A new game has popped up on Kickstarter that looks promising and with a Wii U stretch goal set at $400k. Red Goddess seems to take inspiration from Nintendo’s Super Princess Peach, in that you control the emotions of the character in order to progress through the level. Emotions are a lot less… questionable in Red Goddess however, as it looks like the emotions being showcased are based on elements and specific feelings, instead of the stereotypical approach of Super Princess Peach.

Players can harness the power of rage and engulf themselves in flames, while harnessing the power of fear seems to invoke ice. All three states of being are supposed to have a unique play style, which could lend to some fantastic puzzles in the finished game.

The above trailer is pretty brief, but it does show off some of the gameplay. The game seems to focus on platforming and puzzling and the aesthetic style really reminds me of the WiiWare title Lost Winds. Check out some of these screenshots from the Kickstarter:

You’ve got my attention and I got to say I’m impressed

  • RyuNoHadouken

dude, hold my shovel. this one’s gonna need a backhoe

  • palomino blue

So it takes $350k to port a game over to Wii U…

Hey Wii U Daily, Cabelas Big Game Hunter Pro Hunts is coming to the Wii U on March 25th. Every game news counts.

Sorry, I know I’m not suppose to post this in the comment section. But I forgot where the suggestions are.

    • Virus6

There’s a nice big button at the top of the page.

        That’s no moon, that’s a banner

    • Brandon

TBH nobody cares about that game. Its boring and not much wii u owner is going to play that. Not trying to be rude or anything just point that out.

      • gtosheex

haha! funniest comment i’ve seen in a while

      • Ducked

Not much Wii U owner? Boring games are reported all the time, another one isn’t hurting anything.

        • Brandon

Im just saying that game is at the bottom of the list for many wii u owners I can bet.

I hate it when they put additional platforms at ridiculous levels. The Wii U version is nearly double the price of the PS4/Vita version. There is no way it actually costs them nearly $200,000 EXTRA just to port on Wii U. If you are going to have stretches for multiple platforms, make them equal or REALLY damn close.

    • Yeah I agree with you. The stretch goal for Wii U seems a bit ridiculous, but the game does seem interesting.

      • gtosheex

their goals are a bit repetitive as well… “new areas…100k later… expanded areas…. another 100k later… more expanded world and areas… finally another 100k later…. WII U VERSION!!!”

    • DC777

Yeah it looks pretty good but tell them to eat ramen noodles and pay some of that themselves.

    • Michael DeVore

You’d think it would just be DevKit cost plus 1 indie programmers salary for a few months(~90k per year) plus eShop publishing cost. If they thought it would take 1 year I could see them estimating 100k, but only if it would actually take a full year.

    • matt

Listen the order of these things has nothing to do with 1 platform needing more money its just the order of priority….each platform cost about the same to develo for……

  • Ocio Aguilera

I want it!!!! Great music and art style

  • Brandon

This game looks pretty good, but another platformer jeez. Most likly going to get it for ps4, if I get it.

  • metalpants

All that potential… wasted on 2D side-scrolling/platforming… again… like 95% of all eShop titles…………. Why? Is there any way to make this genre stop flooding the Wii U?

Lots of Nintendo fans go on about how generic FPSs rule the “hardcore” market (brocore more accurately), but ironically, the “brocore”can say the EXACT same thing about us thanks to the absurd upsurge of this annoying genre. Not fair to those of us that are dead sick of it.

    • YayGs

How about side scrolling action puzzle?

      • metalpants

How about action puzzle WITHOUT the freaking side-scrolling?

    • Mario

i agree that indie developers exaggerating a little bit with the 2D platforming genre.

  • Christian Schoff

I’m sorry but no. Nope. The game looks cool but the goals and rewards for certain tiers look like a major rip off.

  • Capt. Smoker

Looks good, it can’t compare to super princess Peach though 🙂

  • Coconut Fanatic

This game looks very promising, I hope it reaches the Wii U stretch goal.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

It does look interesting no doubt. The 400k goal for a Wii U release is probably unlikely.

  • ZeldaFanzzzz

oh my god, the game looks really good and the music really fits the game.

  • Kaihaku

Not going to back unless somehow they miraculously come close to the absurdly high Wii U stretch goal. Even then, while this looks like it could be a promising platformer…there are so many top of the line platformers either out now or coming soon that I don’t know that I’d back another one.

  • Booboabao

The Wii U stretch goal is now updated it stands at $250k now.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeah, I think they goofed and finally corrected it. Though, their kickstarter campaign is going slow so far. not even at a $1000 yet.

  • Jon Neale

With the art style very much in the lost winds style and a format that we seem to see a lot at the moment I think ths will struggle to reach its wii u stretch goal.

  • Saul Rivera

They dropped the goal from 400k to 250k

  • How about, an indie shooter for wiiu? or. maybe some Indie beat em up? why no double dragon neo on wiiu? since double dragon once was on the nes.
all these puzzle and side scrollers may be great, but i have mario, and i have zelda, and i have pikmin. i dont need more of these games.

  • X3Charlie

I’m just a little tired of platformers. I like my third dimension.
