Ubisoft knows they made a big mistake by delaying Rayman Legends until September and making it multi-platform. That hasn’t stopped them from doing it, but at least now they’re offering Wii U owners a laurel of peace hoping to smooth them over. Not only is Ubisoft one of the best third-party partners for the Wii U right now, but they’re currently expanding Rayman Legends to make it even beefier.

A grand total of 30 new levels and several new boss fights will be included in the game, which makes the time spend delayed well worth it in my opinion. Ubisoft Montpelier are using the delay time to make sure Wii U owners are very happy with their purchase, so despite being rather miffed that the game was delayed in the first place, I think it’s safe to say that it might perhaps be a good thing.

Thanks for the tip, Leo!

thats a massive addition!!!! Okay Ubisoft, you won me back!!!!

  • YoG99

Still not sure about this … it’s coming more or less in the same time as Wind Waker remake. Link got my vote.

    • Rick van der Linde

I know for sure that I’ll be getting Wind Waker before this game, even though it’s a remake. One of the most played games on the NGC by me!

    • Nothing5555

For me I would get this before Wind Waker since I have already played and enjoyed that game on the Gamecube. Actually I’ll need to buy a WiiU first :.)

      • Fred

What are you waiting for? Join the party already! Right now Best Buy is doing buy the basic for $299 and get Nintendo Land FREE! http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Nintendo+Wii+U+Console+Basic+Set+and+Free+Nintendo+Land+Game/9999201100050000.p?id=pcmprd200000050000&skuId=9999201100050000

        • Nothing5555

Once the deluxe version goes for $250 then I’ll bite. I still have a huge backlog of games i need to play on Steam, Wii, and PS3… Besides by the time the price drops there will be more games out for the WiiU with some AAA titles going for $20.

          • [000]

The deluxe isn’t going to be $250 for a very long time. I’d say about a few years at best. If Nintendo started off selling at a loss, then they’re not going to cut the price by $100 anytime soon. It will probably go down to $300 for the Deluxe at some point sooner, but $250 is wishful thinking if you hope to get it before half of the console’s life is up. l. Do you really want to wait that long to get one? I guess if you’ve got all those other games to play, then maybe it wouldn’t matter so much, but there are quite a few things that you miss out on when you wait that long to get something.

          • DragonSilths

Deluxe…$250? You want another $100 off it? Have fun waiting 3-4 years.

    • Ducked

Not for me. I like The Legend of Zelda, but a HD remake isn’t that big for me. I’d rather get a full new game. Still buying both, but I’d prefer Rayman Legends slightly more.

      • lonewolf88

ur loss i would love another HD remake like a remake to link to the past or majoras mask would look epicly epic

        • Ducked

My loss. I’m not losing anything, I said I was getting both. Even as amazing as the HD remake looks, I think $60 is a little high.

          • Squid

            That was not confirmed.

          • Ducked

The price? Because every website I’ve been on has said $59.99.

          • DragonSilths

Most say $99.99 lol. Place holder numbers. Windwaker Reborn, should be $49.99 imo. Not $40 cause its a TRUE remake not just a graphics bump like Halo CEA.

          • Ducked

            Agree with you there.

          • lonewolf88

when people sell HD collections for 60 bucks i think a remake is well worth 60…

          • Squid

I’m probably wrong though. I love Zelda, this is the only one I never played

          • Ducked

            You haven’t played Wind Waker?

          • lonewolf88

how do u think a remake is a little high when people sell HD collections for the same price and thos pretty much look the same….

          • Ducked

The HD collections come with 3 games, and there $40, not $60.

    • Fred

I don’t feel the need to choose between them. I’m buying BOTH. When other members of the family are around I’ll turn on Rayman. When I’m alone I can play me some Wind Waker (very excited about this one the animation style turned me off when I was in High School and it came out so I never played it. I’m over that now and ready to have fun with it)

      • YoG99

Wind Waker was a really good game back in the days, can’t wait to play it again remastered in HD. It’s an easy pick for me over rayman. I was pissed off by Ubisoft when they announced they would delay Rayman … not sure I’m still that pissed, but I’ll chose any other games over Rayman, for sure.

        • Fred

I can understand being angry, I was at first that was going to be my birthday, but now my birthday has come and gone. However, don’t punish yourself, Rayman is a great game buy it and enjoy it.

    • Fred

Why choose between 2 great games? I’m downloading BOTH on day 1! When I’m alone I’ll play Wind Waker and when others are around Rayman it is!

    • Link Slayer

I’ll buy this and Wind Waker!!!

  • Still not sure Rayman Legends will sell well with titles like GTA V, possibly Wind Waker HD, and other titles in Q3 and September. While audiences aren’t mutually exclusive, Rayman isn’t necessarily a juggernaut in gaming compared to GTA and other franchises.

    • D.M.T

Ubisoft will pay for delaying the game. It won’t sell much on PS3 and 360. Why? Because those gamers will buy GTA 5, Saints Row 4 and other games instead. Wii U owners will buy Wind Waker HD instead. They will learn the hard way to never ever delay a game that was ready for release again.

      • You’re assuming audiences are mutually exclusive, which they aren’t.

Would you really miss out on 30 more levels, extra bosses, and tuning just to have the game now? At least Ubisoft isn’t leaving the Wii U version of Rayman Legends alone while development continues across the other platforms.

        • D.M.T

Ever heard of DLC? Downloadable content? These extra levels and bosses could have been released as DLC for Wii U. I will continue to buy Ubisoft games and I will buy Rayman Legends but they are going to regret it and I don’t feel sorry for them. You can’t just delay the Wii U version just because you want the game on other platforms as well. It’s just something you shouldn’t do and they will regret it one way or another.

          • As Miyamoto said, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” Not only would I prefer a polished one, but a complete one as well. DLC means nothing if the game in it’s original state is terrible. $60 for a complete, fine-tuned offering is a much better value than $60 plus whatever the cost of potential DLC may be. Plus I prefer story driven and multiplayer DLC over platforming DLC.

Agree or disagree with Ubisoft’s decision, there are more winners because of it. Rayman fans get to experience the game on their console of choice. Wii U owners still have the online challenge mode for free this month, a second demo, and the additional content announced today. Ubisoft isn’t going to regret opening the game to a larger audience, and with the number and quality of titles they have slated for release this holiday season, I doubt they will experience substantial failures.

          • D.M.T

You don’t get it do you? My problem is not that they decided to make it multi-platform, I don’t care about that. My problem is that you should NEVER EVER delay a game that was finished just because you want it on other consoles too. It’s a stupid reason to delay a game. Rayman Legend wasn’t terrible or even bad in it’s original state. The first demo alone was very fun, imagine the full game.

Ubisoft is going to regret it because I strongly believe that this game won’t sell much on PS3 and 360. Just wait and see.

          • Unless you have a link that proves Rayman Legends was gold, and approved to be ready to ship out to retailers, then your argument isn’t valid. The week the development team had to close development on the game was when they got word that the game was being delayed and developed on other platforms. Otherwise, it would of been ready for release, but it was never gold status. Saying the game was finished back then is only speculation.

          • Adrian

DLC vs free? I’ve never permanently NOT bought a game because of another game coming out at the same time. If you want it, then get it eventually. Only baby brats whine about not getting what they want because of a minor delay.

          • D.M.T

Where did I say that I’m not gonna buy Rayman Legends? I will buy it but not on day 1. I’ve lost interest in this game a long time ago but I will still buy it because it looks fun.

Rayman is fun but it’s not a game too many people care about so I don’t see how most people will buy Rayman Legends before GTA 5, AC 4 etc.

          • Adrian

Guess I interpretted that incorrectly. Haha.

          • Fred

But if they were done as DLC, it’d cost more money I like that we’ll get them for free

          • D.M.T

I know it’s free but it’s still stupid to delay a game just because you want it on PS3 and 360 as well. It’s just something you shouldn’t do but I forgive them because they aren’t perfect, they make mistakes too

          • Fred

Don’t get me wrong I’ll be downloading it on the eShop day 1, but I wish they would have sent a message to microsoft instead of Wii U owners. If they would have released it back in February and ported it in September for PS3, they probably would have sold almost as many copies (most 360 owners also own either a PS3 or a Wii U) and if enough companies did this maybe Microsoft would reconsider their dumb policies as opposed to not getting games!

        • Nintendofreak

ill just buy it when it drops in price…like what 4-6 months… its not like im going to die for waiting to get a game i waited 7 months

          • Adrian

That’s what I like to see!

  • D.M.T

It doesn’t matter what you do Ubisoft, Rayman Legends won’t sell much with games like GTA5 and Windwaker HD being released in the same time. You made a mistake by delaying it and you’re gonna pay for it Ubisoft. You’re also going to regret it.

I will buy Rayman Legends but I will buy it AFTER other games like Wind Waker HD, Splinter Cell, Watch Dogs etc.

    • Fred

Not me, it’ll be a day 1 eShop download for me! I LOVE THIS GAME!

  • This actually kinda sways me. 30 rayman levels is a LOT of content… You win Ubisoft. You win.

    • Javy G

I hear you! You have got to understand the business standpoint of the move they made. Microsoft has a contract that if released in their system as well, they must release at the same time as other consoles. Trust me this only benefits us because more money they make, the more games that can be produced. 30 extra levels, free downloadable content, and special gamepad gameplay, what more can you ask for! …but same release as Zelda Windwaker …the reason I bought the Wii U!

      • Fred

I wish they would have released it on Wii U back in February and ported it to PS3 in September. If Microsoft gets burned enough times they may reconsider that policy. I figure that the vast majority of people that would buy it on the 360 will have a PS3 or a Wii U (not many people have just a 360)

    • Squid

Wish these were exclusives but yes. I’m excited too.

      • bizzy gie

The extra levels and bosses are exclusives.

        • Fred

Did they say this somewhere? I’d love to read about that

          • bizzy gie

“now they’re offering Wii U owners a laurel of peace hoping to smooth them over”

          • Fred

That doesn’t mean they are exclusive. While it doesn’t mean they aren’t there’s nothing to say that they are. All it’s saying is they’ve added these new things to the game which should make Wii U owners feel like it’s justifiable to wait for the game. It doesn’t mean that PS360 won’t also get these levels and bosses.

          • bizzy gie

We’ll have to see. Ashley has a history of misleading its readers to believe something that isn’t.

          • Fred

She put in a link to her source, we could go there and read that

          • Fred
  • Calvin Bowens

How do WE know that they added 30 new levels during the delay? They could just be saying that.

    • Nintendofreak

      im scarred

    • Adrian

Uhm, most reputable companies do have at least a little integrity when it comes to making public statements.

    • MasterPpv

Not all companies are like EA 😉

  • Jon

this makes me wonder if this will have an effect on the cost of buying this game….. and if so… by how much?

  • Cerus98

Sorry but I can’t even read this article. The spelling and grammar are just terrible not to mention the incoherent sentences and improper word use. Unless of course Ubi is in fact giving everyone a laurel (shrub). If so, then carry on. I’ll be expecting the UPS guy with mine next week.

By the way, nobody gives a shit that its multi-platform. They’re pissed because a finished launch window game was delayed to do so.

But seriously, the articles here are just getting worse and worse. They used to be really good but I guess WiiU Daily has given up as is just resting on their laurels at this point.

    • Adrian

Maybe you should stop being a dick and go to a different site. You know, if this site doesn’t please you and all. And yes, you are being a dick.

      • Cerus98

Thanks for the advice. If you and Ronald don’t like my sometimes critical posts then you’re free to not read them. I have plenty of good things to say and have said them when warranted. Free country and all so if you want to get butthurt over some criticism that isn’t even directed at you then that’s your problem.

On that note, this one IS directed at you both. Learn to take some criticism. I know that’s hard to do as kids these days when everyone is a winner and competition is all but dead but that is how the real world works. I fear the day your future bosses are critical of you. I wonder what you’d do….oh I know. You’ll do what every other kid today does. You’ll quit and the bitch to your friends and family about how your job sucked and treated you so unfairly.

        • Adrian

I take criticism extremely well. I’ve been in an extremely volatile and unforgiving professional environment for 5 years now, so nice try on your unfounded assumptions.
I’m not even getting into whether your criticisms were valid or not, I’m talking about your attitude. You come to a free site, and try to assert your superiority by insulting the work of the people who make the site run. Not only do you point out the flaws (which is semi-acceptable), but you actually insult the writer. You might not realize it, but you are being a judgmental prick, AKA a DICK.

          • zerooooo

            Adrian wins.

    • Kyle Berger

whoa who invited the grammar police?

  • All is forgiven for Ubisoft. I think they have shown far more support for the Wii U than anyone else, maybe even more than Nintendo.

  • david jarman

I’m going to purchase it cause I don’t want to lose ubisoft’s third party support. Plus, the demo was awesome, and the developers put a lot if time and effort into this game.

  • Ducked

I guess that’s good, but I’d still prefer it coming out last month.

  • Kevin Sepulveda

The new levels and boss HAS made me happy. Now that they are doing something with the extra time.

  • Are these levels and bosses exclusive to the Wii U version? It’s not terrible if they aren’t but I’d appreciate Wii U owners getting a little extra over the other consoles besides the demo.

  • Rob Lucci

Watch it be in a DLC.

  • Guhtere

Well look at the bright side. If it were released at the time it was supposed to be, we might’ve had to get this as paid DLC.

  • Johny

    oh. nice…
also.. guys.. i think we just CANT be mad at ubisoft after all the AWESOME support they show for the system by releasing all of their highly anticipated titles on it

  • Squid

I’d only be happy if these levels are exclusive to Wii U

    • Revolution5268

      read the article fool

      • Squid

        Doesn’t say that anywhere,

  • uPadWatcher

Sounds to me that Ubisoft is REALLY improving the U version of Rayman Legends.

  • NintendoNoob

FUCK YEAH! Suck it Ps3, 360, Pc owners!

  • audi lover

There needs to be 30 new levels plus another 60 because the demo levels are so short its scandalous

  • It’s great that they are adding more content for the Wii U owners, after slapping em in the face. I’ll happy have more companies doing this, especially the ones who are supporting the new consoles out there. It beats saying “No, we’re not making a game for this new console cos no one is buying it.”
At least Ubisoft are willing to port their titles over to the Wii U.
Sadly, Rayman Legends (2D side scroller) doesn’t interest me the slightlest. But I’m liking the 30 increase level support.

  • DragonSilths

Unless the 30 new levels and bosses are ONLY on the Wii U version, nobody gives a fuck.

    • Let’s hope so, I’ll only be satisfied if the PS360 versions are watered down beyond recognition compared to the Wii U version.

  • kevin nun—-

Are the 30 new levels a permanent exclusive? It would be awesome if Ubisoft exaggerated this benefit in the Wii U version so it can lure some Xbox and PS3 players a bit.

  • Mochlum

Wooo! This is making me feel better about the delay. And for those who still boycott it, it seems kind of pointless to me, since most of the boycotters are Nintendo Fans, so the Sony and MIcrosoft fans will buy it anyway, so it is basically a lose for you and a win for everyone else.

  • GuardiansFan

not sure how its a good thing…they could have released those extra levels as freebies later on and still release the Wii U version sooner but they decided not to. Thats how i look at it.

  • Dominic Coradazzi

Damn. 30 Levels could keep me occupied for hours!!
let’s hope they’re quality levels and not just some half-assed apology

  • Cubester_64

I know some people are mad about the game being delayed and multiplatform, but before Origins, when was the LAST Rayman game? How about a 2-D one?

  • Michael Jurado

question is this 30 more levels and bosses only to the wii u or too all systems?

  • sd

I really wanted this game and was annoyed with Ubi when it was cancelled. Then I looked at the WiiU games and realised that really without the current support from Ubisoft the WiiU would be dead in the water. Come on Nintendo at the very least give us some release dates for something that you are doing.

  • One thing’s for sure, the remake of Wind Waker will probaby have new gameplay mechanisms. Just like they did with Ocarina of time on the 3ds. And besides, I never played the game on Gamecube. The ony ones I played were Four swords and Skyward sword. I would like to buy it.

  • Daniel

They need the new levels because ps and 360 perhaps cannot play the game pad levels.
But the game is great and i have to buy it.
