Rayman Legends was released last year to high critical acclaim on the Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The title was originally supposed to be a Wii U exclusive released in February of 2013, but Ubisoft decided to delay it in order to expand the game to other consoles. Now the game has been made available on the two newest consoles, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Digital Foundry compared the three new generation consoles in order to determine which had the best performance and appearance and a clear winner was the Wii U. Of course Digital Foundry takes into consideration that the game was built from the ground up to be a Wii U title, so it makes sense that their assessment chooses it as the definitive version to play the game. Despite the enormous leap in power the new consoles represent, in our opinion it’s the Wii U version of Rayman Legends that remains the definitive edition of the game, with the title taking advantage of the GamePad’s unique features in ways that genuinely add variety and more fun to the gameplay. Let’s not forget that while this game may have been ported to a vast range of different hardware platforms, it started out life as a Wii U exclusive, built around the unique capabilities of the system. Indeed, it’s the Nintendo console that offers the experience that the developers originally intended for the game, before the last-minute switch to a multi-platform release. Be sure and check out our review of Rayman Legends, which earned high praises. The game is currently on sale pretty cheap at Amazon as well, if you’ve yet to pick it up. local_offer Michael Ancel Nintendo Rayman Legends ubisoft wii u stars Further Reading F-Zero X gets updated on Wii U to fix control New Zelda Breath of the Wild trailer and game Super Mario Maker Wii U vs 3DS comparison (vi Get Ocarina of Time on 3DS for only $14 New teaser site for Zelda: Breath of the Wild released How to track NES Classic Mini stock in time for Christmas Donaald Always has, always will. verymetal Can’t argue with the fact that the Wii U is the king of platformers. crocodileman94 The problem is that they’re the peasant of most other genres. Mithiragi Yeah. Most of the current Wii U exclusives are platformers lol. Rayman Legends-platformer, SM3DW-platformer, NSMBU-platformer, Sonic Lost World-platformer, DKCTF-platformer. LordiMcKill Lets not forget the indie titles as well, some might not be exclusive but there’s still a hell of a lot of platformers on the eShop. Mithiragi Yup. Daniel Gonzalez Platformers are appreciated. Though, too many over saturates. thedeciderU agree. when i bought the wii u, i was amidst a year of diving back in to games, playing many i’d missed (that weren’t even current), and mostly i played platformers since they’re among my favorites. the eshop offers lots of great stuff, as does nintendo, but i’m almost starting to get a little sick of them (not nintendo) and turning to other experiences. mostly my own fault for choosing platformer after platformer, but there are a hell of a lot of them on the wiiu (so far). Enumerating Wishes Time to buy/play all the FPS games that’ll be on the Xbox One! thedeciderU i’m just trying to catch up with all the 360 and ps3 fps offerings!i have many, many to go haha, oh, and playing doom as well greengecko007 Too bad Rayman Legends isn’t exclusive to the Wii U, but Yarn Yoshi, or whatever it ends up being titled, will be coming to the Wii U in the year “eventually”. Actually, it will probably launch with Half Life 3 as a direct competitor. val berger I don’t really seeyarn yoshi being released. They could do some episodic dowlowad-gamestuff with it, but even though I claim Yoshi’s Island to be one of the greatest games of all time, I wouldn’t buy Yarn Yoshi. Daniel Gonzalez That’s been done with Kirby already. Unless they’re gonna turn every Nintendo character into a yarn counterpart. val berger yeah and since Yoshi’s Story I wouldn’t really play Yoshi-only-games anyway. Just not appealing. Daniel Gonzalez Same. When I did play Mario games, I found him more fitting with Mario and company. By himself in his own game, he’s not interesting enough to hold my attention for a whole game. Arthur Jarret … and that’s why they added Poochy. Everything’s great with Poochy! thedeciderU yoshi’s cookie? hahaha Arthur Jarret I would LOVE that. Kirby’s epic yarn may have been easy, ultra-happy, totally not aimed at an adult male with a mortgage and a full time job… but during my time breezing through the game – I couldn’t stop smiling. Can’t wait until Yarn Yoshi is released – and I really hope more platform characters get the same treatment eventually. Wario’s Golden Yarn, Donkey Kong Yarny, a boy and his yarny blob… but I hope – most of all – that the Yarn-games become a series that puts long-forgotten Nintendo characters into the spotlight. Imagine a Urban Fighter Yarn – finally updating the game to be the next Streets of Rage with brutal yarn-based special moves and visuals. A Yarn Climbers, putting Popo and Nana up against yarning polar bears. Kid Icarus: Heavenly Yarn – a throwback to the 2D Kid Icarus of NES and GB And – of course – Starfy’s Legendary Yarn. And because a Sonic & Mario minigame compilation being the 2nd exclusive Wii U Sonic title is stupid: Sonic the Yarnhog & Knuckles. Daniel Gonzalez Hahaha. Yeeeeeah….that’s over doing it a bit. 😛 Arthur Jarret Only a bit? Okay, okay… they can shelve the idea for an Urban Champion Yarn. thedeciderU yarn idea only aside, it’d be neat for nintendo to continue to experiment with new art direction for each main character in their franchises. they keep the gameplay fresh, why not take risks with aesthetics? edit: well, we see how sonic turned out. i have to be honest, i like sonic best in his 1991 incarnation. maybe i’m way off with the above comment. Arthur Jarret In a way, they have been doing that on numerous occasions. Take, for instance, the cell shaded art style of Smash bros. 3DS. Paper Mario back in the N64 days, Warioland: Shake it! on wii (gorgeous game, by the way), the choice to make cell-shaded pokemon instead of the already-made 3D pokedex ones for X and Y. Of course, kirby’s yarn is part of this list as well. Not to mention they change the looks of each Zelda game. I do wish they’d take more of these risks. I’d love for the next New super mario game to channel the classic interplay days and make a full claymation game instead of using slightly updated assets we already seen before. thedeciderU yeah, you’re right that have been doing it for years and years, but i’d like to see them go further with it, and i really like your idea of a claymation game. a stop-motion look would be really awesome, and i assume the console could handle that. i doubt we’ve really seen how far it can be stretched at this point. Andrew Phillips Styarntropics? Squid Don’t forget the indie platformers, as well as Sonic Boom and Ducktales. jrob23 LOL, Zelda, Smash Bros., Mario Kart and Metroid say hi!! oontz Ha, ha, and there we go. Daniel Gonzalez That’s not saying a lot. 504HotBoy It depends on if you’re in to those type of games. If you are, then yeah it means a lot. Personally my favorite genres are RPG (mainly JRPG), Adventure, Action, Platformers, & Survival Horror. Daniel Gonzalez I do like platforms, but I don’t think I want Nintendo known as just that. I think I’ve seen enough of them. 504HotBoy Yeah, but speaking in general. If you’re fan of a genre and you own a certain console and that console has a nice quantity of those type of games. Than that’s a good thing for you. I remember the only reason why I bought a 360 was for a time they were coming with the JRPGs. Infinite Undiscovery, Tales Of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Magna Carta 2, The Last Remnant, Eternal Sonata, etc. In reality I wouldn’t have never bought a 360, as I mostly support Japanese systems/games. But that’s what attracted me to the system. But that dies out and now my PS3 is the king for JRPGs. I’m pretty sure that will continue on PS4, one of the main reasons I got a PS4. So it’s a good thing when a console has the type of games you like. val berger true that, especially as Nintendo is capable of showing, that they actually are quite capable of creating much more. They even managed to create a strategy franchise for home consoles, which isn’t really such an easy thing to do. If they just want, they can achieve quite something. Daniel Gonzalez That’s my main problem with Nintendo, they tend to stay where they’re comfortable at. They are capable of a lot. They have little to lose with the money they’ve saved for the last few decades. I’d like to see more IP created. It’s nice that there is a new one being developed, but we haven’t see anything so far yet. If there’s one thing that would get people to buy a Wii U it would be a Pokemon MMO. Fans would eat that up. I doubt it’ll happen, but it is a nice idea. val berger Yeah, Nintendo just doesn’t want to create a fullscale Pokemon Game for a home console. I can’t really follow that logic. sure, they are called ‘pocketmonsters’ so they are considerd to be played on the go, but still, they should do it like they do with Smash Bros. A fullscale MMO with 3DS&WiiU support. Best possible graphics on the home console would then convert 3DS-players into WiiU-owners. Goddammit,Nintendo, hire me, I’m your saviour =) Problem is, I don’t care about pokemon. In general I kinda understand and respect their product-strategy. They got Super Mario to cover Jump’n Runs. Zelda for Fantasy Action Adventures. Metroid for Sci Fi Shooter/Adventures and so on. Today, Nintendo would have to come up with a completely new genre or gametype to justify the creation of a new IP. The last ones, WiiSport (and all related games like Party, Nintendoland and so on) or Pikmin also covered quite some genres. I personally don’t necessarily need a new IP for the sake of creating new IPs. On the PS3/4 for instance you always see new IPs with the same gameplay elements coming up and Nintendo often succeeds really adding something new to an existing franchise. Like SM3DW looked like some very washed out and unimaginative game when they announced it and became one of my favorite games of all time because it really did things, no game of that series ever did. And I’d like to see this happening a bit more often. Yesterday I watched a video about the worst Zeldas of all time and one guy there said OoT, not because it’s a bad game, but because it was so good, it didn’t leave anything left for it’s successors and everything can’t stand on its own feet ever since and that’s exactly what I’m talking about. I don’t necessarily need a new IP if they would manage to really improve their existing ones and add something fresh. Metroid Prime felt very fresh when it got released 10yrs ago although it was basically a 3Dversion of Super Metroid. Still, this totally worked (at least for me) so sometimes they just need to tweak theior style and way of thinking a little to create something new that still fits into the franchise. The bigger problem here is, that the most obvious thing will never happen: Nintendo understands that their fans have grown up since they introduced Super Mario Bros nearly 30yrs ago and start creating some games for them. They should just split their franchises OR create new ones for their elder gamers. I don’t really mean Mario, but for instance a rough, serious Zelda game with complex, dramatic story elements, harder gameplay and something you would generally play for the experience would be just really cool. Something for players above the age of 16. I don’t mean a slashing bloodfest, as this would really be unrealistic, but delivering a bit more mature themes. Especially Zelda is quite a franchise that could need some better story-elements and especially the whole Indiescene today shows, how games for more grown up people could look like. I don’t wanna get too specific here and in general I respect Nintendo’s choice to concentrate on gameplay and accessibility only, but after decades of resucing princesses and beating fire & ice dungeons, they need to improve or let go of their recipes. At last a little other example: Pikmin 3. When I played that last year, I really thought this is one hell of one unique and creative game. And sure it is. But after it’s main structure hasn’t improved from it’s predecessors, I often thought, how much more you could do with this franchise. When you start playing that game, you already know what to expect and I think that’s one main mistake most Nintendogames do today. When I played P3 I was often a bit surprised, how nice they integrated some character-story elements into that game and I really wondered why they didn’t made use of this a bit more. This franchise could totally work like a star trek-explorationgame the only problem is, that the only really unexpected thing happened in the final stage while the rest was quite the common leveldesign & gameplay style we already knew. Aoyuma sometimes talks of the new WiiU Zelda as if they would really reinvent the whole franchise. Although I actually liked Skyward Sword, it also struggled with the OoT-problems and in the end, some major reinvention would be able to get more new gamers to play that game, than it would scare off longterm fans, if done well. RockieOllie Keep in mind that Rayman Legends was built with the intentions of being a Wii U exclusive. so of course Rayman is going to run better on the Wii U, because it was optimized for the system. Where as it was ported to the other platforms. This has nothing to do with how powerful the Wii U is, all it means is that that the game was optimized best for the platform. Bortly Yes and that the ps4 and xb1 versions are clearly inferior. RockieOllie At the risk of going into a hamster wheel with you: The reason why PS4/XB1 versions is inferior is because “the game was built and optimized with the intentions of being a Wii U exclusive.” So obviously the PS4/XB1 versions are not going to look as good as the Wii U since they were merely ported. Sdudyoy Now I just wish it was the king of all genres of video game. Daniel Gonzalez Can’t be king in everything. Even Nintendo knows that. They should expand but still continue to do what they do best. Sdudyoy Yeah, I know I mean I wish that we could have more games that aren’t plat formers. Daniel Gonzalez It would be nice. The same genre gets a little repetitive over time. Simon Stevens They could be, that’s what frustrates people about them, I’ve never known a company to go out of there way so often to fuck themselves, they have first party franchises the likes Sony and MS can never compete with, they just need a strong enough system for third party support or at least better communication with them, they cut every corner to save money and wind up losing it anyway, great company by name, but the way it’s run is shameful at times. Sdudyoy What I mean is I’m tired of plat formers, sorry I didn’t make that very clear. tronic307 Since we’re going for nostalgia, Nintendo should do some space shooters as well as platformers. The SNES was home to mainly those two genres, with platform-shooters like Contra III and Mega Man X doing particularly well. gamingpalooza wii u has great platformers… sonic lost world… super mario 3d world… the pacman game isn’t bad either… rayman is great… donkey kong… ect… Bob Wilkerson Duh! Having played quite a bit of this game I am not even sure how one would play it on another console with out a gamepad like controller. The murphy levels and murphy interaction in general using the gamepad is Awesome. Daniel Carvalho Of course it is, the game was made for the Wii U, bearing in mind its unique capabilities and limitations; of course it would be better on the platform it was designed for! Daniel Gonzalez Yep, it’s just pulling a Captain Obvious. 504HotBoy The Vita version is pretty good too. SmashFinale The Vita would be the only other console this game would work best on. wober2 WOOT! we wiiu owners will take any positive news! Too bad the game sold so poorly! Daniel Gonzalez Yeah, it’s not worth reporting about. Not to me anyway. Fboogey Everything you say with regard to the Wii U has a bit of a negative slant to it. I’ve never seen you say anything unequivocally positive about Nintendo or its games. I understand people have to have a balanced realistic perspective, but that balance means highlighting the positive too Daniel Gonzalez People are within their rights to be positive or negative. No one here is required to do both. That’s our choice alone. Far as I can tell, I didn’t disrespect what was said, just that “to me,” this isn’t worth reporting about considering it was quite obvious. As for you saying I don’t speak positive vibes, I’m gonna guess you aren’t around enough to see it, so that isn’t my problem. Thanks for your opinion, but it’s not going to change how I express myself. Guest From what I have seen you’re really just on this site to hate on Nintendo under the guise of being “fair”. And commenting negative as well as positive. Problem is I rarely if ever see the positive. I’ve never seen a comment from acknowledging the unbelievable quality of Nintendo’s first party catalogue. It seems that you are actually a Playstation fan. But yet you spend most of your time on a nintendo site. I find it highly probable that you are what they call a concern Troll Daniel Gonzalez Seeing as you’re taking up the task of trying to judge what a person may be, you are certainly too concerned over what one person thinks of Nintendo, but I digress. 504HotBoy He is a Sony fan. I seen him post before that he favor Sony more than any other brand. But he has to also be a fan of Nintendo as well, cause he comes to talk on a Nintendo site. Daniel Gonzalez Of course I’m a Nintendo fan. Considering I have a Wii U for a while now and have past Nintendo products. Lol. I don’t see the problem with being a fan of both Sony and Nintendo. Reason why people don’t see me talking negative towards Sony often is because this is a Nintendo site, not a Sony related one. If Sony goes through what Wii U has been through at this point, my view of them certainly will change. To be fair, people on here always assume based on people’s opinions. I find that to be a pity. 504HotBoy People who are on this site has to be some kind of Nintendo fan. You do have some trolls. But most people who come here like Nintendo games. Whether they speak negative or positive. Daniel Gonzalez Yep. I agree. Mine tend to be negative since I don’t see a lot of positives right now. Doesn’t mean it’ll remain that way forever. Personally speaking, I think people have bad judgment on who are trolls and who are disappointed fans. Certainly not easy to have a conversation without the accusations. That troll argument that people use so often, is certainly abused. Lol. Nice to finally have a discussion without all the childish retorts. Much appreciated. 504HotBoy Also there is nothing wrong with saying you’re a fan of something. I think a lot of people got complexes of being called a fan boy, they’re afraid to embrace their loyalty for their favorite brand. Like me I’m the biggest Nintendo & Sega fan. Why cause the 3rd & 4th Generation were my favorite eras of gaming. It’s when I feel in love with video games. So I have a special place in my heart for Nintendo & Sega. I like Sony & Micosoft as well, but more for Nintendo & Sega, cause that’s who hooked me on games. Wasn’t Atari considering my first 2 systems were Atari 2600 & a Coleco Vision. Regardless I love video games in general, so I buy and support all platforms. As I have always owned multiple consoles, no matter what generation we were in. Didn’t buy Xbox One this gen. Going with PS4 & Wii U this gen. May get one later. But like I said I’m more into the Japanese stuff. Daniel Gonzalez I find it funny that anyone calls someone a fanboy because they genuinely don’t care for certain games or even news. I think a lot of fans or “fanboys” if you wanna call them that are quite paranoid when they see a negative comment. On to a better topic, I’m with you on the 4th generation. Nintendo was really at their best in those days. Ever since the N64, they’ve slowly become a disappointment to me. While I still do enjoy some of their games like Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8, I’ve grown out of their franchises. Their known to stick with the same IP every generation, and I’d like to see them branch out more in that area and give me a reason to fully embrace them again. PS4 and Wii U will pretty be my gaming situation as well. It’s a matter of which one will get the most love. I love games in general, but it doesn’t mean we can’t express our likes and dislikes in a mature manner. 504HotBoy Hmmm…I don’t know. I like to see them introduce some new IPs (even some mature ones at that). But I’m always anticipating the next Legend Of Zelda (my favorite franchise). I was disappointed with the Wii U versions of Mario. I wish they would have made a Mario similar to Super Mario 64 or a brand new Mario with a new game design and play mechanics. I would love to see a Wii U version of Kid Icarus, Metroid, Starfox, F-Zero, Fire Emblem, etc. I never get tired of their games, cause whenever they do sequals or newer versions, it’s always so different from the last versions, it’s like a new game. With the exception of how they been milking Mario lately(too many of the same Marios). I hate when developers don’t reinvent with sequals, like Call Of Duty, Madden, Assassin’s Creed, Grand Theft Auto, etc. Too many of the same games. Certain games though I can play over and over even if it didn’t change so much in the sequal, but have different newer storylines/plots. Such as Resident Evil, Ninja Gaiden, Silent Hill, Devil May Cry,etc. greengecko007 You are NOT part of the fanboy problem. We all have our preferences. If you prefer Nintendo, Sega, and other Japanese products, I think everyone should at least respect your opinion. The people that ARE part of the problem are ones that engage in console wars, insult others’ opinions, and fail to participate in meaningful discussion. On this particular website, it’s the people with the “Get N or get out!” mentality. Please continue to not contribute to the problem. Daniel Gonzalez “On this particular website, it’s the people with the “Get N or get out!” mentality.” Very true. This is the real problem with the site. It’s hard to have a discussion without all the accusations. jrob23 nobody believes you own a Wii U…nobody Daniel Gonzalez I’m not looking for anyone to believe me. Cool story, though. Simon Stevens Nothing wrong with being both, you can’t blame him for speaking negatively either, there’s a lot of negativity going about these days, why should fans of Sony get really good news and Nintendo have to contend with good but mediocre at best news?, you can be a fan and expect better, with the example set by the others, why shouldn’t people expect better?, I’m a huge Nintendo fan and I can’t wait for DK this week and I love my Wii U but it’s still a piece a crap and Iwata should still be fired for not delivering on his promises and a more on par system to deliver us more games we will unfortunately now, miss out on, my opinionsucks but it ain’t changing. oontz “you can be a fan and expect better, with the example set by the others, why shouldn’t people expect better?” This is the problem with most Nintendo fanboys on this site. They fail to understand this. Just because I expect more from Nintendo doesn’t make me a troll or hater. That’s just silly. Simon Stevens It’s a shame really, kudos to them for being in love with there company of choice, but a blind romance rarely works out in the long haul, I have no time for people who would blindly bash someone for something as trivial as difference of opinion, you shouldn’t either 🙂 oontz I find it amusing and kinda feel bad for them, because there are so many amazing gaming experiences on other platforms that AREN’T Nintendo. I love Nintendo but also love gaming on other platforms, however for that I am labeled a troll and a hater on this site. Sad really. Daniel Gonzalez I feel ya. Daniel Gonzalez My thoughts exactly. Know plenty here like that. jrob23 that’s the thing…is he a fan of Nintendo? Daniel Gonzalez Are you a fan of Apple ipads? oontz So someone can only be a fan of one platform? How does that make any sense? Daniel Gonzalez Been wondering that myself. 504HotBoy Take a picture of the consoles you own and post it here with your user name. http://postimg.org/image/6peo7g6an/ 504HotBoy What are you talking about? In where did I say you have to be a fan of one platform. I said he a Sony fan, cause he is. He would even tell you that and I also said he has to be a fan of Nintendo, cause he’s posting on a Nintendo site. What consoles do you own? Take a picture and post it here with user name. oontz Sorry I mis-read what you had posted. My apologies. 504HotBoy http://postimg.org/image/6peo7g6an/ oontz are you asking me to post a picture of my home theatre? 504HotBoy No your consoles. I own multiple consoles, but I posted a pic of my PS4 & Wii U. Since they’re the newest consoles I have. oontz well my consoles are part of my home theatre so… let me see what I can do. Fboogey it seems to me that you are just here to throw cold water on Nintendo fans under the guise of being ‘fair’ and ‘objective’. Problem is everything is just slightly negative. Just enough that you can claim objectivity. I have never seen you say anything unequivocally positive about the incredible quality of Nintendo’s first party catalogue for instance. It seems that you are really just a sony fan who spends most of his time on a Nintendo Fan site. I find it highly probable that you are a ‘concern’ troll Daniel Gonzalez Yes, you said that the first time. I find it highly probable, that you’re too concerned over what one person thinks of Nintendo’s situation. Your concern troll claim is backfiring on you at this very moment. 504HotBoy I understand what you mean, because there are certain posters on here that are undercover haters. I was talking about that yesterday on here. You can tell who they are though. oontz What makes someone an undercover hater? Daniel Gonzalez I’m gonna guess someone who has a dislike for most news on this site. Such as myself. Obviously different opinions are a big no no here. ;P oontz Have of the articles on wiiudaily aren’t even really news. Daniel Gonzalez True. Most of them are click bait or just satisfying the crazy fans of the site. Real news comes around from time to time. oontz Click-bait indeed! 504HotBoy It doesn’t necessary just has to do with video games, it can be for any given situation. A person who wears a mask(not literally) as if they like, have interest, and are down with certain parties, but in reality they don’t share or have no love for those parties and it usually shows by their actions or the things they say. oontz I see, so you feel that there are posters on this site that hate nintendo but still spend their physical energy, typing and posting? Daniel Gonzalez I think some people worry too much about what people do with their time, but I digress. Rinslowe This is a fair approximation, IMO. Daniel Gonzalez That’s no surprise to anyone. Rinslowe Touchy lad. Daniel Gonzalez Not all all. Pointing out the obvious. By that logic, it would make you a concern troll too my friend. Looking at it like that, the whole comment section is guilty pretty much, IMO. Rinslowe I’m no friend of yours. But insult noted… lol. Daniel Gonzalez Touchy lad. I was using that term loosely. You’re the last person I’d consider a friend. Your insults are noted as well. Rinslowe Lol. nexxus6 I hope you aren’t surprised by Daniel once again trying to apply his negative spin to a Nintendo story. You will never see him acknowledge or appreciate any bit of good news on this site when it comes to the WiiU. Daniel Gonzalez Not surprised that you add on to the so called “negative spin” on a Nintendo story. Whether I bring a positive or negative opinion still contributes to the site. You contribute nothing by attacking posters because they don’t share your feelings on news. Sorry that my feelings rub you the wrong way, but going around attacking a poster is rather childish and hurts your argument at that. nexxus6 Going with the textbook, “if he doesn’t agree with my opinion or questions what I say then I am being attacked” rebuttal. Predictable. Daniel Gonzalez When someone is insulting you and goes out of their way to stalk your comments, then it is indeed an attack. I suppose you live under a rock to most occurances, but I digress. You’re entitled to your opinion of the situation, but it doesn’t make mine less plausible in comparison. Your rebuttal argument like the rest is certainly predictable. val berger why should he? there are enough soulless fanboys always yelling NOW’S THE TIME WHEN THE WIIU’S GONNA SKYROCKET on this page anyway, so go get some fresh air if you can’t live with some balance here. Just because Daniel is actually bringing reasons why he’s frustrated with this company instead of just bashing everything makes him not such an easy target for you, right? You can’t just call him a troll or something because he’s arguing with reason so it would take too much of your attention to actually discuss things out, right? Not sure which part of the term Comment-Section or Discussion-Board some people are misinterpreting. They aren’t called Hypesection and Bullshitboard, are they? Stop whining about every little critique here and be glad that some few people here haven’t given up on seeing things without this biased childish pink shades on their eyes. nexxus6 Hey pal, did I ever once call him a troll? However, their is a difference between critiquing and going out of your way to find a way to piss on anything positive that comes out regarding Nintendo. If people want to criticize Nintendo, so be it. However, when people are so proud and disillusioned that they do nothing but criticize every piece of news, that is being biased. I don’t profess that Nintendo is perfect, nor do I think the WiiU is the end all of gaming. If anyone needs some fresh air, it is you. Plus, I am not arguing with anyone. I am just stating a fact that some posters on here go out of their way to spin anything in a negative light. There is a difference of being balanced and being biased. Just because some posters choose to do nothing but find a way to criticize Nintendo about everything, does not make them anymore insightful or balanced than those that do nothing then heap over the top praise on everything they do. Plus, disagreeing with someone does not mean they are being attacked. If so, I can accuse you of calling me names and attacking me, but I am a bigger man than that. Daniel Gonzalez “However, their is a difference between critiquing and going out of your way to find a way to piss on anything positive that comes out regarding Nintendo.” You’re quite touchy. Though, you do know that opinions that people may not like, tend to piss people off, and to be honest, that’s not my problem. That’s you and your fellow posters issues to deal with. No one person has to be balanced to give an opinion of a situation. Perhaps that’s what you were taught, but that doesn’t imply to every individual. If things like that piss you off or anyone else, you only make it a problem by addressing it continuously through this comment section. If you are bigger than that as you claim, then walk away from the situation and keep your peace. Otherwise, you contradict your whole point. Rinslowe He’s obviously not implying every poster “needs” to be balanced as opposed to being predominantly “biased”. If I read that correctly, he like many others simply wonder “why” some posters choose to be more biased than balanced… Imagine we’re all in the same room together now, we all have guns in our hands – loaded – and can shoot anyone we want without fear of persecution, including ourselves. Because that is the defining factor of the situation we are all in. Does that then mean we have an obligation to shoot each other? ourselves? or fire at all? When in fact the decision to do so rest solely on ourselves. Not by any outside influence… To me it’s a good thing this is in fact a comment section where there is no underlying threat of gratuitous, wanton violence. Because I would feel sorry for anyone trapped in such a room with you… You fire your gun, because you can. And no other reason. Daniel Gonzalez I fire my gun by choice. From what I can see from you at this very moment, it’s plausible that you fire yours at me based on past issues. While that may not be the case, it’s certainly probable. You can think that I do what I do just for the hell of it, but that’s the beauty of life. Not all is as it seems, just to those who made up their minds. Just as I said in the past, you only add to the problem by confronting your problem. If in some shape or form that you think you’re a better person than I, then take the high road. Like it or not Rinslowe, I’m here to stay, and I’m not changing the way I express myself. Those who call people “idiots” only expose themselves to the same ignorance. If peace is what you may be looking for, then I’d say express that rather than your distaste. Truth be told, we’re all at guilt for our actions, so I’ll leave it at that. If you wanna keep criticizing me rather than owning up to your own flaws in the process, then you’ll be talking to yourself. Rinslowe “I’m here to stay, and I’m not changing the way I express myself. Those who call people “idiots” only expose themselves to the same ignorance.” No one has implied that you should be anywhere else but where you choose to be. And the word “idiot” exists not by my invention. But a word no less defined through meaning, by individuals like yourself… Any peace with someone like you, is destined to be short lived. Daniel Gonzalez With your outlook and closed mind to the possibility, you’re probably right. Rinslowe Well, I “can” speak from seeing your good work in action on a consistent basis. I would never claim that to be universally factual. But it is accurate from where I’m standing, yes. Daniel Gonzalez Yep, that’s the internet for you. We only define people based on what we read from them. Indeed, nothing is factual that we may say here. I can agree to that. Rinslowe You are who you “choose” to be. Online or otherwise… Daniel Gonzalez You have different beliefs than I. I am who I am. We’re all born with a unique personality. I can certainly change some things about myself, but I see no reason to as I’m happy as I am. If people dislike who I am, well, can’t get along with every person in the world. This is one of those situations. Rinslowe The problem is not in likes or dislikes, common ground or even misunderstandings. It’s in the fact you choose to be a class act in hypocrisy while doggedly chasing down anyone who disagrees with your viewpoints through personal digs and attacks of “character”. You don’t need to change to exercise a little restraint in these area’s. And when you exercise your right to an opinion in such a way, as you do, who can blame the backlash of negativity towards you. This is just my own opinion, but I think it’s a little late to start blaming everyone else on how they may misunderstand your comments or intentions when you yourself created the anti by trying to be something you’re not… Trying to justify yourself behind the pretense of anonymity just strengthens that truth – as we may be online, but we all have a choice not to be assholes, trolls and hypocrites. In that regard, you’re undefeated. val berger let him be negative. As long as he isn’t just bashing around, I think it’s very welcome to have more reflexing and criticising users here on board. Sure, I’d love to see daniel smile once in a while too, but this way, it’s a great relief after 90% of this community seem to be made up of kinda childish Nintendofans who would rather rip their eyes out than reading some neutral words about their beloved company. Daniel Gonzalez I think one thing that amuses me is….if they love their games and Nintendo so much, why does it matter to them if people don’t share their feelings? Most tend to think it’s gonna upset or shut the said person up when it just(in my experiences) amuses them. You’re right, 90% of this community is filled with childish people. It’s rare to have a decent discussion without all the accusations. val berger What I always keep telling them is, that if they would really care about their Nintendo, they wouldn’t try to shut up people who question their actions. If they wanna see Nintendo go down, then all fans should continue living in their Mushroomkingdom-dreamworld, living with all mistakes this company is doing. I personally grew up with Nintendo and we went through harsh times and they wouldn’t be where they are now (or where they were with the Wii to be specific) if they wouldn’t have been able to be a bit reflective about what they did wrong until then. Trying to silence doubters is the first sign of a totalitarian regime which is, in this case, run by under18yr old kids, not able to listen to some people with experience. And since Nintendo launched the WiiU, it seems they really relied on those kids opinion. Look where we those little prats took us. At least other companies are doing mistakes too, when I look at Sony and their Killzone and now this 18something middleagezombieslashergame, they seem to want the whole industry of blockbustergames to go down by delivering stuff that looks good but plays like 2005. I guess there’s quite a bright future for huge Indie-productions. Y’know, those which doesn’t look like shit, are from actual Gamedesigners like Tim Schafer and are still free from the chains of unimaginative publishers because that’s a growing danger nowadays. production costs explode, financial risks are rising and new ideas are laid in the hands of those little ones to be swallowed by EA afterwards 😉 Daniel Gonzalez Indie games are certainly good for the industry. They’re able to take the risks that big budget studios won’t. Since most indie games have a small budget(5k and high as 100k), they have less to lose. If they succeed, then they tend to make a lot of money compared to their budget. I think the big budget companies should look at what these little guys are doing and take a few chances once in a while. val berger not sure if they should do that. I mean the big ones. Indies shall stay where they are, as every interference from huge commercial ones often just leads to the EAfication and complete destruction of creative little developers. Actually Indie’s budget doesn’t necessarily have to be between 5k and 100k. Double Fine pledged about 3Mio over Kickstarter. Sure, they aren’t the typical Indie dev, but it shows, where Indies might be in 5-10yrs. And that’s what I’m talking about and why I do believe, that concepts like the Steambox could really add something interesting to the livingroom. Indies won’t always stay where they are now, AAA-blockbustertitles also got their roots in 8bit pixelgraphics 🙂 Daniel Gonzalez Well i meant that big budget developers should take some chances that indies take. Not exactly cash in on their ideas cause that just hurts innovation. Yeah, I was more or less saying what the budget is for most indie games on average. There are some that do get 3 million or more. I do see a good future for indies and even lately I’ve been playing those types of games more often. Steambox does sound like a good way to get people exposed to those great little guys and hopefully we’ll see more consoles revolving around indie games. It would be interesting to see three indie consoles on the market competing just like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. val berger Ok, well, I see huge studios getting more and more unable to take on these risks. Especially when I look over at the PS4, most AAA games there are really, really uncreative in terms of their gameplay. It’s something natural about 1st gen of games for a new console, but it also really points out, how ridiculously expensive those AAA games have become and how they can only rely on walking save paths these days. Although we keep on criticising Nintendo here, they still are one of the examples of huge companies taking risks, at least in relation to their scale. The whole WiiU disaster shows how such a risk can turn out in a bad way, but actually they have become like an Indie-developer compared to Sony & Microsoft. The reason for our complaints might be, that Nintendo just doesn’t manage to really take a clear position and that’s the big struggle they are fighting with since the WiiU has launched. oontz Sorry I remember 2005 and Killzone is a lot better than FPS games from 9 years ago. Also seeing it has moved over 2 million units how exactly was it a mistake for sony? What slasher game are you referencing? Outlast? Rinslowe By the way, I’ve been a Killzone fan since the first one. Shadow fall as far as consoles go… Is eye candy IMO… Thought to just randomly put that out there. Not related to your conversation… oontz I agree it’s eye candy but I also really enjoyed the gameplay and campaign compared to previous killzones. It is all a matter of opinion. I also enjoyed the multiplayer as well. But yeah serious eye candy for sure. Rinslowe I certainly enjoyed it more than 2, not more than 1 and about the same as 3, but visually more than 2 and 3 combined. History and fond memory puts Killzone the original title at the top for the time… Although, I know that the world is divided on 2 vs 3. But that’s how I see it… I haven’t had the chance to really get through it though. Have been holding off until getting my own version…. oontz Well when you do get through it I’d be interested to hear what you thought. I thought the story was great, level design was spot on. Also when you get your PS4 add me and we can play online. Rinslowe Done deal… val berger No I am talking about The Order: 1886 here and yes, it’s not a slashergame, but one of those Horror-Action-Shooter-whatevergames. And no, I don’t think the new Killzone has really improved anything but visuals, which is actually not such a bad thing in terms of a PS4 launchgame but 1886 also just comes with enhanced visuals but gameplay that makes you feel you’ve went through that over and over before. Sure, I can’t say that for sure, but what they showed didn’t really leave any room for some other opinion than this. Atmosphere, Story and Visuals are some nice features of a game as well, but it seems that Blockbustercompanies are totally relying on that, ignoring the need for real gameplay improvements. By the way, as Half Life 2 came out in 2004, you’re right, not 9 but 10 years. oontz ” And no, I don’t think the new Killzone has really improved anything but visuals” Did you play and complete the game? “1886 also just comes with enhanced visuals but gameplay” HA ha, the general public has literally seen like 2 minutes of gameplay. Talk about judging a book by it’s cover. “By the way, as Half Life 2 came out in 2004, you’re right, not 9 but 10 years.” You had me at Half Life 2 😉 val berger I guess we share just too different opinions here, which isn’t a bad thing after all. I personally don’t need to completely play through a game to at least say that it hasn’t the fundamental creative design, a new game on a new generation should have (to make me lucky 😉 ) when HL2 came out, a glimpse of gameplay would’ve been enough to say, this is something huge. Today there are barely any games, achieving this effect, so I don’t blame Sony but the whole industry. As I discussed here before, talking risks in terms of new game concepts have become major financial risks that could easily break a middlesized companies neck, so they often rely on their more predictable ability to create atmosphere, depth, story and this whole audiovisual thing. And the more expensive a game becomes, the less they are into really trying to deliver some different experience. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like Nintendo is too different here, although their policy may be more what I’m looking for, but it’s a problem with large studios in general. oontz “Today there are barely any games, achieving this effect” See I think there are always going to be those paint by numbers generic games. But I also think there have been some serious stand out games in many different genres, over the past few generations. Games that while are still rooted in a specific genre, push the boundaries of that genre either in gameplay or story telling. There are always those diamonds in the rough. val berger yeah, true that. But I think those diamonds are getting harder and harder to find. Plus our demands are kinda changing and adapting to what’s delivered by the industry. I have a PS3 and as we all know, there are quite a lot third person action adventures out there which aren’t always too much differing from each other. so every game that actually does, shines out like one of those diamonds. Sure, this situation wasn’t completely different back in the SNES times, but it has increased ever since. Today, every really creative game like Journey is automatically called an indie game, not necessarily because it’s indie, but because it’s original. But as I said before, the PS4 is kinda young, so risky developments can’t really be made at this point. When the PS4 reached something above 20Mio sold units, developers will start getting a bit more comfortable, so I don’t really wanna blame that system for not delivering stuff that’s interesting to me yet. Especially considering that it already has a far better lineup now than the PS3 had back in its launchdays in terms of qualitygames. Still, I’d love to see something surprising and brilliant once again. Not even Destiny managed to really excite me, maybe because I don’t like it, when a developer builds up more hype than its community. Or Elder Scrolls Online also just doesn’t really touch me. But OK, maybe that’s especially a problem who’s into this viderogamestuff for about 25 years and has just seen too much, just like someone who watched movies his whole life and can’t really create some empathy for new ones. oontz “Today, every really creative game like Journey is automatically called an indie game, not necessarily because it’s indie, but because it’s original.” To be fair Journey IS an Indie game, albeit a great one, and it was indeed original. Looking forward to what that studio brings us next. Funny you mention Destiny cause that is one game I’m really looking forward to. Mostly because I love Halo and the thought of taking that style and making it as huge as Destiny is… it’s going to be epic. The community for Destiny is already massive, Bungie is a top tier developer so I am confident they’ll succeed with their vision. Also worth noting… I have no interest in elder scrolls online. I’ve also been into games for over 25 years now, however I am still surprised and awestruck by many of the gaming experiences I have. It’s an artistic medium I truly love. Rinslowe “You’re right, 90% of this community is filled with childish people. It’s rare to have a decent discussion without all the accusations.” Include yourself in that so called “90%” as well Gonzalez. From where I’m sitting there are very few individuals here commenting on a regular basis ready and willing as you are to judge and attack an individual on their views and opinions. And you do that consistently. You’re the definition of a hypocrite, first class. Daniel Gonzalez Touchy lad. I can always count on you to prove my point. Well played. <3 Rinslowe You pine over the comment “Touchy Lad” like I genuinely insulted you with it. You don’t have any valid claims here today Gonzalez. Keep attempting to throw my comment back each time, only proves two things; Not only are you an opinionated idiot. But you hold a grudge like a dominatrix scorned. Lol. Daniel Gonzalez Awwh….stop that. You’re gonna make me blush and giggle. <3 Rinslowe Feel free… Especially the giggle part… lol. Daniel Gonzalez I shall. Thank you. *pats you on the back* There, there. Take a breather Rinslowe. Everyone has their bad days. I’m here for you pal. Rinslowe Lol Gonzalez. Do you even believe that nonsense you speak on a daily basis? Hahaha. Yes indeed. Pat yourself on the back while giggling. Fits my image of you perfectly. Thanks for the humour. 🙂 Daniel Gonzalez “Lol Gonzalez. Do you even believe that nonsense you speak on a daily basis?” Hmmm…was thinking that same thing about you. Certainly fits my image of you. You do entertain me at the very least, which I can certainly thank you for. <3 Rinslowe The parrot speaks… 🙂 Daniel Gonzalez He certainly does. Rinslowe, quit that squawking. <3 Rinslowe You do realise that me calling you out parroting, while you replying with the same sentiment, just further adds validity to my comment, lol Or did that not occur to you at the time of writing?? Haha. Daniel Gonzalez Ouch, must have really struck a nerve in you. Xnax will help calm you down pal. I’m here if you need a good pep talk. <3 Rinslowe I think that genuinely stumped you didn’t it. Lol. Yes, the smartest guy in the room you are not… 🙂 Yeah, whatever “U” say Daniel. What ever you say… Daniel Gonzalez For a guy who calls someone an “opinionated idiot,” you sure continue to respond to one while saying things that sound rather “opinionated.” Certainly not the smartest guy in the world. I’d like to call you an idiot, but I think your posts speak for themselves quite well. So again, thank you for proving your intelligence level. Much appreciated. ^_^ Also, don’t forget to pick up milk and eggs this morning. We’re fresh out deary. <3 Rinslowe Is that yet another spiel of nonsense? Certainly does look like it. Lol, such an easy lad to unsettle… I’m off to get some PC Skyrim modding, in the mix. Take care now. 🙂 InterTreble Standing ovation. I cannot find a comment from him without offending whoever doesn’t agree with him. Arthur Jarret I’ve never met a male gamer that acted his age… and female gamers that act their age are pretty rare too. I don’t see any good reason to act my age anyway, so that’s good – I guess. Rinslowe That wasn’t my point. Your comment is best served sent to the guy “I” replied to. My reply was very singular, personal. I honestly don’t mind what age people are acting. So long as it doesn’t involve consistently being an ashle to others, for the “fun” of it. That quotation above, that wasn’t me talking… Arthur Jarret I know, it was just a general comment with cheeful intent not specifically aimed at any singlar person but still matchin the conversation you were having with mr. Speedy Rinslowe Is he speedy because you believe he has wit or? Arthur Jarret Nope, it’s a very, very, very lame pun on his last name. Rinslowe Oh yes, I do remember now. There’s history on that topic… Well. Not so lame then, actually. 🙂 Daniel Gonzalez Indeed there is. I do recall you putting up some gif of Speedy Gonzales and then deleting it to cover your tracks. I know you’ll flat out deny it because why would you wanna risk being a probable racist, or at the very least, as ignorant as the people you critique. Nah, Arthur is right, it was a lame pun on ones last name. 😉 Rinslowe Lol Daniel, what was that you were lying? Out of curiosity, if someone called you Speedy Gonzalez. How exactly is that a racist comment? More so than basic word association? I would be inclined to apply reason to the latter… Arthur Jarret How dare you accuse this community of making accusations! Daniel Gonzalez IKR? Shame on me.(sarcasm) Arthur Jarret Ah, sarcasm. A lost art. Just remember: It’s all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits. Daniel Gonzalez Sounds all the same to me. jrob23 At least own the platform the site is based on right? I mean, opinion differ but when they are based on watching videos instead of actually playing games or they sound like they come from an EA developer, perhaps you are on the wrong site. Everyone is welcome to be here and discuss Nintendo but if you aren’t really a fan why bother? Daniel Gonzalez “Everyone is welcome to be here and discuss Nintendo but if you aren’t really a fan why bother?” Yep, indeed anyone is welcomed here to discuss Nintendo. As for being a fan, well I can go all day and explain that to you, but that’s like training a fish to climb a tree. tronic307 When *DIGITAL FOUNDRY* finds the Wii U version of a multi-platform game to be clearly technically superior, trust me, it’s newsworthy. thedeciderU just out of sheer curiosity i checked the sales to date. i bet the wiiu exclusive would have sold that number or better if it had not been delayed, then further beat down by competing with GTA V and other fall/holiday releases. damn shame. i was pissed when it was delayed, but still got it, and it’s damn good. The Clockwork Being Well the game was truly made of the Wii U. Clel is right! I meant for the Wii U :P. Clel I think you mean for the Wii U :O TaintedXGamer Wii u exclusive at first till Ubisoft demanded they make it multi-plat. Yep, still the definitive best version of rayman legends. 😉 Daniel Gonzalez In a matter of speaking it was. While many were upset when the game got pushed back to release in September, I supported their decision. Wii U isn’t a big seller right now, so it made sense. It did piss off Nintendo fans a lot, but that’s the risk you take. Gameonfool They should not have promised the release on a new console if not going to go through with it, releasing on a new platform’s risky anyway, they still could have released it on other platforms later. blindtiger timed exclusive and everyone wouldve been happy Daniel Gonzalez That would have been the better alternative, but Microsoft’s policy made it impossible. tronic307 Microsoft can kick rocks already. blindtiger whats MSs policy? Daniel Gonzalez I agree. It was a screw up. I don’t blame them as we’re all entitled to make mistakes and they shouldn’t be damned because of it. Seeing as it was too late to scrap it and start over, delaying the game was the only option. tronic307 Not that it ruined my day or anything, but it was was an egregious move that likely hurt the future of the console. Clel Umm okay Daniel Gonzalez Was meant for Clockwork. My bad man. 🙂 Clel Oh ok lol, I was kind of confused 😛 The Clockwork Being Thanks for correcting me Clel 🙂 Magnus Eriksson Yeah, sadly Nintendo fans often doesnt realize what a great supporter Ubi have been of the Wii U. Some fans was straight out hateful towards Ubi after they decided to go multiplat, a sad but understandable decision. Also Nintendo seems to have neglected them a bit too much, and might very well lose them in the future. Daniel Gonzalez Basically anyone that doesn’t support Nintendo, must be evil and wants them to fail. Gotta love the logic in it. nexxus6 Generalize much? Daniel Gonzalez Not at all. My comment pertains to those crazy fans who attack anyone questioning anything Nintendo that they may dislike. Not sure if you’re being a bit touchy or not, but if so, chillax. Rinslowe “Not at all. My comment pertains to those crazy fans who attack anyone questioning anything Nintendo” Where are these “crazy fans” you speak of? If anything this is yet another figment of your imagination. Something you cooked up to suit an agenda. Whatever that may be… Otherwise – if that comment can be substantiated, care to name names? tronic307 That’s not it at all. They have a teen bully mentality, anyone who calls things ‘kiddy’ does. What’s not to hate about that? Anyone who has a snarky ‘meh’ attitude about ANYTHING needs to get punched. They’re like hecklers at a movie theater. Rinslowe “Anyone who has a snarky ‘meh’ attitude about ANYTHING needs to get punched.” Awesome line… 🙂 blindtiger i was more upset they pushed it back in the middle of the drought of 2013 to go multiplat than the actual decision to release it on other consoles, and then it didnt even do that well on those. i wouldve bought it in march but in sept it kinda got lost in the mix. now a year later wii u has to wait again for watch dogs while other consoles get it “on time.” i dont hate ubisoft but their “support” is only good relative to other third parties. and what did nintendo do to neglect them? Magnus Eriksson The thing is that Nintendo seems to think that it doesnt matter that the only supporter they got is pushing titles back. As Nintendo situation is right now they cant afford stuff like that, and need to do something drastical to strenghten the relationship more. Its bad news that WD will be released at a later point on Wii U for example. That will make the drought even more evident than before. Also it will cauese many both system owners to pick PS4 or XBOne version instead of the Wii U, and there all Ubi support is lost. A company who had released 11 games on the Wii U… Nah, they have to spit in some money here. Otherwise they lose their strongest supporter. blindtiger nintendo has always had the superiority complex where they do what they want and third parties can take it or leave it. it started with the n64 sticking to cartridges. it is very unfortunate and it does hurt relations but i cant say that i condone sony and microsofts practice of straight paying for games either. perhaps my best solution would be for nintendo to have a team to help third parties to maximise their port and program for the gamepad/wiimote. third parties also seem to have a bit of a problem with self-fulfilling prophecy. releasing games late or with missing features/modes/dlc and then complaining about sales isnt exactly fair when wii u owners are either “hardcore” and own another system which gets all features on time or “casual” and only buys the “safe” classic nintendo games. i understood missing stuff for wii… it was grossly underpowered and had no comparable control option. but wii u ports should beat anything on ps3 or xbox360 and come “close enough” to current gen. i really dont know what the answer is but the current cycle needs to be broken and im not sure that throwing money at it would work or make sense. Magnus Eriksson The thing is that support should be a two sided relation. This is my opinion. In the past N. could make a console, put it on the market and say: -Here, develope for this. That time is gone. Nintendo loses support, and should start to realize that the fault is theirs not others. If not – then they will become irrelevant. You cannot be the smallest guy in class and force everyone to adapt for you. They had this power in NES era, but lost more and more of it through generations. GCN showed that clearly, but with Wii Nintendo got lucky as they hit off with a big market the others didnt anticipate. However they are gone now, and wont come back. With the Wii U they faced the brutal reality, but kept on being on a path that hasnt been successful before. If they want to have any chance they must be willing to put some effort into it. Either by paying for games, or expand to such a degree that they can do the job themselves. The strategy they have used since NES is failing, and wont ever work again. Rinslowe Nintendo failed to accept some overwhelming industry norms “in the making” with both N64 and GCN. Both consoles I enjoyed immensely. However, building a console and creating novel and ground breaking input methods is a different thing than ignoring something as obvious as Compact Disc as a medium. Had they chosen to go with what benefited the studios “bottom line” in the production process, those studios would still be behind Nintendo today – most likely. oontz Well said! My thoughts exactly, the wiiu situation didn’t just happen over night. Swampert Master Thank you for saying this! I thought I was the only one who thought ubisoft was a great supporter for the Wii U and it was their game to begin with in the first place. It was licensed by Nintendo, not published. Rinslowe The Rayman situation was indeed understandable. And it’s the fans and the studio (for their hard work) that I felt for there. Even the guys who made the game were not impressed with the delay. It was a shitty move by Ubi’s execs. Having said that, it’s not worth damning an entire company on, on account of one title. If there really was this sort of thing going on then, boo… Daniel Gonzalez You forgot “IMO.” Rinslowe Did I? Daniel Gonzalez Indeed. Rinslowe Indeed what? Daniel Gonzalez Quite sure you’re not abstracted. Rinslowe Quite sure it’s an opinion by definition. Daniel Gonzalez Anything said is exactly that. Except for pointing out you forgot “IMO.” That is a proven fact. Rinslowe Regarding the original comment, I remember only my own stance on the matter. Not anyone else’s. Not supporting Ubisoft by refusing to buy that particular title is not the same as not supporting any title by ubisoft due to “that” situation. I totally understand if people chose not to support the title “Rayman Legends” based on Ubi’s bad decision making. But to condemn every title from them for that… nonsense. Now to address the term “IMO”. I can agree that the only proven fact here, is in the “fact” you did indeed write “You forgot “IMO.” Outside of that however you have yet again, proven no point. Or are you implying that your “sole” opinion is now factual? No-one but “you” mentioned the term “IMO”…. 🙂 Daniel Gonzalez Don’t forget, IMO. You wouldn’t be you without it. <3 Rinslowe That’s more like it Gonzalez. Now I can agree. This is simply “your” approximation of my character and what that character is most likely to say or do, according to that approximation. Indeed, this is what you believe. And I’m “more” than fine with that. 🙂 Just, don’t cling to the illusion that your approximation holds any real concrete tangibility to it – outside of your personal opinion or belief. Magnus Eriksson Of course they wasnt, and it might have been the wrong decision as it ended up selling not too well on the others. But my point is that Ubi shouldnt be blamed because of this. They saw quite early that they were the only ones besides N. to hold up the console. And thats a hard responsibility for a third party dev. N. should have done something to keep Rayman at date. I think the situation could have been much more different then. Daniel Gonzalez That’s basically Nintendo’s problem. They don’t go out of their way enough to secure exclusives. There’s more than one side of the story indeed. Rinslowe I think it was short sighted on Ubi’s behalf. And absolutely their execs should be blamed for poor insight. If they had released the title on Wii U in time, they may have been able to build a healthy amount of hype for the other platforms… Should people condemn a company on the bad decisions of a few people and on one title though? No way. Especially when what they do right far outweighs what they’ve done wrong. Simon Stevens Que the fanboys! brian0057 Upvote for the One Piece reference. Daniel Gonzalez Lol. So true. nexxus6 The term “fanboy” is becoming as over used and misused as the term “hard core gamer”. Just because some are happy to see the WiiU get a shred of positive news does not make them “fanboys”. Remember, this is a Nintendo-based website, so people here may occasionally like to sing praises about the WiiU from time to time. Those who always attack and post negative comments about Nintendo and call everyone else “fanboys” are really no different than those they attempt to ridicule, kind of like an “anti-fanboy”. Simon Stevens I wasn’t pointing this towards Nintendo fans, opposite actually, most N fans are quite humble and get a lot of my respect, Sony and MS fans however, seeing news that the Wii U has any superior experience to there consoles are a bullet to the chest, though I agree with you, fanboys still exist, they don’t go away, personally, I couldn’t give a snuff, so long as the games are good, but on a first party level Nintendo are my favourites, on a 3rd party level (jrpgs) Sony are my favourites, without MS, I wouldn’t have Windows and without Windows, I wouldn’t have Steam and GOG, so on that level, there my favourites, everybody has a reason to like what they like, so long as they ain’t childish jerks about it, then there’s no problem, sorry if I offended you, it was a joke, I thought the funny Luffy gif would have put that point across. Diaz Well that is what happens when developers actually take advantage of the system and do good job on the game instead of releasing some shitty ass port. oontz Which is why the wiiu version is the best, because all the other platforms got a shitty ass port. Daniel Gonzalez It should have just released on the Wii U considering it was designed for it. If they wanted to make it mulitplatform, they should have done that from the start, or worked on the ports at a later time so they can design the game for those respective consoles. Even that said, I understand why they delayed it, and broke the exclusive, and still support it from a business standpoint. oontz I agree, from a wiiu user’s point of view it was a slap in the face but from a business point of view it was the smart decision. Petri Considering how well it went, not really. They might have sold enough to justify exclusivity if they would have released it on time. But like with most things, we can only speculate. Though would be nice to know if they covered their expenses with those ports. TrueGamer True that. I say they should have release it early on tho. Rinslowe “Which is why the wiiu version is the best, because all the other platforms got a shitty ass port.” That comment is a door that swings both ways… So many Ninty supporters have been persecuted to no end, on “this” site for saying the exact same thing. Daniel Gonzalez Probably because a lot of them complain so often about one bit of bad news that it’s obvious. Though, when we share our dislike, it’s another story. Swings both ways indeed. Rinslowe You do most of the complaining around here, lol What are talking about? Daniel Gonzalez Very mature. As usual, you miss the point of the question by directly attacking your fellow posters. Nice job. You prove my point. Rinslowe No need to be upset by my opinion of you Gonzalez. You are no fellow poster “IMO”. Daniel Gonzalez No one is upset here, but nice that you like to think so. I’m pointing out your immature comment. Only one here who is upset is you Rinslowe by trying to use that reasoning to justify your response. Rinslowe Incorrect statement. Call these responses whatever you need to. But I feel no overriding need to justify anything… Daniel Gonzalez You already did by replying. Statement indeed correct. Rinslowe Wrong again. If you’re implying I reply to you out of being upset is again, incorrect. I do so to clarify your lack of understanding in the matter. That is simply a choice. Not at all a “need” or “justification”. Daniel Gonzalez You do so by showing your anger in subtle responses. I know. As for lack of understanding, I’d say you underestimate ones understanding quite often. Sounds to me your dislike towards me is a dislike you hate within yourself. Otherwise, you really wouldn’t continue on in a discussion if you felt you were correct. Please do go on if it makes you feel better to deny certain things about yourself. Rinslowe Wrong again. Not anger. “Choice”. And no, I don’t underestimate you. You are incorrect about the rest as well. But thank you for the Dr Phil impression… Will I receive yet another upset, overly analytic response from you today? I just spoke my mind. You in turn turned it into yet another cabbage patch of nonsense. lol. Keep it up. Daniel Gonzalez Touchy response. Anger and choice are quite the companions in your reasoning. You continue to prove my point. Rinslowe You have proven no points today. Sorry for not entertaining your misconceptions. Daniel Gonzalez “Sounds to me your dislike towards me is a dislike you hate within yourself. Otherwise, you really wouldn’t continue on in a discussion if you felt you were correct” What was said earlier, stands. If you felt you were right, you wouldn’t need to respond. It tells me you’re quite the insecure fellow. No worries, you entertained me quite a lot tonight. With that said, can’t be here to pick apart your misconceptions all night, so this is where I leave you. Nighty night. Rinslowe You are consistently wrong in every post, as to the “why” I “choose” to reply. Your slight of hand and attempted negative character analysis isn’t working for you Daniel. Hardly surprising, lol Quoting yourself?? What next from your little bag of cats? A Gif or Jpeg? 🙂 nexxus6 Daniel’s technique is an old one. When you corner him on his posts, he will say you are attacking him or are immature, disrespectful, etc. He does this to change the focus of the argument and to put you on the defensive. So instead of sticking to the topic at hand, he tries to lure you into defending yourself and warding off his accusations. Rinslowe Yes, I agree. It’s one of the reasons why I reply to him in such a way. One day he’ll eventually drop his delusions and realise no-ones fooled by his attempts at moving the goal posts. Very astute observation on your behalf. Nicely put. oontz I completely agree that wiiu mostly gets shitty ports and sadly that is a trend that doesn’t look like it will ever end. Rinslowe Never say never. But I wouldn’t be able to put that into any kind of general context that works outside of a few select titles… Daniel Gonzalez I don’t see anything special about this news. PS4 and XB1 owners aren’t interested in these kind of games. Platformers sell better on Nintendo consoles. So it’s obvious that the Wii U will sell more copies. Lol. nexxus6 The above review wasn’t talking about sales, the review said it was the definitive version to play. Daniel Gonzalez Doesn’t change what I said. Monomon Even it’s the best to play on Wii U, they should make an experiment: create another Rayman exclusively on that platform. If it sells like hotcakes, make more exclusives! Of not… Well, other platforms can have “that” exclusive too(including Wii U) TaintedXGamer I want the 3D Rayman now on wii u. There was excuses because of the Wii ‘s limitations even if they pushed, but the wii U can definitely handle a HD Rayman 3D platfomer and we have motion plus/wiimote+, pro controller and of course the gamepad. Call it Rayman 4. Come on acele, you know you want too! Mithiragi Wake me up, when this Wii U drought ends… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVO8sUrs-Pw http://ak0.picdn.net/shutterstock/videos/2565536/preview/stock-footage-portrait-of-depressed-businessman-in-the-park-close-up.jpg Logan Wayman Ubisoft, take down the X360, XONE, PS4 and PS3 versions, please!!! GregoryTheRainMaker lol Daniel Gonzalez Request denied. oontz Said no Ubisoft board member ever. blindtiger dont care about the taking others down but i thought it sold best on wii u despite install base arguments greengecko007 Unfortunately, we don’t really know. That statement is from September of last year. Although it’s often regarded as sometimes being unreliable, VGChartz actually has the PS3 version as selling slightly more than the Wii U version, with the game selling very close to the same amount on all platforms. tronic307 The Vita version sold like 50k, and it’s a shame because I heard it was pretty good. greengecko007 Well, yeah, barring the Vita of course. I was mostly referring to home console platforms. I’ve also heard it was pretty good, but I haven’t actually played it myself. tronic307 Hey, they NEED those. oontz Cue crazy Nintendo fanboys… In 1… 2……. 504HotBoy Wii U version is great. Vita version is pretty good too. David Trail GTA 5 and Dark Souls would also be the definitive versions on Wii U!!!! Brandon Not really. The wii u doesnt have the amount of power to enhance the game more then the last gen did. Plus theres not a big enough fanbase on the wii u. Rinslowe This comment is inaccurate. Wii U certainly has more grunt than last gen. So GTA V looking better and respectable is a possibility only defined by how much effort could be placed on the port itself. The main thing being overlooked here though is that it’s not just about “power” that Wii U could potentially do better. It is in the options for better gameplay experiences that the gampad makes possible (Zombi U/ Deus Ex for eg.). But I do agree in that Wii U’s install base is currently not at a point where a port, would be either feasible or likely. oontz China town wars 2!!! Rinslowe ?. oontz You never played GTA China Town Wars on NDS? Great game with innovative use of the touch screen. Be great for a sequel on Wiiu. Much better chance of that happening then a port of GTAV. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VNm6599CeM4&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVNm6599CeM4 Rinslowe Ok, just got the reference… Brandon Agree the wii u is stronger then last gen, but not by much. The most it would play is 720p for both games at a max of 30fps maybe a bit higher, but i would like to see this on ps4. As for the gamepad i dont see it doing much. Just being a map or item menu. Rinslowe Actually there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of what sorts of features which could be used “within” that resolution ceiling. Lighting, overall texture detail and quality could be potentially improved. Alpha affects, DOF etc… And framerate you cannot say with any accuracy. Although likely 30fps as you say. PS4 is a more powerful machine again, for sure. But what in terms of input potential does it have that leverages the massive potential of Wii U’s gamepad? Vita has possibilities, but arguably latency is an ongoing technical obstacle for Sony. And according to the technology employed in the communication between devices that will not significantly improve to provide any advantages against the gamepads dedicated components. But having said that, an open world title may not require such quick response times. So, ultimately I’d be open to a PS4 version. Still, I’m certain that future Grand Theft Auto titles will make it to most platforms from here on out. Brandon Well i agree with your statement about the extra effects and better texture. I would like to see how it would utilize the gamepad. As for the vita, screw that. I would prefer the gamepad by far. Because of playstation grand theft auto has been a time exclusive for consoles, but nintendo has not been in rockstars rader for a while, so that being said its clear their target audience is just not on nintendo and i dont think we will be seeing a verison for that console. oontz “But what in terms of input potential does it have that leverages the massive potential of Wii U’s gamepad?” A potential that has really yet to be realized on Wiiu except in a few titles. “Vita has possibilities, but arguably latency is an ongoing technical obstacle for Sony.” I have zero issues with latency when using my vita on my PS4, either as a controller or with remote play. “Still, I’m certain that future Grand Theft Auto titles will make it to most platforms from here on out.” GTA VI will be only released on PS4/XB1 and possibly PC. Rinslowe I’m sorry but did I say anything incorrect there? Lol A few titles do indeed “confirm” the existence of “said” potential. Not the lack off. What you are talking about is something completely different. Lets be totally honest here. Yes most titles do not achieve a dramatic improvement on play mechanics. But that is not the discussion. In the games where it has, it changes the experience completely in it’s favour. And confirms the point I was making. A close friend of mine bought a PS4 the moment it hit the country together with Vita. I’ve been getting my fair share of game time. And I don’t have any problems with certain titles… But lets not pretend it isn’t an issue for other genres like; FPS’ that requires better response times. This is a technical fact. Not an opinion on is the PS4 and Vita good or not… Personally I like it. I’m picking one up myself this weekend. Now that we are going into “this” generation in full swing and the time until the next GTA title hits. Those consoles outlined in your reply “are” most platforms. Last gen consoles may miss out. But that’s totally understandable due to support discontinuation. Wii U missing wouldn’t be a surprise either. Even if the install base improves dramatically from now till then… oontz “I’m sorry but did I say anything incorrect there?” Sorry I was agreeing and expanding on what you were saying. “A few titles do indeed “confirm” the existence of “said” potential. Not the lack off.” I agree there are a few titles that show the gamepad could be amazing when used correctly. However in my opinion there are a lot more titles in the wiiu library that don’t. “lets not pretend it isn’t an issue for other genres like; FPS’ that requires better response times.” I have no issues with latency when playing any of my ps4 games on vita, including FPS games. I even get greater range when using system link (not wifi) when compared to my wiiu. “Personally I like it. I’m picking one up myself this weekend.” Awesome, be sure to add me when you do 🙂 “Those consoles outlined in your reply “are” most platforms.” Again I was just expanding on your point. “Wii U missing wouldn’t be a surprise either. Even if the install base improves dramatically from now till then…” Also agree, Rockstar seems to have no desire to bring the GTA franchise to the wiiu. Although like I mentioned below even a China Town Wars 2 would be great and welcomed to the wiiu library. Rinslowe “I agree there are a few titles that show the gamepad could be amazing when used correctly. However in my opinion there are a lot more titles in the wiiu library that don’t.” Ok thanks for the interesting reply. 🙂 To expand further on the above quote. I would again say, that those titles that do give the gamepad a genuine run “are” proving it’s existing realised potential, by definition of those game experiences being realised by it. I got what you mean’t about most titles the first time (no anti intended here). So if by including that on the side as part of your “expansion” then ok, sure. Still it’s not related to my point at all… Daniel Gonzalez No problems here either with latency. Must depend on a person’s internet speed. GTA will certainly be absent on Nintendo this generation for sure. Maybe next console if Nintendo decides to stop cutting corners. Rinslowe Latency between the Vita and PS4 I have witnessed first hand. Not to mention the many sources outlining the technical limitations as to why there are such differences between it and the gamepad. But this is not a discussion about which hardware is better than the other. Only which experiences are better had with what hardware within that technology. For Oontz that is not so much an issue. And that is how he perceives it. No issues here from me to him on that account. Although, it literally has nothing to do with the quality of ones internet connection. But in the underlying method of communication between the systems and the hardware that supports it… oontz Yeah like I said I use the direct link (not wifi) and I get a greater range than my wiiu and gamepad, with out any latency. I wish the gamepad had the same range in my house, because playing ps4 in bed is awesome. With my wiiu I can only make it half way to the bedroom 🙁 From all the latency issues I have read it’s usually a result of using the wifi connection and not direct link. Although in my house I can’t test it cause my home network is well above average. But it’s understandable that different users are going to have different experiences with technology, some good and some bad… Some great and some horrible. I really wish that Nintendo would release some sort of gamepad range extender… I wouldn’t be able to get my wallet out fast enough 😉 Daniel Gonzalez From my experiences, a direct link has always been more beneficial. I do like wifi, but it has it’s limits. Good for internet browsing, not too reliable for gaming. oontz Agreed unless like me you have 120mb internet, and a powerful home wireless network. I get around 85mb on my wifi devices. Life is good! Daniel Gonzalez 100mb internet for me. Wifi is around 75 on average, but tends to have connection issues. So when playing games, it’s direct link all the way. Funny enough, wifi works just fine for my android tablet with little to no issues. Tech can be complicated sometimes. oontz Yeah my PS4 and PS3 are a direct connection. My wiiu connects via wifi. Rinslowe We’ve also being using a direct connection over sharing the router. But certainly different people are going to experience differing levels of satisfaction from it for the foreseeable future IMO. From the encoding to the refresh ability… oontz Agreed… so far I am more than happy with the results. It’s actually much better than I had anticipated before release. Rinslowe Nice to hear. In fact as I mentioned I quite like it’s potential. I wasn’t completely satisfied though. However don’t mistake that for a witch hunt. I’m a genuine multiplatform owner and my focus is the experience… oontz I think GTA V on wiiu would have been the same game (overall), maybe some better textures and some sort of gamepad gameplay like china town wars on ds. It would have been a cool version to play. However there were problems with GTA V online when it launched so I imagine if a wiiu version had happened, it wouldn’t have had online multiplayer. David Trail GTA 5 and Dark Souls Definitive Edition for Wii U!!!! oontz Never going to happen. David Trail Rather than just update the graphics. They could have made a whole new Tomb Raider on Wii U. oontz What’s the point… It wouldn’t have sold enough units to be profitable. tronic307 It’s Tomb Raider, a vintage franchise, not Call of Duty. oontz The attach rate of 3rd party software on the wiiu paints a different picture. And that picture is wiiu owners mostly only buy Nintendo software. Even I am guilty of that fact. jrob23 Rayman Legends and Lost World both prove you wrong. But for crappy ports months late and missing features…yes, us Wii U owners don’t buy that shit oontz Um no… those are horrible numbers. http://www.vgchartz.com/game/70792/rayman-legends/ jrob23 not when you consider the low install base. Selling more Rayman Legends despite having 1/10 the install base is not horrible. oontz Rethink your math… On wiiu it sold 280,000. The install base is a lot more than 280,000 units right? Like a few million more right? Also since there were so few games it should have sold more. But it didn’t, just like all the other 3rd party titles. Compare it to Nintendo games sold on wiiu… – NSMBU = 3.89 million units – Nintendo Kand = 2.60 million units – SM3DW = 1.94 million units – NSLU = 1.51 Million units – Wii Party U = 1.24 million units – Zelda WWHD = 1.15 million units And then… – Rayman Legends = 0.28 million units That’s horrible. jrob23 280K per 5.8 million consoles for Wii U 310K per 82 million PS3 consoles 240K per 71 million Xbox consoles So you are making fun of the Wii U’s inability to sell 3rd party when it did so much better than PS360? Yeah, that makes sense. Legends will eventually reach 500k to 750k for Wii U imo when all is said and done. Not bad considering Ubi pissed off so many people. Nice try though, comparing sales of 1st party exclusives to a delayed game…oh wait. BTW, there aren’t ‘so few game’ on the Wii U. There has been more quality games on the Wii U since it’s launch than there has been on the anything else (except 3DS) during that span. What have the others got..shooter..shooter…EA…shooter…EA…shooter? Not to mention that that list of 1st party games includes those bundled with consoles or controllers. Only Super Mario 3d World was standalone and as you can see, not very impressive. There is a lot of apathy right now with the Wii U. Nintendo has failed buyers in many ways. The Wii U will be lucky to get to GC status. Which is okay as long as the games come. oontz Wow, that escalated quickly. Simmer down. “So you are making fun of the Wii U’s inability to sell 3rd party when it did so much better than PS360?” I am not making fun of anything, nor am I comparing the wiiu 3rd party attach rate to other platforms. Just stating FACT that 3rd party games (on average) don’t sell well on the wiiu. Don’t believe me? Here are the numbers. http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=&publisher=&platform=WiiU&genre=&minSales=0&results=200 “There has been more quality games on the Wii U since it’s launch than there has been on the anything else (except 3DS) during that span.” That’s all a matter of opinion. One that users of other platforms would disagree with. I played more amazing games on my PS3 than on my wiiu throughout the 2013 calendar year and I’m sure I’m not alone. “What have the others got..shooter..shooter…EA…shooter…EA…shooter?” Ignorance is bliss, isn’t it? “Only Super Mario 3d World was standalone and as you can see, not very impressive.” SM3DW still sold over 1.5 million units MORE than Rayman… which kinda proves my original statement that 3rd party titles on average don’t sell as well as first party on the wiiu. Now if you don’t mind, please drop the wounded fanboy act. Thanks jrob23 Care to name those stellar PS3 exclusive titles not named Last of Us for me that you have been playing since Holiday 2012? Ni no Kuni..crickets If your list is better than: Wind Waker HD ZombiU NSMBU NSLU SM3DW DKTF Pikmin 3 I will go away. but just know that Just Dance games, Lego games, Zumba Fitness, Sonic games, RE4, Skylanders, Disney Infinity, SF2, Final Fantasy and a few others have all sold extremely well on Nintendo consoles in the past. The common denominator is that they were good games and the install bases were larger than the Wii U. BTW, ZombiU isn’t too far behind Pikmin 3 in sales. But whatever, you are as bad as Daniel Gonzalez when it comes to selective hearing and participation. Until next time…don’t respond, I won’t be reading it oontz You’re an angry little fanboy aren’t you? Ironic since every game you mentioned for the wiiu is a first party title, but you originally attacked me for saying 3rd party titles don’t sell as well as first party… HA HA HA. Also just to point out you added DKTF to the list of best wiiu games of 2013. I didn’t know it was released last year. “you are as bad as Daniel Gonzalez when it comes to selective hearing and participation.” How is me giving actual facts and stating my opinion about the games I enjoyed last year as selective hearing? If anything you should follow your own advice… you are the one with selective hearing and have done knowing but prove my points for me with each of your responses. Thanks for the laughs. Daniel Gonzalez You had to have pissed him off some to use my name in comparison. This has been an interesting night. Lol. oontz I really don’t know what happened there, but I’m looking forward to his response. Daniel Gonzalez My my. Got a temper on you. Rinslowe Count me out of that “mostly” list. But you may be right overall… There’s definitely more third party in my Wii U library than first. But I expect that ratio to change dramatically by the end of this generation. oontz Funny cause I am the exact opposite. My wiiu library (other than some VC titles) is all first party. I delegate my other machines to 3rd party duties. But in all fairness I really only bought the wiiu for Nintendo’s first party offerings as that’s the only way I can play them, and it’s been that way for the past 3 generations now. Rinslowe Very true, I also bought the Wii U in anticipation of first party titles I expect to play over the generation. But ended up buying my fair share of third party mostly due to the drought… There were a few games I picked up on multiple platforms during Wii U’s launch period, like AC3 (also on 360) and Black Ops 2 (also on PC) to sort of test what it was about. As well as ME3, although I had played through that one more than 4 times before picking it up on Wii U… Zombie U, W101, Splinter Cell (as well as 360), MH3U, NFSMW, Deus Ex etc… oontz “I also bought the Wii U in anticipation of first party titles I expect to play over the generation. But ended up buying my fair share of third party mostly due to the drought…” Because of the drought… I just played more PS3. Mainly because no-one I know was/is on the Nintendo network. All my online gaming friends are on PSN or Xbox Live. I did however buy Scribblenauts which was 3rd party. Rinslowe Exactly. I’ve spent most my time on PC for that same reason. The initial wave of titles I just purchased because I could… Wanted to support the platform, see what the fuss was all about. There were a few notable exceptions having said that like; NFSMW U, Zombie U, W101 and Deus Ex which I picked up due to exclusivity or being a fresh or better experience on Wii U… This year though, I expect it’ll begin to change. DK, Kart, Smash and X etc.. Rinslowe I personally gave up on Eurogamer/ DF some time ago. When it became apparent they were genuine MS payrollers. Even the PS4 couldn’t catch a break on there until the overwhelming evidence against Xbox Ones lack of comparative titles running in full 1080p, was too many to ignore. Every time a port was released on Wii U based on code built from the ground up for 360, it was touted by DF as being due to some hardware limitation or design flaw on Nintendo’s behalf. Obviously though first party titles are looking great and performing great on Wii U as well as some stand out ports like Deus Ex, NFSMW etc.. Just goes to show that a lot of that early damnation from DF was misplaced and incorrect. All systems require optimisation to some degree. The Wii U’s only crime is that it requires a little bit more than most. Being that different in architecture overall. Could this be a turn in perception for DF? I doubt it. Richard Leadbetter is an asshle first class. And he runs the show on tech analysis. Going out of their way to outline it’s a Wii U “based” title proves that one… Sam Not surprisning. The only thing PlayStation has is sports games, Microsoft has HALO and………..? Nintendo had Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Pokémon, Smash Bros., F-ZERO, sports games…Nintendo has everything. Brandon What do you mean playststion only has sports games. It has more variety in there games then nintendo does. Well for xbox …….. Yea your pretty much right, but it also has fable which is pretty good as for forza. oontz Ha ha, yeah okay playstation only has sports games. You may want to research that a bit more unless you enjoy looking like a silly Nintendo fanboy. Josie the Sketcher No, actually, Sony and Microsoft are a breeding ground for FPS games. Way too many FPS games nowadays. Blood and gore with realistic visuals are the theme for this gen sadly 🙁 oontz You must be new to videgames but FPS have always been around since May 5th, 1992. When wolfenstein 3d popularized the FPS genre. Many FPS games have followed since then. That’s 22 years of blood and gore with procedurally realistic graphics. It didn’t just start this gen. Petri How is that being new to gaming? Anyone who has been in to gaming longer than a decade, knows how over saturated the FPS genre has become. I do enjoy those kind of games as well, but for every good FPS game, there’s dozen of mediocre FPS games. oontz “Anyone who has been in to gaming longer than a decade, knows how over saturated the FPS genre has become.” Exactly Josie the Sketcher No, no no no! You didn’t get what I meant, mate. I’ve been gaming since the Windows DOS/NES era and of course I know about Doom and Wolfenstein 3D – in fact they are my favourite FPS games. Basically what I’m trying to say is that there are way more of them than ever before – they seem to be dominating genre. There hasn’t been as many variety like in the good ol’ days. GmailIsDown i agree. it is rare for a good platforming game in the caliber of Rayman Legends to come around on Xbox and PlayStation. but what is wrong with blood and gore and realistic visuals? if you have a PS4/Xbox One, get Tomb Raider. beautiful game. will take your breathe away. Josie the Sketcher The problem is there isn’t much variety of genre in games anymore and I don’t play games for breath-taking realistic visuals, I play for fun and enjoyment which seems to be dying race. Take a game like Don’t Starve. It appeals to me because it looks like fun and the art style looks nice. Sam Exactly. 00EpicGamer00 “The only thing PlayStation has is sports game.” Lol, what? Listen, buddy, I’m a very early adopter of the PS3 (got it after Christmas) and I can say that PlayStation has more to offer than pathetic (no offense to anyone that likes sport games, it’s just my opinion) sport games. In fact, what you say doesn’t quite make sense since every single console has sport games…even handhelds! Bet you didn’t know that PlayStation’s got a few platforming games too, you know? 😛 I didn’t buy a PS3 to play sport games, lol. In fact, the way I see it, it seems to me that it is Nintendo who has the most sport games. Let’s see…we have Mario golf, basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, the olympic games series, Mario kart (I think “racing” can be characterized as a sport), same with super smash bros. it’s a fighting game! Fighting is definitely a sport. oontz You have come along way young Jedi! 00EpicGamer00 Thank you master! I have trained countless nights for this very moment. 😉 GmailIsDown wii sports! 00EpicGamer00 Hah! How could I forget about that one?….Also, I find funny how all the games I mentioned were JUST Mario games (with the exception of Smash Bros. I guess.) Lol, we also forgot about Wii Fit and Punch Out. djcaetano Oddly enough, the review suggests Wii U is ‘Last Gen’. bump! Gamer78 Imagine that. A game made for wiiu can actually hang with the other systems. Just shows the machine is capable. I hope more devs will take a chance with it. oontz You understand what a port means in relation to videogames, right? The other consoles didn’t get “enhanced ports” it’s the exact same game minus the gamepad use. Any game on wiiu can easily run on a ps4. But not the other way around. Brandon Well I like the wii u somewhat, but its not much of a next gen console in hardware. That being said in a few years or soon the games are going to show some difference other then graphics. oontz This exact same game is also on the vita… I hope that my wiiu is more than capable of my vita. alex toschi Yeah… even though the touch screen enables the system to play the Murphy levels I wouldn’t say controlling Murphy is nearly as clean when compared to the gamepad. The stylus and the larger screen make the precise rope cuts much more precise than a finger on the small vita screen. The game looks better on a television, and local multiplayer is just so much more accessible. I’d still call the Wii U version the definitive version. oontz Yes the game was made for the wiiu and then ported. The wiiu version SHOULD be the definitive version. tronic307 I like your conclusion, but not how you got there. Gamer78 I did buy Rayman for WiiU also. I do hope to get a boost in 3rd party efforts once Mk8 drops. I think that will spur console sales which I believe 3rd party devs are waiting on. Sdudyoy I have to say I didn’t like the Murphy levels, so I might have enjoyed a version without him more. Petri While it was a fun game, I can see why it flunked across all platforms. Doubt they can find much love on xbone or ps4 either. The new version has nothing definitive about it, so Ubisofts only hope is that ps4 and xbone gamers are hungry for games. matt wiiu is doing 120 frames a second gaming 60 per screen in some games like black-ops2 ect mario 3d world destroys knack mario kart 8 is on par with ps4s best easy…. wiiu has more fast catch memory n its gpu than any other on the planet and 1080p with 2x AA is 32mb exacly the size of wiius buffer memory wiiu gpu has 35mb on there ps4 has no such memory and a small cpu catch and 200ns latency main memory wiiu is sub 5ns thts 40 x faster ps4 is a pc and has the slowest memory of all 3 systems wiiu is a highly optermized custom video gaming box with the fatest memory gddr5 has only half the cpu performance of ddr3 in benchmarks oontz Ha ha, if Wiiu was better… it’d BE better. But it’s not. As much as I love my wiiu… my ps4 destroys it for visual fidelity (graphics/resolution), system speed, friend/social media integration, online multiplayer, PS+ instant game collection, etc. The list goes on. Hell even my Vita gets better range for remote play then my gamepad. I still LOVE my wiiu though… but I am not blind to the shear power of the PS4 and what’s it’s already shown it’s capable of. Rinslowe Why do you continue to entertain this console war blsht? Who cares lol. If we must go all Gorilla’s in the mist, then so be it… But damn people. I’m off to get lost in my new Skyrim mod…. oontz “Why do you continue to entertain this console war blsht?” Sorry, when I see posts the one above… I just can’t help myself 🙂 Brandon The thing is the wii u cant even utilize half of the speed the edram can perform because of its low end gpu. 60fps on two screens is not hard to do when the second screen can only display 480p. The wii u is not nearly as powerful as the ps4 or even the xbox one, so stop thinking it is. matt Wait for the real games Iwata said Metroid is coming…….that will technically show what wiiu can do. oontz I would LOVE a new Metroid! NyallJodhan When did he say that please? InterTreble Epic win oontz Is it surprising that a game built from the ground up for the wiiu, performs the best on the wiiu? Cause it shouldn’t be. InterTreble For haters and trolls is never evident that Wii U can be better than PS4 and Xbox One. This is just a reminding! 😉 oontz better in what sense? NyallJodhan So why is it surprising when games built from the ground up for Xbox and PS and ported to Wii U and still stutters a bit (though not as much as on the actual systems they were built for)? oontz It’s not, at least for me anyways. Petri It should not be for anyone. But console fanboys uses it as measurement of the consoles capabilities. pbd2 I really hated the stupid gamepad globox levels on the wiiu demo. Glad I got the 360 one myself. Dáibhí wotshissurname I actually think the Vita version is best. It’s got all the features of the Wii U version, including uncompromised Murphy controls. Also, it’s portable. manowaffles Multiplayer? Dáibhí wotshissurname And that too, although admittedly there’s not much people online. It fully supports local wireless multiplayer as well though. manowaffles That would take knowing more than 1 person with a Vita. Besides, America really doesn’t offer the best experiences for a portable console like some other countries. Dáibhí wotshissurname I guess my judgment is diluted because I live in Ireland and it is really easy to get Streepass hits inmy area. Even the Vta has like 20 users in my area according to the GPS in the Vita (I think it’s a GPS) Petri Murphy levels are great on coop. gamingpalooza i beat super mario 3d world and sonic lost world on wii u… might try this next manowaffles It’s well worth the investment. Gotta love those musical levels! GmailIsDown i just got the xbox one version of Rayman Legends in the mail today. love this game ever since i first played the demo on wii u. will play it this weekend and see if there’s any difference.
