals to games that these nintendo only players would have never played. Nintendo is also publishing one of those games themselves “Ninja Gaiden 3!”

    • Elite

I for one though would not pick up a sequel to a game unless i have played the first one.

    • TrueWiiMaster

Does it really matter if you play the earlier Ninja Gaidens? I’ve never touched the series, so I’m seriously asking. It doesn’t look like a franchise with an amazing/important continuing story.

      • Zeldatrek

I’ve played the first to Ninja Gaiden games on NES does that count?

  • Dan7el(Wiiu day one purchase)

Good job Reggie. Well played. I occasionally in my life have had a sony system but then I’ll sell it to get more Nintendo products. I have owned every console and handheld since the SNES. They are the reason I play video games. Thank you Nintendo. I want my deluxe now… Is it Nov. 18 yet…

  • TrueWiiMaster

I’m one of those people who never bought a PS3 or 360. I’ve wanted to play a few of their games, namely Bioshock, RAGE, Mass Effect, and Red Dead Redemption, but those weren’t enough to justify a purchase. I still think I’ll get a PS3 some day, mainly for the PS1 games and blu-ray player. I just hope I don’t end up stuck with the cheap-looking new model though.

  • thejam216

    I’m loyal since SNES πŸ˜€

  • JC

Don’t get me wrong but My last Nintendo console was the GameCube and now Nintendo gained my confidence again πŸ™‚

  • Madmagican

I literally grew up with Nintendo consoles and have never gone astray. I think the furthest I’ve ever gone away from nintendo was when I had NES and SNES emulators for PC since they were before my time and you can’t really find them around too much…. I didn’t get to pre-order a Wii U cuz I’m broke πŸ™

  • Pikmaster

    Screw you sony/microsoft.

  • Nko Sekirei

ive been a nintendo loyal fan since the nes days and i ll still play on nintendo system

  • NintenBro

“You’re going to disrespect me in my own house?” lol. Reg played it off cool. But you can see in eyes he was like “dafuq?? You want to get smacked!?” haha.

  • Zeldatrek

No matter how powerful it is the first of the gen sets the standard with one exception Sega Dreamcast. *And I’ve only had a Nintendo console since Nes. (cdi never really built for games and PC is not a console) Atari 2600 4 life XD

  • super horny

    im so loyal to nintendo

  • Le Sauvage

Reggie’s right, I’ve been with nintendo consoles since the 64 and havnt moved since

  • Disciplelicious

Never had a console made by Microsoft or Sony. Never want to. Nintendo is the only one worthwhile!

  • Cid

There are too many great games out there that doesn’t make it to Nintendo consoles, so I’ve got a PS3 also and im really happy for having both.
