Developer Voofoo have put the finishing touches on Pure Chess for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS after being delayed last year. The game is set to launch on March 20 for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The neat thing about this release is that it utilizes cross-platform play, so you’ll be able to play with anyone who owns the game on their iPad, iPhone, iPod, or Android device. It’s also the primary cause of the initial delay, as the development team underestimated how long it would take to get cross-platform play functioning correctly.

You’ll be able to pick up the game for £4.99 / €5.99 / $7.99 when it releases. Check out the trailer above to see some of the gorgeous chess sets that await your masterful mind!

I will be picking this up for sure as I am a chess-nit… already very active on Chess With Friends… hit me up on there (Chess With Friends) at bigfranky75 if anyone ever wants to play…

  • Wooopigsooie

Will for sure get this one as I enjoy chess and my family is too chicken to take me on and my one one friend whom I play with is moving away. Cool thing is I’ll be able to play him despite the fact that he has an IPad rather than Wii U.

Finally the Wii U’s savior! I believe this will be the game to sell Wii U’s, and easily outsell PS4 and Xbone!

    • Daniel Gonzalez

It will crush them both into a pile of dust!

      • Jaymes Deen

This game will not crush those systems to a pile of dust, what are you talking about.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

This game will print Nintendo money! I predict 3 million Wii U’s sold during its first week. 😀

    • Jaymes Deen

How is this game going to make Nintendo Money? Are you kidding me

      • Levi Johansen

By selling – all games released on a console makes money for the console manufactor, not just the game developer.

It’s the price of the “Licensed by Nintendo”-sticker and making games without a license is illegal.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

        It’s called sarcasm.

  • ChrisCamp

Well I didn’t want to say anything, but March 20 is… my … birthday-can’t wait to get my ass beat in Chess. I hope you guys are ready for some serious “castleing” strategies

  • metalpants

That’s a nice surprise. They said “we’ll announce the date soon” and suddenly it’s about a week away :D. Never played chess (for real anyway), so this should be a fun way to get into it :).

    • Shota

it’s a really great game if you get into it. using your brain for the ultimate strategy !!!

  • Shota

  • Geoff Hammer

Perfect, I’ve been waiting for this title. I hope my 7-year old is ready for a chess beat down!!

  • Gordon Blakey

They could have done this so much better by having the chess pieces destroy each other.

    • Dark-Link73

      They don’t? Awwwww! 🙁

  • NintendoFan

Who needs 3rd party games when we have this?!

  • Christian Schoff
