Rayman Legends is one of the original Wii U launch title from Ubisoft, and what we’ve seen so far is pretty darn good. Now the developer has released an 8 minute video showing how well (and how much) the Wii U tablet controller is used. Not only is the touchscreen and stylus used to influence the gameplay, but puzzles are also solved by tilting the controller. Finally, we get to see some of the environments in Rayman Legends, and they’re just gorgeous. The art design, the levels, the characters, and the fun factor makes this a must have Wii U game at launch. Check out the full video below.

  • Wii Uoops!

My first Rayman game was Rayman Ravung Rabbids. Then they took Rayman out of it and just made Rabbids.

    • Wii Uoops!

      RavING, actually. Typo.

    • Mid-core Gamer

Rayman 2: The Great Escape was mine (for the Nintendo 64).

      • Ultimate Cheez

dude rayman 2 was my first game and that’s was the best one ever made I think they ruined them now. But that’s my opinion.

    • Bram

My first was just Rayman, on my windows 95 PC 😉

      • For Shizzlez

My first was also Rayman Raving Rabbids. He’s slowly coming back upstream with his games. Like Sonic. And Banjo Kazooie. And Spyro. Crash is still a bit nooby with his racing games and all.

  • Parker

The way you use the Wii U gamepad features in this game is amazing.

    • Alienfish

I’m not too sure, the green thing going around the screen is annoying as hell, looks like a deal breaker for me.

      • Matthewmc685

You may like to know there is a single player in this game. (there will be no “green thing” in single player)

  • SuperShyGuy

    Looking good!

  • Ledreppe

I’ll be getting this on day 1 for sure!

  • Draco Breach

Ubisoft loves showing this part of the game off. I think I’ve seen no less than three demo videos showcasing the “music video” sequence.

Still, nice to see how Ubisoft plans on using the GamePad. Some interesting game mechanics. Also seems Rayman Legends is aiming more for gaming with friends and/or family.

  • joe

Um, looks great, I need someone to tell me exactly what was going on…was the person playing as Rayman using the Wiimote, and the dude with the WiiU Pad controlling just his buddy?

    • Draco Breach

P1 (Rayman) is using the Wii U Pro Controller. P2 (frog thing) is using Wii U GamePad.

      Hope that helps 😉

      • joe

Draco, Thanks…Now does one “have” to get the Pro Controller?

I hope not all games will be this “involved”…Maybe I just need to get it and see. Which I will do as soon as I can preorder it!

        • Draco Breach

          I don’t know.

The contents of the initial hardware package have not been revealed. Ubisoft also has not officially confirmed all control schemes available for Rayman Legends.

  • Slipsevenfold

The part at the end was Amazing!

  • Lord Carlisle

Never played this series, but I don’t like the artistic style. I mean, I don’t DISlike it, it’s not bad, it just doesn’t please me personally.

  • SilentBates

Great to see developers all ready getting into the groove with the new controler! Oh I cant wait to see what the next E3 has in store for us for nintendo!

  • mac

i love the music sequence at the end this is a must buy for me here

  • RonaldCoLtd

This game looks pretty awesome. . . Who am I kidding, This game looks fun, and outsanding!

  • gPadWatcher

This could be the BEST third party publishing title that has ever graced exclusively on the Wii U. Rayman Legends is revolutionary and fun!

  • Biggy N

Wow. Great gameplay! 2 player coop plus they manage to use the feature of the tablet and I will assume the other player uses the pro controller. This will be great! A must have for Wii U.

  • fedster

    i want a 3d model rayman game

  • Shankovich

Looking good, thought I’ve never really been a fan of the franchise (don’t really like 2D platforming). Hope this attracts gamers though!

  • Smash

They borrowed som great ideas from Donkey Kong Country Returns 🙂

  • Smash

Draco Breach, are you sure or guessing about the control method?

    • Draco Breach

      Absolutely sure.

If you watch the video, you’ll notice tutorials on screen. P1 is told how to use the Wii U Pro Controller to control Rayman. P2 is told how to manipulate the Wii U GamePad to control the frog thing.

Pay attention when the tutorial tells P1 how to run 😉 You’ll see.

  • Smash

    Draco Breach, nice !
I was worried that I would control both Rayman and the frog with the control pad and stylus.

    • Draco Breach

At this time, I don’t believe any dual-GamePad games have been announced. I’m not even sure when developers received SDKs capable of handling two GamePads at once. I think it was v.4 or v.5, which would be too late in production cycle for launch window titles.

  • Alienfish

Wow! This game just snagged a little more of my attention. Funds permitting I think I’ll pick this up.

  • Hi8us

The game has an amazing beautiful art style. The game pad & pro controller combination makes for some very interesting and entertaining multiplayer. That running stage was like an awesome music stage. great game!

  • The Beeshnu

One of the games i’m most looking forward to

  • joe

I hope one player is as fun…

  • Firebro

This is honestly how devs are supposed to use the Wii U! Ubisoft used it in such a original and great way. People who say “oh its a gimmick because its only used for items and maps” are honestly idiots. If Ubisoft can think of a way to use the tablet in a interesting and fun way then any dev can if they have the brains to.

  • Wiiufansorta..

I am loving the wii u right now and I know this is random but I wish they would just screw the wii Remotes…I don’t wanna use them at all…I will sue if they make me use them in a Metroid game!!
